RBNR Ch10: You are a kind-hearted god!
At eleven o’clock at night, Qin Bao turned off the light and heard a few meows from the base of the wall, like an old tomcat with a stuck throat.
Qin Bao: “…”
He opened the window and leaned out, vaguely seeing Tu Yisen’s shadow. The other waved at him and meowed more enthusiastically.
Halfway down the window ledge, he reluctantly took out his phone and sent a warning text: [Stop meowing!]
Indeed, not as reliable as Shan Yiming!
Tu Yisen immediately replied: [I was trying to tell you not to come down! I couldn’t find the ladder!]
Qin Bao quickly figured out what had happened.
The tool ladder had always been kept next to the gardener’s tool room. He even saw it when he got home yesterday. It must have been removed because the old man anticipated their escape plan.
Too late.
He had already climbed down the second-floor ledge to the roof of the tea room on the first floor.
The roof tiles were mossy, making it slippery. Qin Bao moved quickly.
Tu Yisen watched from below, heart in his throat, as Qin Bao navigated the roof to the wall.
Hearing some dog barks not far away, Tu Yisen panicked and gestured with his arms crossed, telling him not to jump.
The wall was three meters high. As a kid, just looking down made Qin Bao dizzy. Now, it didn’t seem so scary. Seeing him insist on jumping, Tu Yisen had to give up the crossed arms and opened his arms to catch him.
The two fell together, Tu Yisen nearly spitting blood from the impact, his face turning pale: “If Grandpa still says you’re too thin… I’ll let him try this.”
Qin Bao, gritting his teeth in pain, said, “You call yourself an athlete?”
The noise wasn’t small, and the barking got closer.
They fell silent, got up, and sprinted away.
Tu Yisen had a car waiting outside. When the driver asked where to go, Tu Yisen directly gave the name of a five-star hotel. He had a room there for drinking and card games with his school team.
Soon after entering the hotel room, Tu Yisen’s dad called, asking if Qin Bao was with him. Tu Yisen naturally denied it.
Not long after, his father called too.
The Tu family was a typical AO paired male parents household, both very strict. His military officer Alpha father was harder to fool, but Tu Yisen still pretended: “Huh? Qin Bao? …I don’t know. I’m already asleep.”
After hanging up, he winked at Qin Bao: “Nice, right? If I get caught, remember to visit my grave on Qingming Festival.”
Qin Bao nodded: “Don’t worry, if your dad kills you, I’ll be the first to handle your burial.”
Tu Yisen asked what Qin Bao’s plan was. Qin Bao, just thinking about running away, hadn’t planned that far ahead, sighing: “We’ll just take it one step at a time until Grandpa calms down.”
Tu Yisen patted his shoulder in consolation but didn’t stay long, needing to be back in his bed to pretend he was sleeping.
Qin Bao only stayed in the hotel for one night. The next day at noon, the hotel notified him to check out. Tu Yisen called, stammering that his card had been frozen, and he couldn’t come out.
Qin Bao had some money in his phone account, but as a minor, the hotel, like it was bewitched, insisted on not extending the stay without an adult ID.
Still couldn’t reach Shan Yiming, like he’d disappeared.
Helpless, Qin Bao called Brother Lu, thinking he might as well stay in the dorm, saving money and being convenient for work.
But it seemed Grandpa had already spoken to Brother Lu, who unusually suggested: “Bao, how about resting at home for a while?”
Qin Bao was annoyed: “What do you mean?”
“I don’t want to either, but there are so many jobs lined up. This is killing me, but I really don’t dare poke the tiger’s head.” Brother Lu was almost crying, “It’s all my fault. Blinded by pig oil, I focused too much on measurements and didn’t take good care of you…”
“Stop making excuses, Lu Weishu, you’re just a coward!”
Hanging up, Qin Bao angrily paced around the room, vowing to switch to a more ambitious agent once he was out.
After pacing, he felt more and more anxious.
He hated himself for not putting on a shirt while drinking water at home, and hated himself for not being an adult, unable to solve such a small problem.
The phone kept vibrating.
Mr. Qin’s number constantly appeared on the screen, the ringtone like a chant.
He felt suffocated.
Fortunately, even though Tu Yisen couldn’t come out, he found someone to help.
Qin Bao had only met Feng Chu twice, not familiar enough to visit his home, so Feng Chu’s invitation surprised him.
Feng Chu, having messed around with the school team in this house many times, came over familiarly and warmly said, “No worries, the house is empty anyway. Stay here for a couple of days while you figure things out.”
Qin Bao, feeling embarrassed to accept, politely declined, “No, thank you. I’ll think of another way myself.”
“What other way? Are you really going to give up your career and bow down to your family?” Feng Chu said regretfully. “I’ve been keeping an eye on your recent developments, and the future looks so bright! Losing you would mean the runway loses such a beautiful sight!”
Qin Bao’s face felt hot, but he found it very reasonable. He had indeed been quite popular lately.
Feng Chu said, “Everyone faces difficulties at times, and we’re all friends. If I ever need help, I wouldn’t hesitate to ask you.”
“Well… no need for thanks,” Qin Bao stopped being coy, the fallen prince wrote a check, “Next time you need something, just ask.”
*
They called a cab and left immediately.
Before leaving, Qin Bao made sure to remember the name of the hotel well. The guest room manager was so intimidated by his gaze that they felt uncomfortable and secretly lamented their bad luck for having to deal with such a big shot.
Halfway down the road, Feng Chu mentioned that the house belonged to Feng Chengyu, and Qin Bao was shocked.
Is he crazy?
Sitting in the seat felt like sitting on pins and needles; it was awkward whether to stay or leave.
“My brother went to the mountains and won’t be back until next week.”
Feng Chu smiled.
“Besides, why would you and he be so formal with each other!”
Is this really a matter of formality?
This was a completely unrelated, unfamiliar person!
Feng Chu had no sense of boundaries, bringing anyone to his brother’s house and said to Qin Bao, “My brother is very generous. When he was abroad, I often brought classmates over to play.”
Qin Bao: “…”
You do realize it was “when he was abroad.”
Seeing his hesitation, Feng Chu added, “Don’t worry, I’ve already informed him, no need to feel guilty.”
Qin Bao was a bit surprised, “He knows I’m going to his house?”
Feng Chu: “Of course, he’s very welcoming.”
Why would he be welcoming?
Thinking of the other person’s cold and proud face, coupled with the octopus balls and now borrowing his house, Qin Bao was bewildered; he really didn’t want the other person’s help.
The house was in a great location, surrounded by a famous commercial area yet quiet and secluded, with a private artificial lake.
After entering, Feng Chu went to pour water and greeted him, “Make yourself at home.”
It was impossible to feel at home; Qin Bao felt uncomfortable everywhere.
Why did he keep getting involved with Feng Chengyu lately?
The interior design of the house was by a famous designer, with a style that was youthful yet steady and grand. Whenever Feng Chu brought classmates over, he had to keep an eye on them because he always felt they didn’t fit in and was afraid they would ruin the white sofa and expensive carpet.
When he came out after pouring water, he saw Qin Bao standing in the center like a swan, his tall and beautiful profile looking like a delicate porcelain figure, making one feel that the sofa wasn’t white enough, and the carpet wasn’t soft enough, wanting to lay several more layers of carpet for him.
Seeing Feng Chu come out with a strange smile, Qin Bao cleared his throat and asked, “Uh, he really won’t be back these days?”
It would be quite awkward to bump into him.
“He won’t be back!” Feng Chu nodded, afraid Qin Bao might be disappointed and added, “He might finish his work early and come back by the weekend!”
Qin Bao had never been so downcast in his life.
Now that he was here, he could only bear the humiliation.
“Tell him I’ll leave as soon as I find a solution. Thank him for letting me stay.”
“What’s the rush, stay as long as you want.” Feng Chu showed him to the guest room, explained how to use the household items, and said, “Except for my brother’s documents, there’s nothing off-limits in the house. Feel free to use anything. If you want to smoke, there’s a small balcony outside the dining room.”
“Hmm.” Qin Bao said with restraint, “I don’t smoke, and I don’t want to use anything. I won’t touch anything.”
But soon, he was proven wrong.
Feng Chu had to go home that night, and before leaving, asked if Qin Bao needed anything to eat so he could buy it. No delivery service could come here, and with his brother out of town, the housekeeper was also on leave, leaving only frozen food at home.
Qin Bao said he could cook, then burned the pot.
He had seen Aunt Tao cook at home and seen Li Nanyue boiling chicken breasts in the dorm, thinking it wouldn’t be hard to boil some frozen dumplings.
But without experience, he put too little water. After turning on the heat and playing a game, he came back to find the pot dry and red hot, the wooden handle scorched black.
Fortunately, the gas stove had automatically turned off, leaving a mess.
Now Qin Bao had no choice but to stop being a transparent person. After last time eating someone else’s octopus balls without thanking, this time he directly burned their kitchen.
It was really a bit much.
He resigned himself and took a photo, sending it to Feng Chu: [What’s your brother’s WeChat? I might need to apologize.]
Feng Chu was startled by the photo: [Are you okay, Qin Bao?!]
Qin Bao: [I’m fine, just burned my fingers a bit, already ran them under cold water.]
Feng Chu: [That’s good, don’t get hurt anymore! The pot isn’t important, really!]
After Qin Bao put the cooled pot in the sink, Feng Chu’s message came again: [… Well, my brother doesn’t have WeChat.]
Qin Bao couldn’t believe it.
Not even a caveman, how could he not have WeChat? Doesn’t want to add me? That’s fine, but why such a ridiculous excuse!
He could only send Feng Chu: [Ask him how much the pot cost, I’ll pay for it.]
Feng Chu replied “No need to pay,” and was getting scolded by his brother, feeling wronged and arguing, “Brother, I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have acted on my own, but Xiao Tang… Qin Bao is really pitiful, he’s at the end of his rope. I thought since you weren’t home anyway, we’ll be a family sooner or later, who else would help him if not us?”
Feng Chengyu was walking with his secretary on the mountaintop, where a ski resort was being planned, and the city was conducting an inspection.
On the phone, this matter gave him a headache. He asked Feng Chu, “Where is he?”
Feng Chu said, “At home… he was a bit reluctant, I had to tell him you agreed for him to stay.”
Feng Chengyu felt his temple throbbing.
“You don’t know how hard it is for him, he puts in so much effort, but the Qin family doesn’t support him at all.”
“Did he tell you that?”
Feng Chu was stumped, “… Not exactly, it was Tu Yisen who told me.”
“…”
“Really! Qin Bao was originally learning street dance outside, and his teacher happened to know someone in the industry, suggesting he try modeling. He’s two years younger than me, but back then he dared to hide it from his family, sneaking out to train during street dance classes. Training in posture, catwalk, his body was covered in bruises, his feet full of blisters, he endured it all without telling anyone, and the first time he participated in a competition, he won first place! He was the new model champion that year!”
This guy recited Qin Bao’s story like he knew it by heart; he must have asked around a lot behind the scenes.
He had even bragged about Qin Bao’s autograph, a true fan.
“Hmm,” Feng Chengyu’s tone was very calm, “And then?”
“I know, you’re going to say success doesn’t come by chance, all the hard work behind it is very tough. But it’s too hard, he doesn’t even dare to eat properly, doesn’t get his family’s understanding, and is forced to give up. Who would want to be this skinny if not for their career…”
Feng Chengyu didn’t say anything.
Feng Chu couldn’t guess what he was thinking and continued to mutter, “Even if he’s not your person, he’s my friend. Can’t you just pretend I brought a regular classmate over to play? Such a beautiful Omega is very dangerous out there…”
Secretary: “Mr. Feng?”
Feng Chengyu signaled the secretary not to wait, as if adjusting his emotions. After a while, he said to Feng Chu, “Next time, don’t act without permission.”
Feng Chu got the approval and flatteringly said, “Understood! Brother, you’re the kind-hearted god!”
