RBNR Ch30: Qin Bao read the message but didn’t reply

The two finalized the content of the contract in just one hour.

At this point, it was not Qin Bao’s style to be coy. After confirming the details multiple times, he decided to finish it quickly.

Feng Chengyu asked Lin Zi to print out the contract, and even Lin Zi was surprised: “So fast?”

A few minutes later, the printed contract and the seal were brought to the room.

Qin Bao complained: “An electronic signature would have sufficed. Why make it so complicated?”

Feng Chengyu: “The legal effect is the same, but a paper document in a safe feels more secure to me than an electronic version. If you find it troublesome to store it, I can give you the password.”

The contract was confidential and any leakage would incur responsibility.

Qin Bao immediately refused: “No need. I’m too lazy to remember.”

They signed and stamped the contract, and as Feng Chengyu sealed the contract and handed it to Lin Zi, Qin Bao felt a twinge of regret, but more so a sense of panic he hadn’t felt before signing.

It was as if… something was about to change completely.

To cover up his anxiety, Qin Bao proactively asked Feng Chengyu: “What’s next?”

Seeing him so cooperative, Feng Chengyu asked: “Do you have time tomorrow?”

Although he wasn’t working, school had already resumed.

Qin Bao replied: “I have class tomorrow, but I’ll be free after school in the afternoon. Why?”

“Let’s go choose wedding rings tomorrow.” Feng Chengyu said, “Which brand do you like? I’ll make an appointment in advance.”

Qin Bao was a bit uneasy: “We need to buy rings too? That’s not necessary. Even if we buy them, I won’t wear them.”

“Hmm, I know. You don’t have to wear them regularly,” Feng Chengyu said. “But for the registration, we need a photo with the rings and a bouquet. I’ll prepare them so we can register as soon as possible. If you don’t want it to be public, then we also need to make an appointment for the registration.”

Just hearing this, Qin Bao found it troublesome: “Then just buy a pair at random. I’ll reimburse you.”

“Alright.” Feng Chengyu didn’t mind helping, “What ring size do you wear?”

Qin Bao: “……”

He didn’t know his ring size. Although he had worn many rings at work, the ones for various events were either sponsored or brand accessories, not custom-made. If he lost them due to incorrect size, he would have to pay for it.

Feng Chengyu extended his hand: “Let me see your hand.”

How would you know the size just by looking?

Qin Bao was quite skeptical, but he really didn’t want to choose rings with Feng Chengyu, so he extended his hand.

Feng Chengyu lowered his eyes, his aloof face coming close, and gently pinched the base of Qin Bao’s ring finger. He touched it for a moment and then released it.

“Smaller than mine, should be size sixteen. I’ll go buy it.”

Feng Chengyu’s fingertips were dry and his touch was light. Qin Bao felt a flush from his finger to his cheek because he remembered how their hands had interlocked many times that night, feeling each other’s warmth and sweat intimately.

He quickly pulled his hand back and said nonchalantly: “Hmm… thanks.”

They agreed that Feng Chengyu would handle the appointment for registration, and Qin Bao could raise any issues during this period.

Finally, Feng Chengyu said: “I’ll add you on Dingxun.”

Qin Bao, already at the door, suddenly turned his head, gritting his teeth: “I don’t have Dingxun.”

Feng Chengyu wasn’t upset and smiled slightly: “Can you register for one?”

Qin Bao opened the door and left, throwing over his shoulder: “We’ll see.”

Feng Chengyu didn’t stay long either. He followed Qin Bao downstairs. Qin Bao waited by the roadside for a car, and Lin Zi’s car arrived not far away.

Feng Chengyu, being considerate, checked the time and said to Qin Bao: “I’ll give you a ride home.”

The distance between them was not far, but Qin Bao, upon hearing this, quickly took several steps to the side, put on a mask, and pulled up his hood to cover himself completely.

They were now about four to five meters apart, like strangers.

Qin Bao quietly reminded: “Don’t talk to me in public.”

Suddenly feeling embarrassed, Feng Chengyu: “……”

They parted ways. Shortly after, Qin Bao received a Dingxun request from Feng Chengyu.

Feng Chengyu’s profile picture was a side profile of a person by the sea, with a gray-blue tone, and the person was too blurred to be clearly seen. Qin Bao had seen this photo in Feng Chengyu’s family album; it was Feng Chengyu himself.

So narcissistic.

Qin Bao would never use his own photo as a profile picture.

Feng Chengyu’s Dingxun name was simple, just an “F,” and the verification message was also simple, only three words: Feng Chengyu.

Qin Bao, irritated, clicked to accept.

The next evening, Feng Chengyu sent the first Dingxun message: [Thursday at 9 a.m., see you at the registration office.]

Qin Bao read the message but didn’t reply.

On the day of registration, it was snowing lightly. The Spring Festival was over, but the festive decorations on the street had not yet been taken down, giving a somewhat desolate feeling. When Qin Bao arrived at the registration office by taxi, Feng Chengyu had already been standing there for over ten minutes, with snowflakes on his hair and shoulders.

Damn it…

Has he gotten a haircut? The new hairstyle looks a bit good.

It shouldn’t be for today, right? It’s not a serious wedding; why go to such lengths?

“You don’t have to wait outside for me,” Qin Bao said as he walked past him, deliberately not looking at him. “We should go our separate ways from now on. Don’t forget.”

Feng Chengyu reached out and hooked his collar, just like the last time at the club, casually pulling him back.

Qin Bao was already unhappy with this gesture and immediately struggled: “What are you doing?”

Feng Chengyu’s expression was cold this time: “What are you running for? We need to go fill out the application form and do a pre-marital health check.”

Qin Bao ground his teeth: “Why didn’t you say so earlier!”

Feng Chengyu: “That’s why I’ve been waiting here for you.”

The two had no choice but to go in together.

They first went to get the pre-marital health check forms, then went separately for the tests, and finally went to the fertility department to check their compatibility.

When they heard that they needed to draw glandular fluid, Qin Bao showed some reluctance: “Can we skip this? It’s unnecessary. I don’t care about the compatibility.”

The doctor smiled and said: “Yes, I understand you don’t care about it because you’re newlyweds, but the Alliance’s AO compatibility test still needs to be taken seriously. No matter how much you love him, you still need to complete the health check process.”

Feng Chengyu seemed to be smiling.

Qin Bao’s face turned red: “… What love? Who loves him? I didn’t mean it like that.”

The procedures still had to be followed. According to official data, the world AO gender average compatibility is 65%, and it cannot be lower than 43%. Otherwise, an Alpha cannot complete a thorough marking of an Omega. Due to natural physiological constraints, an Alpha who cannot complete a thorough marking with an Omega will always yearn for the bond, leading to instability.

Therefore, if the compatibility is below 43% during the marriage check, both parties need to sign an additional document.

The nurse was a bit nervous when drawing Feng Chengyu’s glandular fluid.

An S-level Alpha so young yet already a renowned figure made the nurse quite anxious.

The Alpha’s gland is located near the carotid artery, with pheromones spreading through the body with the blood flow. Unlike Omega, it cannot be hidden with glandular stickers and is therefore more fragile.

Feng Chengyu turned his head, exposing the skin on the side of his neck, and said gently: “You can draw it directly. It’s fine.”

The specialized fine needle pierced the skin and reached the gland, causing intense pain. Feng Chengyu’s brow furrowed deeply, his temple bulging with veins, and sweat appeared on his forehead.

Qin Bao’s face turned pale as he watched, and when it was his turn, he almost wanted to run away: “I’ll skip it. Just use the minimum compatibility for the report. I’ll sign it.”

He tried to walk out.

“Come back.” Feng Chengyu was tidying his clothes. “What are you afraid of?”

Qin Bao stopped in his tracks and retorted: “Who’s afraid?”

Feng Chengyu walked over and blocked his way like a wall.

Qin Bao had his hands in his coat pockets. Feng Chengyu unceremoniously put his hands into Qin Bao’s pockets, and Qin Bao glared angrily but didn’t dare to be too fierce for fear of drawing attention: “What are you doing?”

Feng Chengyu didn’t answer, just prying open Qin Bao’s clenched fist, and sure enough, he felt the cold sweat in his palm.

He lowered his head and, in a volume that only Qin Bao could hear, said: “Are you afraid of this needle?”

Caught.

So close.

Qin Bao turned his head awkwardly and answered softly: “… Well, not really afraid.”

“If you’re afraid, lean on me.” Feng Chengyu pressed his hand on the back of Qin Bao’s neck, “Don’t look, and you won’t be afraid.”

With no escape, Qin Bao was pressed down, his head resting on Feng Chengyu’s shoulder.

The hand in the coat pocket was still held by Feng Chengyu, his fingers interlacing with Qin Bao’s to hold him tightly.

Struggling would look worse, so Qin Bao didn’t resist, which was already a significant concession.

He was rarely vulnerable, and he was very uncomfortable, his whole body tense, urging: “Just get it over with… Can you be quick?”

The two seemed to be embracing intimately. Qin Bao’s collar was pulled down a bit, exposing his white neck. With his head down, the bone just below the Omega’s gland was slightly protruding, appearing very fragile.

The nurse disinfected the area, and as soon as the needle pierced, Qin Bao clenched his teeth, his body rigid as a board.

Feng Chengyu’s fingers gently pressed on his back of his head: “Relax, Baobao.”

As soon as he spoke, Qin Bao’s neck visibly reddened, spreading to his cheeks, and he squeezed out: “… What are you calling me!”

Damn it.

Qin Bao was furious.

He might as well call me Xiao Bao!

Not only Qin Bao but even the nurse’s face turned red: “Mr. Feng, you and your partner really have a good relationship. Some people are really afraid of needles.”

Feng Chengyu’s chest was vibrating.

Qin Bao warned fiercely: “Don’t laugh.”

After the glandular fluid was drawn, Qin Bao’s face was no longer pale but rather half dark. For the twenty minutes waiting for the results, he didn’t speak a word to Feng Chengyu.

When they got the report, the result clearly stated a “compatibility of 78%,” which made the medical staff excited.

Qin Bao was surprised. He knew his compatibility with Feng Chengyu would not be low, but he never expected it to be so high—13% above the average compatibility, which was a level of a perfect match. No wonder they were so sensitive to each other.

Feng Chengyu also saw the report. Qin Bao didn’t wait for him and walked out first, with the skin on the back of his neck still red, even redder than before.

Back at the registration office, they completed the remaining procedures and prepared for the oath-taking and photo session, which included a small ceremony.

Lin Zi brought the bouquet, and Feng Chengyu took out the ring box from his pocket.

The rings were very beautiful, with a three-band design, each band set with diamonds, and surprisingly matched well with the coolly dressed Qin Bao.

Qin Bao glanced at the bouquet; this time it was just ordinary white roses, not the bulb flowers.

He wasn’t concerned, but couldn’t quite describe how he felt inside.

Meanwhile, Feng Chengyu had already taken out the slightly smaller ring.

Without waiting for him to say anything, Qin Bao reached out, took the ring, and put it directly on his own ring finger: “I’ll do it myself.”

The ring felt icy.

On his finger, it made his heart beat a little faster.

“Fine,” Feng Chengyu had no objections and naturally asked while picking up the other ring, “Can you help me put it on?”

“Troublesome.” Qin Bao just wanted to finish quickly, roughly taking the ring, “Do you have no hands?”

Despite his complaints, his actions were still gentle.

The ring was properly placed on Feng Chengyu’s finger.

“Click,” “Click.”

The photographer was quick to seize the moment, pressing the shutter in quick succession to capture the scene.

Qin Bao felt like he had been tricked again.

With a heavy steel seal pressed down, two bright red certificates were handed to them.

When it was over, Feng Chengyu ran into an acquaintance. In the short time they spoke, Qin Bao disappeared. Feng Chengyu initially thought Qin Bao had stormed off in anger but eventually found him at the door.

The snow was falling heavier, swirling down like goose feathers.

Feng Chengyu asked, “Where’s your coat?”

Qin Bao was standing at the door, only wearing a sweatshirt. He pointed with his chin to a short distance away, and then, as if regretting his disclosure, replied with a blank expression, “None of your business.”

In the snow, there was a newlywed couple, both dressed lightly. One of them was wrapped in Qin Bao’s coat, her pregnant belly showing signs of seven or eight months along. She had a happy smile on her face and wore a pure white veil.

Qin Bao looked at them for a while, not knowing what he was thinking, then suddenly turned and reached out: “Give it to me.”

The ring on his hand had already been removed.

Feng Chengyu was about to hand over the coat but was momentarily distracted: “What?”

“My marriage certificate.” Qin Bao looked up at him with a frown, “What else could it be?”

The bright red booklet was in Qin Bao’s hand, still warm.

“Feng Chengyu, start counting the days from today. Don’t forget,” Qin Bao turned and made a dismissive gesture without looking back, “I’m leaving.”
