With that aggressive gaze on him, Shi Xueqing gave a dry laugh, “H-how would I know?”
His voice grew weaker as he spoke.
Fortunately, Lu Yimeng accidentally knocked over a plate, attracting everyone’s attention. Hardly anyone paid attention to the conversation between the two in the corner.
Or that hidden, unsettling atmosphere.
Shi Xueqing hurriedly lowered his head and continued to deal with the octopus. But he just had to hear Xing Jun say, “Want another plate?”
“…”
“Eat more, you look strangely listless today.”
Who do you think caused this… Shi Xueqing thought. He kept his head down, pretending not to hear anything, until the commotion over the overturned plate subsided.
But Xing Jun actually ordered another plate of snacks, and it was the one Shi Xueqing had glanced at a few times on the menu earlier but hadn’t ordered.
When the snacks arrived, everyone was already about eighty percent full, and no one touched them.
Including Shi Xueqing, who was playing dead.
The few international students didn’t really care about wasting this bit of food. Just as they were about to pay, Xing Wei casually remarked, “Brother, you ordered food but didn’t eat it.”
“Oh, I’ll eat it then.”
In the end, Xing Jun ate that plate of snacks slowly and methodically.
Tao Shu, Jason, and Zheng Songtao chatted about something, and the three of them decided to visit a local retro game store after the meal. Xing Wei never had any interest in these things. She thought for a moment and said, “Perfect, Yimeng, Xiao Shi, the four of us can take my brother’s car back together.”
“I want to go look around too.”
Shi Xueqing, who had been silent at the dining table for half the day, spoke up immediately.
“Huh? You’re interested in games?”
Of course, Shi Xueqing wasn’t interested. He couldn’t even distinguish between Digimon and Pokémon. He just didn’t want to be in the same car as Xing Jun.
He wanted to avoid Xing Jun, the farther the better.
“Alright then,” Xing Wei didn’t press further. “You guys go ahead.”
Shi Xueqing hummed an acknowledgment, stealing a glance at Xing Jun’s reaction.
Xing Jun was staring right at him, his eyes filled with an emotion that was hard to define—calmness or perhaps amusement. Shi Xueqing quickly averted his gaze.
As expected, the retro game store wasn’t much fun. The three of them were buzzing with excitement, while Shi Xueqing alone acted as a wallflower.
Bored out of his mind, he watched Tao Shu rummaging around. “There’s actually Sweet Pool here. Who sold this?”
“Sweet Pool? What game is that?” Zheng Songtao leaned over. “Sounds pretty Hawaiian… Why is the cover a sweaty guy?”
Tao Shu: “It’s a boy’s love game.”
“Boy’s love? Huh??” Zheng Songtao went from shock to breakdown.
“What’s with the ‘huh’, you’re in America now,” Jason teased, then said to Tao Shu, “Sister, your tastes are pretty heavy.”
While they chatted, only Shi Xueqing shifted uncomfortably.
Boy’s love.
The more he thought about it, the messier his head got. Luckily, Tao Shu didn’t buy the game in the end. While paying, Shi Xueqing felt like Tao Shu glanced at him.
Probably thinking, why did he come all this way just to be a wallflower and buy nothing?
Behind them, the two straight guys, Zheng Songtao and Jason, were still discussing the topic of gay men. Zheng Songtao said, “I respect them, but I couldn’t do it myself.”
Jason said, “If the guy was pretty enough, maybe you could.”
Zheng Songtao actually thought about it seriously. “Still no. I feel like I couldn’t get hard, couldn’t bring myself to do it.”
“Have you ever done it with a girl?”
“No… Have you?”
“Damn, don’t hit where it hurts.”
Listening to them, Shi Xueqing felt like he was the one getting hit right in the spine.
Not only had he done it, but it was with a man, Xing Wei’s brother.
And what terrified him even more was that he wasn’t just the one on the bottom.
He actually felt good.
Shi Xueqing suddenly felt a wave of panic.
Back in the hotel room, Shi Xueqing had a sleepless night over his sexual orientation. He even got up to Google, trying to prove that every straight man has a prostate.
Feeling good wasn’t his problem; Xing Jun, who could get hard despite being drunk and promiscuous, was the one with the problem.
But after searching till the end, Shi Xueqing couldn’t find a methodological conclusion. Watching the sky gradually brighten, he thought despairingly, what am I going to do?
Can I still date a rich, beautiful girl in the future like this?
Shi Xueqing was groggy the next day. Fortunately, today’s activities were within the city area—a group shopping trip to enjoy Hawaii’s low state tax and buy, buy, buy.
No brainpower required.
But the consequences of staying up late manifested when getting into the car. Shi Xueqing walked too slowly and was caught by Xing Jun on the way to the SUV.
Physically caught by the arm.
Shi Xueqing was still wearing long sleeves. But even without skin-to-skin contact, the other’s burning body temperature transmitted through the fabric to his sensitive skin. It’s said that people who work out diligently have faster metabolisms and higher body temperatures compared to others.
Regarding Xing Jun’s diligence in working out, Shi Xueqing had already experienced it firsthand a few days ago. Thinking of this, he lowered his eyes, afraid to look at Xing Jun.
Shi Xueqing tugged at his arm but failed to pull it out of Xing Jun’s grasp. Xing Jun’s hand was like iron. The others were still ahead, and Shi Xueqing didn’t want them to notice the anomaly between him and Xing Jun, so he hurriedly lowered his voice, “You… let go of me.”
A bit weak. Moreover, Shi Xueqing felt this sentence was somewhat shameful, as if there was some inexplicable relationship between him and Xing Jun.
Xing Jun’s attitude, however, was in stark contrast to his.
“Did I do anything to you? Avoiding me like this?” Xing Jun said in a steady tone. “There are four people sitting over there; it’s already crowded. Can’t you see that?”
Simply shameless. Shi Xueqing was shocked again.
Truly worthy of the ruthless upstart who sent his opponent to jail and his own father to the hospital… He couldn’t help but look up, only to find Xing Jun staring at him unabashedly.
Very dominant, yet not urgent.
“Besides, don’t want to ride in a luxury car anymore?”
Xing Jun spat out another sentence slowly and methodically.
Actually, he did want to, it was just that his butt was uncomfortable.
Especially the day before yesterday.
“Brother, Xiao Shi, hurry up?” Xing Wei’s impatient voice came from ahead.
Shi Xueqing recoiled as if scalded, finally able to retract his hand. Fortunately, no one saw him and Xing Jun pulling and pushing here.
Otherwise, the relationship between him and Xing Jun would be exposed sooner or later.
Although they didn’t really have a relationship. It was just a drunken fling.
Scared and confused, Shi Xueqing somehow ended up following Xing Jun into the Ferrari.
The Ferrari’s leather seats were indeed comfortable, at least much more comfortable than the crowded SUV. And sitting inside made one feel high-class.
Familiar music and familiar push-back sensation again. Yet Shi Xueqing’s mood wasn’t as frivolous and relaxed as usual.
He watched the street view drift past the window, still agonizing over the drunken fling.
He had too many things to agonize over. His own sexual orientation, Xing Jun’s revenge, the consequences of the drunken fling, whether he could find a sugar mommy in the future… But in the end, Shi Xueqing still felt the Ferrari was comfortable to sit in.
Agonizing in a Ferrari was, after all, much better than agonizing in an SUV.
Shi Xueqing agonized in the back seat. Xing Jun drove in the front.
These past two days, Xing Jun had been repeatedly savoring the experience in the gaps of his various activities.
“Once you taste the marrow, you know not when to stop,” perhaps describes it exactly. Whenever he closed his eyes, he would recall Shi Xueqing’s expression beneath him that night.
Teary-eyed, breathing slightly.
And Shi Xueqing’s uniquely gifted body.
And finally, the way Shi Xueqing pressed close to him. Shi Xueqing was sweaty all over, his fair skin flushed scarlet, glistening with moisture. His ten fingers gripped Xing Jun’s back, relying on him as if drained of strength, every sound and expression moving because of him.
In his arms, Shi Xueqing seemed to have forgotten his schemes and calculations, swimming along with his movements like a mermaid stranded on shore, unable to walk. Obedient and well-behaved, seeming very innocent.
The way he gave whatever was asked for was very endearing.
Just as the Ferrari parked, Xing Wei excitedly jumped down from the passenger seat. Before going to the mall, she said to Xing Jun, “Brother, if I buy a lot today, you can’t scold me. The state tax here is so low; buying is earning.”
Xing Wei wasn’t interested in jewelry. Today she was buying miscellaneous bags and clothes, spending at most twenty or thirty thousand dollars. Xing Jun said casually, “Buy whatever you want.”
Compared to some rich second generations, Xing Wei was considered someone who didn’t spend money recklessly. Her most exaggerated irrational spending was boosting sales for her idol, chartering planes for accommodation, and treating other fans to see her idol’s performance.
Other than that, it was just eating, drinking, traveling, and buying some collectibles; nothing else.
Thinking of this, Xing Jun saw Shi Xueqing getting out of the car too. Shi Xueqing had probably recovered; his walking posture returned to his refined manner. Likely sensing his gaze, Shi Xueqing lowered his head after a while, shrinking back a little.
If Shi Xueqing wanted money, he might as well be with him.
He was much richer than his sister.
And Shi Xueqing really had quite a talent; even drunk, he was so seductive in bed.
Xing Jun walked behind them, watching them reunite with the other four. Looking at Shi Xueqing, who stood out in the crowd with his fairness and beauty, he decided to settle the matter today.
As for Shi Xueqing’s personal thoughts, a person like him who had maximum desire for control over people and things rarely considered them.
Shi Xueqing shopped with Xing Wei and the others. Xing Jun didn’t follow them; no one knew where he went.
This actually made Shi Xueqing sigh in relief, feeling his luck was pretty good today.
Two days had passed, and his skin had mostly healed. He still wore long sleeves for sun protection, but his collarbone and neck skin saw the light of day again. Even in a trance, Shi Xueqing hadn’t forgotten to dress up. He wore a white T-shirt with a very wide neckline, a grass-green shirt jacket over it, and grey pants.
Several long silver chains hung around his neck.
Xing Wei went on a killing spree at Chanel, buying three bags before starting to pick clothes. Shi Xueqing managed to mooch off the VIP shopping benefits, sitting on the sofa drinking beverages. The SA didn’t forget to take care of Shi Xueqing, bringing a catalog over and asking if he liked any accessories.
Chanel didn’t have a men’s line, and Shi Xueqing had no money. Shi Xueqing knew the SA was just being polite.
Because they were going shopping today and he was afraid of being recognized by the SA, Shi Xueqing didn’t have a single logo on him.
He looked at the splendid store interior and Xing Wei’s increasing number of shopping bags, feeling everything was very far away from him. After shopping at Chanel, Xing Wei and Lu Yimeng wanted to go to Dior. Shi Xueqing used the excuse of wanting to check out other stores to leave first.
“Where are you going? Celine? YSL? Let’s go together,” Lu Yimeng tried to keep him.
“No need. Niche brands, only men’s wear.” Shi Xueqing put on a slight act.
In the end, he found a Starbucks to drink coffee. The sun in Honolulu was blindingly bright, and the ice in his vanilla latte melted quickly. Shi Xueqing watched people coming and going near the atrium, many carrying shopping bags.
LV, Christian Louboutin, LANYI, and Balenciaga—Brother Balenciaga’s favorite Balenciaga… Shi Xueqing had seen the prices of every classic item from every brand on Xiaohongshu.
Yet he was very far from every lively bag.
Actually, at least during the sale season, a Loewe belt only cost two hundred dollars; he could afford one to match his outfit today. After all, his work-study wages had arrived, and he had an $8,000 scholarship on the way.
His phone vibrated just then.
What Shi Xueqing received wasn’t a notification of the $8,000 scholarship arriving, but a WeChat message from his stepfather asking for money using his sister as an excuse.
“Your sister’s school organized a math training summer camp. Going to City B, each person needs to pay twenty thousand yuan. I don’t think it’s necessary to go, what do you think?”
Twenty thousand yuan… that’s three thousand dollars.
The number was more dazzling than the sunlight. Shi Xueqing was annoyed, but he remembered his sister was very good at math. A few years ago, when his mother’s mental state was still good, she had mentioned it to him.
She smiled and said, “Neither your father nor I are good at math. Maybe our family will produce a national Olympiad contestant in the future.”
His stepfather had seized their family’s property, so naturally, there was no need to continue paying for the little girl’s math training. But Shi Xueqing was her brother.
Amidst his struggle, Shi Xueqing still opened the WeChat chat window with the person he exchanged currency with. Just then, the table in front of him was knocked.
He saw a wheat-colored hand, fingers long and powerful.
Shi Xueqing looked up, holding his phone. The handsome, tall man blocked the sun, staring at him with dark eyes.
“?”
“Follow me.”
That person only said one sentence.
“…”
Under someone else’s roof, and staying in the hotel opened by them. Shi Xueqing could only put down his phone and follow.
Before leaving, he remembered to take his unfinished vanilla latte.
Truly, when it rains, it pours. Following behind Xing Jun, Shi Xueqing wondered what Xing Jun was taking him to do, unconsciously shrinking back a little.
And did Xing Jun film their sex tape or not? He thought messy thoughts again.
His collar was suddenly pulled. Shi Xueqing turned his head in horror, seeing Xing Jun grabbing him with one hand.
“Still walking forward? We’re here,” Xing Jun said.
Shi Xueqing turned his head, suddenly stunned.
An orange store appeared in front of him.
Hermès.
