RBNR Ch66: I just don’t understand you!
[Brother Bao, Mr. Feng has already left. Only Grandpa Qin is here now. Are you still coming up?]
Xiao Xu sent a message.
Qin Bao had already arrived at the hospital and was sitting on a bench under a big tree. The shaded walkway was deep and quiet, and the air was damp and fresh after the early summer rain.
He had been sitting there for quite a while, feeling reluctant to go upstairs: [No, there are caregivers there. You should go home early too.]
Xiao Xu: [Alright, Brother Lu said he will pick you up at six tomorrow morning. We need to be at the airport by eight. Don’t forget.]
Qin Bao: [Got it.]
Turning off his phone screen, Qin Bao continued to sit there for a while.
The conversation he overheard accidentally revealed the truth. He felt he was really slow to catch on. How could Feng Chengyu step down just because he felt it was dangerous? It wasn’t the first time Feng Chengyu faced danger. There was a time when he carried a gun with him.
Feng Chengyu was proud and strong, reaching his position today through outstanding abilities and a strong will. The more he was threatened and bribed, the more he persisted and grew stronger. If it weren’t for Mr. Qin’s situation, he wouldn’t have made such a sudden decision, and he wouldn’t have stepped down from his position so quickly.
Director Feng said it was a good thing for Feng Chengyu to slow down because there are many things in life more important than dreams.
What could be more important than dreams for Feng Chengyu?
The answer was clear and hard to believe.
A marriage, a contract.
Even if he had feelings, was it really necessary to go this far for a promise?
It felt like a heavier weight pressed on Qin Bao’s heart. Instead of feeling the joy of uncovering the answer, he felt a deep, pervasive pain and a strong sense of helplessness.
His personal success and brilliance seemed insignificant.
Someone was silently supporting the sky above him.
When Feng Chengyu returned home, it was already late at night. Because of Mr. Qin, he visited the Feng family and talked a lot with two other members of the family.
Qin Bao, wearing a set of black pajamas, was sitting on the carpet in the living room, assembling a building block model.
It was a mecha model they had bought at an alumni event hosted by Jacob. The base had already been assembled by Qin Bao.
As usual, Feng Chengyu hung up his coat, washed his hands, and then sat behind Qin Bao, hugging his waist and resting his head on his shoulder. “Why did you bring this out?”
Qin Bao replied, “I just suddenly remembered it and thought I’d put it together.”
Feng Chengyu laughed, “I thought you were waiting for me.”
Qin Bao: “…”
Well, maybe.
Otherwise, why would he sit there alone?
Feng Chengyu released him and sat to the side. “I ran into your childhood friend Shan Yiming at the hospital today. For some reason, his assistant said he was your boyfriend.”
Qin Bao was a bit surprised. “Shan Yiming came?”
Shan Yiming didn’t even tell him he was coming?
“Yes,” Feng Chengyu said confidently. “Explain.”
Qin Bao paused his actions. “Explain what? I’ve never told anyone that Shan Yiming is my boyfriend, and we haven’t even met recently.”
He realized that this must have been what Xiao Xu meant by the motorcycle!
But why would that girl think Shan Yiming was his boyfriend?
Feng Chengyu wasn’t convinced by Qin Bao’s explanation. He didn’t speak or move, just watched him with a calm expression.
Qin Bao knew he was at fault. Apart from An Qingyan and Brother Lu, he had never introduced Feng Chengyu to anyone around him or acknowledged Feng Chengyu’s identity.
Although their contract clearly stated that Qin Bao had the right to keep their relationship private…who cared about the contract anymore?
What contract?
They had already done many things beyond the scope of the contract.
On a whim, Qin Bao put down the building blocks, grabbed Feng Chengyu’s arm, and kissed him on the cheek.
Then, in a tone even he didn’t realize was guilty, he said, “I’ll educate Xiao Xu properly tomorrow.”
Just as he was about to leave, Feng Chengyu grabbed the back of his head and kissed him on the lips.
“Mm…”
Qin Bao’s heart pounded violently, and he trembled, instinctively closing his eyes.
Both troubled by the recent upheavals, they hadn’t kissed like this in a long time. Even when they met, it was just a brief touch, more like a comfort, with no mood to go further.
But physically, it was impossible not to need it. Just sensing each other’s pheromones, just touching each other, their bodies heated up.
Qin Bao’s long eyelashes cast shadows on his face, his cheeks flushed, looking just like in the photo Shu Helan sent last time, except he wasn’t drunk this time.
The Omega’s mouth was soft, and as Feng Chengyu delved in, the pheromones mingled wetly. Qin Bao straightened up, kneeling between Feng Chengyu’s legs, taking the initiative, hugging Feng Chengyu’s neck and kissing back.
Qin Xiao Bao never wronged himself in this regard. When he wanted it, he never hid it.
His soft tongue responded to Feng Chengyu, and then he reached to unbutton Feng Chengyu’s shirt, exposing the Alpha’s broad chest and shoulders.
He wasn’t shy at all, touching wherever he wanted.
Having been abstinent for so long, Feng Chengyu’s eyes darkened. After letting Qin Bao indulge for a bit, he couldn’t hold back any longer and pulled him down onto the ground.
The assembled model base was knocked over, and pieces scattered everywhere.
“Wait!”
Qin Bao turned over, trying to save it.
But his black shirt was pushed up, exposing a strip of pale waist.
…
His vision blurred.
The model was beyond saving.
Qin Bao’s face flushed, his hair damp with sweat.
He curled up in shame, while Feng Chengyu hadn’t even taken off his shirt.
The more he thought about it, the more unfair it seemed. He tried to get up to kiss the Alpha’s Adam’s apple, but Feng Chengyu lifted him up, turned him over, and bit the soft, slightly protruding flesh on the back of his neck.
Qin Bao trembled all over, crying out in pain as the teeth ground against his skin: “…Be gentler.”
“I can’t.” Feng Chengyu’s hot breath hit his back. “Xiao Bao.”
The arm around his waist tightened, and the canines sunk fiercely into his skin.
“…Feng Chengyu!”
Qin Bao struggled, his fingers gripping the Alpha’s arm tightly.
Having not been bitten like this for a long time, Omega’s eyes quickly reddened from the pain, but the gland that had been permanently marked responded instinctively, secreting pheromones in response.
Soon, the milky scent with a hint of daffodil filled the air, trailing down his neck and leaving marks on his pale back.
The room was filled with the scent of pheromones.
The intense marking made Qin Bao’s scalp tingle, and for two to three minutes, his mind was hazy.
Feng Chengyu’s first move was slow.
When he was lifted again, Qin Bao, unlike before, didn’t curse but instinctively grabbed Feng Chengyu’s collar, allowing the Alpha to pry open his mouth, yielding softly, making small animal-like sounds.
This triggered the S-class Alpha’s violent instincts, and the second time started without any need for a break.
It felt like they were back on the spaceship, the secret inner structure easily opened, but this time it wasn’t during Qin Bao’s heat.
…
*
No one had ever told Qin Bao that a permanent mark would lead to such an experience.
It was almost their best since getting married.
Maybe their high compatibility was rare, with textbooks only mentioning it theoretically. Or maybe Qin Bao’s full cooperation during a conscious state allowed for deeper communication, satisfying both of them thoroughly.
“Why are you so obedient today?”
Feng Chengyu held him on his lap, caressing his still-trembling back.
Qin Bao felt like an accessory, letting his limbs dangle as he clung to Feng Chengyu: “Mr. Feng, are you a masochist? You’re not used to me not cursing at you?”
Feng Chengyu laughed. Someone still had handprints on their butt and red knees but dared to ask if he was a masochist.
“Today, I was in a good mood to play with you. Next time, begging won’t help.”
Qin Bao bit his shoulder, leaving a wet bite mark in retaliation.
“Jerk, you owe me a model.”
It was clear the model had taken hours to build.
“I apologize.” Feng Chengyu said sincerely. “I promise to rebuild it for you tomorrow.”
Having handled the last batch of tasks, Feng Chengyu now had all the time in the world.
Qin Bao felt completely mixed emotions.
A well-off senator, now unemployed, of course, he could rebuild the model by tomorrow.
He hugged Feng Chengyu tighter.
Feeling his emotions, Feng Chengyu asked softly: “You were so out of character today, doing so many things, cooperating with that position. Are you thanking me?”
Qin Bao sat up, his eyes still moist but bright: “What do you mean? Was I bad before? I just didn’t feel like resisting today—”
“Xiao Bao.” Feng Chengyu interrupted him, saying directly, “I know you came to the hospital today.”
Caught off guard, Qin Bao froze: “Yes, but I just…”
Feng Chengyu’s gaze was gentle, his fingers avoiding the bitten spot on his neck, caressing the nearby skin: “I felt your pheromones, but when I went out, you were already gone.”
Qin Bao had forgotten about that.
He could sense Feng Chengyu, so naturally, Feng Chengyu could sense him too.
He always forgot that their mark affected both of them.
Feng Chengyu asked: “Did you overhear my conversation with Grandpa?”
Qin Bao’s eyes reddened quickly, unable to say a word.
He was never a delicate person, nor did he want to appear weak, but at this moment, he couldn’t control his emotions.
“I didn’t want to hide it from you. We’re married, and I’m part of the family. If there was a chance to turn things around, I wouldn’t ignore it.” Feng Chengyu said, “Besides, the situation wasn’t in my favor. Stepping down gives me a break and helps Dad through the crisis. It’s a win-win for me, no matter how you look at it.”
Qin Bao’s throat tightened: “…”
Again with the “win-win.”
In his view, Feng Chengyu was far from winning.
Feng Chengyu added: “You were already very upset. Xiao Bao, I wanted to make you happy and not see you more upset.”
Qin Bao couldn’t speak, only moving closer to hug him tightly again.
Feeling the embrace, Feng Chengyu felt a weight lift off his shoulders. He hugged his Omega back, gently closing his eyes.
Both sticky all over, Feng Chengyu prepared the bath, placing Qin Bao in the tub before stepping in himself.
The water overflowed with a splash, and Qin Bao found his voice, speaking quickly and softly: “…Thank you.”
Seeing his awkwardness, Feng Chengyu pretended not to hear: “What did baobao say? Say it again.”
Those black eyes were full of teasing, and the term “baobao” was used mischievously.
Qin Bao knew exactly what was going on, but who would back down at this point?
If he could, he wanted to show Feng Chengyu his heart, showing his guilt, his gratitude, and his feelings.
Qin Bao blushed, but raised his voice, “I said thank you! Who asked you to sacrifice so much? Are you stupid?”
Feng Chengyu loved to watch him and tease him.
He pulled Qin Bao over, kissed his lips, and pinched his chin, deliberately asking, “What do you think?”
There it was again, “What do you think?”
Love was already so evident, but the Alpha just wouldn’t say it outright.
He wanted Qin Bao to offer it up on his own, right?
Qin Bao had been trying so hard!
But those three words coming from his mouth felt too light now.
Unable to say them, Qin Bao could only break free from his hand and turn his face away: “I don’t understand you!”
Feng Chengyu, however, spread his legs apart, pressed down, and kissed his earlobe ambiguously, “If you don’t understand… then let’s understand more.”
Several times, Qin Bao almost jumped up, “No more!”
