    Zhan Yan: “Four hours…”

“Jie, is that even human language you’re speaking?”

“You don’t dote on me anymore [Cat Accusation].”

Zhan Suiru: “Be good, stop acting spoiled.”

“I’m even giving up my beauty sleep for this.”

That was true… his sister was someone who could leave a broker hanging all night just to get her beauty sleep.

Zhan Yan took out a small Origin Pill and logged into the Dawn World before going to sleep at night.

He logged in at the random location where he had logged out last time, and the moment he came online, Zhan Yan was slightly dazed.

Hey, he remembered logging out on a plain overgrown with shrubs and wild grass. How come there was suddenly a lake next to him this time he logged in? Did connecting to reincarnation really have such a massive impact on the Dawn World’s terrain?

The center of the lake suddenly began to rise. The water swelled like a bulging mountain peak, flowing outward from the very top into a cascading waterfall.

Something massive was rapidly rising from the bottom of the lake.

Just as Zhan Yan was marveling in curiosity, the lake water quickly solved the mystery for him.

A gigantic Western dragon’s head breached the surface near the shore first. The colossal dragon eyes glared at Zhan Yan; after blinking twice, the vertical pupils abruptly dilated into perfect circles, shooting out anger that felt almost tangible.

“It’s you!” The giant dragon roared, causing the surrounding grass and shrubs to suddenly lean in one direction. The lake water surged even more fiercely and rapidly.

Zhan Yan took a bewildered step back, suddenly recalling the giant dragon whose eyelids he had accidentally propped open right when it was trying to sleep.

Ah, ah, he had heard this petty giant dragon had been hunting him down all along.

Then what was he waiting for? Just teleport to the core area and run away… Core area… Meow, why couldn’t he go back to the core area?!

Was this also a consequence of the Dawn World connecting to reincarnation?

The giant dragon’s front claws, which were connected to its wings, abruptly lifted out of the lake water, stomping one claw onto the shore. A massive crater instantly caved into the lake bank.

Well, now he knew how this big lake got here.

Zhan Yan turned around and ran.

Seeing him flee, the giant dragon’s anger flared even hotter, roaring: “Little thief, don’t run!”

It had already pulled more than half its body out of the lake, its wings whipping up a massive gale.

Zhan Yan ran even faster, aided by the wind.

    “Jie, help me ahhh!”

Why hasn’t my sister appeared yet?

Oh right, he and his sister hadn’t agreed on a specific time to log on, just that they would log on at night.

    Fatal mistake!

The giant dragon had already roared and taken flight. Feeling the chill at his back, Zhan Yan ran faster and faster, traversing mountains, weaving through forests, and crossing rivers.

The NPCs in the Dawn World only felt a massive gust of wind blow past them without even seeing clearly what it was, and immediately after, the furious roar of a giant dragon rang from the sky.

“Little thief”? What little thief? Was the giant dragon’s treasure stolen?

Little Thief Zhan took the dragon for a walk across nearly half the continent in the Dawn World before Zhan Suiru finally logged on, arriving late to pin the giant dragon down.

Zhan Yan, sporting his two-meter-thirty stature, patted his chest: “Scared me to death! Jie, why did it take you so long?”

Zhan Suiru silently turned her eyes away.

In the past, when she didn’t know this was Yan Yan’s vest and treated him like a little dragon demon, she didn’t think there was anything special. Now, watching this imposing, burly shell make those familiar gestures, it was truly… hard on the eyes.

Zhan Suiru: “Why didn’t you log off?”

Zhan Yan: “If I log off right there, I’ll have to log back in right there. When this dragon sees me disappear, won’t I just get blocked by him guarding the spot?”

Zhan Suiru: “You should log off and contact me. I’ll come on first and grab him.”

Zhan Yan: …Oh right. Why hadn’t he thought of something so simple just now?

He must have been stunned silly by his sister’s declaration of only sleeping four hours a day!

Unable to stand the humiliation of being ignored like this by the siblings, the giant dragon struggled to spread its wings, raising its head and tail: “Roar! You shameless bunch of…”

Zhan Suiru slapped the dragon on the head. Another crater appeared on the ground.

Zhan Yan’s eyes sparkled: “Jie, you’re amazing!”

Zhan Suiru teleported the unconscious dragon away. She hopped off the dragon, and her elevation dropped instantly. Facing her two-meter-thirty brother, she had no choice but to look up.

“…What made you think of molding a dragon head?”

Zhan Yan: “It’s so fun, how cool is it to have a dragon head!”

Zhan Suiru: “And this body shape of yours?”

Why did Yan Yan have to mold a two-meter-thirty double-door refrigerator build? It looked so awkward!

Zhan Yan squeezed his arm muscles in sheer satisfaction: “In a game world, of course it’s fun to make a body shape different from reality.”

Zhan Suiru: …Did their dad force the kid to exercise all day, making him watch that fitness blogger named Wen whatever, and end up warping Yan Yan’s aesthetic?

“That dragon has memorized you; next time you log on, he’ll still hunt you.”

Zhan Yan: “…Jie, do you know how to change appearances?”

Zhan Suiru opened a small backdoor for Zhan Yan to create a new avatar.

This time the height was normal, but Zhan Yan added a tail for himself.

    Zhan Suiru: ?

Zhan Yan: “If I get the chance to not be human, of course I have to try it out.”

Growing wings, or becoming a centaur or merman, was definitely a no-go; the unlucky bunch from the Abnormal Affairs Management Bureau had already set a precedent for him. He had already tried having horns on his head, so this time he’d just go with a tail.

Staring at the tail swaying back and forth behind her brother, Zhan Suiru was hard-cc’d for two seconds. It was kind of cute.

Forget it, if her brother wanted a tail, let him have a tail. He liked the dragon head and the tail, perhaps because subconsciously he believed he was supposed to look like that.

Zhan Yan was very excited: “Jie, how exactly do you use that mental energy of yours?”

He wanted to be cool and handsome like that too!

Zhan Suiru pulled her gaze away from his tail: “How did you manage to lead that dragon around just now?”

Zhan Yan paused for a moment, then came to a sudden realization: “Oh right.”

Normally, he absolutely couldn’t outrun that dragon. So had he learned to use his mental energy under the pressure of a crisis? He really was a little genius!

Zhan Suiru slowly revealed a smile: “Therefore, your abilities are still unstable right now. You still need to step up your training…”

At six o’clock the next morning, Zhan Yan woke up groggy and dazed.

Gu Jiancheng noticed his condition was off and was very worried: “Yan Yan, what’s wrong?”

Zhan Yan pulled up the corners of his mouth: “I’m fine, probably just a bit unaccustomed to the bed.”

Relying on pills to sleep only four hours a day, what did it feel like? Basically, he wasn’t physically sleepy, and mentally he was very energetic, but he just felt unused to it. Very unused to it!

After grinding for a week, Zhan Yan started to miss his brother’s sweet bread.

What was wrong with sweet bread? Wasn’t it just a little sweet? At least it didn’t have the function of replacing sleep. If he was still eating sweet bread right now, his sister would have absolutely no excuse to force him to grind down to sleeping four hours a day!

Zhan Suiru ruffled the soft curls on her brother’s head that had grown slightly longer: “Be content. We recently found clues on the Monster Doctor and other Infinite lairs, so Mom and Dad are both busy. Otherwise, the two of them planned to take turns following you around.”

She was also very busy, using mental imprints to help pinpoint locations. If only their older brother, Zhan Jinli, was here, they could have him watch over Yan Yan. Sigh, why is Big Brother recovering his divine ability so slowly?

Zhan Yan vaguely felt something was a bit off. His family’s protectiveness seemed a bit excessively intense. But he thought and thought, yet always felt like there was a barrier in his mind, and he just couldn’t put his finger on it. He must have been turned stupid by only sleeping four hours a day lately!

“Aren’t you interning with Deep Shadow? Spend more time with him during this period; don’t separate,” Zhan Suiru continued to instruct.

Zhan Yan thought to himself that if Xiao Gu heard this news, he’d be thrilled.

The cattle farm wasn’t locked down; they could leave during off-work hours. The location of Antai Ranch wasn’t considered remote, about three bus stops away from the nearest town. They could absolutely go out to have fun during their days off. The local cuisine and lifestyle here were also quite different and well worth exploring.

On Friday night, after everyone finished eating together in the cafeteria, they started figuring out where to go have fun on Saturday and Sunday.

The work at the cattle farm consumed quite a bit of physical energy; hoof trimming, feeding, and even giving injections were not easy tasks. Cows were strong, ate a lot, and had thick skin; if one lacked strength, the syringe needle couldn’t even pierce the cowhide.

A classmate with poor physical stamina still hadn’t adjusted by the first week, waving his hand weakly at the dining table as if on his last breath: “Not going, not going. I’m going to sleep in the dorm for the whole day this weekend.”

“Hey, Zhan Yan, are you coming with us?”

Zhan Yan answered listlessly: “No, I’m going to sleep the whole day this weekend too.”

    “Ah?”

Zhan Yan’s physical stamina was great. A couple of days ago, when the classmate squatted in the wrong spot and was nearly kicked by a cow, it was Zhan Yan passing by who, with sharp eyes and quick hands, grabbed the cow’s hoof, saving his face from being kicked into disfigurement.

How much strength did a cow have? With Zhan Yan’s physical stamina, it shouldn’t be to the point of needing to catch up on sleep on the weekend after just a few days of interning.

Even though they were assigned to different groups, Gu Jiancheng had been doing his utmost these past few days to find time to stick close to Zhan Yan. But Zhan Yan had been going to bed very early every night, looking as if he were drained of energy. Gu Jiancheng secretly checked him with the Pen of Diagnosis, but there were no problems whatsoever.

He was still looking forward to spending the weekend with Yan Yan. It didn’t matter if they went out or not, the important thing was being together. Even just strolling around the small plaza matching the factory or the front and back yards of the dorms would be fine.

Zhan Yan noticed Gu Jiancheng’s dejected little expression. Sorry, Xiao Gu. I’ve been driven crazy with grinding lately, mostly just mentally exhausted.

Sigh, he didn’t even know how long he had to grind until he was considered qualified. He could already fly into the sky and tunnel into the earth in the Dawn World, but it just wasn’t very stable. His sister said he couldn’t use the Dawn World to transfer mental energy into reality right now because during the transfer process, this instability would be amplified. Using mental energy in reality would easily lead to accidents.

Zhan Yan thought for a moment and whispered into Gu Jiancheng’s ear: “In two weeks, after I get used to it, let’s go watch the sunrise and sunset on the prairie together.”

Gu Jiancheng’s eyes lit up instantly.

Zhan Yan felt his heart flutter looking at him. He thought to himself, wasn’t it just grinding? He’d get used to it as he grinded. Once he got used to it, even if he only slept four hours a day, he would still have the energy to go on dates with the beauty!

This internship had a total of four groups, staying in each for three weeks before rotating to another.

In the second week, the Animal Husbandry group began going out to inspect the pastures and test the soil.

The senior employees of the ranch drove them to the pastures. In just these few days, the green prairie had begun to turn yellow. People scattered across the grassland looked like stars dotting the prairie.

“We have to start cutting grass for storage now, keeping it as rations for the cows during winter,” the senior employee said.

On the pasture, employees were busy driving mowers. On the side were balers and stacked hayricks.

Zhan Yan and the classmate assigned to his group walked along the edge of the pasture so as not to disturb people’s work.

Bundles of grass were stacked into ricks. Standing next to them was a young man wearing a hat, holding a pitchfork. He stood there motionless with his back to them, his shoulders trembling.

The classmate leaned over: “Hey, bro, what’s wrong with you?”

Was this employee having some sort of medical episode?

Zhan Yan felt something was quite off. He put his hand on his classmate’s shoulder and quietly pulled him back, putting a few steps of distance between them and the young man.

The Monster Doctor slowly turned around, the corners of his mouth lifting into a bizarre arc: “It’s nothing. I’m just, too happy.”
