GRMFBS CH128

A row of question marks appeared in the group chat.

Happy Guessing Game: “[Impossible! Absolutely impossible!]”

“With Shenying’s mental state, how could he possibly have love?”

“I don’t even have it!”

Loves Pineapple Buns: “I don’t either.”

Too Lazy to Pick a Screen Name: “Me neither.”

Waltz: “Me neither.”

The single dogs in the group refused to believe that Shenying had been saved by the magic of love.

If it weren’t for the gossip system, Zhan Yan wouldn’t believe that Shenying, with his dog-like temper, could have love either—he had double-checked that piece of gossip several times!

Approaching Science: “I speculate that he met a mysterious healing-type expert.”

Book of Mysteries: “Can we find out who it is?”

Tu Yue thought this speculation was more reliable. If Shenying had a way to heal himself, he wouldn’t have dragged it out to that extent.

Moreover, the information Tu Yue had was a bit more detailed. Shenying’s fluctuating state didn’t seem to have been achieved by some item or drug, but more like someone was by his side providing timely treatment.

Approaching Science: “I can’t find out.”

“You guys can try.”

Happy Guessing Game: “You can’t even find out?”

Too Lazy to Pick a Screen Name: “What level of expert would that have to be!”

Approaching Science was recognized in the group as having an extremely strong ability to break through information interference. If he could find information about Shenying but not about that healing-type expert, could the other party’s strength be even greater than Shenying’s?

Pure White Puzzle: “@Chewing Big Melon Have you heard of such a healing-type expert?”

Chewing Big Melon was someone in the group with a wonderfully wide range of information, often knowing many obscure and mysterious tidbits.

Chewing Big Melon: “Never heard of one.”

“Could it be an expert living in seclusion?”

Waltz: “How did Shenying dig out an expert who’s been in seclusion to this degree?”

Loves Pineapple Buns: “I’m more curious how he got such an expert to help him.”

Too Lazy to Pick a Screen Name: “Could it really be because of love?”

Chewing Big Melon: “The expert fell in love with Shenying at first sight?”

Happy Guessing Game: “No! I don’t believe it!”

Pure White Puzzle: “According to Gua Gua’s speculation, Shenying must be exceptionally good-looking.”

Chewing Big Melon: “《Shocking! The Top Superpower User Wanted by Three Parties is Actually a Super Beauty!》”

Zhan Yan found their speculations and imaginings quite amusing. He didn’t know if Shenying was good-looking, but he was definitely a love-struck fool. Judging by the way he had hurriedly called his partner last time, he was probably head over heels.

Powerful healing-type experts had always been a rare species, capable of saving lives at critical moments. Everyone was quite interested in the person who could heal Shenying, but since no one could find out, they could only speculate wildly.

Chewing Big Melon: “Maybe the healing-type expert had long sworn off the worldly affairs, but was moved by the tormented yet resilient Shenying, broke their vow to save him, and from then on, their feelings grew deeper and deeper…”

Waltz: “A face-con, hermit, divine doctor accidentally picks up a beautiful, strong, and tragic expert. Healing type, love at first sight, power couple, a match made in heaven…”

Happy Guessing Game: “Ahhh, I won’t listen, I won’t listen, I won’t listen!”

“@Waltz Don’t you have a partner either?”

“Traitor!”

Waltz: “But I love shipping.”

Chewing Big Melon: “I love shipping too.”

Pure White Puzzle: “I love shipping too.”

Zhan Yan thought their imaginations were quite wild, and the ship was quite cute.

After they had shipped to their hearts’ content, Zhan Yan took the opportunity to release another piece of information.

Approaching Science: “I do know another person related to Shenying.”

Book of Mysteries: “Who?”

Approaching Science: “Monster Doctor.”

Book of Mysteries: “The player from Infinite? Didn’t he die?”

Approaching Science: “Not completely dead. He’s an anomaly now.”

The group was shocked by this news.

Happy Guessing Game: “Can a living person turn into an anomaly?!”

Approaching Science: “He might not be alive anymore.”

Zhan Yan watched their reactions. He knew it. Shenying hadn’t asked anyone else to investigate Monster Doctor.

Seriously, shouldn’t you mobilize the masses to fight an enemy that harms society? Shenying is being so dramatic, thinking others are not capable enough so he won’t ask them to investigate together.

He had been so worried about his parents’ identities being exposed lately that he had forgotten about Monster Doctor. Today was a good opportunity to let everyone help investigate.

Due to the burgeoning interest in Shenying’s gossip, a group of people immediately went to investigate Monster Doctor.

This guy was not easy to investigate. Zhan Yan’s attempts to look him up were still a bunch of [Loading…].

As he was chatting in the group, Zhan Yan suddenly smelled a clear, moist scent of grass and trees.

The lights in the dorm were already out, and he couldn’t see anything. Zhan Yan subconsciously reached out and touched a warm hand, which was reaching over from the bed above his head. In its palm was a piece of diffuser wood, which hadn’t yet been placed by his pillow.

Gu Jiancheng was caught off guard, and his whole hand stiffened. Zhan Yan felt his fingers curl slightly, pausing for two seconds as if at a loss, then trying again to place the diffuser wood by his pillow.

It was already past Zhan Yan’s usual bedtime. Maybe he was a bit tired from returning to school today, or maybe his disrupted biological clock was acting up. Zhan Yan wanted to smell the scent of the grass and trees…

Does the scent of essential oils vary when diffused through different media? Zhan Yan didn’t know much about it, but he felt that this time the scent was different from when he had dripped it himself. It seemed to have passed through the warmth of another’s skin, and the diffused scent was also tinged with warmth, like a summer sun shower, sprinkling into his quilt on this late winter night.

He moved closer in the dark. The cool tip of his nose touched the soft skin of a wrist, his lips accidentally brushing against the joint of a little finger. Zhan Yan blinked, opened his mouth to say something, but his lips met an open hand.

The hand jerked back as if startled.

The old dorm bed creaked. The diffuser wood rolled to the edge of the bed and knocked against the wall with a thud. The sound of someone turning over came from the next bed.

Zhan Yan lay on the bed without moving. He felt that the person above his head was also not moving.

Both of their heartbeats accelerated quietly in the silent night.

Zhan Yan reached out and retrieved the diffuser wood. The wall was cold, but the diffuser wood still held a lingering warmth. Zhan Yan held it to his nose, closed his eyes, and another summer rain sprinkled over him.

“Good night,” he mouthed silently.

Gu Jiancheng pulled his hand back. He felt as if the cool touch still lingered on his wrist, and on his little finger too. He didn’t know how to place his hand, so he ended up just curling it gently.

His heart kept beating and beating, an unsettling feeling he hadn’t experienced in a long time.

Gu Jiancheng felt he had good reason to be unsettled. Although Zhan Yan had always dragged his feet about meeting the parents, his attitude back then was more akin to annoyance, like a small animal hesitating at the top of the stairs. So Gu Jiancheng could pester and coax Zhan Yan into agreeing.

Now when meeting the parents was mentioned again, Zhan Yan’s attitude had become one of worry.

Worry meant there was a problem. Gu Jiancheng’s mind raced for a long time, not knowing what the problem was, and he became agitated. Finally, he decided to go out and fight some anomalies to blow off steam.

But perhaps he had killed too many anomalies last year, as there was no news of any in Beiling City now.

Gu Jiancheng didn’t think his deterrent power was that great. He hadn’t left any marks, and not all anomalies had brains. It must be that those who investigate anomalies are all too incompetent!

Gu Jiancheng decided to look for Approaching Science.

Approaching Science hadn’t been online all night.

Gu Jiancheng: …

Why did you go to bed so early?!

The next morning, Zhan Yan woke up refreshed. As he turned over, he felt something pressing against his cheek. He took it out and saw it was the diffuser wood Gu Jiancheng had given him last night.

Zhan Yan placed the diffuser wood in the hanging basket by his bed. He wanted to wake Gu Jiancheng up, but seeing his eyes still closed, he suddenly remembered that his own sleep schedule had been adjusted earlier during the holiday. Gu Jiancheng should still be fast asleep.

Maybe I shouldn’t wake him?

As Zhan Yan was hesitating, Gu Jiancheng suddenly opened his eyes. He couldn’t help but smile.

Gu Jiancheng opened his eyes to see Zhan Yan looking at him with curved eyes. He pointed a finger towards the floor under the bed, then pulled it back and got out of bed to wash up.

The other two in the dorm were not yet awake. Zhan Yan and Gu Jiancheng didn’t speak, just exchanged a few hand gestures, got dressed, washed up, and went out.

“No running for morning exercise today. I learned a few sets of fitness exercises from others. We’ll practice this from now on!” Zhan Yan said.

Gu Jiancheng agreed, “Okay. What kind of fitness exercises?”

Zhan Yan first listed them out for him, “Baduanjin, Five-Animal Frolics, Yijin Jing, Tai Chi…”

Gu Jiancheng couldn’t help it. “Did you join some kind of elderly fitness group?”

Zhan Yan said, “Something like that. I met a lot of old seniors.”

Gu Jiancheng’s ability system and the traditional cultivation of this world were two completely different paths. He didn’t know which one to choose.

They had woken up too early, and the sky had not yet fully brightened. There was no one else on the playground. Zhan Yan stood under the gray sky, his breath turning into rising clouds of white vapor, the slightly curled hair by his ears swaying gently.

It was just the two of them.

Gu Jiancheng suddenly felt his heart pound violently.

“I want to learn them all, okay?”

His eyes were burning again, two bright black orbs, brighter than the morning star that hadn’t completely set behind him.

Zhan Yan was captivated by these two stars. The white vapor of his breath paused for a moment.

“Okay,” he said, only to realize his voice was incredibly soft. He quickly added, “Why do you want to learn them all?”

“I want to learn everything you know.”

Zhan Yan felt himself starting to burn in the cool morning air.

“Then let’s learn them all. Which one do you want to learn first?” Zhan Yan asked.

“You decide,” Gu Jiancheng said.

Zhan Yan decided to start with Yijin Jing. The name of this set of exercises sounded the most impressive.

He did a move, and Gu Jiancheng followed, and Zhan Yan would correct him if he wasn’t doing it correctly.

Halfway through their practice, an old professor in exercise clothes stopped beside them.

Next to their school was a family compound. In the early years, many old professors at the school were allocated houses and lived there with their families. Many elderly people had the habit of morning exercise and would come to the school playground to exercise when they had free time in the morning.

They had seen young people doing morning exercises before, but young people usually just ran, stretched, and did squats. It was rare to see them practicing martial arts.

After a while, another white-haired old man stopped next to the professor, and the two acquaintances started chatting.

“Old Lu, what do you think this student is practicing?”

“Not sure, never seen it before.”

“It’s definitely not Tai Chi.”

The two waited for a break and interjected, “What are you two practicing?”

Zhan Yan: “Yijin Jing.”

“Yijin Jing? Isn’t that from martial arts novels?”

At this point, another old professor walked over. “Hah, you don’t know, do you? There was originally a set of exercises called Yijin Jing. Martial arts novels used it later!”

“Do you know this Yijin Jing?”

“I don’t, but something that’s been passed down is definitely better than running and square dancing.”

The few of them were very interested in this legendary Yijin Jing and asked Zhan Yan, “Can you teach us to practice it?”

Zhan Yan readily agreed.

Gu Jiancheng: …My world for two!
