“Tianji… Jiang Tianji…”
A blurry voice echoed by his ear. After hearing the beeping of electronic instruments, the voice suddenly became clear. Jiang Tianji abruptly opened his eyes and sat up.
He Qian was recording values on a virtual screen, her brows slightly furrowed: “Alright, the examination is over. However, the situation is a bit strange. There’s nothing wrong with your data; in fact, you are much more stable than the average person.”
“Your inability to perceive your own pheromones should be due to delayed differentiation. It will naturally get better after a few days. We’ve injected you with suppressants and will come to check your condition regularly. During this time, you don’t need to worry about pheromone leakage.”
“If you feel any physical discomfort, you must immediately inform your commanding officer, understood?”
Jiang Tianji subconsciously touched his body and found his clothes were already put back on. After realizing what the current situation was, he immediately nodded.
“Okay, thank you.”
He Qian smiled at him.
“Then we will take our leave first.”
The group nodded at him, then walked toward the door together.
He Qian intentionally slowed her pace. Wait until everyone had left, she turned her head back, her voice gentle.
“Tianji, I’ve been entrusted by Commander Jiang to pass a message to you.”
“Take things as they come. When you don’t know what to do, just eat well and sleep well first. Then take your time to figure out what it is you truly want, and just work toward that direction.”
“Hearing about your incident, your mother skipped all her meetings, but unfortunately, she still didn’t make it in time to see you. It’s my first time seeing Commander Jiang look so panicked; she must really love you.”
Seeing Jiang Tianji frozen in place, He Qian sighed softly, turned around, and closed the door.
Staring at the closed mechanical door, a touch of sourness welled up in his heart.
“Beep beep—”
The mechanical door opened again, interrupting Jiang Tianji’s thoughts.
A uniformed squad member stood at the door: “Please come with me.”
Jiang Tianji immediately stood up: “Okay.”
The two left the medical wing and arrived in front of the warship from earlier to wait.
“We will temporarily confiscate your communication device. Do you need to inform your family and friends first?” the accompanying squad member asked.
Jiang Tianji licked his pale lips and nodded slightly.
He opened his communication device and found that his dorm group chat had exploded. Messages rained down into Jiang Tianji’s eyes like a torrential downpour.
- Liang Shaoqun: ???
- Liang Shaoqun: Young Master, where are you?!
- Luo Yang: Jiang Tianji, why are you running around blindly when you’re sick?
- Jiang Jun: Reply ASAP, reply as soon as you see this!
- Luo Yang: I’m already on my way to the infirmary. I’m not trying to nag, but you’re so huge—if you faint on the way, who’s going to carry you?
- Jiang Jun: Yeah, and we’re afraid you might come back halfway and not find anyone, so we sent Luo Yang to check first.
- Liang Shaoqun: Jiang Tianji, you cause too much worry! You are so immature!
Jiang Tianji sighed silently and typed quietly.
Happy Everyday: I’m not in the infirmary.
The group chat fell into a bizarre silence for a moment, followed immediately by an incoming video call.
Jiang Tianji answered it. The virtual big screen appeared before his eyes, and two faces instantly shoved themselves up to the screen.
Liang Shaoqun: “Where the hell did you run off to, you brat? Don’t you know to say something first?”
He was just about to start blasting him when the person next to him grabbed him.
Jiang Jun’s face looked strange as he hesitated, “Why are you dressed like that? Whose military jacket is that on you?”
Hearing this, Liang Shaoqun finally noticed something was wrong: “You…”
Having suffered so many shocks in such a short time, Jiang Tianji’s expression was a bit bitter. He kept it concise and to the point: “I differentiated into an Alpha and was just taken away by the military.”
The video call practically turned into a static image as the two roommates wore expressions of pure shock. Behind them, a figure crashed into the dorm room like a cannonball, the door slamming against the wall with a loud bang.
It was Luo Yang returning. Jiang Tianji sighed.
“So basically, I probably won’t be able to come back for a while. I can only let you guys know right now. They’re going to confiscate my communication device soon. If you really miss me, just stick my photo at the head of your beds to remember me by. Make sure it’s in color.”
Catching a glimpse of a tall figure out of the corner of his eye, Jiang Tianji subconsciously straightened his back.
Luo Yang’s yelling came through the video: “No way, stop messing around. What exactly is going on?”
There was no time to explain.
Ling Kongmiao came to a halt in front of him. “Are you done talking?”
“…I’m done.”
He spoke in a low voice to the three people in the video, “Have Brother Liang and Jiang Jun explain it to you later. I have to hand over my device now. Take care, guys.”
A second before the video cut off, Ling Kongmiao stepped to his side and held out his hand toward him.
And the final image the three dormmates saw was a picture of their slacker roommate standing right next to the Federation’s strongest Chief Commander.
No one would mistake the Federation’s youngest Chief Commander.
Luo Yang looked thoroughly bewildered: “Is this real or fake?”
Liang Shaoqun suddenly let out a laugh, his eyes glassy: “It’s fake, right? How could it be real.”
Jiang Jun: “…”
The three of them looked at each other, falling into a long silence.
Meanwhile, on the other side.
Seeing that Jiang Tianji didn’t hand over the device right away, Ling Kongmiao raised an eyebrow.
“What is it?”
“Wait a moment.”
Jiang Tianji quickly opened the dorm group chat and drafted a message.
—There’s a gift box in my locker. Please find a time to give it to my mom.
After sending this message, he didn’t dawdle any longer. He took off the device and handed it to Ling Kongmiao.
Ling Kongmiao took the item, but his gaze didn’t shift, landing instead on the other’s lowered head.
He was just entering the basic military unit. Was there really a need to show such a miserably abandoned expression?
It wasn’t like he was being dragged to the slaughterhouse to be sold.
