FIMA Ch135: The Little Couple [Arc 8]

In the depths of winter, the weather was cold and the wind was biting.

On the N University campus, the students who had just come out of their classrooms almost unanimously tightened their collars and hunched their shoulders.

In a dark alley a block away from the school, a group of people had a young man cornered in the middle.

“You really don’t appreciate favors when they’re given to you. Your skin is itching for a beating, isn’t it? If you want a beating so badly, I’ll grant your wish!”

Gu Siyuan had just regained a little consciousness when he heard such an angry roar vaguely entering his ears. He wiped his face, and his vision gradually cleared.

Standing in front of him were several young men with unfriendly expressions. The leader had blood-red cheeks and eyes spitting fire, spouting dirty words at him like a pot of water about to boil.

“You dog, heh, if I don’t kill you today, I…”

“So noisy!” Gu Siyuan rubbed his aching temples.

He had just arrived in this world, and a huge, tangled mess of information had been crammed into his head. He was currently experiencing a splitting headache. However, his careless attitude at this very moment was like adding fuel to the fire, greatly angering the group of delinquent youths in front of him.

“Good, you’re very good…” The leader stopped halfway through his curse, glared viciously at Gu Siyuan, and waved his hand backward, shouting, “Get him!”

The lackeys behind him had long been eager to try. Hearing this, they immediately swarmed forward.

“Bang… smack! Bang… smack…”

In the remote alleyway, several continuous muffled sounds echoed.

About two minutes later.

Gu Siyuan walked out of the alley, expressionless.

Heh, to think these little punks actually dared to target him…

He patted the dust off his black padded jacket, stood at the intersection and looked around for a bit, then walked towards the west gate of the N University campus according to the route in his memory.

Tao Xiangwen held his brunch in one hand and pushed open the door to Dorm 406 with the other.

He was met face-to-face with a figure coming out of the bathroom. The figure was tall and straight, his damp hair slicked back to reveal deep, stern eyes.

He froze for a moment: “Gu Siyuan?”

“Yeah.” Gu Siyuan nodded. Wiping his hair, he walked over to a chair and sat down.

Tao Xiangwen stared at him a few times before slowly sitting down at his own desk and putting down the brunch he had just bought. This Gu Siyuan was clearly the same person, so why did he feel much more upright and imposing today? Could he have been provoked by what happened yesterday?

Gu Siyuan ignored his gaze. He quickly dried his hair, forced himself through his headache to change the bedsheets and quilt cover, and then climbed into bed to lie down.

Tao Xiangwen quickly finished eating. Seeing this scene, he frowned: “Siyuan, are you going to sleep…”

He was about to play games, and he also had to turn on voice chat.

Gu Siyuan, recalling this classmate’s hobby from the original owner’s memories, said indifferently: “You play yours; I’ll sleep.”

Tao Xiangwen immediately smiled happily: “Alright, Siyuan, next time I’ll take you to run a dungeon!”

Gu Siyuan casually hummed in response.

Tao Xiangwen immediately opened the game Great Wilderness, and the beautiful background music started playing. This was a large-scale online game based on classical mythology combined with modern technological aesthetics. It was easily one of the hottest games out there—especially since its developer was a former honorary alumnus of N University. Therefore, it was incredibly popular on campus.

Amidst the sound of keyboard typing and Tao Xiangwen’s voice chat, three hours quickly passed.

Tao Xiangwen glanced at the time in the lower right corner of his screen, quickly excused himself from his in-game teammates, hastily grabbed his textbook from the bookshelf, and prepared to rush out. Before running out of the dorm, he paused. He turned around, rushed to Gu Siyuan’s bed, patted it vigorously, and shouted: “Siyuan, Siyuan, Old Wu’s class is this afternoon. If he calls attendance, our finals are doomed.”

Gu Siyuan immediately opened his eyes.

Old Wu was the original owner’s major course teacher. He was very strict: missing roll call twice meant an automatic failure, and missing it once resulted in a massive deduction of participation points.

He threw off the quilt, braced his hand on the railing, and vaulted straight down from the top bunk like a leaping rabbit. He grabbed his black padded jacket and jeans, threw them on, and followed his memory to quickly dig out his textbook from the desk. The whole process took less than ten seconds.

He then said to the dumbfounded Tao Xiangwen beside him: “Let’s go.”

“Ah, okay, okay…” Tao Xiangwen hurriedly responded and followed Gu Siyuan out the door blankly.

…Since when did Gu Siyuan become so good at acting cool?

The two of them had left late after all. Even while rushing, they arrived at the classroom almost exactly as the bell rang. And obviously, they weren’t the only ones in this situation. As a result, a traffic jam naturally occurred at the narrow classroom door.

Gu Siyuan’s eyes narrowed. Reacting extremely quickly, he caught the thin figure that crashed into his arms, pulling the person towards the white wall on the right to prevent him from bouncing back and hitting the slightly cracked glass door behind him.

Xie Fengqing raised his head. When his gaze fell on the face of the person in front of him, he immediately frowned in disgust. Ignoring the fact that he hadn’t fully regained his balance, he began to push and struggle vigorously.

Unexpectedly, this guy’s strength was surprisingly great, and he couldn’t break free. Xie Fengqing became even more annoyed and snapped in a low voice: “Let go.”

The students in the classroom were already dumbfounded.

Gu Siyuan has a lot of nerve, to actually dare to pin Xie Fengqing against the wall in broad daylight… What is he doing? Is he begging to get back together? Didn’t they just break up yesterday? Isn’t this a little too exciting?

“Cough cough…”

At that moment, a heavy cough sounded. Old Wu, carrying his textbook, stood outside the door glaring at the two students.

Gu Siyuan glanced at the person squeezed between him and the wall and released his hands.

At the exact same time, a familiar, cold mechanical voice sounded in his head.

“Hello, Host. This is your mission target for this world—Xie Fengqing.”

Xie Fengqing had never been so humiliated in his life. Last night, this guy cheated on him in front of everyone. Today in class, this guy actually dared to treat him like this…

He forcefully pushed Gu Siyuan away and hurriedly walked towards his seat with an ugly expression.

Few people dared to skip Old Wu’s class. Right now, except for the first row, everywhere else was basically full. Gu Siyuan scanned the room casually and walked towards a window seat on the left side of the first row. After sitting down, he clearly felt various probing gazes from all directions.

Among them, one gaze carried the most intense emotion. It came precisely from his classmate sitting directly behind him, Xie Fengqing. The disgust in it soared straight to the sky.

Tao Xiangwen sat next to him, unable to stop himself from secretly peeking over. Gu Siyuan is really a badass. He actually still dared to sit so close to Xie Fengqing? Before leaving the KTV yesterday, he had even heard Qiu Yu telling Xie Fengqing that they should hire someone to ruthlessly teach Gu Siyuan a lesson…

Gu Siyuan said coldly: “Turn your head around, class is starting.”

“Oh…” Tao Xiangwen was startled.

During his few hours of rest in the dorm earlier, Gu Siyuan had completely processed all the information about this world, so he also knew why Xie Fengqing hated him so much.

This was a Mary Sue male-protagonist novel set in a world where same-sex marriage was legal.

The protagonist shou (bottom) was named Ying Ning. He came from a wealthy background, loved playing online games, and had a childhood sweetheart boyfriend of equal social standing. They had agreed to register for marriage as soon as they graduated from college. However, during his junior year, his family’s company ran into trouble, cash flow broke down, and they were on the verge of bankruptcy.

Seeing this, his boyfriend’s family immediately changed their tune, and his boyfriend was arranged to get engaged to someone else. In a fit of anger, Ying Ning agreed to his father’s request to enter a marriage of convenience with the protagonist gong (top), Zhuo Yaoxuan, in exchange for capital injection from the Zhuo family.

Zhuo Yaoxuan was the second son of the Zhuo family, the richest family in the city. He was six years older than Ying Ning and, due to some childhood events, had silently harbored feelings for Ying Ning for many years. He had actively orchestrated this marriage.

However, Ying Ning felt his agreement was just an impulsive decision. After calming down, he regretted it. Especially since Zhuo Yaoxuan’s reputation in the city was quite poor—rumor had it that he had psychological issues, was violent, and acted ruthlessly. So, Ying Ning played a little trick. Before officially registering, he asked Zhuo Yaoxuan out for a pre-marital negotiation.

He proposed that for both of their sakes, the marriage should have a one-and-a-half-year time limit—until he graduated from college. If they didn’t fall in love by then, they would simply divorce. During this period, they were not to consummate the marriage or reveal their marital status, so as not to ruin each other’s futures.

Ying Ning originally thought this would take a lot of convincing, but unexpectedly, Zhuo Yaoxuan agreed readily. To ensure Ying Ning had no worries, he even signed a divorce agreement in advance. Overjoyed, Ying Ning happily registered the marriage, moved into Zhuo Yaoxuan’s villa, and began their cohabitation. He went to school and played games every day, and Zhuo Yaoxuan spoiled him rotten without nagging him like his parents did.

By chance, while seeking shelter from the rain, Ying Ning met Xie Fengqing, who lived in the neighboring villa. A few days later, they ran into each other again at a local offline event for their online game. Since they lived close by, attended the same university, and played the same game, they naturally started chatting.

When Xie Fengqing asked about Ying Ning’s relationship with Zhuo Yaoxuan, Ying Ning hid the marriage, claiming he was merely a distant cousin staying there until graduation. After the event, it happened to be raining, so Ying Ning caught a ride home in Xie Fengqing’s car. From then on, they frequently gamed and attended events together.

Xie Fengqing had recently broken up with his first love—a cheating scumbag who had swindled his money. This time around, he naturally developed feelings for a pure boy like Ying Ning and began pursuing him. Though Ying Ning also had a favorable impression of Xie Fengqing, he couldn’t agree, claiming he wanted to wait until after graduation to discuss it. When pressed for a reason, Ying Ning looked conflicted and said he couldn’t tell him.

Thus, Xie Fengqing could only continue gaming with him, waiting for him to graduate.

However, during this period, through various accidents, the relationship between Ying Ning and Zhuo Yaoxuan developed rapidly. Zhuo Yaoxuan was a mature man who treated him with gentle consideration, helped him slap his ex-boyfriend’s face, and saved his family’s company. Ying Ning inevitably fell for him.

Right at that time, Zhuo Yaoxuan accidentally saw Ying Ning’s game chat logs and discovered Xie Fengqing’s feelings. Being a classic domineering CEO, he was gentle as a spring breeze toward Ying Ning but utterly ruthless toward rivals. Not only did he immediately send someone to warn Xie Fengqing, but he also pressured the Xie family’s business, ruining several of their projects.

Realizing his feelings had been toyed with yet again, and facing the pressure Zhuo Yaoxuan put on his family, Xie Fengqing was forced to study abroad.

After he left, Zhuo Yaoxuan and Ying Ning didn’t get together immediately. They went through numerous twists and turns, even nearly divorcing, while two other top-tier men fell for Ying Ning, causing even more drama.

A year later, when Xie Fengqing graduated and returned, he stumbled upon Ying Ning being kidnapped by the fiancée of one of his suitors. To save Ying Ning, Xie Fengqing took a knife from the kidnapper and died. At the end of the story, Zhuo Yaoxuan and Ying Ning lived happily ever after and named their adopted child “Yi Feng” (Remembering Feng) to express their gratitude for Xie Fengqing’s sacrifice.

Gu Siyuan had no comment on the plot of this story. But regarding his current identity, he let out a cold laugh.

The original owner of this body was none other than Xie Fengqing’s money-swindling, cheating scumbag of a first love. It was precisely because of his betrayal that Xie Fengqing changed his type and fell for a little white flower like Ying Ning.

And now, the person wearing the “scumbag” label was himself.

Tsk…

Old Wu stood at the podium, spit flying as he lectured. However, very few students were actually paying attention; everyone was lost in their own thoughts. Knowing the final exams were fast approaching and seeing the class acting like this, Old Wu was in a terrible mood. He decided to call someone up to the blackboard.

He pushed up his reading glasses, scanned the room, and pointed: “You two over there, what are you spacing out for? You were just hugging at the door earlier. Come up here and solve this problem.”

Hearing this, a wave of secretive chuckles and sweeping gazes instantly spread through the classroom. Even those who had been groggily dozing off woke up completely, eyes wide open to watch the drama.

Xie Fengqing’s expression looked absolutely murderous; he wished he could dismember Gu Siyuan right then and there.

Old Wu urged again: “You can’t do it, right? You can’t do it and you still have the nerve to space out. You two stand up and listen to the lecture. You have zero concentration.”

Gu Siyuan stood up. Xie Fengqing also stood up.

However, the next moment, Xie Fengqing watched helplessly as Gu Siyuan left his seat, walked up to the podium, picked up a piece of chalk, and stood in front of the blackboard, scribbling away.

“…” Xie Fengqing.

How could it be like this? So this is a world where only he gets hurt.

A moment later.

Old Wu stood by the side, looking at the clear working process and the accurate result. He nodded: “Not bad, written well. But, you still need to pay attention in class next time.”

Gu Siyuan nodded and was about to toss the chalk back into the box. Raising his eyes, he saw Xie Fengqing’s resentful face staring at him from below. He thought about it; this situation was somewhat his fault. So, he turned to Old Wu and said casually: “I also know another method. I solved it for him too, is that okay?”

“…” Old Wu.

Old Wu rolled his eyes and scoffed: “Then why don’t you take his final exam for him too, huh? This is studying and learning, not your young couple’s household chores where if one doesn’t want to do it, the other can do it for them. Alright, scram back to your seat.”

As soon as these words came out, the classroom erupted into roaring laughter. Many students were rocking back and forth, leaning on their desks, laughing until they couldn’t breathe.

“…”

Xie Fengqing swore a toxic oath: if he didn’t kill Gu Siyuan one day, he would take his last name.

  1. Oh shit, this world turned on the brutal mode, starting off as the cheating boyfriend, Gu Siyuan has A LOT of work to do, A LOT.
Normally I wouldn’t say: NEVER FORGIVE A CHEATER, but technically the one to cheat wasn’t Gu Siyuan…
