FI Ch1: Prologue
Tick-tock.
Water dripped from the eaves onto the ground. At the end of the dim, narrow alley stood a shop almost entirely obscured by a curtain.
A tall shadow was cast at the doorway.
“G-Great Master,” a high school student spoke up. His voice, still cracking due to puberty, sounded even hoarser as he deliberately lowered it. Wei Dong swallowed nervously, “Do I just need the other person’s birth date and time?”
“What are you worried about?”
The person behind the curtain was indistinguishable, but a cold, snake-like dampness seeped through the gaps in the curtain. “You’ve paid, so naturally, I will take care of things for you.”
Wei Dong breathed a sigh of relief.
He didn’t want to do this; he was forced into it! There was only one slot for direct admission to H University, and he hadn’t been able to surpass that Pei Jin in the three stage exams, so he had to think of another way.
Besides, Pei Jin was just a poor second-generation kid—what good would any resources do him?
Thinking this, Wei Dong quickly settled his mind.
Since it was his first time doing something like this, he still felt a bit anxious. “Great Master, there won’t be any problems, right? What if the other person also hired someone in this line of work? Wouldn’t that bring some kind of backlash…”
“Pfft.” The person behind the curtain seemed to mock his timidity, saying ominously, “No.” A confident smile appeared on the exposed lower half of his face.
“It’s been many years since Xun City has seen any powerful feng shui masters.”
Wei Dong completely relaxed and smiled. “That’s good to hear.”
—
A bright full moon hung overhead.
At the same moment, the clear moonlight streamed into a room in Xun City, illuminating the furnishings inside.
The wooden furniture exuded an ancient feel, with fine dust settled on the floor and surfaces. Not far away, on a wooden bed frame, lay a boy dressed in a traditional Chinese outer garment.
His face was as warm as jade, and his black hair gently fell over his forehead.
His long eyelashes fluttered slightly.
Lin Su opened his eyes from a long slumber.
