“So, this is why you called me here in such a panic, just for this?”

Lin Xi sat on the bench, looking displeased at the figure in front of him. He held back for a moment, but ultimately couldn’t help adding, “I know you harbor some kind of secret crush on me, but if you really wanted to sculpt a human form for yourself, it’s best not to use my photo as a template, thanks.”

Standing before Lin Xi was Calamity, who had now taken on an almost entirely human form.

However, no matter which way you looked at it, this face bore a striking resemblance to his own past appearance.

Perhaps because they had coexisted for a time, this King of Pollutants’ aesthetic tastes had been more or less influenced by humanity. It was just that the specific direction of these aesthetic preferences inexplicably made Lin Xi feel a bit annoyed.

Back in the early days when it sculpted his current body, why didn’t it think to reference this appearance? Now that they were separated, it had directly applied it to itself.

Calamity, however, completely missed Lin Xi’s displeasure and instead happily continued to show off its new body. “What’s wrong? Is there something wrong with my body? Look at these delicate features—it commands absolute attention wherever I go. You have no idea how many people have hit on me, and they even frequently ask if I’m your younger brother.”

“I can beat you back into being a ‘little brother’ right now.”

Lin Xi raised an eyebrow and spoke coldly, successfully shutting up the tactless pollutant. He rubbed his temples, feeling a rare headache coming on. “If you insist on pretending to be a blood relative of mine, I advise you not to parade that face around Yan Xingzhou.”

Calamity asked, “Why?”

Lin Xi glanced at it: “He’d pull out a gun and blow your brains out on the spot.”

Calamity: “…”

It opportunely changed the subject: “Let’s put that aside and talk business.”

Lin Xi scoffed. “If your ‘business’ means asking me to guide you on how to deal with those old foxes at the Ability Management Bureau, I’d advise you to follow your heart and teach yourself. I’ve never been good at bureaucratic socializing, let alone teaching it to a pollutant like you who lacks human concepts of right and wrong.”

“Teach what? I didn’t expect to learn anyway.”

Calamity began to complain with a speechless expression. “You have no idea. Ever since I made them all move into my rift, just keeping these pollutants from fighting over territory every day is annoying enough. But then the human side’s International Ability Management Bureau—that’s what it’s called, right?—that guy named Primo keeps pushing his luck with demands day after day. Telling me not to let the pollutants out to cause trouble unless necessary, telling us to recognize our ‘reasonable range of activity’—it’s laughable!”

Lin Xi clapped his hands. “I actually think you have too much free time. You must be scrolling on your tablet a lot; you’re using internet buzzwords pretty fluently.”

“…” Calamity gritted its teeth. “Lin Xi, you can’t be like this! We were in the same boat once, you can’t just dump this mess on me and wash your hands of it! Believe it or not, I’ll lead those pollutants to swallow your planet whole!”

“Oh, that’s a good line. At least it has a certain level of threat. If you’re unhappy with Primo, you can always use that as leverage to negotiate with him.”

As Lin Xi spoke, he checked the time and slowly stood up from his seat. “Primo actually called me quite a few times over the past few days, also wanting me to have a good talk with you. Now that we’ve ‘talked,’ I think this is the best solution: the two of you, one representing humans and the other representing pollutants, should just get together and fight it out. Whoever wins calls the shots. Perfect.”

Calamity’s mouth twitched slightly. “Isn’t that a bit childish?”

“What else?” Lin Xi sneered at him. “The two of you, entities holding the power of life and death over two different species, refuse to solve your own problems and instead act like kindergarteners running to the teacher to tattle. You only know how to come to me to complain—isn’t that childish? Strictly speaking, I am neither a human nor a pollutant right now. If your ideologies clash and you despise each other enough to engage in catfights, fine, but constantly bothering me, an outsider… is that appropriate?”

The killing intent hidden beneath that icy gaze finally made Calamity realize that the person in front of it was genuinely quite unhappy.

Based on its understanding of Lin Xi, it immediately softened its tone. “…It’s just that I really can’t stand the bureaucratic tone from the International Ability Bureau anymore.”

“If you can’t stand it, endure it.” Lin Xi had already picked up his coat from the hanger. “If you interrupt my honeymoon plans again for trivial matters like this, you won’t need to worry about balancing the survival of the two species anymore. Neither side will have a good time.”

Calamity had just spent seven days at the International Ability Bureau, arguing with Primo for seven whole days. It had hurriedly sought out Lin Xi to vent its frustrations, but upon hearing this, it completely froze. “What honeymoon? Did you get married?”

Lin Xi gave it a strange look. “Who made the rule that you can’t go on a honeymoon without getting married?”

Calamity: “…”

This utterly unapologetic and confidently unreasonable personality really hadn’t changed a bit.

Calamity’s question actually reminded Lin Xi. He dug into his pockets for quite a while, found a piece of wedding candy in a corner, and handed it to Calamity. “You can have a piece of wedding candy in advance, though. Be a good ‘little brother,’ and next time you argue with Primo, you can give this to him. Maybe it’ll make his venomous tongue a bit sweeter.”

Calamity: “…Thanks a lot.”

“You’re welcome.”

Lin Xi waved his hand noncommittally. “Then I’ll be off to continue my honeymoon. My darling is waiting for me, and I can’t let him wait too long.”

Calamity: “…”

Gag. How did they escalate to calling each other ‘darling’ after just a few days apart? It felt like those two were even more disgustingly sappy than back when they were still in a symbiotic state.

Lin Xi ignored Calamity’s look of disgust. Thinking of Yan Xingzhou, his mood clearly improved significantly. He happily waved goodbye. “Remember to work hard. I’m leaving.”

Calamity’s ultimate expression of pure devastation fully proved that even a pollutant would have a breakdown when tainted by the toxic vibe of a corporate wage slave. But this was clearly no longer something Lin Xi needed to concern himself with.

This time, he had asked Gu Beiqiu for a spatial transit permit in advance. As soon as he stepped out, he was met by a spatial-type ability user who teleported him right back.

As his darkened vision cleared, Lin Xi immediately spotted the figure standing not far away. A smile touched his eyes and brows, and he walked over with a light, bouncy step.

Yan Xingzhou had already opened the car door for him. After they both got in, they drove straight away from the spatial station.

The vehicle slowly entered the city, and gradually, the surrounding environment began to bustle with noise.

In a daze, it felt as if the crises of the past had never even occurred.

Before they knew it, a year had passed since the global rollout of the Calamity-Extinguishing Serum. After completing mandatory vaccinations for everyone, humanity successfully achieved the universal awakening initiative.

Now, almost all the pollutants had gathered in the Special-Grade Contamination Zone in Country A. Although this meant Country A had lost a piece of its territory, it at least compressed the danger to the absolute minimum. A basic equilibrium had been found for coexistence between humans and pollutants.

Currently, although stray rifts would occasionally appear in various countries, and the global contamination radiation was inevitably continuing to rise, at least against the backdrop of universal awakening, the once-terrifying “Alienation Mutation” disease had become a thing of the past. Under the efforts of the ability bureaus in various countries, human society had returned to its former peace.

Sitting by the car window, Lin Xi’s gaze fell on the passing vehicles. He suddenly remembered something and turned to look at Yan Xingzhou. “How about we don’t go to the airport just yet?”

“Not going to the airport?” Yan Xingzhou asked. “Then where do you want to go?”

As long as he was with Lin Xi, he was clearly very easygoing about their exact honeymoon destination.

Lin Xi replied, “I want the driver to take a left turn at the next intersection.”

Left turn at the next intersection.

Yan Xingzhou glanced at their current location, and in just a moment, he understood what Lin Xi meant. “Are you going to…”

“There’s really no need to hold a wedding. After all, too many people would come to join the fun, which would just give me a huge headache.”

Lin Xi blinked with a smile. “But Calamity did say one thing right today. If we’re going on a honeymoon, it seems like having an official status first would give it a much better feel.”

He looked steadily at Yan Xingzhou and asked, “Yan Xingzhou, are you willing to lock in an official, legal status with my current identity?”

Answering him was a determined voice without the slightest hesitation: “Of course. I’m profoundly honored.”

The two figures in the back seat embraced, sharing a deep kiss that felt like a vow.

Amidst the tender and intimate atmosphere, the driver tactfully chose to turn left at the next intersection, eventually pulling up silently to the side of the road.

Right across the street, the open doors of the Civil Affairs Bureau seemed to be waiting for the arrival of the next pair of lovers.

One hour later.

The data files of the United Administration and the International Ability Management Bureau was updated synchronously.

Originally just doing a routine confirmation, two figures sitting in completely different offices almost simultaneously jumped up from their chairs.

Gu Beiqiu: “…”

Primo: “???”

What is going on?

These two… they just went and got legally married on a whim without saying a word!??
