FIMA Ch6: The Competition

“Hmph!” Upon hearing this, Shan Kai bit his teeth, his heart tightened slightly. The importance of physical exams for sports students is self-evident.

But just giving in like this would obviously damage his status as the big brother.

At this moment, he happened to notice that Xie Qingxiao was still in a daze. So, he immediately assumed that Guo Siyuan had a crush on Xie Qingxiao and was acting like a hot-blooded hero in front of the Omega while Shen Ting was away. He immediately sneered, “Meddling in other people’s business, do they even know you?”

“Take a guess?” Guo Siyuan squeezed his right hand slightly, his expression still unmoved.

Xie Qingxiao raised his eyes, fixedly looking at Guo Siyuan for a moment, then looked at Shan Kai’s group of cronies who were still eager to help, his heart tightening.

Thinking of Shen Ting’s resolute back when he left earlier, he felt somewhat resigned and with a bitter smile persuaded, “Guo Siyuan, this has nothing to do with you, … you should leave…”

He said this, but his heart thought otherwise, his demeanor clearly lacking, looking as if he was about to cry.

Guo Siyuan raised an eyebrow.

If he really turned around and left now, it was hard not to believe that Xie Qingxiao would immediately burst into tears.

While menacingly holding Shan Kai, he took two long strides to Xie Qingxiao, lifted his chin with his left hand, the soft and tender cheek flesh squeezing into a cute shape in his large hand.

“Alphas are naturally responsible for protecting Omegas. Be good, don’t say stupid things.”

The tone was domineering with a hint of teasing.

If it were an ordinary day, anyone daring to treat him like this would surely be beaten until they pooped. But at this moment, Xie Qingxiao felt his heart as if soaked in warm ocean water.

His eyes softened, murmuring the name of the person in front of him, “Guo Siyuan…”

“Guo Siyuan…” Shan Kai struggled while frowning.

“Ah, Guo Siyuan, why does this name sound so familiar?”

“It does seem familiar.”

“Wow, isn’t that the name on that banner?” Suddenly, one of Shan Kai’s cronies shouted.

Beichuan High School, being a private school, had always been seen as a gathering place for poor students by students from the provincial key high schools.

However, just like people, the more a school lacks something, the more it cares about it. Every year, Beichuan High School spends a lot of scholarship money to attract good students to embellish its reputation.

After the news of Guo Siyuan being admitted to Q University early came out at the end of last semester, this so-called private noble school completely changed its image, becoming like a nouveau riche. They hung a red banner that said “Warm congratulations to Guo Siyuan from Class 1, Grade 3 of our school for winning first prize in the XXX Olympiad and being admitted to XXXX University early” all over the school gates and surrounding walls, and it hasn’t been taken down until now.

Making sure that everyone who passes by sees this good news.

Of course, the ones who see it the most clearly are the students of Beichuan High School.

Most students, even if they don’t know what Guo Siyuan looks like, have the name deeply engraved in their hearts because they have to pass under that red banner every day.

Shan Kai glanced at Guo Siyuan, somewhat skeptically asked, “Are you Guo Siyuan, that Guo Siyuan from Class 1 of our school?”

Guo Siyuan turned around and lazily replied, “I suppose so!”

Shan Kai was stunned for a moment, immediately complained, “Even good students get into fights?”

Guo Siyuan coldly said, “And you still lose to a good student like me.”

Xie Qingxiao glanced at him, finding this person surprisingly humorous.

“……” Shan Kai.

Shan Kai’s family was in business and had some money. He had gotten into Beichuan High School by paying a bribe.

His father hadn’t had the means to study when he was young, so he was particularly strict with him, hoping he would become a cultured person. Shan Kai knew his father’s bottom line; he could fool around, but he couldn’t mess up school or the college entrance exam.

The whole school knew Guo Siyuan was the treasure of Beichuan High School. If something happened to him, the principal would likely send Shan Kai straight home. If that happened, his father might not kill him, but a severe beating and being hung up for a whipping would be unavoidable.

Thinking this, Shan Kai glared fiercely at Guo Siyuan. “Considering you’re Guo Siyuan, I’ll let go of the fact that you hit someone with a basketball earlier, but Xie Qingxiao must stay. You can leave.”

Guo Siyuan looked at him, puzzled.

He tightened his grip on Shan Kai’s right hand, adding some force. “Do you understand who’s in control here?”

“What’s all this about knives and fish? I don’t even like fish; I only like beef.” Shan Kai responded, even more puzzled.

“……” Guo Siyuan.

“……” Xie Qingxiao felt that if this continued, his sadness would be overshadowed by the absurdity.

“Hey, you guys, why aren’t you going home or eating? What are you doing standing here?”

The security guard’s voice came through a small speaker he was holding.

Huo Yi came running over from the gate, grabbing Xie Qingxiao. “Qingxiao, I think I just saw that bastard Shen Ting leave through the security office window. He left and just left you here?”

Xie Qingxiao’s previously softened emotions plunged back into a deep abyss.

He forced a smile as if he didn’t care. “Ha, who knows?”

Huo Yi opened his mouth but didn’t continue asking.

For some reason, he felt his good friend had become somewhat strange and a bit frightening.

On the other side, facing the suddenly appearing security guard.

Guo Siyuan exerted force with his right hand, pulling Shan Kai closer, and patted his shoulder amicably. “We were just discussing strategies for the upcoming basketball game, right?”

Shan Kai and his cronies had been troublemaking for so long that the idea of complaining to an adult never crossed their minds, so they immediately nodded in agreement.

Shan Kai even haughtily said, “Old man, you want to control even our basketball games?”

“What’s wrong with loving sports and exercising?” he retorted.

“Who wants to manage you!” The security guard was also a bit angry.

However, despite his words, he stayed put, clearly intending to remain until the group dispersed.

Shan Kai frowned irritably. Today was truly unlucky; they couldn’t play ball or fight.

At this moment, a deep, magnetic male voice rang out.

“Indeed, since we’re on the basketball court, we should solve problems with basketball.”

As he spoke, Guo Siyuan released Shan Kai’s wrist, rolled up his school uniform sleeves, revealing muscular forearms.

The whole action looked smooth and stylish.

Standing nearby, Xie Qingxiao and Huo Yi both felt their hearts skip a beat at his poise and confidence.

Shan Kai, finally free, couldn’t help but laugh out loud.

Although he wasn’t on the school basketball team, he knew all the good players from grades one to three. Besides the team, only Shen Ting could match his skills, which is why he disliked Shen Ting.

This guy didn’t even know where he came from. He might have some strength, but basketball isn’t that simple. Don’t underestimate it…

“Playing ball is good, playing ball is good,” the security guard echoed.

He didn’t know Guo Siyuan but had some understanding of Shan Kai and his cronies.

Although Shan Kai’s group seemed at a disadvantage now, who knew if they had any tricks up their sleeves? If something happened, what then? Since it could be resolved with basketball, it was best to avoid further trouble.

High school students have tight schedules. How bad would it be to disrupt their studies?

Guo Siyuan stared at Shan Kai’s group, his voice deep. “What, don’t you dare?”

“Ha… challenging me to basketball?” Shan Kai rubbed his wrist, sneering. “Kid, don’t cry and call me daddy later.”

Guo Siyuan smirked slightly but didn’t respond. Trading harsh words with a high schooler wasn’t his style.

A moment later, Shan Kai casually bounced a basketball, looking at Guo Siyuan. “Let’s start simple, a three-point contest. Can you handle it, oh renowned scholar?”

With that, he stepped back to the three-point line.

After a moment of preparation, he jumped, and the basketball hit the front of the rim, spun slightly, and then smoothly fell through the net.

Immediately, there was applause. Shan Kai’s cronies cheered excitedly, “Competing with Brother Kai in basketball, what a… a shooting guard at Lu Ban’s door…”

“Shut up, you idiot! Do you even know the saying? That’s using a broadsword at Lu Ban’s door…”

“You two are embarrassing the basketball team. It’s a saying, showing off your skill with an axe at Lu Ban’s door!” the last one nearly shouted.

Shan Kai slightly turned his head, giving Guo Siyuan a mocking look full of contempt and disdain.

Guo Siyuan ignored him.

He took a few steps back, also standing at the three-point line, holding a basketball in his large hand, gently bouncing it, the “thump thump” sound softly echoing as he eyed the nearby basket.

He looked like a long-hidden sword about to be unsheathed, making one most fearful in that moment.

Regardless of whether he made the shot, Xie Qingxiao felt a great satisfaction welling up from within.

Suddenly, the bouncing stopped.

Guo Siyuan lightly pushed off the ground with his calves, leaping up, his upper body forming a bow, his long, powerful arm gently releasing, sending the basketball in a beautiful arc through the air towards the hoop.

The next moment, with a “bang,” the basketball hit the ground.

Only the gently trembling net under the hoop proved that a ball had just passed through.

“Fuck, a nothing-but-net three-pointer…” someone couldn’t help but exclaim.

Shan Kai’s face turned extremely ugly as he glared fiercely at the person who had just spoken, then said to Gu Siyuan, “Three out of five shots, there’s more to come. Let’s continue.”

“Yeah, there are still four shots left, right?” One of the cronies reacted immediately, righteously saying, “This guy was really lucky.”

“Yeah, yeah, this guy got lucky…”

“Come on, come on, Brother Kai, beat this guy!”

Listening to this chatter, Shan Kai felt somewhat relieved.
