Chapter 8: Brother

A bed this small, it should be very cramped for two zergs to sleep on.

Yet Mu Si didn’t feel crowded at all. Not only could he lie down comfortably, but there was even some space left on the side against the wall.

There was no way his bed just magically widened, right?

Mu Si was greatly puzzled. He slipped out of the covers, looked past the female zerg, and almost burst out laughing.

The female zerg was sleeping on the outer side, with only a small part of his arm still on the bed, and the rest of his body completely suspended in the air.

“Sleeping with such a difficult move, aren’t you tired?

“If you like hovering, you should’ve said so. Next time I give you pheromones, I’ll hold you up and let you float over me as much as you want.”

Mu Si pulled the female zerg inward, pressing on his shoulder, forcing him to lie flat.

Ax complied with the Prince Consort’s strength and lay down, his eyelashes merely trembling slightly upon hearing the Prince Consort’s latter words.

Looks quite obedient, Mu Si thought.

The kind that wouldn’t resist no matter how much he was bullied.

But Mu Si knew how dangerous this female zerg was.

This was just superficial obedience.

When he needed something from him, he was both proactive and enthusiastic.

When he no longer needed him, he could heartlessly abandon him.

It was always like this.

Mu Si picked up Ax’s right hand and examined it carefully.

It was this hand that had pierced into his chest and grasped his heart, in a literal sense.

At that time, Ax hadn’t even undergone zerg transformation, nor had he activated his zerg pattern energy.

Indeed, tearing apart a male zerg’s body was no harder than tearing a piece of paper for an S-class female zerg.

There was no need for zerg transformation at all.

If not for the fully armed guard squad surrounding them, Ax wouldn’t even have spread his wings.

A dangerous female zerg.

Mu Si took out a silver-white handcuff from his spatial bracelet and clicked it onto Ax’s wrist.

The other end was connected to the headboard.

The female zerg, suppressed by the inhibitor, couldn’t break free from the handcuff.

This way, Ax would have to sleep with his hand half-raised all night, which surely wouldn’t be comfortable.

Mu Si was satisfied.

He turned and slipped back into the covers, using his own body to press down on the female zerg’s other arm, and fell into a peaceful sleep.

Ax maintained his flat posture, not moving an inch.

Even when the Prince Consort’s large body pressed against him, using him as a bed.

He only moved his eyes slightly after sensing the Prince Consort’s breathing gradually steady and enter deep sleep, looking at the male zerg whose face was pressed against his chest, his gaze complex.

The Prince Consort clearly knew he was dangerous and maintained vigilance and caution towards him.

But his way of being cautious was merely to handcuff one of his hands?

Just like that, he could let down his guard and sleep peacefully beside him.

Ax didn’t know whether to call the Prince Consort naive or overconfident.

During the night.

Mu Si’s breathing suddenly became rapid, his brow furrowed, and his body, pressed against Ax, stirred restlessly.

Ax opened his eyes and saw the male zerg seemingly trapped in a nightmare. A hint of worry appeared in his eyes, unsure whether to wake him.

The Prince Consort’s breathing grew increasingly rapid, as if facing immense fear.

Ax no longer hesitated.

He pulled at his restrained hand, and his palm landed on the male zerg’s back, tentatively patting it.

The male zerg’s body stiffened for a moment, then gradually relaxed.

The sleeping male zerg unconsciously turned his head, burying his face deep into Ax’s chest, taking a deep breath, and his breathing gradually softened.

“…Brother.”

The male zerg’s lips moved slightly, mumbling indistinctly.

Ax was startled.

Then, a puzzled expression appeared on his face.

The Prince Consort was His Majesty the Zerg Emperor’s eldest son; he had no elder brothers.

Who was he calling?

What kind of zerg could make the Prince Consort care so much?

Even in his dreams, he remembered him.

Ax pursed his lips lightly, his eyes filled with complex thoughts that even he couldn’t untangle.

He dreamt again of his past in the Dark Star Domain.

The Dark Star Domain belonged to no one’s jurisdiction. It was a chaotic place, gathering hundreds of members from different races.

Most of them were criminals, space pirates, interstellar wanderers… and their descendants.

Darkness prevailed here, and slaughter was rampant.

At that time, he was still a pre-adult female zerg.

But he was already close to adulthood and had successfully broken through to A-class, so he naturally became a hunter.

His codename was X.

His prey were mostly ferocious beasts with source crystals, or certain alien races.

Sometimes there were Zergs too.

X didn’t like to attack his own kind.

It was just that he was too good at concealing his aura, and many of his kind would mistake him for a C-class or lower-ranked female zerg, then take him as their prey.

After dealing with a group of his kind who ambushed him, X squatted by the river to wash his hands.

Under the moonlight, a glowing object caught his attention.

X stood up and walked over, seeing a small Zerg larva unconscious by the water.

The glowing object was a bracelet on the small larva’s wrist.

Red numbers flashed on it, indicating low energy.

X watched from a distance for a while, then turned and walked away.

The Dark Star Domain was full of dangers; one had to remain vigilant at all times, even when facing a larva.

There were many hunters who used larvae as bait.

Although the little larva’s clothes were torn, their material still indicated they were extraordinary.

Definitely not clothing that ordinary larvae in the Dark Star Domain could wear.

Approaching such an zerg would never be good for him.

Even if this larva genuinely needed help, he had to consider whether he had the ability to rescue him.

He could survive alone in the Dark Star Domain, but if a fragile larva was added, the situation would be completely different.

X found many reasons to convince himself not to be blindly kind.

As the first bright moon was about to set, Ax, who had stood in the shadows for a long time, stepped forward, picked up the small larva whose lips were white from the cold, and brought him back to his dwelling.

It wasn’t until he entered the underground safe house, turned on the lights, and cleaned the little larva’s wounds, that X realized this was a fair-skinned, tender male Zerg cub.

In the chaotic Dark Star Domain, male zergs were even rarer.

Adopting a male Zerg cub meant endless trouble.

Perhaps, I should send him back.

X thought so.

However, when the little male Zerg cub opened his eyes and looked over with those watery big eyes.

What X blurted out became: “You can call me female father.”

Of course, the little male Zerg didn’t call him female father.

Even months later, when X lowered his expectations and asked the little male Zerg to call him “brother,” the little male Zerg stubbornly refused to speak.

The underground room in the Prince Consort’s mansion received no sunlight. Only the star-filled ceiling light changed with the passage of time.

At night, it was a brilliant starry river, but during the day, there was no daylight, only two alternating bright moons.

Ax adapted quickly to this setup.

The Dark Star Domain had very short daylight hours, and when the sun was not visible, two moons would appear alternately.

Insects living there were more accustomed to considering the time when the moon was visible as daytime, and moonless times as night.

Ax thought, perhaps this light was inspired by the Dark Star Domain.

He wondered if the designer had ever been to the Dark Star Domain.

When one moon rose, Ax opened his eyes.

Seeing the bright moon overhead, Ax was still a little dazed.

For a moment, he couldn’t tell what night this was.

The warm breath on his chest brought him back to reality.

Ax lowered his gaze.

The Prince Consort lay quietly on him, his long hair spread out, looking docile and gentle.

Like a long-haired cat curled up sleeping on him.

Ax had never actually seen a cat.

It was just that the little male Zerg cub had casually mentioned his cat back then, and he remembered it.

Later, he learned that it was a valuable and delicate pet, extremely difficult to raise.

Only some wealthy nobles would keep such a delicate and troublesome pet.

There were no cats in the Prince Consort’s mansion.

Yet, the Prince Consort very much fit his imagination of a cat.
