PE Ch2: You will die
Mr. Huai did not speak, his gaze gently skimmed over Pan Yinchuan.
Xiu Ning noticed his gaze and immediately spoke up, “We just caught a spy from the rebels.”
Mr. Huai still did not speak.
But Pan Yinchuan’s heart fell into a bottomless abyss. His past life environment was simple, one could even say he had always lived in an ivory tower. Suddenly facing the cruelty of human nature directly made his hands and feet go numb, and he couldn’t think of a single way to escape from this predicament.
At this moment, it was the secretary-like person beside Mr. Huai who laughed and said, “Is this how spies are usually handled?”
Xiu Ning, with a calm demeanor, replied, “I have been neglecting the management of my subordinates… perhaps Mr. Huai can teach me how to handle this.”
Mr. Huai’s gaze once again turned to Pan Yinchuan.
This time, it was no longer light and fleeting but more like a bone-scraping knife, not only tearing through one’s outer clothing but also gouging out one’s flesh and blood to carefully examine the bones inside.
Pan Yinchuan couldn’t stop shivering, his legs turned to jelly.
How would he die?
Would he die in such a humiliating manner, succumbing under the pressure of the man’s pheromones?
Pan Yinchuan held his breath, struggled to lift his head, and through the blood-hazed vision, he first saw the man’s long and powerful fingers holding a cane inlaid with purple gemstones.
Then the man raised the cane and pointed it at him.
The gesture was abrupt and filled with an air of condescension, as if directing a cat or dog.
Mr. Huai said, “Alright, then give him to me.”
Xiu Ning’s expression froze for a moment, but then he smiled again, “Alright, alright.”
He turned his face, looked at the two bodyguards holding Pan Yinchuan, and in an instant, his gaze became as venomous as a snake.
He said, “Didn’t you hear? Let him go.”
Pan Yinchuan was released, unconsciously stumbled forward, and fell to the ground.
Soon, the person standing behind Mr. Huai came over to help him up. Unlike the rough bodyguards, this person was gentle, escorting Pan Yinchuan to the black SUV.
Pan Yinchuan came back to his senses in a daze, realizing he had survived.
But Xiu Ning had just handed him over to Mr. Huai so easily. How would Mr. Huai deal with him?
How did he treat “spies”? Would he believe me if I explained my identity and background to him?
Pan Yinchuan’s mind was filled with chaotic thoughts.
He looked at the people outside through the car window. Xiu Ning was still talking to Mr. Huai. As they talked, Xiu Ning couldn’t help but laugh first, showing that he and Mr. Huai had a friendly and even close relationship.
They didn’t talk for long. Soon, Xiu Ning was ushered into another car, and Mr. Huai returned to the SUV.
“Go,” Mr. Huai said just one word, then sat down next to Pan Yinchuan.
Pan Yinchuan was hit by the unabashed pheromones from Mr. Huai, which caused a rush of blood, and the originally blocked nose and mouth suddenly cleared—
He was bleeding.
Mr. Huai’s secretary, who was sitting in the front passenger seat, heard his muffled groan and turned around immediately. With a familiar gesture, he twisted open a balm and brought it to Pan Yinchuan’s nose.
Pan Yinchuan didn’t need to exert any effort. With just a light breath, his pheromone-induced condition was greatly alleviated.
The secretary asked in a gentle tone, “How do you feel?”
Pan Yinchuan moved his lips, unsure of the situation, and didn’t dare to speak.
The secretary said, “Mr. Huai’s pheromones are just too overwhelming, so we all need to wear buffers. We don’t have an extra one right now, but we’ll get you one later.”
Pan Yinchuan’s pupils constricted.
He had thought Mr. Huai’s pheromones were terrifying, but he hadn’t realized they were this extreme… to the point where even those around him needed to wear buffers!
A good buffer costs between 400,000 to 1 million yuan.
They… were going to give him one?
Pan Yinchuan struggled to open his mouth and squeezed out a sound from his throat, “I… I’m not a rebel spy. I’m from Jiuhe City, here to study in Nanta City. I was detained right after my plane landed.”
The secretary nodded slightly, “Oh, I see.”
His tone was light, as if he didn’t care about any of this at all.
Pan Yinchuan didn’t know what to say next. If they had even questioned him a bit, he would have had more to say.
The car continued to move forward in silence.
Pan Yinchuan could vaguely feel the body heat radiating from Mr. Huai beside him.
It was somewhat warm.
Mr. Huai hadn’t spoken a word since getting into the car, and Pan Yinchuan didn’t dare turn to look at him.
To calm his chaotic thoughts, Pan Yinchuan kept looking out the window.
At some point, several sand-colored Hummers appeared, escorting the black SUV on both sides as they sped forward.
They passed through tree-lined avenues, onto the road, past bombed-out ruins, and even boldly drove into the frontline of the conflict.
Pan Yinchuan’s heart tightened again.
But something strange happened…
The convoy sliced through the fighting crowd like a sword, and both the local government troops and the rebels made way for them.
They passed through unimpeded…
Passed through…
Pan Yinchuan couldn’t help but widen his eyes.
At this moment, the secretary even chuckled lightly, “With the city in this state, I think the high officials of Nanta City should resign in disgrace.”
The driver chimed in jokingly, “They might as well surrender. How dare they capture civilians to fill the gaps as cannon fodder?”
Those few words were enough to reveal their high status, much higher than the officials of Nanta City, possibly much higher.
Even Major Yan Xue, if she were here, might not have the ability to part the sea like Moses in this manner.
Moreover, Mr. Huai and his people knew about the civilian captures!
No wonder… no wonder they weren’t even interested in questioning him further.
Pan Yinchuan instantly relaxed and leaned back steadily against the seat.
At this moment, Mr. Huai seemed to glance at him.
That gaze had become much lighter, and Pan Yinchuan, for once, didn’t shiver. So, he mustered the courage to meet Mr. Huai’s eyes.
Mr. Huai’s eyes, upon closer inspection, were actually purple!
Just like the gemstone embedded in his cane, they carried the unique inorganic coldness of a jewel.
Pan Yinchuan was stunned for a moment before he managed to speak, “Thank you, Mr. Huai, for saving me.”
“Save you?” Mr. Huai spoke up, his face devoid of expression. At that moment, the car happened to pass under a canopy of trees, casting shadows over his face, making it appear murky and obscure.
Even his tone sounded somewhat peculiar.
Pan Yinchuan was sensitive to the atmosphere, and his heart, which had relaxed just moments ago, tightened once more.
The secretary’s voice came from the front seat again, “No need to be polite… Hmm, we’ll talk about it later.”
After that, there was no more conversation, and Pan Yinchuan had no mood to look outside the car.
It wasn’t until the car drove into the airport.
They… were leaving Nanta City?
Pan Yinchuan got off the car and stood still, taking a careful look around. He soon realized that this was not the Nanta City Airport he had seen when he arrived.
He turned his head again.
Two military planes were parked not far away.
Such… a grand gesture!
Pan Yinchuan had only seen such things on TV shows and military magazines in his life.
But now, the secretary led him straight onto one of the military planes.
Mr. Huai stayed on the ground and exchanged a few words with a few people before boarding the military plane himself.
The secretary suddenly leaned close to Pan Yinchuan’s ear and whispered, “Don’t those people look familiar to you?”
“W-what?”
“They are officials from Nanta City.”
Pan Yinchuan pursed his lips, a hint of anger rising in his eyes.
It was these people… who had caused innocent people like them to be arrested.
Wait, Pan Yinchuan realized, why was Mr. Huai’s secretary telling him this?
“You’re quite brave,” the secretary praised him.
Pan Yinchuan was puzzled again, “Brave?”
“Yeah,” the secretary replied, casting a critical eye over him.
Pan Yinchuan felt uneasy. The statement sounded too strange, almost as if they were going to sell him off to a farm as a slave.
At that moment, Mr. Huai entered, and the secretary fell silent.
Pan Yinchuan, exhausted from the past few days, finally lost control and drifted into a deep sleep after fastening his seatbelt and leaning his head back.
The secretary murmured to himself, “I told you he’s brave.”
The plane left Nanta City like this, and when Pan Yinchuan woke up, he was already in another state.
He opened his eyes, taking in the luxurious bedroom environment. A servant entered at the right moment, pushing the door open, “Would you like to take a bath, sir? The water is ready.”
“Surprisingly polite.”
Pan Yinchuan was somewhat confused. Was this the treatment that everyone who was saved by Mr. Huai received?
Pan Yinchuan went to take a bath in a daze, then ate the meal prepared by the servant, which was delicious—much better than any food he had eaten before. After that, he put on the new clothes brought by the servant—
A white shirt, black trousers. His simple attire highlighted his youthful and inexperienced aura when he stood in front of the mirror.
“And then? What should I do?” Pan Yinchuan asked with a headache.
“You just need to wait here. Mr. Huai will be back at seven in the evening,” the servant replied.
Too strange.
But Pan Yinchuan didn’t have the energy to pursue anything else at the moment and hurriedly asked, “Can I make a phone call?”
“Sorry, without Mr. Huai’s permission, the phones in this mansion cannot make outgoing calls.”
Alright, he understood. Mr. Huai’s identity was special and his status was high. Such precautions were necessary to prevent information leaks.
Disappointed and restless, Pan Yinchuan just wanted to assure his parents of his safety.
The mansion was very large and luxurious, with a garden of over six hundred square meters. Beyond the garden, there was an endless lake view.
The servants didn’t restrict Pan Yinchuan’s freedom. They accompanied him to stroll in the garden, take a boat on the lake, and even opened up the home theater for him to watch two movies.
This inexplicable kindness made him feel uncomfortable all over.
Fortunately, Mr. Huai’s assistant returned first.
Seeing his condition, the assistant seemed quite satisfied. He nodded first and then said, “I didn’t have time to introduce myself yesterday. My surname is Zhang, and you can call me Assistant Zhang. I am Mr. Huai’s personal assistant.”
So he was not a secretary, but an assistant.
Pan Yinchuan corrected himself, “Assistant Zhang.”
“Yeah, it’s getting late. Have you had dinner yet? If not, let’s eat together. After dinner… hmm… you should take a bath.”
Pan Yinchuan couldn’t help interrupting Assistant Zhang, “Can I ask… why? Why am I the only one left here among those saved by Mr. Huai?”
“Oh, you’re curious why it’s you?”
“Yes.” Pan Yinchuan’s earlier words were probing, but he didn’t expect that he really was the only one enjoying this treatment!
Assistant Zhang chuckled, “Did I forget to tell you? Sorry, I’ve been so busy.”
He paused, then looked at Pan Yinchuan and said, “Well, because… you seem to have a healthy body.”
Pan Yinchuan’s expression stiffened. Soon, he recalled what he had seen online, that the dignitaries of Nanta City were said to enjoy raising people, much like raising livestock…
But judging from their tone of voice, they looked down on people from Nanta City. Why would they do something like this?
Assistant Zhang didn’t seem to intend to comfort him and went to prepare dinner.
Pan Yinchuan mechanically finished dinner, then was forced to take another bath, scrubbing himself even cleaner. The servant seemed eager to rush in and help him wash.
…I feel like a pig about to be roasted, Pan Yinchuan thought pessimistically.
After bathing, he changed into the same white shirt and black trousers, without any change. Except this time, he was given an additional buffer.
Assistant Zhang came in and personally helped him put it on, “It’s your first time wearing this. You may not understand many things about it. Let me explain…”
Pan Yinchuan instinctively moved back a bit, “This… is it expensive?”
“830,000. Well, it’s alright.”
It was actually more expensive than any high-end buffer Pan Yinchuan had seen!
Pan Yinchuan quickly waved his hand, “No, no, I can’t wear this.”
Assistant Zhang lowered his head. He was also an Alpha, but he seemed less imposing in front of Mr. Huai. Now, he revealed the typical dominance of an Alpha and said in a low voice, “No, you must wear it.”
“Otherwise… you’ll die.” Assistant Zhang finished the last few words in a solemn tone.
