LABMY CH37

After the college entrance exam ended, before Jian Yuanbai could take Wei Zhenge for hot pot, he first had to deal with attending a class reunion.

Since several classmates were leaving the city the day after the exam, the gathering was organized early.

Although Jian Yuanbai had waited outside the exam venue for an entire day, because this was a class reunion, he could only wait in the hotel lobby.

Wei Zhenge sat at the table, wearing a relaxed smile as he watched the boys around him shouting and fooling around. Some were more outgoing, grabbing the microphone and singing on stage. Everyone had a bit of alcohol, releasing the pressure and hardship they had endured over the past three years.

Tong Lerong walked over with a wine glass in hand, wearing a simple dress and a gentle smile. “We’re graduating. Let’s have a drink together.”

“Can we talk on the rooftop?”

Wei Zhenge thought for a moment. Although he more or less knew what she wanted to say, he still followed her up.

Tong Lerong’s face was slightly flushed. Without being too shy, she spoke directly, “I like you.”

“I know your grades. You’ll definitely get into the best university. If you agree to be with me, I’ll go wherever you go. If I can’t get in, I’ll attend a university in the same city.”

“If you don’t agree, I won’t bother you,” she paused, “My family wants me to study abroad.”

Wei Zhenge replied, “Sorry, I already like someone.”

“You’re a great girl—smart and beautiful. You should pursue your own life.”

He raised his glass and clinked it with hers. “Happy graduation.”

Tong Lerong didn’t ask who he liked, nor did she question what she lacked compared to that person. She clinked her glass with his, her eyes slightly red, but smiled freely, “Happy graduation.”

The breeze on the rooftop was a bit cool. The girl wiped her tears, putting an end to her unrequited love. She turned and rejoined her classmates, laughing and joking. She had expected Wei Zhenge to reject her, but confessing was simply a way to find closure.

Wei Zhenge left the reunion earlier than Jian Yuanbai expected.

When he got into the passenger seat, Jian Yuanbai touched his face. The smooth and soft texture made him pinch it again. “You drank?”

The slight pink on Wei Zhenge’s face and his somewhat dazed eyes made it clear he’d had some alcohol.

Wei Zhenge raised a finger and gestured, “Just a little.”

Jian Yuanbai leaned over to fasten his seatbelt and said, “I’ll make you some hangover soup when we get home.”

Wei Zhenge mumbled, “No, your cooking tastes awful.”

Jian Yuanbai: “You’ve never had my hangover soup. How do you know it’s bad?”

Wei Zhenge stuck out his tongue as if he had already tasted it, “Everything you cook is bad.”

In his slightly tipsy state, Wei Zhenge unknowingly spoke his true thoughts, stabbing Jian Yuanbai right in the heart.

In the end, the slightly bitter hangover soup still went down Wei Zhenge’s throat.

Through a mouth-to-mouth method.

Wei Zhenge’s delicate face flushed a faint pink, his eyes slightly squinted and dazed, as he was forced to accept Jian Yuanbai’s deep kiss.

The bitter hangover soup flowed into Wei Zhenge’s mouth. The bitterness made him struggle to escape, but with his head held in place, he could only use his tongue to push away the uninvited intruder.

However, this slight resistance was completely ineffective. On the contrary, it was like offering meat to a wolf’s mouth, where it was sucked and licked excessively.

The hangover soup that he couldn’t swallow in time trickled down the corner of his lips, soaking his thin T-shirt. The faint color of his skin was revealed beneath the damp fabric.

Jian Yuanbai released Wei Zhenge’s lips and tongue, his gaze dark as he stared at the water stain, saying in a hoarse voice, “What a waste.”

Driven by the principle of frugality, he lowered his head and bit the fabric stained with the soup, taking the opportunity to “care for” the small, delicate bud hidden beneath.

The moonlight outside the window refused to stay cold and lonely, shining into the heated room. The clothes piled up at the foot of the bed cast shadows on the floor, resembling a dark and decadent flower.

The shadows of the trees swayed, and the moonlight was gentle as water. In the quiet night, someone was coaxing their lover, who couldn’t stop crying.

“Seven times is impossible for now. How about two?”

“Endurance needs to be trained, right? One day, you’ll be able to handle seven.”

—

After the college entrance exam results were released, Wei Zhenge’s homeroom teacher contacted him immediately—not by phone but via text message.

In addition to sharing his score, the teacher also said:

“Over the past three years, I owe you an apology. Out of fear of being fired, I failed to fulfill my responsibilities as a teacher.

I’m sorry. I hope in the future, your life will be as vast as the ocean, where fish leap freely, and as high as the sky, where birds fly without limits.”

Wei Zhenge stared blankly at the message for a moment. Then, he glanced at Jian Yuanbai, who was nervously staring at the computer screen, refreshing the results page.

His fingers hesitated over the call button but eventually didn’t press it.

The teacher chose to text instead of calling, likely because they didn’t know how to express themselves. Understanding this, Wei Zhenge simply replied with a message.

He had never blamed the teachers. After all, everyone has a family to support and a life to live. They had no obligation to sacrifice their high-paying jobs for him.

Wei Zhenge turned to Jian Yuanbai and said, “My teacher just messaged me. I scored 721.”

“721!”

Upon hearing the score, Jian Yuanbai, as if he had scored it himself, picked up Wei Zhenge and kissed him fiercely.

“As expected of my wife, you’re amazing!”

After saying that, he suddenly realized something was off. “Wait, the score-checking system hasn’t even opened yet?”

Wei Zhenge explained, “Schools and teachers usually get the results earlier than the system.”

Hearing this, Jian Yuanbai kissed him again, then held him on his lap like a baby.

“Now that the score is out, where do you want to go? You’ve been buried in the gambling stone business before the results came out.”

Wei Zhenge looked at him apologetically, “I still have things to handle.”

Jian Yuanbai knew how busy he’d been lately and didn’t push further. “Alright, but once you’re done, you need to take a break and go out for some fun. Otherwise, school will start again soon.”

Wei Zhenge smiled gently. “Okay.”

The two of them waited until the results page finally loaded and confirmed the score.

At that moment, Wei Zhenge’s phone rang again.

“Hello, Zhenge?”

On the other end of the line, a man’s voice sounded affectionate, “It’s your father.”

The smile on Wei Zhenge’s face vanished the moment he heard the voice, replaced by cold mockery.

That mockery was fully displayed when he agreed to meet Wei Chengye, just as the man had requested.

Wei Chengye forced a smile and tried to please him, “Zhenge, I know… everything that happened before was my fault.”

“It was all because I listened to that bitch Jiang Xuelan. I was wrong.”

“I’ve actually wanted to reach out to you long ago, but Jian Yuanbai wouldn’t let me. He said if I dared to contact you during your senior year, he’d destroy the Wei family.”

Wei Chengye wiped away fake tears. “He’s trying to ruin us.”

“Think about it, Zhenge. Everything I own will eventually be yours.”

“You and I are family. Blood is thicker than water. Jian Yuanbai only treats you well because…”

Wei Chengye carefully observed Wei Zhenge’s expression, “Because… he likes your good looks and young body.”

The words made him sick to his stomach.

He had long known about the relationship between Wei Zhenge and Jian Yuanbai. His younger son, Wei En, had told him everything.

Two men entangled in such a disgusting relationship.

He had wanted to slap Wei Zhenge across the face and call him disgusting, but he couldn’t.

This humiliation made Wei Chengye’s heart bleed. As a father, he had to lower himself and beg his own son, who was being “played with” by another man.

Wei Zhenge coldly placed his coffee cup on the table, making a crisp sound.

“Enough. What do you really want from me?”

Wei Chengye coughed awkwardly to cover up the tension.

“Actually… I have a daughter outside.”

“She’s your sister. You can introduce her to Jian Yuanbai and let her give him a son for you.”

“Don’t worry, she won’t ruin your relationship. Think about it—Jian Yuanbai is still a man. Wouldn’t he want an heir?”

Suddenly, a man sitting behind Wei Chengye stood up and slammed a magazine onto his face.

“How can you be this shameless?”

Wei Chengye turned around in anger, “Who the hell…”

His words got stuck in his throat as he stammered, “Jian… Jian Yuanbai? Why are you here?”

“I already told Zhenge over the phone, I just wanted to talk as father and son. Why did you follow him here?”

Jian Yuanbai let out a cold laugh, “If I hadn’t come, I wouldn’t have known you wanted your daughter to bear me a son.”

“Why don’t you ask your daughter if she’s willing? You’re so eager to carry on your bloodline, yet I don’t see you using your own stomach to give birth.”

“A child born with a woman is only 50% yours. But if you give birth yourself, that would be 100% yours. Now that’s what I call truly carrying on the bloodline.”

Wei Chengye was extremely embarrassed. “Mr. Jian, what kind of nonsense is this? How can a man give birth?”

Jian Yuanbai interrupted him, “Do you think I spared the Wei family because I care about Wei Zhenge?”

He suddenly chuckled, “You’re not wrong.”

“But it’s not because I care about my little pillow that I let you off. It’s because I want to leave the last breath of the Wei family to him, so he can personally crush it.”

Wei Zhenge added, “I will temporarily join Zhenge Group to specifically oversee the acquisition of the Wei Corporation.”

He stood up and looked at Wei Chengye, “I wonder if, when you devoured my mother’s family business back then, you ever thought about this day.”

After a pause, he continued, “Oh, by the way, when I was sorting through the Su family’s company records, I found something interesting. Maybe you’ll get to hear about the downfall of the Wei family while you’re in prison.”

With that, he left the café with Jian Yuanbai, leaving behind a defeated Wei Chengye slumped in his seat.

As the two of them walked away, they started talking about something completely unrelated to taking down Wei Chengye.

Jian Yuanbai commented, “I think your tone just now wasn’t fierce enough. Your voice wasn’t loud enough, and your emotions weren’t intense enough.”

Wei Zhenge responded half-heartedly, “Mm-hmm.”

“Look, only the three of us heard what you said. At a moment like this, you should’ve said it loudly, so that everyone in the café would turn to look at Wei Chengye.”

Wei Zhenge continued to brush him off, “Right.”

“That way, under everyone’s gaze, Wei Chengye would feel even more humiliated.”

Finally, Jian Yuanbai asked, “What do you think, baby?”

Wei Zhenge stopped walking, turned his head to glance at him, and said, “I think you talk too much.”

Jian Yuanbai immediately shut his mouth in grievance. Clearly, it was Little Pillow (Wei Zhenge) who liked saying these dramatic lines, so he put in the effort to figure out how to maximize the effect. Yet now, he was being disliked for talking too much.

Unable to help himself, he asked the system again, “As a ‘Long AoTian’ protagonist, does Little Pillow really enjoy saying these cringy lines?”

“I just can’t see it.”

The system replied, “He likes it.”

“But that wasn’t the time for dramatic lines. Why were you pushing him to express emotions?”

Jian Yuanbai replied as if it were obvious, “I was helping him rehearse.”

“I thought if he practiced more, it might help ease the anxiety from his social phobia.”

The system: …

“You’re… really thoughtful.”

Jian Yuanbai, humble and proud, said, “This is what I should do as a boyfriend.”
