RBNR Ch27: You are already my Omega
He was locked away.
Qin Bao had a job scheduled for the next day. After calming down, he yelled in his room for half a day, but not even Mama Tao came. He was so furious he paced in circles inside the room again.
This time, the old master had made a serious move.
The old gentleman had someone toss a bottle of medicated oil into Qin Bao’s room, and the three daily meals were delivered punctually—keeping him well-fed and well-cared for—stating that Qin Bao could only come out whenever he sorted out his thoughts.
In all of Qin Bao’s eighteen years of life, this was the very first time his grandfather had ever beaten him, and beaten him this brutally.
He took off his clothes and looked in the mirror, seeing several crisscrossing bruises across his back.
He really has plenty of strength!
His body ached, and his heart felt deeply aggrieved. If a job had to be bailed on, so be it; he was willing to shoulder the consequences, but he was determined to fight for this point of pride to the very end.
His life was his own. He would never allow anyone to manipulate him, nor would he let himself end up in a position where he couldn’t make his own decisions.
He hurriedly got in touch with Brother Lu, explaining that he might have to miss his upcoming work, and only breathed a sigh of relief after learning it would be handled properly.
“What about the upcoming arrangements? The itinerary for Danlong clashes slightly with the one the following day. I asked Lucy, and she said their team has a private jet flying over that night with an empty seat to spare. I can fly over by myself first, and it doesn’t matter if you arrive later or head straight back to the country.”
Lucy was also a very famous model, and Qin Bao had a decent relationship with her.
Brother Lu, however, hesitated: “Ah, about that, Bao… the Danlong show has already been canceled.”
Qin Bao didn’t pay it much mind: “Is that so? Then there’s no need for me to hitch a ride on the jet. I’ll just head straight to the second day’s itinerary; I’ll let Lucy know.”
“Alright,” Brother Lu said tactfully. “Bao, actually… you don’t need to go to the second day’s itinerary either.”
Qin Bao said, “Are you worried I won’t be able to get out? You don’t need to stress over that, I’ll figure out a way to break out.”
Brother Lu had no choice but to speak the truth: “All of your upcoming work has been canceled.”
Qin Bao frowned: “What do you mean?”
Brother Lu replied, “It’s an order from above. Leo said that since your contract is about to expire anyway, the company won’t be taking on any more jobs for you before then.”
Qin Bao had skimmed through the contract; the terms SISI offered were indeed very generous, and their future planning for him was solid. He only had a few minor questions regarding the artist management portion.
“Are they afraid I won’t renew, wanting to wait until after I sign?” Qin Bao asked. “What’s the company lawyer’s phone number? Or have him reach out to me.”
Brother Lu hemmed and hawed, only revealing the real reason after Qin Bao grew completely impatient: “Actually, the old master reached out to them, so the company doesn’t intend to renew your contract anymore.”
Qin Bao froze instantly.
He had never imagined this would be the reason, or that the old master could truly be this ruthless.
Once the reality sank in, Qin Bao said, “I’m of age now. I don’t need a guardian’s signature; I can make the call on all the terms myself—”
Brother Lu cried out in sorrow: “I know that! But you’re different! Even if you dare to disregard the old gentleman’s wishes, we certainly don’t! Losing you is a massive loss for the company—Leo’s hair has practically turned white from anxiety these past few days!”
Qin Bao gritted his teeth: “Then we won’t renew. Brother Lu, let’s go strike out on our own. I’ll pay your salary. Or just like we discussed last time, we can open a studio and you can manage it.”
Brother Lu was tempted, but after hesitating, he said, “There won’t be any way out for us. Even if we go independent, even if we run abroad—as long as we remain within the Alliance, we won’t ever get any good opportunities.”
Qin Bao: “I have money. Even without work, I won’t mistreat you.”
Brother Lu said, “I know you won’t mistreat me, but I’ve been in this industry for so long. It wasn’t easy to finally stabilize and build up all this experience and connections… Entering middle age, I really don’t dare take gambles like a young person anymore.”
“To put it bluntly, you’re just scared,” Qin Bao said loudly. “Every single time, you’re scared! The moment my grandfather speaks up, you turn into a turtle shrinking into its shell!”
Brother Lu didn’t argue back.
Only after a long silence did he say: “Let it go, Qin Bao. Focus on your studies. The old master is right—even if you don’t marry in the future, he wouldn’t let you stay in this circle for long sooner or later anyway. This isn’t the first time; last time over the weight issue, we almost had our contract terminated. Our industry… for a family like yours, truly isn’t considered a proper path.”
…
The old master’s punishment had crossed the line, wiping out Qin Bao’s work in one fell swoop and ruthlessly suffocating his dreams.
He could touch anything else, but he absolutely could not touch this. Left with no recourse, Qin Bao could only refuse to eat, going on a hunger strike.
The old master grew even more incensed. He ordered that the meals no longer be cleared away, leaving the dishes sitting right there, only to be replaced with fresh ones once he finished them. If Qin Bao got too hungry to bear it and had to eat spoiled leftovers, it would be his own doing—in short, as long as he didn’t starve to death, it was fine.
Qin Bao was incapable of yielding at a time like this.
When grandfather and grandson dug their heels in, no one could persuade either of them. After an unknown number of days in this standoff, Qin Bao woke up in a muddle, sensing someone sitting by the edge of the bed.
It was very late; the lights in the room were off, leaving only the garden lamps filtering through the leafy shadows to cast patterns across the ceiling.
The figure was tall and broad, carrying a very faint, crisp fragrance. In the dim light, Qin Bao could feel the other person watching him in complete silence.
Recognizing who it was, Qin Bao’s heart swelled with both sorrow and bitterness, laced with an unmistakable surge of fury.
Feng Chengyu… how did he get in?
As expected, was it because of that betrothal that his grandfather granted him special treatment?
What did he come here for?
Seeing that Qin Bao was awake, Feng Chengyu spoke in a low voice: “I’m sorry. That day, I mistakenly assumed you knew and had feelings for me.”
Finally hearing an apology, it felt as though he had at last been understood a little. Even if this person was Feng Chengyu, Qin Bao’s anger receded somewhat, and he couldn’t stop the heat rising in his eyes: “What right did you have to assume that?”
Qin Bao’s voice was hoarse and his tone sounded fierce, but because he had no strength left, it came across as rather soft.
Like a cat scratching at someone—it showed claws, but it didn’t hurt.
The two exchanged only these two sentences before the room sank back into silence.
Why did things unfold the way they did that day? Should they blame Feng Chengyu’s pheromones, Qin Bao’s failure to inhale his suppressants, or that “potentially very high” compatibility rate?
Both of them knew in their hearts that the primary culprit was a momentary lapse into impulse.
Qin Bao spoke again: “Feng Chengyu, if every single encounter in the world required a marriage, wouldn’t everything descend into chaos? Without love as a foundation, how could it ever last? People would be clamoring for divorce every waking second.”
Feng Chengyu said, “Perhaps after we marry, we could get along very harmoniously.”
Qin Bao averted his face: “Impossible. I won’t be a tool.”
Feng Chengyu fell silent for a while, and then asked, “If the person that night hadn’t been me, but someone else, would you have gone to fetch your suppressants?”
“Depends on their looks.” Qin Bao spoke against his conscience, deliberately making light of the matter. “When stimulated by pheromones, as long as they suit my taste, it’s just enjoying the moment; there’s no need to hold back. Could it be that doing adult things when both sides are consenting requires some kind of moral evaluation beforehand?”
As his eyes gradually adjusted to the darkness, Qin Bao could vaguely make out the room’s layout, but he didn’t turn back around. Afraid of exposing the secret affection buried in his heart, he made no attempt to clearly view Feng Chengyu’s face.
His chest ached with a swelling heaviness. A whimsical thought suddenly crossed his mind: if only he had magic.
If he had magic, he could make the other man approach him purely out of love—sending those flowers out of genuine affection—so that his fluttering heart wouldn’t be a misunderstanding, and wouldn’t look so utterly foolish.
Or, he could use magic to erase their betrothal, turning them into complete strangers. If they crossed paths one day, he would be willing to pursue Feng Chengyu openly, just like when he boldly ran to ask Feng Chu back then; he had never lacked courage.
The unbearable part was that everything had been wrong from the very start—unequal and predetermined.
He knew all too well that if he weren’t the designated fiancé, the ascetic watch on Feng Chengyu’s wrist would have been worn for someone else, and the man wouldn’t have spared him a single glance.
“You merely look passable,” Qin Bao continued, trying to salvage his own pride. “Otherwise, it really might not have been you.”
Just as he spoke, a pair of large hands suddenly slipped into the quilt. The next moment, his body felt weightless as Feng Chengyu scooped him up.
“What are you doing?”
Qin Bao struggled in fury. Capitalizing on his tall frame and long legs, his flailing created quite a ruckus.
Helplessly, he hadn’t eaten for days, only having scavenged a few toffees of unknown expiration dates from a corner. His body was terribly weak, and the Alpha’s strength was simply too overwhelming; with just a slight exertion, he was firmly subdued and pressed down onto the other man’s thighs.
“You are already my Omega,” Feng Chengyu said. “No matter what else you want to do with other people, or where you want to go hunting for prospects, you can only dream about it.”
Feng Chengyu’s tone leaned cold, and his words were utterly blunt.
At this moment, Feng Chengyu had reverted to the persona he displayed before the public—just like the scent of narcissus on his body: aloof, proud, unapproachable, and unbending for anyone.
He was no longer the Feng Chengyu who cracked jokes and teased him in private.
Being held and controlled like this, the humiliating burn flushed over Qin Bao’s face once more.
“Bah,” he yelled. “What do you mean, your Omega? Getting bitten once makes me your Omega? In your dreams—”
Feng Chengyu pressed down firmly on the back of his head, pulling him down forcefully to seal his lips.
Forced to lower his head to accept the kiss, Qin Bao pushed desperately against Feng Chengyu’s shoulders. The other man didn’t budge an inch, infuriating Qin Bao until he trembled from head to toe, spewing muffled curses.
Unfortunately, through his garbled scolding, not a single word came out clearly; instead, Feng Chengyu seized the opportunity to pry his teeth apart.
The moment their tongues met, an electric jolt surged uncontrollably down his spine. Qin Bao refused to give in and bit down hard. Just as the metallic tang of blood invaded his mouth, the scent of pheromones spilled out with overwhelming thickness.
Locked in the room these past few days, Qin Bao had had no need to inhale suppressants, much less wear a gland patch.
Almost simultaneously, he felt something burst inside his mind; his own pheromones released as if possessing a consciousness of their own, desperately entangling themselves with the other man’s scent.
Fucking shameless rogue!
Seducing people like this again!
His body grew continuously hot and limp, the sense of impending danger at his nape spiking sharply, yet his willpower to struggle faded by the second.
However, the anticipated pain did not arrive.
Feng Chengyu kissed him thoroughly from inside out several times over before finally letting go.
Afterward, he unhurriedly kneaded the scent gland at the nape of his neck, as if holding back some overwhelming urge and using this gesture to soothe it.
“You are already my Omega. Is that clear enough?”
With their pheromones tangled together, Qin Bao could only pant heavily in anger.
Their foreheads rested against each other. In the darkness, he could see the other man’s eyes growing increasingly dark and unfathomable.
“Acknowledge the reality, and learn to accept it,” Feng Chengyu said, his voice equally deep. “I will do everything in my power to give you the freedom you desire.”
Qin Bao’s head was still buzzing loudly; incapable of formulating an answer, he could only glare at the man.
As if stroking a ruffled pet, Feng Chengyu released the nape of his neck and moved his hand downward, smoothing along the boy’s spine stroke by stroke: “Marry me, and you can continue modeling, shooting commercials, or filming the movies you want to film. I will shoulder the pressure from the family, and I will convince your grandfather to let you pursue your dreams.”
His tone turned gentle once more.
“Once you grow stronger, no one will ever be able to dictate your choices or interfere with your future again. When that time comes, you can do whatever you wish.”
“Think it over. In this deal, you will definitely not be the one losing out.”
