RBNR Ch71: Feng Chengyu must have a Flow account

The desserts ordered by Feng Chengyu arrived as scheduled the next afternoon. Brother Lu and Xiao Xu distributed them to the crew. A few days earlier, Xu Tangzhou and another lead actor, Xiao Yang, had also treated everyone, creating a lively and harmonious atmosphere. Everyone accepted the desserts and thanked them.

The screenwriter Gu Xiaoshan also came to the set. Since he felt that Qin Bao hadn’t fully grasped the character’s mindset, Qin Bao took some time to reread the script for the previous scenes, trying to understand the character’s personality and motivations.

After reading, Qin Bao took his portion of the dessert. After a few bites, his expression changed, and he asked Brother Lu, “What flavor did you give to Xu Tangzhou?”

Brother Lu thought for a moment, “The same as yours.”

Qin Bao stood up immediately, “No, it has mulberries. He’s allergic to berries.”

Damn, Brother Lu realized it was bad. The dessert had already been distributed for some time and might have been eaten.

Xiao Xu quickly put down his portion, “I’ll go check right away!”

He then ran out under the sun.

Xu Tangzhou was feeding a horse under a sunshade when Xiao Xu arrived. The dessert was still there, untouched, much to Xiao Xu’s relief.

From a distance, Qin Bao saw them talking. Then Xiao Xu picked up the dessert, and Xu Tangzhou looked in Qin Bao’s direction. What are you looking at? I don’t want to get swollen like a pig and affect the filming.

Qin Bao also breathed a sigh of relief and nonchalantly continued eating his portion.

The little incident passed quickly. There weren’t many scenes in the afternoon, and everyone finished early.

Qin Bao had no scenes until the next evening, so he secretly bought a plane ticket, planning to return to the capital for a bit.

He didn’t know Feng Chengyu’s schedule and didn’t want to call to ask, fearing it would ruin the surprise.

Worried about missing Feng Chengyu, he regretted not having Secretary Zhong’s Dingxun contact all this time.

Feng Chengyu always knew his whereabouts, but Qin Bao knew nothing about Feng Chengyu’s situation—except for what Feng Chengyu reported himself.

Alpha took great pleasure in reporting his daily schedule.

It seemed that before the wedding, when Feng Chengyu joked, “Take control of me,” he was sincere. He loved being managed, yet claimed he wasn’t a masochist.

As he was feeling anxious, Xu Tangzhou got into their car.

The crew had only two cars for the actors. They hadn’t ridden together earlier, so Xiao Xu and Brother Lu were wary when Xu Tangzhou sat next to Qin Bao.

Qin Bao showed no reaction, turning his face to look out the window.

Xu Tangzhou said, “Um… this afternoon, how did you know I’m allergic to berries?”

Qin Bao didn’t turn his head, “You told me before.”

You came to me with a swollen face, worried your boyfriend would mind.

Xu Tangzhou fell silent for a while.

Qin Bao couldn’t stand it anymore. They were the most familiar people, knowing even each other’s underwear sizes, yet had to interact like strangers on the same set. He decided to speak frankly, “You may not want to deal with me, but that doesn’t mean I want to see you suffer. I used to consider you my best friend. This time, I’ll consider it as paying you back. After this, we owe each other nothing.”

All paid back.

Those youthful days, the green years, and the unconditional companionship.

No need to dwell on them anymore.

To his surprise, Xu Tangzhou looked at him strangely, “Did we know each other before?”

Qin Bao, tears welling up, felt a strong bitterness in his nose. He stood up to leave but was pulled back by Xu Tangzhou’s clothes: “Wait!”

They both wore costumes with long robes and wide sleeves. Qin Bao couldn’t break free, “What?”

Want to argue?

Xu Tangzhou looked at him, “If I said I have amnesia, would you believe me?”

Qin Bao almost laughed in anger, “Do I look like an idiot? Come up with a better story.”

“I’m serious. Only a scumbag would lie to you,” Xu Tangzhou said urgently, “I really have amnesia!”

It was ridiculous. Qin Bao sat back down, “Then tell me, let’s see what kind of story you can make up.”

Xu Tangzhou looked pitiful, touching his head as he explained, “Four years ago, I suffered a severe head injury, and I forgot almost everything after the age of twelve.”

The car was crowded, and everyone wisely stayed quiet.

This wasn’t the place for a chat. They only spoke briefly. Qin Bao found it hard to believe such a movie-like plot could be real.

But after getting off the car, facing Xu Tangzhou’s request to go to his room, Qin Bao didn’t refuse.

Brother Lu reminded Qin Bao about his flight, “You need to remove your makeup. Don’t chat for too long. I’ll call you when it’s time.”

Qin Bao nodded, his eyes still red, emotions unsettled.

Xiao Xu and Xu Tangzhou’s assistant were strangely silent, staring at each other.

Xiao Xu said, “Brother Bao, I’ll go prepare your documents first.”

Xu Tangzhou’s assistant added, “You two chat. I’ll cut some fruit for you.”

Qin Bao and Xu Tangzhou went to Qin Bao’s room. Qin Bao, still upset, didn’t want to talk first.

Xu Tangzhou, seemingly unaware of Qin Bao’s mood, asked, “Qin Bao, why didn’t you call out to me when we met at the elevator?”

Qin Bao couldn’t believe it and sneered, “You didn’t call me either. Your face was as cold as ice. Just like now.”

Xu Tangzhou blushed visibly, “It’s because of my pheromones…”

When they last had contact, Xu Tangzhou hadn’t differentiated yet.

According to Xu Tangzhou, he differentiated that year. His pheromones were rare, smelling like fresh snow, affecting his temperament. After the college entrance exam, he experienced a major landslide on a train. Though he survived, his head was severely injured, causing amnesia.

After recovering, he tried to retrieve his lost memories and reconnect with old friends but failed because he lost his phone.

He also tried logging into social media with his ID number, but everything was mysteriously deleted.

Later, when he came to the capital for university, he no longer remembered who Qin Bao was.

The more Qin Bao listened, the more shocked he became. That year, the south experienced heavy rains, leading to a mudslide disaster, and a train had derailed. He had never imagined that Xu Tangzhou would be on that train.

Calculating the time, when he and Shan Yiming went to Qinan to find Xu Tangzhou, Xu Tangzhou was lying in a hospital, fighting for his life.

But why did Xu Tangzhou’s mother lie?

Fate had played a cruel joke, and there was no time to investigate further. Tears welled up in Qin Bao’s eyes, and he could only ask, “Did it hurt?”

Xu Tangzhou: “Hmm?”

Had he become stupid?

His brain might still be injured, right?

Qin Bao yelled, “I’m asking if your head still hurts!”

Of course, it didn’t hurt anymore, Xu Tangzhou said. It only hurt when he tried to remember something. Moreover, he still didn’t remember anything about his time with Qin Bao.

Qin Bao looked up, holding back his tears. “Because you don’t remember, you dared to hire trolls to slander me?!”

“I didn’t!” Xu Tangzhou felt wronged, “I never hired trolls to slander you. Wasn’t it you who hired trolls to slander me first?”

It turned out to be a misunderstanding.

Apparently, some fans were really passionate about making their favorite stars stand out.

With the misunderstanding cleared up, Qin Bao asked Xu Tangzhou about the matter with that older brother. Since the story about failing the college entrance exam was false, the breakup might also have been a one-sided claim by Xu Tangzhou’s mother. Remembering how deeply in love Xu Tangzhou had been, Qin Bao felt things weren’t that simple.

What shocked Xu Tangzhou was that the older brother was none other than the superstar Ling Che.

What a strange coincidence!

What’s worse, Xu Tangzhou had actually dumped Ling Che after his differentiation. Like Qin Bao, they hadn’t seen each other for four years. They met again on a popular variety show, and it turned out that Ling Che, seemingly a hopeless romantic, had rekindled their relationship without holding a grudge!

Wow, Xu Tangzhou was impressive.

The two chatted late into the night. Initially, Brother Lu called to urge Qin Bao once, but Qin Bao gave up on going to the airport. He didn’t return to the capital, nor did he see Feng Chengyu.

Reuniting with his best friend, Qin Bao couldn’t care less about Feng Chengyu at that moment. Old friends reunited, they had endless things to talk about.

Xu Tangzhou, having forgotten everything about Ling Che, pestered Qin Bao to tell him everything.

Four years later, Qin Bao was once again fed the same dog food, even more lavish than before!

If Xu Tangzhou’s assistant hadn’t come to remind them, they might have chatted all night.

Since he didn’t return to the capital, Qin Bao had some free time during the day and went to find the screenwriter, Teacher Gu Xiaoshan. Through reading the script, Qin Bao found a minor plot issue and humbly sought Gu Xiaoshan’s advice.

His earnest attitude greatly impressed Gu Xiaoshan, who personally explained the character’s mindset to him.

After their discussion, Gu Xiaoshan made a bold decision to change a scene, turning a group scene into a solo performance to better reflect the protagonist’s psychological transformation.

In the afternoon, during a break from set changes, Gu Xiaoshan chatted with Qin Bao, “I’ve seen your performance in ‘Echoes.’ You’ve made significant progress since then, though it seems I had a preconceived notion.”

Qin Bao replied, “Teacher Gu, to be honest, I suffered from malicious editing in ‘Echoes’ due to personal grievances. They breached the contract, and my studio is suing them.”

Gu Xiaoshan was skeptical, “Such a big production could have such issues?”

“It happens,” Qin Bao said, “I hope for a good outcome, then you’ll understand.”

The entire team knew Gu Xiaoshan wanted to change the scene, but others didn’t.

The paparazzi and freelance photographers at the film set speculated about Qin Bao being a drama king, making it a trending topic. Xu Tangzhou, upset, uploaded a photo with Qin Bao to clarify.

The moment this post went live, fans on both sides were stunned.

However, soon more genuine fans who had been silent began to cheer.

[Great, I knew it wasn’t some crew’s publicity stunt!]

[I love the interaction between these two! (Crying)(Crying)]

[Ah, I guessed you two might have known each other!]

[Friendship is also lovely to ship!]

This caused quite a stir. When Feng Chengyu called, he was amused, “Made up?”

Even though he had bought a ticket to return, he prepared to pick him up early, but Xiao Bao didn’t show up.

Qin Bao replied with a reluctant “Mm” and said hesitantly, “Actually, we didn’t really have a fight, so it’s not exactly making up.”

He explained everything about Xu Tangzhou to Feng Chengyu, “So, he actually had a serious injury, forgot about me, and that’s why we lost contact. When he came to the capital, he didn’t look for me either. Feng Chengyu, we almost missed each other. Luckily, it was your mulberry dessert that prompted him to talk to me and ask why I knew about his allergy.”

“No, Xiao Bao,” Feng Chengyu said, “You didn’t miss each other because of the dessert or because he took the initiative. It’s because you were brave and took the first step. If you hadn’t gone to the crew, this knot might never have been untied.”

Qin Bao felt warm inside but denied it, “What do you mean I took the first step? I’ve told you many times, I didn’t go there to reconcile with him but to save the scene.”

Feng Chengyu, typing on his end, probably still working, said, “So you’re saying if it weren’t for saving the scene, you wouldn’t have gone, and missing him wouldn’t matter to you?”

Qin Bao: “…”

He was silent for a few seconds, then sullenly said to Feng Chengyu, “If that were the case, then missing him would be missing him. Not all expectations are met with a response. Don’t you understand such a simple truth?”

Feng Chengyu was indeed working, with Jacob there.

Mo Yan was planning a concept exhibition that required curation and on-site art installations. Feng Chu was the curator, and the installation work was given to Ms. Rong. Jacob joked that their families were versatile, capable of handling the entire company’s operations.

After spending a few days with Ms. Rong, they inevitably talked about Qin Bao outside of work. The more Feng Chengyu understood about Qin Bao before meeting him, the more he understood his awkward personality and why he would say such things now.

Just as Feng Chengyu was about to speak, Qin Bao adjusted his tone and said lightly, “Anyway, it’s all fine now. Don’t worry about it.”

Feng Chengyu replied, “Okay.” He glanced at Jacob, who had just returned from smoking, and asked Qin Bao, “Does Xu Tangzhou know Lu Jia?”

“Lu Jia? I don’t know,” Qin Bao said, puzzled. “Why?”

That afternoon, Xu Tangzhou posted on Flow, and an artist named Lu Jia commented and reposted it, even following Qin Bao. Qin Bao noticed that Lu Jia and Xu Tangzhou followed each other, so he followed Lu Jia back.

How did Feng Chengyu know?

Qin Bao strongly suspected that Feng Chengyu had a Flow account.

Feng Chengyu said, “He used to date Jacob.”

“Oh, it’s him,” Qin Bao remembered someone joking about Jacob at the Glodi party last time. “Is he the one they said was Jacob’s little lover in the empire?”

The two had a mutually beneficial relationship—Jacob didn’t want a relationship, and Lu Jia needed resources. Qin Bao didn’t approve of this kind of relationship but didn’t judge others’ choices either.

Feng Chengyu was too reserved. Jacob took the phone and said, “Xiao Bao, your husband doesn’t like to talk behind people’s backs, so I’ll say it. I promise you he had a contract. He dared to hook up with others outside, and I caught him. He’s petty and likes to play little tricks. If you can avoid dealing with him, do so.”

What explosive news! A money-for-love transaction right next to me.

Qin Bao forced out two words: “…Alright.”

After wrapping up work in the evening, Xu Tangzhou came to his room with a pillow, clearly planning to stay the night. “Night chat, okay?”

Qin Bao, with a stern face, said, “Xu Tangzhou, enough. Even if you want me to recall how sweet the dog food was, give me a day to recover. My mouth is getting dry from talking so much.”

This guy wanted to hear about his past with his brother—no, with Ling Che—wanted to know how they used to date. Last night he pestered Qin Bao until late, and today, whenever he had a chance, he would run over, wanting to know every detail.

Qin Bao, parched, had to chug an entire can of soda once he got back to his room.

“Hey, we won’t talk about Ling Che tonight, I promise,” Xu Tangzhou squeezed through the door, pulling out a thermos. “Pear water, chilled! My assistant Wu Nana made it for you.”

Qin Bao reluctantly accepted the thermos. “Really not talking? Not even about how to get him during his heat?”

“That will take longer to plan,” Xu Tangzhou said, blushing. “I haven’t figured out how to do that yet. Tonight, let’s talk about us, okay?”

He stood there with his pillow, looking like a shadow of another person.

“I really want to know what we used to do, what we played. Qin Bao, I don’t seem to have many friends; otherwise, why hasn’t anyone but you ever looked for me?”

Qin Bao felt a bit broken down and said to Xu Tangzhou, “Got it. Go over there first.”

Xu Tangzhou obediently replied, “Okay.”

It wasn’t the first time Qin Bao had slept with Xu Tangzhou. He skillfully made the bed, and Xu Tangzhou jumped in first, praising, “Your bed is so comfortable.”

Qin Bao said, “This is a hotel. Our mattresses are the same. Thank you.”

He pulled Xu Tangzhou up, fixed his pillow with obsessive precision, and fluffed it. Qin Bao felt a bit regretful that he couldn’t sleep hugging Feng Chengyu’s clothes tonight.

He casually mentioned Lu Jia to Xu Tangzhou.

Unexpectedly, Xu Tangzhou wasn’t familiar with him either and asked, “How do you know?”

Qin Bao choked up a bit, choosing not to hide it: “…My boyfriend told me.”

For some reason, he still didn’t mention that he was married, even though the person was Xu Tangzhou.

“Boy-boyfriend?” Xu Tangzhou, oblivious to their recent reconciliation and the fact that they weren’t very close due to his memory loss, gossiped, “Who is it?”

Facing Xu Tangzhou, it felt like going back in time to the day he went to Qinan to find Xu Tangzhou. Qin Bao once again had someone to confide in.

For the first time, he truly introduced his lover to a friend and fully said that name.

He cleared his throat and solemnly said, “It’s Feng Chengyu.”
