Chapter 63: After this, everything of yours will…
“It is my honor,” Yan Xingzhou replied, his peripheral vision glancing at the hand tied to the headboard. He tilted his head suggestively. “So, what is this now?”
“To avoid any accidental discharges in inappropriate places, conducting a safety check before use is always a very necessary matter.” Lin Xi slowly revealed a smile. Catching the slight flicker in Yan Xingzhou’s eyes, he knew the other had clearly guessed his intentions. He narrowed his eyes slightly. “Yan Xingzhou, you probably haven’t noticed, have you? After you entered the room, your ability fluctuations have clearly become a little unstable again.”
He sat on Yan Xingzhou’s body, his back straight, his collar messily open, making the gradually spreading red thorns on his neck look demonic and conspicuous. His words were slow. “I admit I like the taste of your ability’s fluctuations, but if this situation is captured by others, it’s definitely not a good thing.”
From what Lin Xi knew of Yan Xingzhou, he probably never would have thought that something like being unable to stably control his ability’s fluctuations could one day happen to this man.
But it had happened, and as for the reason—the office that appeared in that room back then, and that other Lin Xi, were undoubtedly the answer.
In fact, after coming out of the rift and thinking about it for a bit, Lin Xi had already completely figured out the whole story.
Simply put, the fact that Yan Xingzhou had gotten himself into this state could mostly be described as him bringing it on himself. And on this point, he could even be considered the instigator of it all, with no standing to even blame him. If he had known that his choice back then would push Yan Xingzhou to this point, he might have really hesitated about whether to continue with the choice to self-destruct.
A brief silence fell around them.
Compared to the beginning, their positions were now almost completely reversed. Seemingly dissatisfied with this sudden silence, Lin Xi pulled the tie upwards, causing Yan Xingzhou’s hand to rise a bit higher. He lowered his eyes from above and asked again in a slow voice, “President Yan, you just expressed your loyalty with such conviction. Why are you speechless now?”
Yan Xingzhou lay on the bed, his soft black hair falling to the side of his face, making the contours of his face seem less sharp than usual under the light. After a long moment, he said, “…No need to make a big deal out of it. This level of disorder can be restored with just a little rest.”
“It seems you’ve become quite accustomed to this situation.” Lin Xi raised an eyebrow with a smile that wasn’t quite a smile, staring intently at Yan Xingzhou. “Since President Yan understands his own situation so well, you should be very clear in your heart whether I’m making a big deal out of nothing, right?”
“…” Because of his tied hand, this eye contact was almost completely unavoidable. Yan Xingzhou took a deep breath, then slowly exhaled. Word by word, he spoke as calmly as a concise statement in a corporate meeting, “The first instance of ability disorder occurred in July two years ago. The first complete examination was conducted then, and the conclusion was that the repeated effects of an overly high-intensity ability on oneself led to the emergence of first-generation rejection phenomena. The second abnormality was discovered in December of that year, a confusion of dreams and spatial environment during ability use, lasting 8 minutes and 22 seconds, after which it returned to normal. The third time was in February of last year… The last time, which was today, based on past experience, all ability fluctuations will stabilize by 3 p.m. tomorrow at the latest.”
Lin Xi remained silent throughout, only letting out a laugh of unknown meaning at the very end. “Hearing it like that, everything does seem to be under your control.”
Before Yan Xingzhou could respond, he had already leaned down and blocked all further words with his mouth. After a long while, he released him, not yet fully satisfied, the color in his mismatched eyes deep. “But given the loyalty you just expressed, from now on, everything about you needs to be controlled by me.”
He had a gut feeling that Yan Xingzhou was still hiding things from him, but none of that mattered anymore.
No matter what was being hidden, one thing was certain: from those cold and cruel records, it was not difficult to see that the frequency of this man’s ability fluctuations was undoubtedly getting higher and higher. Continuing like this would be very dangerous.
Sensing that Yan Xingzhou wanted to get up, Lin Xi straightened his waist and pressed him back down directly.
As their clothes rubbed against each other, no more words were needed.
No one spoke again. Calm breaths gradually became heavy, then started to become chaotic.
A long time later, the entire room gradually returned to tranquility.
When Lin Xi got up from the bed, the sky outside was at its darkest.
He squinted at the bright moonlight and looked back at the somewhat overly disheveled figure on the bed.
Yan Xingzhou was also looking at him. The lingering desire that had been provoked had not been resolved, leaving a dense layer of fine sweat on his exposed collarbones. He wasn’t annoyed by the instigator’s teasing expression and gestured with his still-bound hand, his voice still obviously tight. “Can you untie me now?”
Lin Xi asked with a smile, “Don’t tell me you can’t untie something this simple?”
Yan Xingzhou looked at him. “I can, but you’re the one who tied it.”
This answer clearly satisfied Lin Xi greatly. He walked over and untied Yan Xingzhou in a few moves, picked up the phone he had tossed aside, and seemed to finally remember a very important matter. “I’m hungry. It’s time to eat.”
By the time the hotel staff delivered dinner to the room, Yan Xingzhou had just finished his shower and come out of the bathroom.
Lin Xi glanced at the man’s obviously relieved expression, a hint of a smile finally appearing in his eyes. He pushed the meal, which perfectly suited Yan Xingzhou’s tastes, in front of him. “Eat, then sleep.”
Although it did carry some meaning of feigned punishment due to his inability to blame him, Lin Xi really didn’t intentionally not help Yan Xingzhou find release.
After all, too many things had happened that day. Whether it was him or Yan Xingzhou, what they needed most right now was a good rest.
The next day, as the morning light shone through the window again, Lin Xi woke up in Yan Xingzhou’s arms.
In this position, he was almost completely encircled in the man’s arms. With a slight glance up, he could see the handsome and sexy contours of his face.
Lin Xi silently sized him up for a few more moments before he heard a voice in his mind. [Tsk tsk tsk, I thought I slept for long enough, but I didn’t expect you two to last this long.]
Lin Xi: “…………”
He had almost forgotten about the existence of this thing.
[Are you cursing me in your head again?]
“No.”
Lin Xi replied silently in his mind, reached for the clothes tossed aside, and was about to get up when he felt the arm around him tighten slightly.
Yan Xingzhou’s eyes snapped open. When he met Lin Xi’s gaze, the vigilance and panic in his eyes vanished in an instant as if they were an illusion. He very naturally reached out and caressed Lin Xi’s face. “You’re awake?”
“Mm.” Lin Xi deftly put on his clothes, got up, and got out of bed. “It’s getting late. If there are no surprises, the United Administration will inform me of the specific arrangements today. I’ll get ready first.”
As he spoke, he walked towards the bathroom. At the door, he suddenly remembered something and looked back. “You said Shen Nanyang would give you a bargaining chip you couldn’t refuse. Could it be…”
“It should be today.”
Yan Xingzhou leaned against the bed, looking fixedly at Lin Xi. After a moment of silence, he said, “I’ve suddenly discovered that being a ‘workaholic’ is not necessarily a good attribute.”
Lin Xi didn’t quite hear him. “What did you say?”
“Nothing.” Yan Xingzhou waved his hand. “Go on.”
Lin Xi turned and entered the bathroom. A moment later, the sound of trickling water could be heard.
After washing up, he pulled open his collar and observed himself in the mirror. The conspicuous red thorns had almost completely faded.
[Actually, you don’t need to care too much about these details. Those people will soon be too busy to bother with you.]
Lin Xi’s movements paused slightly. “What do you mean?”
[Hmm, how should I put it? Anyway, if there are no accidents, things will get lively very soon.]
The voice in his head seemed to be seriously contemplating how to phrase it. Finally, it said, [Tsk, just don’t ask me. You’ll find out soon enough anyway.]
Lin Xi: “?”
That tone, which was asking for a beating, always gave him a vague feeling that something was about to happen. Just then, he saw the phone he had left on the side vibrate.
Lin Xi glanced at it. It was an encrypted number.
He pressed the answer key.
After a brief pause, a familiar voice came from the other end of the line. “Mr. Lin, are you in your hotel room?”
Lin Xi raised an eyebrow slightly. “Professor Shen?”
“I’m glad you still remember my voice.” Shen Nanyang’s tone was as impeccable as ever. “I’m downstairs. If it’s convenient, I’d like to come up and chat about what we didn’t finish discussing yesterday.”
Lin Xi: “…………”
For a moment, he had no mind to bother with that riddle-loving, terrible contaminant.
Lin Xi subconsciously glanced in the direction of the bathroom door. Thinking of a certain CEO in the room, and then imagining the scene of these two in the same frame, all that was left was a long silence.
Shen Nanyang: “If it’s not convenient, I can come another day.”
Lin Xi: “It’s not inconvenient… just a moment, I’ll, get ready.”
