LABMY CH71
“Jian, this is the S-class healing liquid you wanted.”
A round-headed, short, chubby robot stretched out its mechanical arm from its stomach and handed the healing liquid to Jian Yuanbai.
Jian Yuanbai took it and said to Lu Qianyun, “Endure a little.”
The expensive healing liquid, worth more than gold, still couldn’t prevent the pain. When he sprayed it on, the body beneath his palm trembled noticeably.
Jian Yuanbai found a large medical sterile bandage and carefully applied it to the heavily scarred back of Lu Qianyun’s neck. After doing this, he asked, “Does it hurt?”
Actually, when he asked this, Jian Yuanbai subconsciously thought that Lu Qianyun would say it didn’t hurt. Although this was the first time he met Lu Qianyun, he had already heard many things about him.
He was the first Alpha to awaken the triple-S constitution, the first to withstand three different beasts in a simulation match at the academy, covered in scars, and still achieve the best record in history.
Many of Lu Qianyun’s deeds, filled with glory and blood, had reached Jian Yuanbai’s ears. His question about whether it hurt was merely a subconscious expression of concern as an uncle.
But when Lu Qianyun spoke, Jian Yuanbai was stunned.
The boy, still with tear stains on his face, turned his red eyes toward him. His voice trembled and his tone was soft, almost coquettish, “It hurts.”
Jian Yuanbai fell silent for a moment before saying, “Wait here.”
His expression became serious, as if he were about to discuss a multi-billion-dollar business deal. After turning his back to Lu Qianyun and entering a room, he quickly activated his light brain and began searching:
“What to do when a nephew cries from pain.”
The search results were full of advice on how to handle a crying baby, whether to comfort a child who wouldn’t stop crying.
Jian Yuanbai furrowed his brows for a long time, then confidently grabbed a fruit candy and handed it to Lu Qianyun, saying, “Eat this, and it won’t hurt anymore.”
Lu Qianyun was both amused and helpless. Was he being treated like a child?
He took the brightly colored fruit candy but said, “I don’t want this.”
Just as Jian Yuanbai was confused about what else he might want, the boy suddenly threw himself into his arms, like a human pendant, tilting his head upward with an expectant look in his eyes, “A kiss, and it won’t hurt anymore.”
The two of them locked eyes—one full of expectation, the other silent.
In the long silence, Lu Qianyun’s smile slowly faded. Details he had been deliberately ignoring began to surface.
Jian Yuanbai realized he wasn’t happy, nor was he excited. Though concerned, there was an underlying distance.
Did he want to stop? Did he think that because he wouldn’t remember, it would be fine to distance himself without any consequences? Jian Yuanbai could discard him without any blame, leaving him in ignorance, forever trapped in a small world.
If Jian Yuanbai hadn’t retained the memories of the previous two worlds due to some accident, would he have unknowingly been abandoned?
Lu Qianyun wanted to sneer, but the smile wouldn’t come. His heart felt heavy, like it was tied to a giant stone sinking into the sea, suffocating him with waves of despair, leaving him no place to escape.
Jian Yuanbai had no idea about the complex and heavy emotional turmoil Lu Qianyun was going through. He was only lost in thought, trying to figure out one thing.
Logically speaking, his first kiss should be saved for his future wife, and Lu Qianyun was already an eighteen-year-old adult, not a toddler.
But Lu Qianyun was his nephew. A kiss wouldn’t hurt, right? His first kiss was still intact, and it could be saved for his future wife.
Amid his inner turmoil, Jian Yuanbai watched the smile on the boy’s face slowly fade. He made up his mind, grabbed Lu Qianyun’s chin, slowly lowered his head, and solemnly…
He kissed him on the forehead.
Lu Qianyun blinked and dully touched his forehead, then stared blankly at Jian Yuanbai.
Jian Yuanbai’s voice was deep as he said, “I broke my vow for you.”
“Call me once more, and make me feel it wasn’t a loss.”
This overly clingy nephew of his really had a way of acting like a child, looking like he was going to cry if he didn’t get a kiss.
Lu Qianyun hesitated and softly called, “Uncle.”
Jian Yuanbai casually ruffled his hair and responded, “Good, don’t cry.”
He put his arm around Lu Qianyun’s shoulder, ready to take him to the room prepared for him.
As they walked, Lu Qianyun asked, “Uncle, what does ‘breaking a vow’ mean?”
Is it some new script I didn’t understand?
Jian Yuanbai said, “If you call me ‘uncle,’ I also have a responsibility to teach you.”
“In a marriage relationship, you should be loyal,” Jian Yuanbai paused as he remembered the reason Lu Qianyun had his gland removed. He felt an uncomfortable twist in his heart. He wanted to say something about it, but when he saw the large medical adhesive bandage on the back of Lu Qianyun’s neck, he decided against mentioning it.
Instead, he said, “It’s nothing. I just don’t like getting too close with others. I want to keep all of that for my future wife.”
Lu Qianyun stopped, feeling something wasn’t right. He paused and suddenly asked, “Jian Yuanbai.”
“Who am I?”
Jian Yuanbai’s tone became slightly irritated as he rubbed his hair, “I told you, you should call me uncle.”
Lu Qianyun thought of a possibility, his voice trembling, “Do you remember Jiang Tang? Do you remember him?”
He stared at Jian Yuanbai’s eyes, trying to catch every flicker of emotion, but all he saw was confusion—genuine, untainted confusion.
“Who is Jiang Tang?”
…
Jian Yuanbai looked at the unusually silent Lu Qianyun after asking who Jiang Tang was. He thought for a moment and said, “You should stay here for now. If you need anything, just let me know.”
Lu Qianyun wanted to sleep with Jian Yuanbai, but with Jian Yuanbai’s memory loss, he only arranged for a guest room for him. Dejected, Lu Qianyun nodded, saying nothing.
After Jian Yuanbai left the room, Lu Qianyun lay on the bed, staring blankly at the ceiling.
He was different from Jian Yuanbai. Jian Yuanbai had just arrived in this small world, but Lu Qianyun had lived here for eighteen years, carrying memories of two worlds.
Having lived here for eighteen years with the memories of two worlds, when his glands were removed, and blood and pain assaulted him, Lu Qianyun actually smiled silently.
Because he knew, the plot was about to begin, and he was finally going to meet Jian Yuanbai.
He missed him. He thought about him every moment.
Curled up on the wide, soft bed, the delicate young man closed his eyes and cried silently, yet the sorrow and coldness he exuded seemed endless.
Half an hour later, there was a knock on Jian Yuanbai’s room door.
The boy, hugging a soft pillow, looked at him with pitiful eyes, pleading, “Can I sleep with you tonight?”
Jian Yuanbai stood at the door, not budging, his brows furrowed as he looked at this overly clingy child, “Lu Qianyun, you’re eighteen, not eight.”
Lu Qianyun lowered his eyes, his hand covering the back of his neck, “I’m really scared. Every time I close my eyes, I see the scene of my glands being removed.”
Jian Yuanbai sighed. Just when Lu Qianyun thought there was hope, Jian Yuanbai raised his voice and called, “Tata.”
The round-headed robot quickly rushed over, “Jian, Tata is here.”
Jian Yuanbai said, “Stay with him tonight. Go get yourself a soft shell and shrink your body a bit.”
After speaking to Tata, he seriously told Lu Qianyun, “Tata is the most advanced home security robot. I even equipped it with an electronic gun. Don’t worry, no one can hurt you.”
Lu Qianyun’s expression cracked. After a moment of silence, he responded expressionlessly, “Mm.”
Jian Yuanbai watched as Lu Qianyun turned and left. After walking a few steps, Lu Qianyun stopped in the middle of the corridor and turned back. Jian Yuanbai looked at him with confusion, “What’s wrong? Is there something else?”
Lu Qianyun suddenly said out of nowhere, “I think you can stop worrying about finding a future wife.”
Jian Yuanbai was puzzled, “Why?”
Lu Qianyun replied, “With your personality and way of handling things, I don’t think you’ll ever find a wife.”
Jian Yuanbai looked at Lu Qianyun in disbelief as he turned and left without looking back. He retorted, “My personality is clearly great!”
In response, the sound of a door closing echoed through the hallway.
The system, which had been silent all along, quietly came online and spoke in a deep tone, “I think he’s right.”
“Heh,” Jian Yuanbai sneered, “You’re talking nonsense.”
“As the Long AoTian Support System, you’re a useless system that can’t even provide a proper plot. I suggest you shut up.”
The system shrugged, “Fine, I’ll shut up. It’s not like I’m the one who won’t get a wife.”
Annoyed, Jian Yuanbai slammed the door and returned to his room. After taking a shower, he processed some documents on his optical brain before turning off the lights and lying on the bed.
The night was silent and still. The windows blocked out the wind, and the curtains kept out the light, providing the perfect environment for sleep.
However, the tall man lying on the bed suddenly opened his eyes.
No one knew that Lu Qianyun was not actually the Empire’s first triple-S Alpha. Jian Yuanbai was also an SSS-level Alpha, standing at the very pinnacle of the top Alphas.
At this moment, he could clearly sense that someone was standing outside his door, lingering for a long time.
That “long” stretched to half an hour. Jian Yuanbai neither heard a knock nor saw the person leave.
Lu Qianyun had returned to the guest room in frustration. The room, which hadn’t been used in a long time, was clean and tidy, but it lacked Jian Yuanbai’s scent.
It was Jian Yuanbai who made Tata face the corner and pretend to be punished. Yet, the one acting childish was Lu Qianyun, who, in the end, couldn’t resist coming to Jian Yuanbai’s door.
Lu Qianyun knew this behavior was a bit strange, so he set an alarm that would only vibrate and not make a sound.
He really missed Jian Yuanbai. He wanted to be closer to him, just a little closer.
Meanwhile, in the room, after waiting for half an hour, Jian Yuanbai finally got up from the bed. Without turning on the light, he walked to the door and opened it.
Outside, a delicate and beautiful young man was wrapped in a thin blanket, quietly sleeping by his door.
He looked uneasy, with his brows slightly furrowed even in his sleep, like a beautiful fawn seeking shelter.
Tata, following his master’s orders, stood silently guarding him, while Lu Qianyun simply leaned against Jian Yuanbai’s door.
Jian Yuanbai considered himself a man of principle. He was eighteen now. Even if his gland had been removed, he couldn’t possibly provide “special services.”
Lu Qianyun was destined to become the strongest in the Empire. He had to possess a strong will and an unyielding spirit. He could temporarily fail, but he couldn’t be defeated.
Jian Yuanbai should immediately wake him up and send him back to his own room to sleep.
…
One minute, two minutes, three minutes later, the tall man carried the young boy into the warm bed.
Just for one night.
