132 if Extra: If Mousse was the one turned into a zombie

◎ Just bite him to death. Mousse opened his mouth and bit Aix’s shoulder. ◎

Mousse didn’t want to hear Aix’s negation of him.

Even if he wasn’t moved to tears and didn’t love him more because of it, at least he shouldn’t be negated.

“Whether I should have done it or not, only I can decide.”

He couldn’t just watch the person he loved die.

Besides…

“You could use a psychic crystal nucleus to save your teammate when they were infected. Why can’t I use my psychic crystal nucleus to save you? Is our relationship not even as good as yours with your teammate?”

Towards the end, Mousse’s words couldn’t help but carry a sting.

He didn’t actually want to bring up that matter.

He knew Aix loved him, and only him.

But, since Aix could go to such lengths for an ordinary teammate, he shouldn’t deny his love for him at this time.

“How can that be the same? What you gave was your own crystal nucleus! Your own ability!”

Aix hung his head low, pressing a trembling hand against his heart.

For an ability user, their own crystal nucleus and ability were no different from life itself.

Mousse’s action was equivalent to exchanging his own life for his.

And Mousse’s words reminded him again.

Mousse gave him his own crystal nucleus, entrusting his life and future to him, yet he gave the crystal nucleus Mousse needed to someone else.

How disappointed must Mousse have been with him then?

He had failed Mousse’s love.

Mousse had loved him so deeply, staking everything on his own crystal nucleus and future to get him back.

But he, unknowingly, had failed this love.

Aix’s heart felt as if it were being torn apart by knives, his whole body trembling with pain.

The hand pressing on his heart tightened continuously, fingertips digging into his skin, blood flowing out.

“Aix!”

Mousse was startled and quickly grabbed his hand, stopping him from continuing to hurt himself.

Was Aix’s self-harm acting up again?

“Aix, wake up!”

Aix looked up at him, his bloodshot eyes taking in Mousse’s anxious face.

His body ached terribly, but his mind had never been clearer.

He knew exactly what he should do.

He had to return the future that he had occupied, plundered, the future that originally belonged to Mousse, back to him.

“I am very clear. Si Si, stay away, don’t get your clothes dirty.”

Stay away from what?

Don’t get clothes dirty from what?

They were on the bed in the bedroom; where was there anything that could get clothes dirty?

Mousse saw the bloodstains flowing from under Aix’s fingers that were digging into his chest and suddenly realized something.

“No! Are you crazy? It’s on your heart; taking out the crystal nucleus will kill you!”

“No, I have body enhancement and healing abilities. I’ll be fine. I can repair myself before I’m on the verge of death.”

Aix looked at Mousse seriously, his tone unhurried, calmly and earnestly explaining to him that he wouldn’t die from taking out the crystal nucleus.

Mousse was furious.

However, he thought the one who was truly crazy was Aix.

“I don’t need any crystal nucleus, don’t act on your own!”

Mousse was so angry he became incoherent.

“Do you think if you return the crystal nucleus to me, we’ll be even? Do you think you can separate from me at any time like that?”

Aix’s eyes filled with pain.

How could he want to separate from Mousse.

He owed Mousse a debt he could never repay.

It wasn’t as simple as taking someone’s ability and crystal nucleus at the beginning of the apocalypse and then returning a crystal nucleus four or five years later to call it even.

How could a life-saving item in a moment of mortal danger be the same as a relinquished return during a time of worry-free life?

He could never repay it.

But not being able to repay it and doing nothing were two different things.

“Si Si, you need an ability. You’ve always wanted to have an ability again.”

Aix focused on Mousse, his gaze showing a gentleness never so exposed before.

“No… it’s not like that.”

Mousse denied subconsciously.

He did want to have an ability again, but not in this way.

He never thought about taking the crystal nucleus back from Aix’s body.

Even if that crystal nucleus called to him day and night, attracted him.

The crystal nucleus had always wanted to return to his body, but he had never agreed.

Just a short while ago, he had refused it.

Mousse suddenly remembered that when he refused the psychic ability in his heart, the psychic ability had transmitted his thoughts into Aix’s mind.

The psychic ability knew he wouldn’t take it back, so it used this method to lay everything bare before Aix.

He was played by his own former ability.

But at the moment the psychic ability transmitted his thoughts, Mousse vaguely grasped something.

As early as when he recovered consciousness from the empty-headed zombie state, he had established a connection with the psychic ability.

And at that moment, the connection became clearer.

“Wait, I think I can…”

While holding Aix’s hand to prevent his self-harm, Mousse sank his mind to search, finding the connection between himself and the psychic ability.

【I can use the psychic ability.】

Mousse’s thought was transmitted into Aix’s mind through the psychic connection.

Aix looked up in astonishment, meeting Mousse’s eyes.

It worked!

Mousse was overjoyed.

“See, you don’t need to return the crystal nucleus to me, I can use the ability too.”

Mousse was overjoyed.

“As long as you are by my side, I can mobilize and use the ability through the psychic connection.”

So, there was no need to dig out the crystal nucleus.

Finally finding a solution, Mousse gave Aix a brilliant smile.

“You will always be by my side, right?”

“Of course…”

Aix was still a bit dazed, not quite understanding what had happened.

But he did hear Mousse’s voice.

And he felt Mousse’s mobilization of the ability within his body.

Mousse could use his body’s ability through some unique connection.

This seemed…

Aix wavered slightly.

He certainly believed that returning the crystal nucleus to Mousse was the best choice.

It was Mousse’s thing, it should belong to Mousse.

But Mousse didn’t accept it.

Forcing it would scare Mousse.

Doing it like this wasn’t impossible either.

Anyway, he would always be by Mousse’s side, protecting Mousse…

“Then there’s no problem. As long as you accompany me, I can use the ability, and you can protect me too.”

Mousse looked up at Aix, his magnificent red eyes shining brightly.

Aix met Mousse’s eyes. That beautiful yet piercing red color was like a basin of cold water poured over him, extinguishing all his fantasies and waking him up instantly.

No, he couldn’t protect Mousse.

He had failed to protect Mousse.

He was an incompetent protector.

His negligence and dereliction of duty caused Mousse to be scratched and infected by a zombie right beside him, making Mousse “die” in front of him.

How could he still believe he could protect Mousse well?

“I’m sorry.”

Aix said in a low voice.

Mousse was baffled.

Was he apologizing for the crystal nucleus matter?

“Nothing is more important than you,” Mousse said.

Aix stared at Mousse blankly.

Before seeing Mousse’s memory, he never thought Mousse loved him so much.

Even after seeing the memory, he only dared to believe that such love was only in the past.

After he had failed Mousse’s love, the love disappeared.

It should have disappeared.

But Mousse told him that nothing was more important than him.

Mousse still loved him deeply.

But for him, too, nothing was more important than Mousse.

He was about to fail this long-desired love again.

Aix’s eyes reddened, a heat rising in them, but he forced himself not to show a fragile and不堪 (unbearable) appearance.

“I’m sorry.”

He said again, gently pushing Mousse back.

Mousse vaguely realized something and wanted to get closer to grab Aix’s hand, but mutant plants wrapped around him from all directions, restraining him.

More mutant plants wove a dense and impenetrable net in front of him, standing between him and Aix, completely blocking Aix from view.

A strong and sweet smell of blood suddenly spread.

So fragrant that it made Mousse’s mind dazed, his head dizzy, and he instinctively wanted to pounce forward.

But then, intense fear and panic spread from his body, suppressing the appetite generated by his zombie instinct.

Mousse suddenly sobered up.

He couldn’t believe what he was thinking, but everything pointed to that one answer, leaving him no choice but to believe.

“Aix!!!”

Mousse almost lost his mind, pouncing forward madly.

The mutant plants didn’t dare to truly hurt him, loosening their strength, letting him fall onto the net woven from vines.

The vine net was like a wall, standing firm in front of him, not wavering a bit.

They even spread rapidly to both sides until they completely sealed off all paths, splitting the entire room in half.

“Aix, you can’t do this… I will hate you! I will really hate you!”

Mousse clung to the vine wall, scratching and pulling at the vines crazily.

Suddenly, the vine wall loosened, a large hole separated in the middle, and Mousse fell forward due to inertia.

He was caught.

By Aix’s arm.

Mousse looked up in a daze, only seeing Aix’s shirt stained red with blood over a large area, and his brain went dizzy again.

Aix pursed his lips tightly, holding his arm out stiffly, supporting Mousse with his clean hand, not daring to let him touch his body.

Mousse endured the dizziness, swatted away Aix’s arm, and pounced, tearing open the coat Aix had pulled together in a futile attempt to cover up.

The body underneath was crimson red starting from the heart, blood flowing down to his waist, disappearing into his waistband.

But the skin was intact, the same futile attempt at concealment.

The strong smell of blood stimulated Mousse’s senses, and he cried uncontrollably.

“I hate you… I hate you…”

Aix was silent for a long time, then managed to raise his relatively clean left hand and loosely embraced Mousse.

He had already anticipated this.

As soon as he acted against Mousse’s wishes, he had foreseen the consequences.

But Mousse himself, Mousse’s safety, was greater than everything.

Its importance was even far greater than Mousse’s love for him.

He didn’t trust that he could protect Mousse well.

Compared to him, he hoped more that Mousse himself would possess an ability, the ability to protect himself forever.

He also knew his insistence would hurt Mousse.

Mousse might be sad for a while because of this, but when this period passed, when he walked out of the shadow, he would break out of his cocoon and become a butterfly.

He would become a tall and handsome poplar.

Not a weak and powerless dodder flower.

He would have a splendid and brilliant life.

As for him, the person who once failed and hurt him, he would also be gradually forgotten by Mousse.

Under the erosion of time, he would not cause a single ripple in Mousse’s life.

Aix gently held Mousse’s wrist and pressed the transparent crystal nucleus against it.

Mousse sensed something and abruptly flung Aix’s hand away.

Intense heat came from his wrist, and a brilliant white light flared.

After the light faded, the room was deathly quiet.

Mousse’s shoulders slumped, he hung his head and stared at the faint, almost disappearing scar on his wrist, saying nothing.

Aix raised his hand wanting to comfort him, but before he could touch him, he saw the slight tremble of his shoulder, full of resistance.

He silently withdrew his hand.

“Get out.”

Mousse said hoarsely: “I don’t want to see you.”

Aix paused, then slowly moved his legs that seemed to have lost all feeling, silently getting up.

The moment he got out of bed and stood up, a wave of dizziness hit his brain; his limbs were cold and weak from excessive blood loss.

He raised his hand to hold his head, stood there for a moment, then forced himself to walk out.

Mousse abruptly turned his head, biting his lip and glaring at his back.

Having regained the psychic ability, he could clearly perceive Aix’s emotions.

Relief, pain, dead silence.

As if he were about to die.

He was like he was preparing to go to his death.

“Stop! You come back here!”

Mousse glared at his back and said.

Aix’s footsteps paused slightly, he slowly turned around, and under Mousse’s gaze, walked slowly to the bedside, standing there rigidly, waiting for his sentence.

Mousse looked at his pale face, feeling extremely uncomfortable.

He wanted to pull him onto the bed.

But the bed was full of blood, not suitable for rest at all, and it would give Mousse an untimely appetite.

He got out of bed, grabbed Aix, wanting to walk out.

The icy touch of his hand made him pause.

Saying he had healing abilities and would be fine, yet his body temperature dropped to this extent, even he, a zombie, felt cold.

And still forcing himself to pretend nothing was wrong.

Mousse was both angry and heartbroken, wanting to have a big fight with Aix, to point at his nose and scold him.

But meeting Aix’s deep and silent eyes, he knew Aix wouldn’t argue with him at all; he would only silently accept everything he gave, whether it was harm or something else.

Mousse was extremely distressed and turned to hug him gently.

“Last time. If you dare to do something like this again, I will never forgive you.”

Aix was in a period of slow thinking after having his psychic ability stripped away. He was stunned for a good while before realizing that Mousse meant he was forgiven this time.

“Si Si?”

Aix was incredulous, tentatively reaching out to embrace Mousse’s shoulder, and was not rejected.

So, he hugged tighter.

Mousse smelled the rich scent of blood in Aix’s embrace, still very angry, wanting to punch him.

But in Aix’s current state, it felt like one punch would knock him unconscious.

Couldn’t punch him, couldn’t scold him.

Frustrated, Mousse opened his mouth and bit Aix’s shoulder.

Just bite him to death.
