RSDH CH17
Sister Yu was squatting in the livestream room watching her own artist, and once again laughed until her face mask cracked. She never thought Duan Xingye would have such good program effects.
In the past, she evaluated Duan Xingye’s variety sense as poor because those shows were pre-recorded, and Duan Xingye didn’t like to show off. Among numerous guests, he was often the one with the most scenes cut.
Now, switching to a 24/7 livestream, anyone would have moments where they couldn’t keep up appearances. Moreover, there was a wonderful chemical reaction between Duan Xingye and his partner Cheng Duzhou. This was probably because they were childhood friends and a married couple; they were familiar enough to forget their reservations, causing Duan Xingye’s aloof persona to collapse repeatedly.
Sister Yu opened Weibo, and the topic #DuanXingye Famous Scenes Collection# had once again climbed to the top of the trending search.
While other teams were spending money to buy rankings, her team didn’t need to bother with promotion at all; they could counterattack just by relying on organic traffic.
One word: Awesome!
At the seaside campsite, the production team arranged an RV for each group of guests. Just from the exterior, one could see the gap in specifications and grades.
The largest one had understated luxury paintwork, a high roof, and a wide body, looking like a mobile cottage.
The smallest one was dusty and square, just a van.
Confirmed by the program team, Cheng Duzhou and Duan Xingye arrived at the campsite first.
After waiting for another ten minutes or so, Jiang Li and Wu Enqi arrived one after another.
Because they had successfully completed the tasks, the two couples wept with joy. Upon seeing Cheng Duzhou and Duan Xingye, the distance from their first meeting was gone. They enthusiastically went up to chat, thanking them again for their help in the first stage of the mission.
While Wu Enqi was pouring out her grievances in front of everyone, Jiang Li quietly nudged Cheng Duzhou, glanced at Duan Xingye, and held back a laugh: “Your husband is so cute, like a cat.”
Cheng Duzhou followed her gaze.
Duan Xingye was sitting on a folding chair beside a sea hibiscus not far away. His wrist hung loosely, and the evening breeze gently blew his highlighted hair. Half of his bright face was immersed in the twilight. The orange-red flame of the setting sun danced on the edge of his jawline, and that same flame danced in his clear eyes as he watched Wu Enqi, who kept talking.
He didn’t join the crowd, whether he didn’t want to or disdained to. The deepening twilight glow covered the petulance and sharpness in his expression, adding a bit of obedient dullness to him, like a cat squatting in a corner, poking its head out to observe humans.
At this moment, a sea breeze as gentle as water passed by, blowing open the door to Cheng Duzhou’s heart and flooding it with an indescribable tenderness.
Duan Xingye was sitting alone resting when suddenly, a bunch of feathers hung down in front of his eyes.
A few pure white feathers tied with hemp rope—it was a wind chime hanging at the door of the RV. It made no sound and was just a decoration. The other end was held in Cheng Duzhou’s hand.
Duan Xingye lazily lifted his eyelids, took a look, then looked back at the crowd as if nothing had happened.
Cheng Duzhou, however, enjoyed it tirelessly, shaking the wind chime up and down in front of Duan Xingye.
Duan Xingye’s brow furrowed slightly, and he raised eyes that had lost patience. “Are you bored or what?”
Cheng Duzhou looked sheepish, gave an “oh,” played with the feathers himself for a while, and then casually hung it on a branch of the sea hibiscus above.
Everyone had chatted enough.
Jiang Li asked the production team: “The rooms are settled, can we go in now?”
The chief director looked troubled and said, “There is one more group of guests on the way, but they will be here very soon. After everyone is here, we will inspect the rooms together.”
Everyone could tell who the drag was, so it wasn’t appropriate to say more.
Cheng Duzhou walked back. When he looked up, he saw Duan Xingye under the sea hibiscus tree ahead, leaning back against the chair, stretching one arm upwards to grab the white feathers hanging on the branch. The feathers swayed in the wind, swinging out of reach. He straightened his fingertips and tried again. After three or four attempts, he was having a great time playing by himself.
Cheng Duzhou couldn’t hold back a pfft, the corners of his lips rising in a huge arc.
The camera first captured Cheng Duzhou’s uncontrollable smile, then turned to where his gaze was directed.
The bullet comments, which had slowed down, rolled excitedly again.
“Feels like Teacher Duan is playing with a cat teaser!”
“Who died from cuteness? Me!”
“Why is it so sweet when one just looks at the other and smiles?”
“President Cheng must really want to hide the little kitten away.”
Wait until it was completely dark, Huang Liang and Tao Ziyi finally arrived at the campsite.
The other groups’ livestreams applauded one after another.
“Welcome the Strongest Brains~”
“Let me tell you a joke: They were determined to go out to sea, and the program team couldn’t pull them back. In the end, they got stuck on a deserted island.”
“Dying of laughter, the program team even sent a boat to pick them up. What a big face. The ‘Yellow Peach’ CP must be the guests the program team is propping up, right?”
“My idol can’t pack luggage, but he arrived at the destination first. Your idol is so awesome, why did he need the program team to fish him out?”
Huang Liang and Tao Ziyi’s experience all afternoon could be described as tumultuous. They got out of the car looking dusty and disheveled. Facing the others waiting by the beach, their smiles were very forced.
Everyone urged to inspect the RVs, wanting to check in as soon as possible.
Starting with the fourth-place van. Sliding open the door, the situation inside was clear at a glance: only an air mattress.
It meant they could only curl up inside to sleep; showers and toilets had to be used at the public seaside facilities.
Tao Ziyi couldn’t even hold onto his last sliver of a smile.
As for the second and third-place RVs, they had all the functions, with the difference limited to space; both were a bit cramped.
When the first-place RV was revealed, the other groups let out “Wow~” sounds of admiration. The space inside was more than double that of the others. Someone as tall as Cheng Duzhou didn’t need to bend over inside. Especially the bathroom, it was very spacious, instantly boosting happiness. The decoration style was concise and clear, like a luxury standard room.
Amidst everyone’s envious gazes, Cheng Duzhou and Duan Xingye got on the vehicle.
The program team announced a dinner banquet by the sea, giving everyone an hour of rest before gathering.
Since the follow directors didn’t enter the RVs, the guests turned on their phone livestreams so they could continue interacting with the audience after getting on the vehicle.
Only Tao Ziyi’s group was an exception. There was no partitioned space inside their vehicle, making changing clothes inconvenient, so the phone stand was placed outside the vehicle.
Tao Ziyi lay straight as soon as he got into the van, staring at the mottled artificial leather ceiling. After a long time, he punched the air mattress beneath him indignantly. “I was wondering why I didn’t see Duan Xingye and the others catch up along the way!”
Duan Xingye and Cheng Duzhou reasoned logically after coming ashore, and he believed it. Turns out that couple never intended to practice it.
Their group waited for passing fishing boats on the deserted island, looking wretched, and their livestream popularity plummeted. In contrast, Duan Xingye’s group consistently held the number one ratings and exploded two trending searches in one afternoon.
#Wedding Anniversary#
#Bamboo Horse Double First Love#
More and more people were entering the pit.
Before the broadcast, Tao Ziyi and Huang Liang were the most favored CP. Now he was suppressed by his arch-enemy and couldn’t turn over.
“They won because they know how to act.” Tao Ziyi recalled the trending videos he saw on the way, unwilling to accept it. “Even the wedding anniversary date they gave wasn’t unified, proving they never had the habit of celebrating anniversaries together. Definitely a plastic couple! Acting loving in front of the camera, but full of holes underneath!”
Huang Liang felt like he believed the rival couple and ended up being played, full of anger. “What lunar calendar, solar calendar? I bet Cheng Duzhou couldn’t remember clearly himself. He just got lucky in the end, a blind cat meeting a dead mouse.”
The two shared a common enemy. After putting their heads together, they decided to find an opportunity at the dinner banquet tonight to point out that Cheng Duzhou and Duan Xingye never celebrated their wedding anniversary. Making a fuss about it would definitely greatly discount their image in the audience’s hearts.
Duan Xingye had walked outside all afternoon and sweated, so he prepared to take a shower during the break.
In the inner room of the RV, he opened the suitcase only to find it stuffed almost to bursting.
Just the towels Cheng Duzhou brought for him included four types, ranging from square towels to full-body bath towels.
Three sets of clothes were brought, one of which was obviously a spare.
The daily items he usually used at home could all be seen in the suitcase.
Duan Xingye also saw a jewelry box.
He opened the box. Inside was that brown sapphire wristwatch. It looked high-end, but he had never heard of the brand, and information online was vague. Cheng Duzhou gave it to him last year, seemingly as an apology for something. He had forgotten exactly what matter it was.
Duan Xingye had never worn it once, simply feeling there was no reason to wear a gift from Cheng Duzhou. Therefore, this watch was usually kept in the glass cabinet in the walk-in closet.
Cheng Duzhou must have brought it considering he usually wore accessories with his outfits.
Duan Xingye looked at the jewelry and suddenly thought of something. He took out his phone—the program team returned it after the mission was completed.
He had an Instagram account with an Iceland IP address and a garbled name, “uriensdkgm.” It was his private alt account, very low-key. He didn’t follow anyone, didn’t let anyone see, turned off comments, and rarely checked DMs.
Duan Xingye occasionally shared pictures on it, including this watch.
He scrolled up, found the related post, and checked the date.
Posted on March 5th, which was the day he received the gift.
Duan Xingye opened the calendar and looked up March 5th of last year.
His fingertip swept along the row of numbers and stopped.
March 5th, 2022, was the third day of the second lunar month.
Their wedding anniversary.
Duan Xingye squatted there, lowered his head, touched his lips to his knees, his upturned eyes staring at that yellow-brown sapphire watch.
Maintaining this posture for quite a while, he picked out a dead-leaf yellow shirt from the suitcase.
It matched the watch perfectly.
…
After Duan Xingye came out from his shower, Cheng Duzhou also went in to wash.
Duan Xingye came to the small living area of the RV, sat on the chair by the window, and plugged in the hairdryer.
The hairdryer was also brought by Cheng Duzhou from home.
Under the hot breeze, Duan Xingye tilted his head and stroked his hair. When he raised his hand, the brown gem watch on his left wrist was revealed from his sleeve, reflecting the deep blue sea surface shimmering with moonlight outside the window.
The livestream phone was placed right next to him.
“Mommy! My Teacher Duan is as beautiful as a painting just blowing his hair casually!”
“Looks like a fashion luxury ad. The watch is so pretty.”
“Never seen Teacher Duan wear it before?”
“Quick, say a number and make me give up!”
“Can’t even find it with image search. Where did Teacher Duan buy the watch? Begging for link.”
“Bold guess, this probably isn’t a watch you can get via a link.”
Duan Xingye focused on blow-drying his hair, having no mind to care about the heated discussion in the bullet comments.
When his hair was eighty percent dry, he stopped and started playing on his phone by himself.
No matter how the audience called him, he didn’t respond.
Bullet comments wept: The face anchor is just this willful.
With ten minutes left before gathering, Cheng Duzhou finally came out of the inner room.
Duan Xingye looked up at the sound, his gaze freezing slightly.
Cheng Duzhou wasn’t wearing a shirt. He was wiping his hair with a towel, revealing smooth lines of lean muscle.
The bullet comments exploded again, the screen full of “Body is amazing!” exclamations.
But suddenly, the comments shifted.
“Sisters! Screenshot and zoom in! There are highlights on his back!”
Duan Xingye obviously noticed the lingering marks on Cheng Duzhou’s back too. His face heated up instantly, and he looked at the livestream almost subconsciously.
“Those claw marks might be semi-permanent :)”
“Teacher Duan still hasn’t cut his nails?”
“You two have quite a high frequency.”
“…”
If this went on, Duan Xingye wouldn’t be surprised if the livestream got banned.
He hurriedly reminded, “Cheng Duzhou, put on your clothes.”
Cheng Duzhou looked at him. “What’s wrong?”
Before his hair was dry, Cheng Duzhou usually didn’t wear a shirt. He disliked the feeling of water dripping and sticking the back collar to his skin.
Duan Xingye’s voice lowered slightly. “Wear it when I tell you to wear it!”
Cheng Duzhou sensed his impatience and felt a bit baffled. Soon, his gaze caught the phone stand next to Duan Xingye.
His dark eyes moved slightly.
Dislikes me revealing too much, being seen by the audience.
Duan Xingye had a stubborn and tenacious possessiveness over his things, ever since childhood.
Cheng Duzhou lowered his eyes, slowly turned his back to the camera, preventing the audience from seeing more.
He had already made a concession in action, but deliberately whispered, “I won’t.”
He lowered his head to wipe his hair, the corner of his lips tilting up in a barely perceptible arc.
“You!” Duan Xingye almost fainted from anger.
With this turn, the mottled scratch marks on Cheng Duzhou’s back were directly exposed to the audience’s eyes.
The livestream room was going crazy.
Duan Xingye couldn’t sit still. He grabbed a large bath towel from the side, walked over in two or three steps, and threw it directly over Cheng Duzhou’s head, covering the man’s lean upper body. Then he grabbed both sides of the towel and pulled him towards himself, aggressive:
“Put your clothes on properly for me!”
Cheng Duzhou had the bath towel draped over his head, wet hair scattered over his eyelids. He stared unblinkingly at Duan Xingye. Suddenly, without warning, he reached out and cupped Duan Xingye’s cheeks, bent down, and planted a loud smack on his lips.
Duan Xingye was stunned: “?”
Cheng Duzhou scratched Duan Xingye’s cheek with his fingertips, a warm smile floating in his eyes.
Jealous.
What to do? So cute.
