UCTOOT CH142
Shi Shu was at home during summer vacation, sitting at his computer desk playing games, when he suddenly heard the sound of nails scratching against the door.
“Who is it?”
Shi Shu looked through the peephole but saw nothing. He was about to go back when the scratching started again.
Scritch-scratch~ Scritch-scratch~
Shi Shu looked again—still no one. But he opened the door anyway. Unexpectedly, a cat with grey-brown fur was squatting at the doorway, its paws covered in mud, scratching at the door.
Shi Shu: “Holy crap, whose kid is this? How did it run over here?”
Shi Shu looked down and saw that the cat seemed to have a request to enter. Shi Shu picked it up with one hand. Its paw pads were covered in dust and mud; everywhere it had walked was full of footprints. “Are you a stray cat?”
The cat seemed to want to hook its claws into his pant leg but refrained because its paws were dirty. It craned its neck to peek inside the door again.
Shi Shu: “You want into my room? No, seriously, whose kid are you?”
Shi Shu took a step back, and the cat took a step forward, stepping onto the mat but refusing to go any further.
Shi Shu crouched down: “What’s wrong?”
The cat pressed its paw on the ground, leaving a footprint, indicating that it would make a mess. Shi Shu finally understood. He grabbed it by the scruff of its neck, lifted it up, and wiped its paws clean with a wet wipe. Sure enough, the cat looked at its paws and finally entered the room.
Shi Shu trailed behind, going “Hey, hey, hey?”, thinking it would hide out of stress. Unexpectedly, the cat ran straight into Shi Shu’s bedroom and scratched at the door again. Scritch-scratch, scritch-scratch~
Shi Shu: “You want into my room?”
Shi Shu pushed the door open. He watched the cat run in, jump immediately onto the desk, swipe a paw at a vertically placed photo frame, press directly onto Xie Wuchi’s face in the photo, and then laboriously turn the frame to face itself.
Shi Shu walked over and wiped the surface of the album with a tissue. “You little kid, don’t paw at things randomly, you’ll get them dirty.”
After saying that, he gently tapped the cat’s forehead with his fingertip.
The cat lowered its head and touched his fingertip with the tip of its nose. Shi Shu was instantly charmed. He was just about to pet it, but the cat jumped off the table and scampered away.
Shi Shu: “Where are you going? What does this mean? Whose lost cat is this? Or is it a stray? Do I have a cat now? I acquired a cat via home invasion?”
Shi Shu followed behind it. He saw the cat run into the bathroom, jump into the sink, and roll around, getting its whole body wet.
Shi Shu: “What’s the meaning of this?”
The cat pawed at the faucet again, pawing vigorously until it was soaked. Shi Shu finally understood: “You want a bath?”
The cat nodded. Shi Shu made a sound of surprise, thinking this kitten was weird, but turned on the warm water to bathe it. Shi Shu knew that most cats were afraid of water, but this one didn’t seem to be. It obediently held onto the edge of the sink while being washed. After the bath, Shi Shu wrapped it in a dry towel, wiped off the water first, and then blew its fur dry.
It was a tiny thing, looking like a kitten but extremely intelligent. The moment Shi Shu finished washing it, the cat started rubbing against his hand, clawing at his hoodie sleeve, climbing up toward his shoulder.
Shi Shu: “Eh, I thought you were aloof? Not aloof?”
The cat was already standing on his shoulder, leaning close to rub against his face. It was fuzzy and soft.
Shi Shu: “Holy crap, you’re too good at this!”
Shi Shu clutched his chest, charmed to death, his mood unconsciously soaring. He took his phone and snapped pictures from various angles. “Let’s take a selfie.”
Then, Shi Shu quickly sent it to Xie Wuchi: [Look! There’s a cat!]
Shi Shu was afraid the cat would fall, so he hurriedly caught it in his arms. The cat poked its head out to nuzzle his jaw, its wet nose tip touching his lips.
Shi Shu: “So cute, damn it.”
Shi Shu carried it back to the bedroom. He used his phone to buy a litter box and cat food. The cat squatted on his wrist, its paw pressing on the phone screen.
“You’re choosing the litter box yourself? Not impossible. What about cat food?”
The cat paw pressed down.
Shi Shu: “Low sodium, coat beautifying, enhances cardiopulmonary function? You have a very strong sense of self-management.”
Shi Shu teased it while talking. After the cat finished looking at the phone, it curled up in his arms again, rubbing against his jaw and licking the skin of his neck under the hoodie.
Shi Shu squeezed its paws. Unexpectedly, the kitten acted very familiar, curled up in his arms, and fell asleep.
Shi Shu: “Huh?”
Shi Shu took a photo and posted it in the building owners’ group chat, asking: [Is this anyone’s cat?]
No one claimed a lost cat, but one person said: [How did it get into your house? I just saw it at the elevator entrance and was about to catch it to raise it. Good lord, it bit me, turned around, and shot up the stairs!]
Shi Shu: [Ah?]
It shot from the first floor to the eighteenth floor? Purely on foot? After all, the motto of stray cats: He who hesitates is lost.
Shi Shu gently tapped its sleeping forehead: “No wonder you’re so tired. How far did you run? Go to sleep.”
Cats are easily startled, so it wasn’t convenient for Shi Shu to move around. Fortunately, he didn’t have anything to do, so he sat in the chair looking through his phone album.
The album contained many photos with Xie Wuchi. Xie Wuchi had a habit of documenting life, including many selfies with him. Shi Shu often scrolled through the album when he was bored; looking at a picture could recall the mood he and Xie Wuchi were in at that time.
After scrolling for a while, his limbs went numb, so he carried the cat to the bed and lay down. The cat woke up once, looked at him, and then slept by Shi Shu’s head, right next to him.
A bit too familiar, this cat.
Shi Shu continued to look through the album. There were some intimate photos, all locked, and some photos and videos of kissing. He glanced at them twice and hurriedly swiped away—purely a hobby.
However, Xie Wuchi hadn’t replied to his messages today. He was on a business trip abroad. Shi Shu wasn’t anxious; he would reply as soon as he was free.
Shi Shu studied for a while longer. The purchased cat food and litter arrived. The cat, after sleeping for a few hours, opened its eyes too. It made eye contact with Shi Shu, leaned in, and rubbed his chin again.
Shi Shu finally discovered a problem: “How come you don’t meow?”
The cat: “…”
Is that right? A kitten, its meow must be cute.
Shi Shu: “Meow once.”
The cat rubbed against him, wanting to be held, but wouldn’t meow.
“Magical. It can’t speak.” Shi Shu carried it off the bed. The cat was very clingy. He mixed some goat milk powder for it and grabbed some cat food to put in the bowl.
It drank two sips of goat milk, but refused to eat the cat food no matter what. Shi Shu squatted and looked at him: “Why aren’t you eating? Do you not like the cat food? This is the cardiopulmonary-enhancing, low-sodium, coat-beautifying food you chose yourself.”
Shi Shu grabbed a handful. Unexpectedly, when placed in his palm, the cat leaned in and ate one piece.
The furry thing rubbed against his palm. Shi Shu: “You… are so well-behaved…”
Shi Shu tried putting the cat food in his palm again. Sure enough, it ate.
Put it in the bowl? Won’t eat.
“Eh, tsundere kitty.” Shi Shu fed it one piece at a time from his palm, watching it lower its head, pick up a piece, crunch crunch crunch, and swallow.
Shi Shu: “How come you’re a kitten, but you also need people to spoil you?” Why did this clinginess and fastidiousness feel somewhat familiar?
Shi Shu finished feeding it and returned to the bedroom. His parents had gone traveling, so Shi Shu ordered takeout for himself. While he ate, the cat squatted by the table to keep him company. When he went to the bathroom, it scratched at the door from the outside. When he showered, it scratched and scratched. Shi Shu had no choice but to lay down a dry towel and place the cat on it while he washed his hair and bathed.
After showering, Shi Shu wore a white T-shirt, his black hair blown dry and hanging by his ears. He took out the cat teaser wand that came free with the food. Unexpectedly, the cat wasn’t interested. Instead, it ran back and forth on Shi Shu’s bed.
It seemed very familiar with Shi Shu’s room, walking around, then coming back to ask for a hug.
Shi Shu held it in his arms. It gently bit Shi Shu’s fingertip, but it didn’t hurt. Then it rubbed from Shi Shu’s chin to his fingertips before returning to his embrace.
Shi Shu: “Good lord.”
On his phone, Du Zihan contacted him to play games. Shi Shu sat at the desk and turned on the computer. The cat didn’t bother him; instead, it squatted by Shi Shu’s hand, seeming to observe what Shi Shu was playing.
Shi Shu pressed on the cat’s head as if it were a mouse and clicked twice: “Charge, charge, charge! Charge, charge, charge!”
The cat: “…”
The cat sat in front of the computer screen again, observing the game. Seeing that Shi Shu wasn’t playing too badly, it seemed sleepy again, curling into a ball on the mousepad, smelling Shi Shu’s scent to sleep.
Du Zihan invited his roommate. Hearing a very “pinched” (affected/cutesy) male voice, the cat propped up its head and looked at the screen.
This male voice was relatively pleasant, with a standard broadcasting accent, but it was indeed a bit affected. Every other word was “Baby, hold the bridge for me,” “Baby, do you have a medkit? Give me one,” “Baby, Baby, Baby…”
Shi Shu was quiet, thinking: There really are a lot of male gods on the internet. Flirty.
Xie Wuchi only flirted with him; this guy was playing a game and equally harassing everyone.
The cat woke up too, watching the screen. Waiting for the match to finish, suddenly, with lightning speed, it pressed the power button! Shi Shu’s screen went black instantly. He let out an “Eh?” and looked down at the perpetrator cat, who was meeting his gaze without a hint of guilt.
Shi Shu: “This temper. Did I disturb your sleep? Then I won’t play anymore today.” Shi Shu sent a message to Zihan, then lay down on the bed.
The kitten nestled by his neck. Shi Shu scratched its chin with one hand and checked his phone with the other: “Strange, why hasn’t Xie Wuchi replied to my messages today?”
He had sent over a dozen cat photos and selfies!
Was he really that busy?
Fortunately, Shi Shu wasn’t worried. Once Xie Wuchi was done, he would definitely reply to the messages one by one. Shi Shu lay back on the bed, getting ready to sleep. The cat rubbed against his chin, curled into his arms again, hugged Shi Shu’s arm, and slept with him.
What was the deal with this cat? Anyway, just raise it for now.
Shi Shu was afraid of crushing it, so he slept on his side holding the cat in his arms. The winter weather was turning cool, and the cat’s ears were icy cold. Shi Shu warmed them with his hand, tucked the quilt tightly, and cradled the kitten in his arms.
All night long, his arms were warm and toasty. Shi Shu sank into dreamland until he woke up early the next morning.
His body was very hot, embraced by a familiar feeling. Shi Shu lifted his head. He didn’t know when it started, but the kitten he was holding was gone. Instead, Xie Wuchi was lying under the quilt, hugging him, wearing no clothes, naked and fast asleep.
Shi Shu: “Hmm? When did you get here? Where’s the cat?”
Shi Shu looked up further. He didn’t know when, but Xie Wuchi had grown a pair of cat ears on his head, hidden by his black hair, with strands falling on his high, sharp nose bridge.
Shi Shu: “???” Xie Wuchi was yesterday’s cat?
Shi Shu reached out and touched his beast ears. His face instantly turned red. Xie Wuchi opened his eyes, waking up. The quilt couldn’t cover his naked shoulders and neck. He reached out and hooked Shi Shu closer, then rubbed against his jaw, seeming not fully awake.
The beast ears gently brushed across Shi Shu’s face. Shi Shu’s heartbeat accelerated. He reached out to touch his ears again. Half-asleep, Xie Wuchi sought Shi Shu’s lips and licked upwards in a kiss.
“Mmm…” Woke up and the cat changed
