ASPWL Ch97: Eating Melons Together

On the day of their reunion, Ye Leyao told Qin Yao everything about himself.

After three timeline reboots, Ye Leyao had roughly grasped how to change the fates of supporting characters—by giving them the freedom to choose their own paths.

When supporting characters altered their life trajectories, it was recognized and accepted by the main system.

So in this third reboot, Ye Leyao’s sole purpose was clear: to change Qin Yao’s predetermined fate of death.

However, Ye Leyao couldn’t just tell Qin Yao about his fate, so he hid the fact that Qin Yao was destined to die, only sharing the other characters’ endings with him.

After hearing Ye Leyao’s explanation, Qin Yao thought for a long time before he asked, “So you came to find us this time just to help us?”

Ye Leyao nodded. “Yes.”

Qin Yao’s gaze held a hint of reproach as he looked at Ye Leyao.

Ye Leyao was surprised; he blinked, confirming he hadn’t misread, and asked, “Why are you looking at me like that?”

Although Ye Leyao had studied human emotions, human emotions were truly complex.

Most of the time, when he didn’t understand, he would ponder it himself.

But whenever he faced Qin Yao, he couldn’t help but ask directly.

Because Qin Yao had promised him that he could ask him anything at any time.

But this time, Qin Yao didn’t respond. He stared at Ye Leyao with a faintly resentful look, then turned away, saying quietly, “I’m… unhappy.”

Ye Leyao was instantly more confused and, for once, a little nervous.

Why would Qin Yao be unhappy?

Just a moment ago, he had been hugging him so excitedly; why suddenly…

Ye Leyao’s handsome brows furrowed, and he hesitated, feeling a guess forming but unsure.

Mama Huo had once told him that human affection came in many forms.

Some affections were enduring, often called love.

Others were fleeting, like a sudden blossom, and would disappear in an instant.

Such affection was known as novelty.

“Is it that your feelings for me were just novelty…”

Before Ye Leyao could finish speaking, Qin Yao’s hand suddenly reached out.

Qin Yao’s large, warm hand wrapped around Ye Leyao’s, his fingers gently stroking Ye Leyao’s hand, then interlacing their fingers tightly together.

Ye Leyao felt a slight tickling sensation as his fingers were rubbed. When he made a small retreat, Qin Yao quickly seized the opportunity and held his hand even tighter.

This feeling was strange, but surprisingly not unpleasant.

Ye Leyao didn’t resist again and only looked at Qin Yao with slight confusion.

Qin Yao sighed softly in his heart.

Although he didn’t understand why Ye Leyao appeared so innocent or why he had forgotten the things he’d said before, the worry was plain on his face.

Qin Yao had originally planned to tease him a little longer, to make Ye Leyao care about him a bit more.

But in the end, he couldn’t bring himself to do it.

Qin Yao’s voice was husky, yet full of tenderness: “How could I ever get tired of you?”

His Adam’s apple bobbed slightly as he uttered two deeply affectionate words: “Yaoyao, I like you. I really, really like you. I was upset earlier because you said you didn’t come here entirely for me—I got jealous.”

Ye Leyao felt as if a tiny brush were stroking his heart. When Qin Yao called him “Yaoyao,” his heart trembled a little; when Qin Yao said he liked him, it trembled even more. And when he explained that he’d been jealous, Leyao’s heart started pounding uncontrollably.

Thump, thump, thump—

The sound was so loud that it was distinctly audible on the quiet balcony.

Ye Leyao pursed his lips slightly and murmured, “Mm.”

Qin Yao smiled: “I seem to—”

Without thinking, Ye Leyao reached out to cover his lips, “Don’t say it!”

The slanted sunset light fell on the young man’s cheeks, tinting his fair skin the color of the evening sky.

Ye Leyao’s voice carried an involuntary tremor: “You… you can’t tease me like that anymore.”

Qin Yao’s smile widened, and he nodded without hesitation, “Alright.”

Not until the sun had completely dipped below the horizon did the flush on Ye Leyao’s cheeks begin to fade.

That night, under Ye Leyao’s guidance, Qin Yao made him a cup of oat milk once again.

The rich milk with oatmeal slid smoothly through his mouth, and the familiar taste made Ye Leyao narrow his eyes with satisfaction.

Seeing this, Qin Yao asked, “Does it taste good?”

Ye Leyao said, “Mm, it’s good,” then added, “I really like the milk you make for me.”

Qin Yao chuckled, “If you like it, I’ll make it for you every day from now on.”

Ye Leyao smiled and nodded, “Alright.”

Ye Leyao knew Qin Yao would keep his word, even helping him change everyone else’s outcomes.

Though this matter had nothing to do with Qin Yao, he still agreed without hesitation, and the next day, he had already created a series of plans.

Ye Leyao skimmed through Qin Yao’s plan. While it seemed well thought-out, he still had some doubts, so he looked at Qin Yao and couldn’t help but ask, “Will this really work?”

Qin Yao saw the uncertainty in Ye Leyao’s eyes and smiled gently. Sitting close beside him, he said with a smile, “Shall we give it a try first?”

Ye Leyao asked, “How do we try?”

Qin Yao replied, “Tomorrow, won’t Huo Yan be bringing his partner home?”

Ye Leyao was slightly surprised: “So you’re planning to—”

“Yes.” Qin Yao nodded without hesitation.

Since Qin Yao spoke with such confidence, Ye Leyao could only temporarily suppress his doubts.

He thought, if Qin Yao really messed it up tomorrow, he’d just have to step in.

If worse came to worst, he could write another system program to implant in Huo Yan’s mind, showing him Su Rui’s true colors.

He’d already done it once during the second timeline reset, so there was no chance of error this time.

It had to be said that Ye Leyao’s planning was indeed very thorough.

Unfortunately, he was, after all, a system that had only recently come to understand human emotions. His life experience was still shallow, and he couldn’t yet match Qin Yao’s “savvy.”

So the next day, Ye Leyao followed Qin Yao to the Huo residence, where he received a profound lesson in worldliness.

The Qin family and the Huo family had always been in contact, and Qin Yao and Huo Yan were old acquaintances. Since that day was Huo Yan’s special occasion of bringing his boyfriend home, Qin Yao couldn’t just show up unannounced, so he arranged an “accidental” encounter with Huo Jing, then suggested they discuss business together.

As for Ye Leyao.

Qin Yao introduced him with a smile: “This is Ye Leyao; he’s my… assistant.”

Ye Leyao picked up on Qin Yao’s signal and played along, “Yes, I’m Qin… Mr. Qin’s assistant. Hello, Mr. Huo.”

Huo Jing nodded slightly, not asking much, and brought them to the Huo residence.

Seeing the familiar surroundings of the Huo family and the warm hospitality of Mama and Papa Huo, Ye Leyao suddenly felt an overwhelming sense of nostalgia. His eyes stung, and he felt a pang of sadness.

Afraid that the two would notice his strange emotions, Ye Leyao tried hard to suppress them.

Huo Yan hadn’t yet arrived with his partner, so Qin Yao actually went to the study to discuss business with Huo Jing.

Ye Leyao was left in the living room, and Papa and Mama Huo entertained him warmly.

The two sat across from Ye Leyao, chatting and asking about his age and background.

They asked, and Ye Leyao answered.

But everything he said was based on the background he and Qin Yao had created the night before.

Papa and Mama Huo listened without suspicion and nodded repeatedly.

In the end, Mama Huo couldn’t help but say, “I don’t know why, but from the moment I first saw you, I felt an instant liking for you, so I couldn’t resist chatting a bit more. I hope you don’t mind?”

Ye Leyao felt his heart ache even more and replied with a smile, “Of course not.”

Ye Leyao didn’t feel the least bit uncomfortable or offended; on the contrary, he found the feeling oddly delightful.

He liked it very much.

As the three chatted, Huo Yan returned with Su Rui.

Seeing an unfamiliar face in the room, Huo Yan was briefly stunned, then smiled and asked his mother, “Who’s this kid? He looks a bit familiar.”

Mama Huo laughed immediately upon hearing this: “So even you, our second son, feel like he looks familiar?”

Papa Huo chimed in mysteriously, “Why don’t you take a guess?”

Huo Yan came closer, stood across from Ye Leyao, scrutinized him for a long moment, and then shook his head. “I really can’t remember. Mom, Dad, stop being mysterious and introduce him to me.”

So, Mama Huo affectionately took Ye Leyao’s hand and formally introduced him to Huo Yan.

After hearing Mama Huo’s introduction, Huo Yan frowned. “Well, that’s strange. I shouldn’t have met him before, but why does he look so familiar?”

Papa and Mama Huo both laughed.

Papa Huo said, “I haven’t met Xiao Yao either, but for some reason, I felt an instant bond as soon as I saw him.”

Mama Huo nodded. “Yes, I even kind of want to adopt him as my godson…”

The family happily chatted away on the side.

As for Su Rui, who had been brought home by Huo Yan, he was completely ignored.

Su Rui stood to the side, his face particularly sour.

But he couldn’t directly interrupt their conversation, so he could only cough lightly to remind Huo Yan of his presence.

However, Huo Yan was too engrossed in asking Ye Leyao about his work and completely missed Su Rui’s coughing.

Su Rui’s expression instantly darkened further.

No one else seemed to notice.

But as a system, Ye Leyao noticed.

For some reason, he suddenly wanted to laugh.

At that moment, Ye Leyao finally understood what Qin Yao had meant the day before—

So, this was what it felt like to watch someone else in an awkward position, happily playing the bystander.

Ye Leyao found this feeling delightful, thoroughly satisfying for the system, so he enthusiastically kept chatting.

Papa Huo, Mama Huo, and Huo Yan already liked Ye Leyao; seeing him so eagerly answering their questions only made them happier.

With this high spirits, they ignored Su Rui, who was coughing his throat sore, as if he wasn’t there.

Huo Yan even muttered under his breath, “Someone in our house has a sore throat? Mom, maybe you should give them a couple of days off.”

“Always coughing around here—what if it’s the flu and he passes it on to Ye Leyao?”

In that instant, Su Rui’s face turned black as coal.

As a system, seeing someone else embarrassed for the first time, Ye Leyao couldn’t hold back and burst out laughing.

Right then, Qin Yao and Huo Jing came downstairs, and when Qin Yao saw the smile on Ye Leyao’s face, his lips curved up slightly too.

Huo Jing, on the other hand, gave Su Rui a thoughtful glance.

It was only at this moment that Huo Yan suddenly came to his senses and hastily turned around. “Oh no, Xiao Rui…”

Su Rui had been standing there for nearly ten minutes, and it was only then that Huo Yan remembered him!

Su Rui felt he had lost all his dignity and was even more furious about Huo Yan’s earlier comment. But he couldn’t just turn around and leave, so he could only look at Huo Yan with teary, aggrieved eyes.

Huo Yan felt especially guilty, so he hurriedly stepped forward, took his hand, and apologized, “I’m sorry, Xiao Rui. It’s my fault… I was just happy to see Xiao Yao, so…”

Ye Leyao tried hard to bite his lip to keep his mouth from turning up into a smile.

How rude!

So very rude!

As a polite system, how could Ye Leyao laugh out loud right in front of someone?!

But stifling his laughter was really uncomfortable!

Seeing Qin Yao coming downstairs, Ye Leyao quickly ran over to him.

Qin Yao hadn’t expected Ye Leyao to run over to him, so he hurriedly reached out to catch him.

They embraced each other completely.

Ye Leyao buried his face in Qin Yao’s neck, his whole body shaking with laughter.

He hid his face tightly, his laughter deliberately muffled.

So except for Qin Yao, no one else knew that Ye Leyao was actually laughing.

To Huo parents and Huo Jing, it looked as if he were crying.

Huo Jing immediately furrowed his brow, “What happened?”

Papa and Mama Huo’s attention had already shifted to Su Rui, but they quickly looked over at him upon hearing this.

“What happened to Xiao Yao?” Mama Huo walked over anxiously.

Papa Huo followed closely. “Wasn’t he fine just now? What happened? Did something upset him?”

Qin Yao: “…”

No, he was actually happy.

But there was no way Qin Yao could expose Ye Leyao in front of everyone, so he could only wrap his arm around Ye Leyao’s waist and feign a worried expression, saying, “I don’t know. He suddenly just ran over…” Qin Yao’s voice grew urgent, “Yaoyao, what’s wrong? Who upset you?”

Huo Yan, who had been comforting Su Rui, quickly said, “No one, right? Wasn’t everything fine just now? Xiao Yao, what happened…”

Huo Yan wanted to come over, but Su Rui clung to his arm. “Brother Yan…”

For a moment, Huo Yan felt conflicted.

But Ye Leyao felt even more conflicted!

He was obviously laughing—why wasn’t Qin Yao helping him explain?

The next second, Ye Leyao felt Qin Yao gently squeeze his waist.

It tickled, and then Ye Leyao realized that Qin Yao was doing it on purpose!

Although he didn’t quite understand Qin Yao’s intent, Ye Leyao went along and stayed in Qin Yao’s embrace.

And then Ye Leyao heard Papa, Mama Huo, and Huo Jing become instantly alarmed. Huo Jing even suggested, “Is he feeling unwell? Maybe we should call the doctor?”

Qin Yao replied, “Alright.”

So, Papa and Mama Huo quickly called the family doctor over.

Huo Yan, seeing this, lost the mood to comfort Su Rui and simply patted his hand, saying, “Xiao Rui, I hope you understand.”

Su Rui: “???”

What exactly was he supposed to understand?

Wasn’t this his first time visiting the family?

What was with this whole family?

Not only did they ignore him, but who on earth was this Ye Leyao? Why did even Huo Yan care so much about him?

A strong sense of imbalance immediately arose in Su Rui’s heart.

Without thinking, he said, “Of course I understand. It’s just…he’s already an adult, so why is he still throwing a childish tantrum? Is he doing this because he doesn’t like me?”

As soon as he said that, Huo Yan’s brow furrowed.

The entire Huo family fell silent for a moment.

Qin Yao leaned close to Ye Leyao’s ear and asked softly, “Can you pretend to cry?”

Ye Leyao didn’t know how to, nor did he understand Qin Yao’s intention, but he was very cooperative.

Concerned that his “acting skills” might not be up to par, Ye Leyao quickly used some system points to exchange for an acting buff from the system shop. He immediately began sobbing dramatically in Qin Yao’s arms—

“Uwahh… no, President Qin… I’m not throwing a childish tantrum, and I don’t dislike him…uwahh, who…who is he? I don’t even know him… I…I’m just really unwell, uwahhh…”

The acting buff was so effective that even Ye Leyao himself was surprised; tears streamed down his cheeks, and his eyes turned bright red.

Mama Huo, who had already liked this obedient child at first sight, felt a surge of anger at Su Rui’s words, which were clearly meant to sow discord.

Xiao Yao didn’t even know Su Rui, yet Su Rui had the audacity to say something so shameless!

Seeing Ye Leyao crying like this, Mama Huo’s heart ached even more, and her own eyes grew red. “I understand, I understand, Xiao Yao, don’t cry…”

Papa Huo also caught the implication in Su Rui’s words, but since Su Rui was a guest, he couldn’t glare directly at him, so he shot an angry look at Huo Yan instead.

Huo Jing’s face turned cold as he asked sternly, “Who are you? And why are you in my house?”

Su Rui: “…”

Su Rui’s face turned red with anger.

Though Ye Leyao was crying, he was laughing internally.

Hahaha! It was just too funny! Huo Jing even asked who Su Rui was and why he was there, hahaha—

Ye Leyao’s body began to shake slightly from laughter, and tears poured out even more fiercely.

Initially, Huo Yan was concerned about Su Rui, but when he saw Ye Leyao crying so sorrowfully, even trembling, he looked at Su Rui with a hint of reproach.

However, since Su Rui was still his boyfriend, Huo Yan simply frowned, let go of Su Rui’s hand, and introduced him, “Dad, Mom, Big Brother, this is Su Rui, he’s the…”

Mentioning Su Rui’s name was a mistake—the entire Huo family’s faces changed instantly.

Papa Huo kept a stern face and said nothing.

Huo Jing looked away.

And Mama Huo didn’t even turn her head to glance at Su Rui.

Their reactions couldn’t have been clearer, as if the words “unwelcome” were written on their faces.

Su Rui couldn’t take it.

His eyes reddened with anger, but he knew he had to hold back. With a pitiful tone, he said to Huo Yan, “Since your family doesn’t have time today, I’ll just leave first.”

With that, Su Rui turned and started to leave.

Huo Yan’s brow furrowed; he suddenly felt that Su Rui was being very immature. But realizing it was his earlier negligence that had caused Su Rui to be ignored, he quickly grabbed his arm, explaining, “Xiao Rui, let me explain…”

At Qin Yao’s prompt, Ye Leyao cried even louder.

Huo Yan paused, then whispered, “Understand this—Xiao Yao is still a child.”

Su Rui ground his teeth in frustration.

A child who’s six feet tall?!

And clearly he looked like an adult too, didn’t he?!

At that moment, Mama Huo suddenly spoke up, “Wait, have Su Rui come over and sit.”

Huo Yan immediately said, “Xiao Rui, please don’t be mad; just do it for my sake…”

Su Rui bit his lip; how could he not be angry?

But he really couldn’t leave now either. If he truly offended the Huo family, he and Huo Yan would be over, which would mean no money, and what would happen to the child then?

He couldn’t let anything happen to his child, so he forced himself to speak in an even more aggrieved voice, “Alright, Brother Yan. For you, I can endure it…”

Su Rui stayed, and shortly after, the butler arrived with the doctor.

The butler explained as he came in, “Dr. Lin had some personal matters today, so only Mr. He came.”

Dr. He was the traditional Chinese medicine doctor who regularly treated Mama Huo.

Upon hearing this, Mama Huo immediately said, “Please trouble Dr. He to take a look at Xiao Yao first!”

If necessary, they could always take Ye Leyao to the hospital later.

Dr. He nodded and walked over to examine Ye Leyao.

By this time, the acting buff that Ye Leyao had stacked on himself was also about to wear off.

While taking Ye Leyao’s pulse, Dr. He asked, “Where do you feel unwell?”

Ye Leyao thought for a moment and made something up: “A headache.”

After a moment of checking, Dr. He said, “There doesn’t seem to be any major issue with your pulse…”

Ye Leyao pressed his lips together, letting another tear fall. “I don’t know, but it doesn’t hurt as much now…”

Qin Yao said, “As long as it’s not hurting, that’s good. I’ll take Yaoyao to the hospital for a thorough checkup later.”

Mama Huo immediately said, “We’ll come with you.” She glanced back at Su Rui on the sofa. “Oh, Dr. He, could you please check on this child as well?”

Dr. He nodded and walked over to Su Rui.

Su Rui was bewildered.

Why were they checking him too?

Before he could refuse, Huo Yan had already lifted his hand. “It would be good for Dr. He to take a look. You were just quite agitated, and I’ll feel more at ease if he checks on you.”

Su Rui was about to say it wasn’t necessary, but Dr. He had already taken his pulse.

Su Rui’s heart began to pound.

He was a man, but due to his unique physical condition, he’d been able to become pregnant.

It had taken a lot of effort at the hospital to confirm that he was actually pregnant.

But a traditional Chinese doctor—

Could he really find anything unusual just from taking his pulse?

Su Rui instantly felt a strong sense of imbalance in his heart.

Su Rui reassured himself not to worry, but he couldn’t help feeling nervous.

Moments later, Dr. He released his wrist and said, “No problem, no problem. But if you’re pregnant, try to stay in good spirits.”

Su Rui let out a sigh of relief.

Then he heard Dr. He continue, “The child is four months along; everything is perfectly fine; nothing to worry about.”

Su Rui’s expression froze.

In Huo Yan’s eyes, confusion was evident. “Four months? Isn’t it two months?”

Ye Leyao wanted to laugh again.

Qin Yao squeezed his hand, and Ye Leyao barely held back his laughter.

The Huo family’s gaze turned to Su Rui.

Dr. He said, “Two months? This pulse indicates a solid four-month pregnancy, very steady. While this is my first time encountering a pregnant male, pregnancy pulses are similar—I wouldn’t be wrong.”

Huo Yan was stunned, as if struck by lightning: “No, no way… I… Xiao Rui, you—”

Qin Yao struck at the perfect moment, “What’s wrong? The timing doesn’t add up?”

Not just a bit off—two whole months early!

Huo Yan broke down, turning to Su Rui with disbelief: “Xiao Rui, what’s going on? Didn’t you say…”

Su Rui panicked.

Damn it, where did this traditional Chinese doctor suddenly come from?

It was bad enough he was here, but why take his pulse?

The doctor just admitted he’d never diagnosed a pregnant male before, so how could he be so certain the pulse was accurate?

“He’s lying! It’s only two months… I didn’t lie, Brother Yan, the child is yours… two months…” Su Rui hurriedly explained.

Dr. He sat up straight, frowning and speaking seriously, “Sir, how can you question my professionalism? My family has practiced traditional Chinese medicine for generations; I’m the seventeenth generation. I hold a PhD in traditional Chinese medicine from the Capital Medical University and have practiced for over twenty years without a single misdiagnosis. If I say it’s four months, then it’s four months. I can’t be mistaken!”

Su Rui was so angry that his chest heaved violently. “What nonsense are you talking about! I was examined in the hospital, how could there be a mistake? Besides, I would never lie to Brother Yan…”

Dr. He became even angrier and began to explain to Su Rui, with a serious tone, why his child was four months old instead of two.

Throughout the exchange, the Huo family didn’t say a word.

Ye Leyao and Qin Yao were enjoying the spectacle from the sidelines.

As for Huo Yan, he stood there in a daze, looking severely impacted by the revelation.

For some reason, Ye Leyao suddenly recalled something he had read earlier. Leaning toward Qin Yao, he whispered, “President Qin, look at Huo Yan; he looks like he’s about to shatter.”

Qin Yao’s eyes were filled with amusement as he leaned closer to Ye Leyao and said, “Finding out he has become a fallback for someone else is indeed tough, so you can’t laugh out loud anymore.”

Ye Leyao nodded repeatedly. “Okay, I’ll just laugh in my heart!”

The farce ended with Su Rui defeated by Dr. He’s logical arguments, leaving the Huo family in anger. Huo Yan didn’t chase after him because he was crying heartbreakingly at that moment.

While choking on sobs, Huo Yan cried out, “It’s not mine… Hahaha, it’s not my child, hahaha…”

Mama Huo hought his crying was a bit embarrassing and turned her head away.

Papa Huolet out a heavy sigh. “What a pointless fuss!”

Huo Jing then said to Qin Yao and Ye Leyao, “Sorry for making you witness this.”

Ye Leyao quickly replied, “It’s fine, it’s fine! But doesn’t he really need some comfort?”

Seeing him cry and laugh at the same time, he looked quite troubled!

Mama Huo sighed again. “Don’t worry about him. Leyao, why don’t you stay and have dinner at our place tonight?”

Ye Leyao indeed missed Mama Huo’s cooking, so he nodded without hesitation.

Not long after that day, news of Huo Yan and Su Rui’s breakup spread.

Also, because of this incident, Ye Leyao, who was always eager to learn, suddenly became keen on gossiping.

Qin Yao noticed that Ye Leyao enjoyed this, so whenever there was gossip around, Ye Leyao and Qin Yao would be there.

To make Ye Leyao happy, Qin Yao even replaced all the problematic guests on the show “Let’s Go Traveling Together,” inviting a group of guests who had juicy stories but were good people to join the program.

Of course, Ye Leyao and Qin Yao were included in that group.

After one episode recording, Huo Yan, heartbroken from his emotional turmoil, expressed that he wanted to join in on the gossip, or rather, participate in the show to relax.

Qin Yao agreed without hesitation, so the gossip duo welcomed a new member.

What made Qin Yao slightly unhappy was that Ye Leyao and Huo Yan were getting along better and better.

Qin Yao expressed his jealousy to Ye Leyao more than once.

Yet each time, Ye Leyao would comfort Qin Yao, saying, “I don’t like Huo Yan; I just see him as… um…”

Ye Leyao trailed off.

What did he actually see Huo Yan and his family as?

Ye Leyao really hadn’t thought about that question.

Seeing Ye Leyao’s bewildered expression, Qin Yao’s jealousy began to dissipate.

In fact, Qin Yao had long recognized the position Huo family held in Ye Leyao’s heart. Even Huo family had repeatedly told Qin Yao that they hoped Ye Leyao could always stay with them.

Unfortunately, his little system was naturally slow in matters of emotion.

Fortunately, if his little system weren’t so slow, he might have been taken away by the entire Huo family long ago.

Rarely did Qin Yao feel a bit possessive, so he chose not to clarify this relationship for the little system. He decided to wait for Ye Leyao to gradually understand it himself.

Even if later Ye Leyao got angry with him, he would accept it.

Time passed in the blink of an eye.

Soon it was the end of August.

On that morning, after getting up, Qin Yao didn’t see Ye Leyao on the balcony. Instead, he found a note left by him that read: “President Qin, Mama Huo asked me to go to their house for dinner today. I’ll be back tonight.”

Qin Yao couldn’t help but smile wryly at the note.

Well, it seemed his little system had been taken away after all.

However, Qin Yao wasn’t worried, as he and Ye Leyao had already shared a mutual understanding.

He went to the company to handle some affairs, and by the time he finished, it was already afternoon.

Thinking that Ye Leyao hadn’t had his milk yet that day, he made a cup at the office, packed it in a thermos, and set off to pick him up from the Huo family.

What surprised Qin Yao, though, was that upon arriving at the Huo house, Mama Huo told him she hadn’t arranged for Ye Leyao to come over; rather, Ye Leyao had come by earlier in the morning to see Huo Yan and had gone to the film crew with him.

Qin Yao furrowed his brow slightly, thanked Mama Huo, and instructed the driver to head to the film set.

He didn’t ponder why Ye Leyao would lie to him; he simply found it interesting that his little system could actually tell a lie. This realization made him feel quite pleased.

However, that pleasant mood didn’t last long.

Upon arriving at Huo Yan’s film set, Qin Yao didn’t need the staff to show him the way. He confidently made his way to Huo Yan’s dressing room. Before he got close, he heard Huo Yan’s angry voice coming from inside—

“What do you mean if you want to save Qin Yao, you have to take his place and be hit by a car?! I don’t agree!”

Qin Yao froze in place.
