GRMFBS CH293
Monster Doctor was truly overjoyed.
Bai Ze had disappeared for far too long, leaving absolutely no trace. Had Infinite not insisted otherwise, he would have assumed Bai Ze had perished during that divine ability self-destruction.
He didn’t know how Bai Ze had survived, but it was wonderful.
As long as he captured Bai Ze, he would know everything. All truths, all principles, all secrets!
Monster Doctor trembled with excitement, the bloodshot veins in the whites of his eyes writhing, wishing they could burst out of their sockets to seize Zhan Yan.
The severely injured Bai Ze was currently just an ordinary person, accompanied only by Rong Sui.
Holding Rong Sui back would be all too easy. She had left a spiritual imprint on Infinite and was thus singularly focused on chasing its traces. Who said weaknesses couldn’t be turned into fishhooks? By arranging several flesh clones bearing the imprint, he could easily lure Rong Sui away.
Rong Sui would certainly leave protections on Bai Ze, but Monster Doctor had made flawless preparations.
He understood Rong Sui’s abilities well; even with Yang Ran’s help, how much protection could she possibly leave on Bai Ze?
Monster Doctor had prepared in advance, tripling his estimates.
Monster Doctor possessed the “Psychic Scalpel” ability, capable of severing the spiritual imprint on his body.
However, the spiritual imprint on him stemmed from Infinite; if he could not separate from Infinite, the spiritual imprint on him would simply “spring up again like weeds in the spring breeze.”
Infinite would certainly not release his soul, so Monster Doctor could only maintain this skill on one clone over the long term—cutting away the imprint with the scalpel whenever it infected him.
Monster Doctor chose to keep the skill active on the clone tasked with tracking Bai Ze.
Because the core of the imprint was Infinite, and every clone maintained a connection with Infinite, the Psychic Scalpel could not completely sever the imprint. The resulting effect merely meant that this imprint-free clone could not be located through other clones, but one could still track other imprint-bearing clones through this one.
Monster Doctor decided to use this most crucial clone to find Bai Ze.
Bai Ze was far too important. He needed this clone searching for Bai Ze to be his most heavily concealed one, lest his other clones be captured and lead them to discover he was hunting Bai Ze.
As for whether capturing Bai Ze would pose any danger.
Monster Doctor deemed it a minor issue. Although the countermeasures Rong Sui left on Bai Ze might include methods to track his other clones through the spiritual imprint, finding them was one thing, pursuing them was another, and exterminating him entirely was on an entirely different level.
There was no one else beside Bai Ze; even if Rong Sui draped him in defensive talismans, how much power could they possibly hold?
Even if the one-in-a-million possibility occurred and he failed, with Rong Sui tracking down all his clones, she still lacked the power to pursue his other clones through the spiritual imprint and exterminate him.
Monster Doctor was thoroughly versed in the art of “cowardice,” possessing countless clones.
Stacking talismans of the same attribute wouldn’t result in a qualitative leap in power. Wiping out all his clones would require the full-force strikes of four top-tier bosses combined, and even that wouldn’t be enough to eradicate every single one of his clones.
This was an incredibly safe plan.
Monster Doctor’s smile grew wider and wider until his lips curled completely upward.
The moment Zhan Yan saw this person turn around, a bad premonition arose in his heart.
The minimap and gossip strips sounded alarms simultaneously. The original small green dot suddenly morphed into a red cross, flashing ceaselessly.

The instant he turned around, Zhan Yan yanked his classmate back with one hand and hooked his car keys with the other.
A sleek, massive motorcycle materialized beside them. With a thunderous roar, Zhan Yan hauled his classmate onto it and swung a leg over to mount it himself.
Suddenly, something unknown snagged his foot, dragging him off by force.
Dammit!
The already-started massive motorcycle roared off with the bewildered classmate, accompanied by panicked screams: “Ahhhhh!!!”
Zhan Yan’s vision blurred; his classmate’s figure had vanished. The haystacks, the baler, the mower… all gone. The prairie grass grew wildly, surging from below ankle height to waist-deep in the blink of an eye, then past his chest, and soon towering over his head. Dense grass surrounded him, hiding unknown terrors deep within the swaying blades; before him stood only Monster Doctor, his smile growing increasingly perverted.
Zhan Yan’s pupils shrank—he had fallen into a Black Nest!
The blades of grass beneath his feet were growing rapidly as well, trying to wriggle up his pant legs, under his hem, and into his cuffs. Monster Doctor hoisted his pitchfork high.
Hum—
A soft chime sounded from the ends of Zhan Yan’s hair.
Before those clearly anomalous blades of grass could touch his skin, the blue crystal pendant tied at the back of Zhan Yan’s head suddenly flashed, abruptly bursting into countless motes of light. Each mote formed a translucent blue hexagon shaped like the crystal, linking together into a seamless sphere of light around Zhan Yan.
The blades of grass that touched the crystal barrier shattered into fine dust, just as Monster Doctor’s pitchfork slammed against the protective shield.
Indeed, Rong Sui had left countermeasures, but he was prepared for this.
Certain of his impending victory, Monster Doctor prepared to break through the defenses Rong Sui had left behind.
The next second.
Boom! Crack! Kacha!
Zhan Yan’s phone charm shot up with a whoosh.
The tiny phone charm expanded into a massive, pitch-black seal measuring two meters across. Layers of water ripples adorned the seal, clouds and mist shrouded its top, and Zhan Yan’s phone was still tethered to it.
The Ghost King Seal, dragging his phone along, plummeted rapidly toward Monster Doctor. A ceaseless barrage of thunderbolts smashed down from the sky, every single one landing squarely on Monster Doctor without deviation.
A cowlick shot up from the top of Zhan Yan’s head with a fwip. The little pitch-black curl morphed into the iridescent colors of the evening glow, then detached from his head, transforming into the manifestation of the divine Chongming bird.
A clear, resonant cry pierced through metal and cracked stone.
The Black Nest fractured.
Monster Doctor: ?!!
Before Zhan Yan could even react, he was back on the prairie.
The deep blue protective dome shielded him firmly inside, while opposite him, Monster Doctor was currently getting pulverized by the Ghost King Seal, heavenly thunder, and the divine bird manifestation.
Oh right, it seemed he really didn’t need to be nervous.
He was carrying a massive pile of top-tier protective talismans on him.
The heavenly thunder smote relentlessly; annoyed that it hadn’t finished the job after half a day, it struck harder and harder. Both the Ghost King Seal and the divine bird manifestation couldn’t even get a hit in.
Ghostly qi was pure Yin and countered by thunder.
The Ghost King Seal hovered for a bit, shrank slightly, and began guarding the perimeter to prevent Monster Doctor from escaping.
The divine bird manifestation circled the thunder-pillar-like battlefield twice, then abruptly condensed into a streak of iridescent light resembling evening clouds, darting through the gaps in the dense thunder to peck viciously!
……
Inside Antai Ranch.
Gu Jiancheng was administering injections to the cows. He had felt unsettled all day. It started very mildly, much like the worry he felt over Zhan Yan’s sluggish state these past two days. But just now, that ominous feeling suddenly exploded.
Yan Yan… the athletic smartband showed everything was normal, but Gu Jiancheng didn’t want to wait anymore.
“I need to step away for a…” Halfway through his sentence to his groupmate, he suddenly felt the heart rate on the other end of the smartband spike.
Gu Jiancheng’s expression shifted; ignoring the need for an excuse, he stepped back into the shadows and shuttled toward Zhan Yan’s shadow.
His groupmate, who had been sitting beside the cow working intently, looked up blankly when Gu Jiancheng’s sentence cut off midway: “What?”
Why was no one there? Was he blocked by the cow?
The classmate instinctively stood up, took two steps back, and widened his eyes.
There really was no one there. Where was Gu Jiancheng?
He circled the cow twice but saw no one, then looked around: “Gu Jiancheng?”
Aside from the quiet cows, there wasn’t a single person nearby.
He shuddered.
Were the cows, the cowshed haunted?
Gu Jiancheng emerged from Zhan Yan’s shadow, nearly slamming into the blue hexagonal protective dome before him.
He stared at the scene before him, his gaze gradually growing blank.
Ah… Yan Yan is standing inside a protective dome. Gu Jiancheng recognized it; this was the Artisan’s ability. He had seen it back at the Hope Base during the apocalyptic world. Therefore, this must be the protection Rong Sui left on Yan Yan.
But what was going on with that thunder and the Demon King manifestation?!
Only Tianshi possessed such ferocious thunder techniques, that Demon King manifestation seemed to belong to the Chongming Demon King, and the aura on the Ghost King Seal belonged to his future brother-in-law…
Gu Jiancheng arrived just in time to catch the finale. The thunderclouds, Demon King manifestation, and Ghost King Seal all vanished. The pale blue protective barrier also shrank down to Zhan Yan’s skin, hovering half-visible around him, twinkling like orbiting stars. All that remained on the spot was a massive crater, with a patch of charred black at the bottom.
[You have been targeted by Monster Doctor.]
The loading gossip strips suddenly all finished loading.
From Monster Doctor’s perverted grin to now, less than half a minute had passed.
Skipping past the various gossip strips in between, the latest one read:
[Monster Doctor has died.]
Monster Doctor was utterly aggrieved and indignant before his death.
Dammit! Why did Bai Ze have so many different types of top-tier protective talismans on him?
Four top-tier protective talismans—he could have barely endured them originally. But why did the energy in every single one of these top-tier talismans exceed safety thresholds?!
Who maxes out the energy in talismans until it practically overflows when making them? Weren’t they afraid the talismans would explode?
The four talismans:
The overstuffed Auspicious Seals consumed back then had been held in until now, finally finding release.
Burp~
So he just died like that?
Zhan Yan breathed a sigh of relief. A false alarm. He had thought Monster Doctor could pull off something terrifying…
“Yan… Yan?” Gu Jiancheng stared at the bottom of the crater, his eyes wary and slightly dazed.
What was that thing blasted to cinders? The thunder qi had purged the surrounding auras far too cleanly; nothing was left now, and he couldn’t sense anything.
But Zhan Suiru’s protective barrier for Yan Yan had triggered, so that thing definitely wasn’t good news.
Someone had targeted Zhan Yan!
Gu Jiancheng’s expression turned solemn, his aura plunging instantly, his features turning terrifyingly sharp and cold.
“It’s not safe here. Yan Yan, let’s leave first.”
I don’t know if Rong Sui has ever disclosed anything about the supernatural world to Yan Yan. Yan Yan is just an ordinary person; seeing all this must have terrified him. I’ve also never told Yan Yan about my “Deep Shadow” identity. But there’s no rush for any of this; explanations can wait for later. The most critical thing right now is to get Yan Yan somewhere safe… ah, do I look too fierce right now?
Boss Deep Shadow did his utmost to reel in his terrifying presence; when his deep, dark eyes looked toward Zhan Yan, he reverted back into the soft, clingy Xiao Gu.
“Yan Yan, I’ll explain things to you later. Let’s get out of here first.”
Zhan Yan snapped out of his daze: … Ahhh how did he forget about the secret identities!
Xiao Gu is here, and Mom, Dad, and Sister are probably arriving soon too.
If they bump into each other, what a chaotic mess this is going to be!
What Monster Doctor did was clearly absolutely terrifying!
Zhan Yan: “Um, no need to leave.”
His gaze shifted back to the bottom of the crater Gu Jiancheng had been staring at earlier: “That’s dead Monster Doctor.”
Gu Jiancheng: ???
