DKIE CH100: Extra II

After the events with the Holy Court and the former Demon King were resolved, the continent was quiet for a period.

In a small house on Dragon Island, which was completely out of place with the island’s scenery, light refracted through the roof, creating a glassy, colorful hue. The surroundings were filled with layers of bookshelves, and a miniature dragon was comfortably enjoying a sunbath. This tranquility was broken after three seconds.

The visitor brought an inherent racial darkness. Even standing in front of the flower stand, the shadow would be noticed before the eye-catching face. Berlanie, enjoying his leisure time, didn’t even lift his head, able to identify the visitor by aura alone.

“What is it?” he asked. He still preferred paper books, his nearly transparent little claws lovingly flipping through the newly released second volume of “The Beloved Three and a Half Years Old.” His other claw didn’t forget to give a reward to the electronic version on the novel platform. In short, he was very busy right now.

Quill didn’t waste words and went straight to the point. “Last time we traveled between planes, you imprinted many books with magic.”

Hearing this, Berlanie still didn’t look up. He flicked his tail, the tip pointing to the bookshelf on the side. Quill walked over, pulled out several thick books, and began to read ten lines at a glance.

In the blink of an eye, it was almost Luka’s birthday again. After the coronation ceremony, there were many trivial matters to be resolved, among which the development planning of the Demon Realm was particularly tedious. Quill could only help Luka with the construction of the Land of Exile. For the past month, the two had been apart more than they were together. This birthday absolutely could not be treated carelessly. Mountains of gold and silver were too common, and heavenly treasures were too cheap. After thinking it over, he could only try to get inspiration from another plane.

It turned out that Quill was too optimistic. After dabbling in all types of books, he still couldn’t find a suitable gift. His brow had been furrowed for a long time.

On the other side, after crashing the reward page on the website, Berlanie contentedly logged out of the platform. Only then did he casually glance at the bookshelf. Seeing the other’s conflicted expression, Berlanie transformed back into his human form and took down a classic text.

【…This most successful and failed legend of the continent is suspected to be a necromancer. He does not care about life and death, and his expression would not change even if mountains and seas collapsed before him…】

This was the only bit of introduction left about Alex in the history books. Berlanie rigorously annotated in the margin: “Nonsense.” As he was putting the classic back, Quill’s voice came from behind. “Have you prepared Luka’s birthday gift?”

So that’s what he was troubled about.

“Of course.” Berlanie calmly went to the treasury and returned a moment later with an exquisite box. When opened, inside was a book-shaped ornament. It was ivory white, and it was unclear what material the whole thing was made of. Each page was as thin as a cicada’s wing. When opened, it could emit light and serve as a small night light. When closed, it would automatically activate an illusion spell, entering a virtual scene. These scenes were composed of a series of shadow puppets, telling the story of their defeat of the Demon King in the other world.

After seeing it, Quill instantly felt the pressure. How could it be so creative?! Hesitating for a moment, he asked, “What did the other dragons give?”

“Alice knitted boxing gloves with fire elements.”
“That fellow Rio found star-river sand from somewhere to make a pillow, ensuring it can be used often. I went to the Holy City a few days ago on business. The Saint is planning to give a partial chess game to see if Luka can solve it.”

Hearing that the Saint was giving this, Quill showed a faint sneer. Finally, a gift that wasn’t so great.

Berlanie promptly added the second half of the sentence: “The Saint said that if Luka solves it, he can make a request.”

Quill: “…”

Just destroy them all.

To avoid his own book being flipped through until it fell apart, Berlanie finally said something dragon-like. “A gift is sometimes like a souvenir, symbolizing a certain connection the two parties once had.” For example, the Dragon Clan and Luka were connected by books. The Saint mentioned that Luka was watching a chess game when he first went to the Holy Tower. “You can magnify this connection to choose a suitable gift.”

Quill seemed thoughtful after hearing this. A small, casual detail from a book he had read earlier came to mind, and he instantly had an idea. Forcing out a thank you from his throat, just as Quill was about to leave, Berlanie looked at the history book annotated with “Nonsense” and suddenly wanted to add a further supplement. After all, in the future, they would also be a page in the history books.

“Between your age and mine, who is older?” he asked, referring to Quill’s age when he first died.

However, as if he couldn’t understand dragon language, Quill said without changing his expression, “I am a newborn who has just grown up.” His body was newly born, he was very young, now of marriageable age, and a very good match for Luka.

Berlanie nodded, then left a new personality annotation on the historical data: “He admits he has low self-esteem.”

In the busy days, the sun rose and the moon set. On this day, Luka’s birthday party was lively for most of the day.

During this time, Luka received gifts until his hands were sore. After Lilian presented her gift, everyone subconsciously turned their gaze to Quill.

“What is it?” Lilian carefully craned her head.

Luka laughed to break the tension. “The most important thing is that we can get together and relax.”

Before he could finish his sentence, Quill had already taken out a softly wrapped item. It wasn’t large and was tied with a satin ribbon. There were no magic fluctuations, and it didn’t look like it had much weight. Everyone immediately became more curious.

Luka unveiled the mystery on the spot, carefully unwrapping it himself. It turned out to be a small notebook made of sheepskin scroll. He looked at Quill, puzzled. The latter slowly uttered four words: “A shared diary.”

Sharing is an incredibly happy thing. They were connected by a diary in the first place. With a shared diary, even when they were in different places, they could share their daily lives in a timely manner and put those unspeakable feelings into writing.

The notebook in his hand seemed to instantly have a different weight. Luka’s palm covered the slightly frosted cover. After a moment, a faint smile appeared on his face. He was not good at expressing his feelings verbally. The most primitive method of paper and pen was, coincidentally, also the most suitable.

“A very good gift.” The smile in Luka’s eyes deepened.

At this moment, Lilian stood at a wide angle with her shadow camera. “Um, all the gifts have been unwrapped. Come on, let’s take a photo to commemorate this!” Everyone was very cooperative in this matter. Luka and Quill stood in the very middle. With a three-second delay, Lilian quickly ran to the first row as well.

With a click, a white light flashed, and the colorful candlelight was frozen. Behind the dozens of layers of a large cake in the very front, the camera accurately recorded one smiling face after another.

The sweet taste of the cake and the laughter lasted from midnight until the sun first rose. After daybreak, everyone once again went their separate ways. This included Luka and Quill. A demonic mine had recently been discovered in Versailles Valley. Luka had to rush there immediately, while Quill continued to hold down the fort in the new district for him.

The diary was first taken by Luka. That evening, after dealing with a troublesome demonic beast raid, he sat on his couch and began to write. During this, his other hand couldn’t help but want to flip to the very end several times. Unfortunately, before they parted, Quill had specifically told him not to look at the last page yet.

After struggling back and forth for a long time, it finally turned into a faint sigh from the corner of his mouth. “Forget it.” He should stick to the agreement.

For the next half month, everything went very smoothly, except for one thing. He forgot to write in the diary.

Until one day, Berlanie suddenly paid a visit. “Weren’t you going to have me take the diary?” he asked.

“!!!”

That night, the lights in the room were brightly lit. The new Demon King was trying to create a miracle with a pen, a lamp, and a single night.

Berlanie was organizing his accounts and said seriously, “I’ve heard of human children having to make up for homework, but making up for a diary… is a rare sight.”

In the end, it was Berlanie who really couldn’t stand it anymore and said, “Although I don’t want to admit it, that person really does know you well.” When Alex gave him the notebook, he should have thought of this situation.

“That’s right.” Luka stopped his pen to ponder. Quill knew his personality; it was impossible for him to be completely unprepared. So why did he still ask for a shared diary?

Casting aside his initial guilt, Luka’s pen unconsciously poked at his cheek. As his dimple deepened, his eyes suddenly lit up. “I get it!” A diary can contain many genres. You can write essays, you can write poems, lyrics, and so on. Especially poems, which are an excellent way to pad a diary. Understanding is mutual. Quill understood Luka, and vice versa. Luka was almost certain that what the other wanted was a love poem.

Unfortunately… after writing two lines, he declared failure. “I’m really not good at writing poetry.”

He sat motionless for a long time. It wasn’t until the sky began to show the first light of dawn that this living fossil finally moved! Luka picked up his pen again, full of energy. With extreme speed, he drew three pictures. Each picture, when spread out, took up exactly two pages, padding a total of six pages of the diary.

Berlanie was surprised. “Just like that?” The drawings were very good, depicting a familiar scene, but he didn’t understand the meaning.

Luka calmly closed the diary and shared some handmade candy with Berlanie. “It will absolutely be more effective than a love letter,” he said with conviction.

Berlanie left with the shared diary. He quickly flew to the Land of Exile and found Quill, who was busy setting up a teleportation array. “Luka asked me to bring this to you.”

Hearing Luka’s name, Quill’s sharpness was automatically weakened. He took the diary. His face didn’t show it, but the speed at which his fingers flipped the pages was very fast. He flipped directly to the last few pages. When he discovered it was a drawing instead of a poem, Quill was a little surprised.

The illustration personally drawn by Luka seemed to have magic. With just one look, his fingertips paused abruptly. In the end, he almost let the edge of the paper cut his hand, which showed his agitated state of mind. Berlanie personally witnessed that reclusive face, where for a moment, a smile was about to swim into his eyes.

He was greatly puzzled. The diary contained a scene from when they were on the plane. The Dragon Clan’s thirst for knowledge made Berlanie unable to resist asking, “The same picture, why draw it three times?”

Quill: “It’s not the same.” The dragons really were getting presbyopic. The difference was so obvious.

Berlanie immediately began to doubt his dragon life, his scrutinizing gaze about to penetrate the paper.

Quill said very proudly, “Here.” His finger landed on Luka’s lips.

Berlanie was still puzzled.

Quill: “Look at the mouth shape.”

The three sketches were ninety-nine percent the same, but this was the one percent! The character’s mouth shape was different, clearly pronouncing different syllables. In the picture, Luka’s mouth opened and closed. Combined, they just happened to form ‘I love you.’

To this day, those simple three words still echoed like a lingering melody, unextinguished in his heart.

Quill lowered his eyes to gaze at the person in the drawing. After a long moment, he silently replied: I love you too.

Thus, the little couple, under Berlanie’s witness, successfully exchanged a long-distance declaration of love.

Berlanie: “…”

After Journey to the West, the television, with a price lower than the terminal, surpassed it and entered thousands of households. With the establishment of the first television station in the Demon Realm, more and more live programs began to appear.

One day, with no promotion, the official account simply posted a short update, which immediately became explosive news: the first Jialai Film Festival was announced. Due to the war, the festival had been postponed. The most watched award was undoubtedly Best Director. God of Forging had solidified Luka’s place in film history, making the award seem like a sure thing.

Then, Luka announced: “Due to serving as a judge, for the sake of fairness, I will not participate in any selections.” This act earned him immense praise. The people felt his magnanimity was far greater than the former Demon King’s, and he was more down-to-earth than the Saintess. His reputation soared.

The festival was a grand affair, held in Boulder City. As Luka and Quill arrived in a pumpkin carriage, the red carpet was already a chaotic scene of celebrities vying for attention. The judging panel was star-studded, including Berlanie, the Elf King, and the Dark Elf Matriarch.

During the awards, Luka had a ‘face cam’ feature that focused on the nominees right as the winner was announced, catching several of them mouthing curses in shock, to the amusement of the audience. The entire event was a huge success, filled with drama and spectacle.

On the final day of the festival, as the last fireworks exploded, Quill suddenly pulled Luka away to a teleportation array. The other major figures, sensing something, followed. They arrived in the Land of Exile to a bizarre celestial event. A sea of burning shadows filled the sky, and chaotic magical elements shot through the air.

Luka realized what was happening. “You’re breaking through?!” he asked Quill, a trace of excitement in his voice.

Quill smiled.

As reporters and guests who had followed them watched in astonishment, the sky filled not with lightning, but with the image of a giant golden book—the shared diary. Quill, in a display of power, solidified the illusion into the real diary and handed it to Luka.

Luka, who had been curious about the diary’s end, flipped to the last page. It was blank. But then he discovered a small, detailed slot in the back cover. A gleaming gold ring was nestled quietly inside.

As Luka stared at the ring, the plants, trees, and even the clouds around them began to move mechanically, playing music. It was a massive, orchestrated proposal, with thousands of plant puppets singing and dancing. Tiny dust particles floated in the air, repeating the whisper, “Will you?”

Amidst the symphony, Quill’s voice entered Luka’s mind, “Will you?”

Quill had planned everything meticulously. The proposal was disguised as a gift to avoid putting pressure on Luka. If he refused, Quill would have claimed it was a ploy to help the Wisdom Tree with its own breakthrough issues.

But Luka didn’t refuse. He slipped the ring onto his finger. It was a perfect fit. He thought it was gold, but the feeling against his skin was familiar and cold. It felt like bone. He held up his hand, the ring gleaming. That simple gesture was answer enough.

The crowd of onlookers was stunned into silence, then Berlanie’s cool voice cut through the confusion: “Can’t you tell? He’s proposing.”

The revelation sent shockwaves through the audience. The demons were aghast that their new king was taking a consort. The humans began analyzing the strategic implications. And Lilian, ever the professional, snapped the perfect photo of the “happy couple.” Amidst the chaos, applause erupted, a thundering wave of congratulations for the two new gods. Berlanie, meanwhile, took out a scroll and began to write a new page of history.

【A-list celebrity with billions of fans publicly accepts proposal after film festival, fans on site send their blessings.】

Far away, on the serene Elf Island, the Wisdom Tree was enjoying a peaceful life, having overcome its own bottleneck with the “help” of the massive data surge from the proposal news, which it had mistaken for a crisis. It was unaware of the joyous pandemonium it had inadvertently contributed to. The Dark Elves on a neighboring island, sensing its breakthrough, began playing celebratory music, which only made the sea around the Wisdom Tree tremble even more violently. The day of the proposal was truly a good day for all.
