YA Ch99: The Gift
During the lunch break, both of them seemed preoccupied.
Ming Yan lay on the bed, thinking about the invitation.
Lu Yu leaned against the headboard, tapping on a virtual keyboard, continuing to write his little smutty book. He currently had no other way to verify his state of mind, so he could only rely on inspiration to judge. After typing out a lively passage with a flurry of keystrokes, Lu Yu let out a long sigh of relief. Fortunately, it was still there.
Seeing him pause, Ming Yan asked, “Are you going to accept Professor Li’s invitation?”
Lu Yu turned his head to look at those beautiful, worried eyes and asked back, “Do you want me to go?” If Yan-ge had something he didn’t want Lu Yu to know, he wouldn’t dig into it.
Ming Yan frowned and, after a long silence, said, “I can’t decide this for you.”
Children who have never met their biological parents would always yearn to see their blood relatives. It’s a fundamental part of a person’s life, holding answers that ordinary psychologists cannot provide. Only by meeting them can one fill the missing piece in their heart, regardless of whether the outcome is good or bad.
However, Ming Yan felt reluctant; he feared Lu Yu would be hurt, especially since he currently had the mindset of an eighteen-year-old. And that mother, clearly, wasn’t a typical one; her attitude was quite strange.
Lu Yu thought for a moment and said, “Then let’s meet.” He needed an answer, after all.
Who is the mother, who is the father, why did they abandon him, and why were they looking for him now? If Mitchell really was his mother, they had to meet. Once they met and he understood everything, his heart wouldn’t be so easily pierced by lies.
Ming Yan reached out and touched his face.
Lu Yu grasped that slender hand, pressed it against his face, and rubbed it firmly, whispering, “I want to see her. I want to know.”
Ming Yan softly said, “Alright, but remember, you were just a fragile and innocent baby back then. Whatever entanglements she had with your biological father, it wasn’t your fault. Even if, at the very worst, it was a forced pregnancy, that would be the fault of the perpetrator, not you. Understand?”
It was cruel to say, but Lu Yu needed this precaution.
Lu Yu looked at the concern in those watery eyes and nodded, leaning down to lay his head on Ming Yan’s chest, snuggling up affectionately. He could never tire of hearing these comforting words. If he ever returned to being Lu Dayu, hearing such warm, gentle words would be enough for him to die without regrets.
Taking a deep breath of Ming Yan’s warmth, Lu Yu stared at the slightly parted collar he had nudged open. As he looked, he suddenly had a flash of inspiration. He grabbed one of Ming Yan’s legs and hung it over his shoulder.
Ming Yan’s face turned bright red instantly. “What are you doing? It’s midday! Stop fooling around!”
Lu Yu innocently examined the leg with curiosity, his eyes clear and innocent. “I want to see what the angle looks like in this position.”
He realized Ming Yan’s legs were quite long, contrary to his imagination where he could only place his ankle on his shoulder. In reality, he could hook the bend of Ming Yan’s knee directly over his shoulder.
Lu Yu pressed down on both sides, tested the strength, and did a push-up while pressing down on Ming Yan, exclaiming in delight, “Wow, Yan-ge, your flexibility is amazing! Can you do a full split?”
Ming Yan’s entire neck flushed red. He pushed him away. “Get off.” Doing push-ups on him through their pajamas in such a position—it was too embarrassing.
Lu Yu kissed the exposed calf and exclaimed, “I know how to write it now!” Then he put down that long leg and was about to return to typing.
Ming Yan felt a surge of inexplicable anger rising to his head. He hooked his knee around Lu Yu’s waist and said through gritted teeth, “Are you doing all this research just to write?”
This made him start to doubt his own charm. Who presses their lover into all kinds of positions, only to rush off excitedly to write 10,000 words?
Lu Yu, stunned by the leg clamping his waist, swallowed and said, “Of course not.” Then he sensibly pinned down the leg coiled around his waist. Today, he wouldn’t be a fool; with the carrot right in front of him, he had to take a good bite.
Ming Yan belatedly began to regret his impulsive action. Now, not only was his neck red, but even his toes felt like they were burning. He struggled to withdraw his leg, thinking that with just a short lunch break, there wasn’t enough time to indulge.
But there was no escape now.
In the afternoon livestream, Ming Yan seemed a bit out of it.
Hua Wenyuan quietly asked his second uncle, “What’s wrong with Aunt?”
Lu Yu said proudly, “He was acting up, so I taught him a lesson.”
Hua Wenyuan frowned and said disapprovingly, “Second Uncle, how can you bully someone just because you’re stronger…”
Before he could finish, his aunt kicked his second uncle and warned in a low voice, “Don’t talk nonsense in front of the kid.”
Hua Wenyuan: “…” He couldn’t continue his admonishment.
The livestream comments instantly filled with laughter.
[“Don’t talk nonsense in front of the kid.”]
[These two have stopped holding back in front of others lately. Han Di Ba Yu, how, how, how can you face your straight male readers?]
At the beginning of the livestream, many people didn’t believe these two were genuinely married. After two weeks of streaming, no one could say that anymore, though some straight male readers were still struggling with it. But after today’s stream, even they couldn’t hold out any longer.
So, they started to find excuses for Han Di Ba Yu.
[He writes non-CP (non-couple) stories, so what does it matter if he’s straight or not? I bet he’s not the only male writer who’s not straight in the male-centric genre; you guys just don’t know it!]
[I don’t care if Han Di Ba Yu is straight or not; just don’t lead our Hua Baby astray! Aaaaaah!”]
Of course, the Hua Baby wasn’t being led astray. In front of twenty million viewers, Lu Yu gave him a strict emotional education, instructing him to stay clean and avoid entanglements with anyone—whether men, women, the elderly, the young, flowers, birds, fish, insects, grass, wood, mountains, or stones.
“A wise man does not enter the river of love. The lonely king rules the entire country!”
After educating their third cub, Lu Yu happily ended the stream and took his wife out on a date.
Ming Yan said, “Since you’re going to meet her, prepare a gift. It wouldn’t do to be impolite.”
So, after work, the two went shopping for a meeting gift. However, Ming Yan felt a bit sore in his waist and couldn’t walk much, so the date wouldn’t last long.
Lu Yu tried to carry him, but he was sternly refused.
After some tussling in the mall, Lu Yu, reluctant to let Ming Yan walk too much, looked around and suddenly smiled, “I think I know what to give.”
With that, he pulled Ming Yan straight to the RZ store.
Despite his reluctance to give money to the vampire capitalist RZ, he bought a “Seven Seas” bracelet.
Looking at the brilliant sapphire bracelet in the box, Lu Yu said softly, “This is the crystallization of our love. If she wants to acknowledge me, then… I can use the bracelet to introduce her to my lover.”
As he spoke, Lu Yu’s eyes sparkled, as clear and bright as the jewels on the black velvet.
Ming Yan touched Lu Yu’s face and smiled slightly. “Alright.”
The designer personally wrote “To Ms. Mitchell” in cursive on the accompanying gift card and placed it in the little box tied with a bow.
