FIMA Ch24: Well Done

The residential complex where the Xie family lived was a mix of townhouses and high-end apartments.

Aside from owners of small and medium-sized enterprises like Xie Chengfeng, most of the residents here were mid-to-high-level managers of large tech companies in the nearby tech park.

When the two arrived at the entrance of the Xie residence, it was pitch black and quiet outside, showing nothing out of the ordinary.

Xie Qingxiao puffed out his cheeks: “I thought it would be a chaotic mess like on TV, with lots of people moving things out. It’s surprisingly quiet…”

Gu Siyuan pinched his cheek: “Isn’t it good this way?”

Xie Qingxiao huffed, opened the door, and walked in. The house was brightly lit and the atmosphere was harmonious, completely devoid of any sense of ruin.

Gong Li was standing to the side pouring tea, while Xie Chengfeng was attentively speaking with a middle-aged man.

Seeing Xie Qingxiao enter, the middle-aged man’s eyes were the first to light up.

Xie Chengfeng also looked quite pleased: “Qingxiao, you’re back?”

Xie Qingxiao nodded and spoke bluntly: “Dad, didn’t you just say on the phone that the family went bankrupt?”

Xie Chengfeng’s expression stiffened slightly, but quickly shifted back to a smile: “You child, you must have heard wrong. There was just a slight problem with our cash flow, but thanks to Chairman Zhang’s assistance, it has now been completely resolved.”

Saying this, he looked again at the middle-aged man sitting on the sofa, his eyes filled with gratitude and awe: “Qingxiao, come say hello. This is Chairman Zhang’s secretary, Mr. Qiao.”

Xie Qingxiao looked at the two of them in confusion, pulling a dry smile at the corner of his mouth: “Hello, Mr. Qiao.”

Afterward, he pulled Gu Siyuan over to sit down on the sofa on the other side.

Gu Siyuan looked composed and sat down unhurriedly.

“And who might this young man be?” Secretary Qiao suddenly looked at Gu Siyuan with burning eyes.

Xie Qingxiao frowned and turned to Xie Chengfeng: “Dad, this is my boyfriend, Gu Siyuan. He originally came over to help because he heard something happened at home, so I might as well introduce you now.”

Gu Siyuan raised his eyes and nodded slightly at Xie Chengfeng: “Hello, nice to meet you.”

“Boyfriend?” Secretary Qiao’s expression was the first to change, looking at Xie Chengfeng with a hint of anger.

Xie Chengfeng scolded anxiously: “What nonsense are you talking about? Didn’t you keep saying before that you wanted to focus on your studies, and even broke up with Young Master Shen over it?”

Xie Qingxiao raised his eyebrows: “Yes, but now that the college entrance exams are over, isn’t it perfectly normal to start dating again?”

“No!” Xie Chengfeng shouted. “Break up with him immediately!”

Xie Qingxiao looked at him, his gaze hesitant: “Please give me a proper reason, otherwise, forgive me, but I cannot understand.”

Xie Chengfeng fell silent for a moment. He looked unkindly at Gu Siyuan and said slowly: “I remember now, you said his name is Gu Siyuan. He’s your nerd desk-mate at school, right? An orphan with no parents and penniless. Is someone like him a match for our family’s background? Are you trying to do poverty alleviation?”

Hearing this, Xie Qingxiao’s expression changed drastically. He subconsciously glanced at Gu Siyuan first.

However, he saw that his boyfriend still maintained his usual calm and steady demeanor, looking as if Mount Tai could collapse before him without him batting an eye. Clearly, he hadn’t taken Xie Chengfeng’s words to heart at all.

Xie Qingxiao felt a little relieved.

He looked back at Xie Chengfeng, his tone becoming exceptionally tough: “Dad, it’s the 21st century now, you’re not still trying to pull that arranged marriage crap, are you? Poverty alleviation? With your bit of wealth that goes bankrupt at the drop of a hat, Gu Siyuan really wouldn’t even care for it.”

Xie Qingxiao thought inwardly: Perhaps Gu Siyuan isn’t as rich as Xie Chengfeng right now, but given how he has firmly established himself in a cutting-edge industry at such a young age, with a company car for commuting, it won’t take many years for him to leave Xie Chengfeng in the dust.

Xie Chengfeng was in no mood to listen to him. Seeing Secretary Qiao’s terribly ugly expression, he slammed the table and roared, “I don’t know what kind of mind-altering potion this brat gave you! I gave birth to you and raised you, can’t I even make the decision on this small matter?”

“Heh…” A sudden laugh broke the silence in the room.

Everyone’s gaze shifted over.

Xie Qingxiao looked at his boyfriend. He felt like he hadn’t heard this kind of laugh from his mouth in a long time, and surprisingly felt a bit nostalgic.

Gu Siyuan crossed his hands over his knees, looking calmly at Xie Chengfeng: “Mr. Xie, let’s not continue stringing along these baseless words. Why not just say it straight? For instance, what kind of deal did you and Chairman Zhang make using Xie Qingxiao?”

Xie Chengfeng’s face shifted rapidly.

Although Xie Qingxiao had a bad premonition early on, it was only now that he truly confirmed it: “Dad, what did you do?”

Xie Chengfeng avoided his gaze.

However, Secretary Qiao clearly wasn’t a patient man. Seeing this, he directly said: “Boss Xie, you should just explain it clearly to your son. A two-legged toad is hard to find, but is a two-legged person hard to find? Chairman Zhang hates trouble the most, otherwise, he wouldn’t have sought out your family.”

Xie Chengfeng immediately flushed red.

After hesitating for a moment, he finally said it directly: “Qingxiao, Chairman Zhang’s injection of funds into our company to help us through this crisis came with conditions. He hopes you will marry him.”

Xie Qingxiao was dumbfounded: “Who is Chairman Zhang? Why would he know me? I just turned eighteen, I haven’t even gone to college yet. How can I get married? What kind of joke are you playing?”

“To be precise, it’s not marriage, just being a free pregnant husband,” Gu Siyuan’s face was as cold as ice. “After all, everyone in the City A business circle knows that Chairman Zhang of Qinghe Investment is not only a chronic womanizer but also chronically abusive. He has already beaten and chased away three wives. Oh right, this Chairman Zhang is exactly 50 years old this year. Probably as retribution, he hasn’t had any children yet. Now he finally wants to find an Omega with a clean background and a decent education, who will also let him do whatever he wants, to marry and have a child for him.”

Having this hidden information bluntly exposed by him, the faces of the other two in the room changed.

“Young man, who are you? It seems you know quite a lot!” Secretary Qiao began to carefully scrutinize Gu Siyuan, feeling like he had heard this name somewhere before.

After hearing Gu Siyuan’s words, Xie Qingxiao was shocked to the extreme. He sneered and looked at Xie Chengfeng: “I see you’ve truly gone mad. It’s impossible for me to agree to this kind of thing.”

Xie Chengfeng flew into a rage, pointing at Xie Qingxiao: “You don’t agree? Do you want to watch our family go bankrupt and close down?”

Xie Qingxiao nodded: “I’d love to. It’s best if it goes bankrupt right now.”

“You rebellious son!” Xie Chengfeng almost passed out from anger right then and there.

Xie Qingxiao narrowed his eyes. He had acted obedient and clever, pleasing Xie Chengfeng for so many years, but the result was that Xie Chengfeng still wanted to sell his son for wealth and glory. Since that was the case, why should he hold back anymore?

Hmph, he had never been someone who repaid malice with kindness anyway.

Right at this moment, there was a knock on the door outside.

Gu Siyuan lightly tapped his fingers and said slowly: “Mr. Xie had better not faint so quickly, there might still be a turn of events.”

Xie Chengfeng sneered: “A turn of events? Could it be that I can count on a greenhorn like you to come up with a solution?”

“It’s none of his business,” Xie Qingxiao said as he walked over to open the door.

Soon, he led a young man in a sharp suit and several uniformed police officers into the living room.

One of the officers stepped forward first and asked, “May I ask who is Mr. Xie Chengfeng?”

“I am.” Xie Chengfeng immediately stood up: “Hello, may I ask who you are?”

“I’m from the anti-smuggling unit. My surname is Li,” the leading officer said sternly. “We seized a batch of smuggled goods today. According to the confession of one of the suspects, a portion of the funds for the goods was co-provided by you in this conspiracy.”

Xie Chengfeng’s face instantly turned ashen.

On the other side, when Secretary Qiao saw the young man who had walked in, he looked quite pleasantly surprised: “This is Special Assistant Xu! What brings you here?”

“Is that Secretary Qiao?” The young man addressed as Special Assistant Xu nodded politely, then looked toward Gu Siyuan sitting on the sofa and walked straight to his side: “I’m here to find our CEO Gu.”

“Ah…” Secretary Qiao blinked, seemingly not hearing clearly. It took a long while before he slowly said: “The CEO Gu you mentioned? Is it the founder and largest shareholder of Yuanxing Technology, Gu Siyuan?”

Special Assistant Xu nodded: “Naturally.”

Secretary Qiao looked at Gu Siyuan’s overly young face, his fingertips trembling in disbelief: “He… he is Gu Siyuan?”

“The genuine article. Therefore, Secretary Qiao should be a bit more polite to our CEO Gu!”

Special Assistant Xu looked at the finger he was pointing, his gaze chilling.

Secretary Qiao immediately retracted his hand.

Everyone in the industry knew that Yuanxing Technology was a legendary dark horse. In less than a year, it had turned from a small lifestyle social networking site into one of the Internet capital powers that could not be ignored in today’s market.

And its founder was a legend among legends. Up until now, most people had only heard his name but had never seen him in person.

Thus, most people guessed he might be backed by overseas Chinese capital, or a descendant of some wealthy, prominent family.

No one ever expected him to be just a self-made young man whose parents had passed away…

“Mr. Xie, please come back with us to cooperate with the investigation.” The customs officers on the other side were only short of pulling out the silver handcuffs.

“No, no, there’s a misunderstanding here.” Xie Chengfeng shook his head desperately, his face frighteningly pale.

He suddenly looked at Gu Siyuan and pleaded: “CEO Gu, CEO Gu, please help me explain!”

Although he was communicating with customs just now, he had also clearly heard Secretary Qiao’s words.

As an ambitious businessman, he paid close attention to the shifting winds of the market, and naturally knew what a massive powerhouse of capital Yuanxing Technology was.

And such capital definitely had a very good relationship with customs. Whether it was bail or anything else, it would be much easier to handle.

The corners of Gu Siyuan’s mouth hooked up slightly, and he was just about to speak.

But a gentle tug came from his sleeve. He looked down and saw Xie Qingxiao shaking his head at him.

Gu Siyuan’s expression remained unchanged. He politely extended a hand to the customs officers: “You comrades have worked hard. Mr. Xie probably has some misunderstanding about me. I believe the police and the law will handle this fairly.”

The person opposite also nodded: “Naturally it’s a misunderstanding. Speaking of which, we must thank CEO Gu for providing the information to assist in solving the case this time.”

“What does this mean…” Xie Chengfeng’s expression changed completely: “Gu Siyuan, what did you do? You can’t do this, I am Xie Qingxiao’s biological father, I am your father-in-law!”

By the time the two returned to Gu Siyuan’s residence, the moon was already high in the sky.

The floor-to-ceiling windows on the balcony were open, and the summer night breeze blew in slowly.

Xie Qingxiao got a glass of water and drank it slowly. Gu Siyuan sat on the sofa watching him, not speaking.

Xie Qingxiao looked down at him and said: “Did you already know that Xie Chengfeng was involved in a smuggling case, which is why you looked so confident when we went over earlier?”

Gu Siyuan nodded.

Xie Qingxiao asked again: “Was it also you who notified customs?”

Gu Siyuan nodded. Although his face remained unruffled, he felt a bit of apprehension in his heart. After all, Xie Chengfeng was Xie Qingxiao’s biological father. He didn’t know how Xie Qingxiao felt about this right now.

Xie Qingxiao put his cup aside, straddled his long legs, and sat directly on Gu Siyuan’s lap. He hugged his neck and whispered: “Well done!”

Gu Siyuan lowered his eyes and chuckled softly. Xie Qingxiao truly never disappointed him.

Resting his head on Gu Siyuan’s shoulder, Xie Qingxiao said softly: “You know I have a pair of step-brothers, right? They are only one year younger than me. My mom committed suicide because of his infidelity. I was only three years old then. Xie Chengfeng thinks I don’t know anything, but I actually remember everything.”

“I’ve endured since childhood, learning to be the most obedient child in the world, learning how to please Xie Chengfeng. However, this man Xie Chengfeng truly has no heart. Before I could even get my revenge on him, he tried to sell me out. In the end, retribution was swift, and he got himself locked up instead.”

Saying this, Xie Qingxiao suddenly began to laugh.

Gu Siyuan didn’t speak. He reached out to lift his chin and began to kiss his clear cheeks and thin eyelids.

In his past life, after Xie Qingxiao was expelled from Beichuan and sent home, he actually could have transferred schools to continue his studies.

However, at that very time, Xie Chengfeng’s business was scammed, and he went bankrupt overnight. In order to maintain his wealthy lifestyle, he sold his son for glory, plunging Xie Qingxiao’s life completely into hell.

In this life, Gu Siyuan knew this would happen early on, so he had people keep an eye on Xie Chengfeng’s so-called business partner.

Later, through investigation, he discovered that Xie Chengfeng and that person were actually collaborating in a smuggling business, privately selling domestic antique artifacts overseas. The so-called ‘business being scammed’ was merely him running into someone even more black-hearted and getting double-crossed by a fellow thief.

Therefore, he directly submitted the collected materials to the relevant authorities.

And at noon yesterday, customs caught that group of artifact traffickers attempting to smuggle the goods right in the act, successfully confiscating both the stolen goods and the illicit funds.

As a link in the domestic smuggling chain, although Xie Chengfeng had been abandoned midway, his attempted crime was a solid fact, more than enough to land him in deep water.

The kiss ended.

Xie Qingxiao stared straight at his boyfriend and chuckled softly: “However, it’s only now that I know Mr. Gu actually has such a net worth. It looks like I really have to commit myself to being Mr. Gu’s kept sugar baby?”

Gu Siyuan leaned back against the sofa, pinching his chin with one hand, and stared at the person, lazily saying: “Then… right now, what should this kept Classmate Xie do to please me?”

He had endured enough, and everything was finally settled.

Xie Qingxiao puffed out his cheeks: “Then Mr. Gu… you’d better not disappoint me this time.”

And very quickly, he learned what it meant to shoot himself in the foot.

He felt as if he were a little paper boat tossing about in a storm, where even the slightest wave could completely capsize him.

In the end, Xie Qingxiao passed out directly from exhaustion.

Naturally, the answer to the previous question was self-evident. Facts proved that Gu Siyuan was the most outstanding in everything he did.
