FIMA Ch9: Obvious

Beichuan High School is only a ten-minute taxi ride from the city center.

Gu Siyuan directed the driver to stop in front of an electronics mall. He came here to buy a phone and assemble a computer.

For someone who had lived two lives, making some money wasn’t too difficult, but making a lot of money required time and the accumulation of resources and connections.

At present, the easiest ways were stock trading and selling programs, for which a computer was essential.

As soon as he walked into the second floor of the electronics mall, a salesperson enthusiastically greeted him.

“Handsome, are you here to buy a computer? What price range are you looking at?”

Gu Siyuan, with an indifferent expression, said, “I’ll assemble it myself.”

The salesperson’s smile didn’t change. This electronics mall was close to A City’s university town, and many young college students often came to assemble computers. Many of them were experts.

In the field of electronic computers, age couldn’t be used to judge expertise, and often, the younger the person, the more skilled they might be.

However, today this young man was unusually handsome, almost not like a tech nerd.

Since he had prepared in advance, he saved the time of repeated selection and hesitation. In less than twenty minutes, everything was configured according to Gu Siyuan’s preferences.

Gu Siyuan sat down immediately, ready to try writing a few programs.

When he was working, he was always completely focused.

At some point, someone stood behind him.

This person, about twenty years old, looked excited when he saw Gu Siyuan come back to his senses. “Are you also a computer science student at A University?”

A University was the best university in their province, with its main campus in their city, ranking in the top ten nationally, although still a bit behind Q University.

Gu Siyuan shook his head. “Senior in high school.”

The young man widened his eyes slightly but then became even more delighted. “So you’re self-taught and very talented? Let’s add each other on WeChat. If you’re a senior now, do you want to apply to our school? I’m a third-year in the computer science department; I can help you out when you get here…”

Gu Siyuan glanced at him and said expressionlessly, “We can add WeChat.”

The senior was a warm-hearted person. Seeing his reaction, he chuckled and said, “What? Only adding WeChat? Are you afraid you won’t get into A University?”

The computer science department at A University was a popular major, with the minimum admission score in recent years being 670.

Gu Siyuan said flatly, “I’ve already been accepted to Q University.”

“Don’t be afraid, young man, you should have some…” The senior continued with a smile but suddenly paused. “Did you just say… Q University? You mean you’ve been pre-admitted to Q University?”

Gu Siyuan nodded.

The senior looked at the young man before him, who remained calm and collected, and couldn’t help but sigh with a wry smile, “Alright, you’re better than your senior. My name is Jiang Hefeng, and you?”

“Gu Siyuan.”

The reason Gu Siyuan spoke so much and was willing to add him on WeChat was because they were acquaintances in their previous life.

Later, when he established a technology laboratory, Jiang Hefeng served as the deputy leader of the computing group.

He came directly to this electronics mall because Jiang Hefeng had once said he loved to hang out here when he was a student in A City.

By the third year of university, Jiang Hefeng had already secured a place for postgraduate study, and his mentor was very prestigious, collaborating with several large internet companies.

Since there was a ready-made connection here, Gu Siyuan wouldn’t look elsewhere.

Weekend.

Xie Qingxiao spent the entire morning solving various test papers. After lunch, he took his phone and prepared to go out.

As soon as he hobbled downstairs, a mocking female voice came from the living room.

“Can’t stay home for even a moment. Just came back last night and already running out. People would think our house is a dragon’s den.” Gong Li sat on the sofa, holding a fruit plate, watching TV while eating.

Xie Qingxiao stopped, glanced at her, and said, “I’m going out to change the dressing.”

Gong Li was momentarily speechless, but facing Xie Qingxiao’s cold gaze, she couldn’t help but retort, “Hmph, an Omega always getting hurt, what on earth are you doing at school?”

Xie Qingxiao lazily smiled. “Aunt Gong, instead of worrying about what I do at school, you should worry about what Xie Gaoyang and Xie Gaohan are doing at school. Otherwise, how can they always be at the bottom in every exam?”

“You…” Gong Li glared at him, angrily tossing the fruit plate onto the coffee table.

This little brat.

Ever since she married Xie Chengfeng, Gong Li had tried to trip up Xie Qingxiao many times. This boy appeared to be aloof and unapproachable on the surface, but in reality, he was deeply scheming, incredibly shrewd, and ruthlessly vindictive. He never took any losses.

Every time she made even a slight move against him, he would find a way to make her two brothers pay back several times over.

In the end, besides relying on her status as an elder to occasionally jab at him, she found she couldn’t do anything to him at all.

Moreover, she never gained any advantage verbally.

This boy always acted pitiful and understanding in front of his father, but was full of sarcasm and sharp-tongued when facing her.

Yet, he was truly very patient and could keep up the act. From childhood to now… over a decade, he had maintained the same facade, and his academic performance was quite good. That deadbeat Xie Chengfeng had always treated him as a golden child, a cash cow.

Thinking about this, Gong Li felt like she had a chest full of blood she needed to spit out.

“An Omega, at such a young age, already so scheming, always putting on an act. Not at all like a normal high school student. Hmph, not even a bit likable.”

Xie Qingxiao suddenly looked up, glancing at her, his eyes dark and deep, devoid of light.

Gong Li was startled but, unwilling to back down, clutched her chest and said, “What… what, did I say something wrong? You’re young, yet your mind is already so malicious and harsh. No Alpha would like an Omega like you!”

Xie Qingxiao ignored Gong Li’s frantic outburst behind him, dragging his injured leg as he walked step by step out of the neighborhood gate.

He usually stayed in the school dormitory. For convenience with his medication next week, he had instinctively chosen a well-reviewed private clinic near the school to have his wounds bandaged last night.

The doctor had instructed him to come back every day for a dressing change.

Just as he was about to reach the clinic’s door, he unexpectedly saw two familiar faces through the glass door.

Inside the clinic’s cubicle, Shen Ting was carefully half-carrying Lu Jiayang onto a bed, asking concernedly, “Does it still hurt?”

Lu Jiayang shook his head. “It’s actually fine.”

While applying the medication, Shen Ting squatted by his side the whole time.

As soon as Lu Jiayang frowned slightly, Shen Ting would start scolding the doctor.

“Doctor, be gentle. Can’t you see he’s frowning?”

“Doctor, are you competent?”

“Doctor, do you even know how to apply medication?”

“Doctor, can’t you see he’s in pain?”

“Doctor…”

In the end, it wasn’t just the doctor who got irritated; even Lu Jiayang was embarrassed and patted him, “Shen Ting, enough. I’m not that fragile…”

However, despite the complaining tone, it was clear from his eyes and expression that he was happy.

The doctor, who had been impressed by the two of them yesterday, joked, “You young couples, always arguing one day and back to normal the next.”

Lu Jiayang blushed. “No, doctor, you misunderstood…”

The doctor rolled his eyes. “Misunderstood what? Only when you’re young do you have the time to argue and fall in love.”

Hearing this, Shen Ting immediately laughed heartily.

Lu Jiayang couldn’t argue anymore.

Xie Qingxiao didn’t even know what he was doing. Lu Jiayang’s dressing change took nearly half an hour, and he just stood outside the clinic on his injured leg, watching for that long…

In the end, when Shen Ting carried Lu Jiayang out again, he instinctively hid.

After the two got into a car and left, Xie Qingxiao came out, limping away, even forgetting to get his medication changed.

Confused and aimless, Xie Qingxiao didn’t know where to go. He just walked along the tree-lined path.

After a while, his calf started to hurt unbearably. He looked around, wanting to find a place to rest, and spotted the fluttering red flag in the wind not far away, feeling a bit warmer inside.

No wonder the surroundings felt more and more familiar.

He hesitated for a moment, then walked into Beichuan’s gates.

It was the weekend, and most of the high school seniors had gone home.

However, some people were still there.

Yesterday had been rainy and cold.

Today, as if compensating, the sky was clear, with the sun high in the eastern sky since early morning.

After lunch, Gu Siyuan found a sunny spot in the schoolyard, leisurely sitting on a stone bench, playing chess by himself while holding a box of ice cream.

In his previous life, his childhood and teenage years had been tough, and he hardly ever enjoyed snacks. After graduation, he focused on his research, to the point where he didn’t even have a regular eating schedule.

Reborn, he naturally wanted to live more freely.

At the height of his enjoyment, he narrowed his eyes contentedly, like a leopard lazily napping in the sunlight.

But everyone knew this was just an illusion. Once prey appeared, he would strike with lightning speed.

Gu Siyuan, always sharp, noticed someone staring at him for a long time.

He looked up and asked indifferently, “Do you want some?”

“Huh?” Xie Qingxiao was confused.

It took him a moment to understand what he was asking and he quickly shook his head. “No.”

Gu Siyuan put the ice cream box on the table, gesturing for him to sit. “Black or white?”

Xie Qingxiao was gradually catching up with his thought process, chuckling softly and casually replying, “White.”

Gu Siyuan nodded. “Sit.”

When it came to chess, Xie Qingxiao knew a bit.

As for Go, he didn’t even know the rules. He wasn’t in the mood either, so he just played along with Gu Siyuan.

However, Gu Siyuan didn’t mind.

He didn’t expect him to play seriously, only showing a bit of kindness and patience to his target, seeing that he was in a bad state.

Xie Qingxiao picked up a chess piece but slowly put it down again, looking at Gu Siyuan, and asked tentatively, “If… I mean if…”

Gu Siyuan snorted, “Why don’t you just say you have a friend?”

Xie Qingxiao nodded, as if it didn’t matter, “Yes, I do have a friend, even if he found out… his boyfriend might not like him, doesn’t care about him, what do you think…”

Gu Siyuan toyed with the chess piece in his hand, lazily lifting his eyelids, “Shen Ting doesn’t like you, isn’t it obvious?”
