MCL CH137
Chapter 137: This position was originally ours…
A white palace, conjured out of thin air and carved from heaps of growing bones, exuded a desolate and magnificent beauty.
A figure sat leisurely in the central seat, his lazy gaze sweeping over the bizarrely shaped creatures before him, a faint, half-smiling expression in his eyes.
A thick, putrid smell lingered, swallowed by the powerful contamination radiation.
The contamination value, now completely unleashed without any suppression, filled every corner of the air with a powerful sense of oppression.
Whispers came from all directions.
“What’s going on? Why do I feel Calamity’s presence?”
“Is this a human? No… it’s Calamity? The King has returned?”
“The human defenses are about to be broken. We were just about to succeed, and yet at this very moment…”
“Damn it, why does this human have such a strong sense of oppression? Did he bring us here?”
“Don’t you feel it yet? Calamity has returned. He has really returned.”
…
“Wuyu… what do you mean by summoning us here? You actually listen to this human. Calamity is one thing, but have you also become a running dog for the humans?!”
Wuyu: “…”
Why did that sentence sound so familiar?
Not long ago, He seemed to have cursed a certain useless King of Contaminants with the same words.
However, at this moment, He had no opportunity to reply.
With only a small half of His body remaining, a hand stroked the edge of His non-corporeal mist, now and then. Although there was no sensation, the overly dangerous aura made Him instinctively tense up.
If this capricious human felt the slightest bit of displeasure, He had no doubt that He would be burned to ashes on the spot, just like the other contaminants who had tried to resist.
Wuyu had never been so grateful for the ability he possessed as he was now.
[Anchor].
At least he still had some value to be used by this human. Otherwise, even this small remaining part of his body might not have been left.
Thinking this, Wuyu silently looked around at the A-rank and above contaminants that he had summoned with his ability.
When you’re under someone else’s roof, you have to bow your head. The same goes for contaminants.
To stay alive, I can only sacrifice you all.
“So, are they all gathered?”
Lin Xi’s voice fell by his ear. Wuyu shuddered, feeling as if his non-existent heart had just skipped a beat. “They are! I’ve already summoned all the A-rank and above contaminants in the vicinity!”
“Oh, well done.” Lin Xi patted Wuyu on the head like a puppy, his long, narrow eyes lifting to sweep over the contaminants before him. “From the looks of it, there aren’t as many contaminants in this contamination zone as I thought.”
The overly casual tone was filled with contempt, causing the contaminants below to stir restlessly.
An A-rank contaminant spoke out in dissatisfaction, “You’re the one who had Wuyu summon us? Do you think you can threaten us just by capturing Him? Wuyu is just the temporary regent of the throne. It doesn’t matter if He dies. Your human defensive line is on the verge of complete collapse. This world will soon belong to us. You should just die… Mmph! Aaaahhh—! Gaaahhhhhh!!!”
The rapid growth of tissues inside its body caused its body to explode like an overinflated balloon in an instant, and in a flash, it was completely devoured by the leaping flames.
In just a few seconds, the three-meter-tall burly body was gone, leaving only a patch of charcoal where it had stood.
All the surrounding discussions and sneers completely fell into a deathly silence.
They certainly recognized the ability of the former King of Contaminants.
And not only that, the moment the flame shot up just now was enough for them to feel a wave of death washing over them.
Instinct told them not to try and touch it.
They would die.
“My apologies. When I’m speaking seriously, I don’t like to be interrupted. The same goes for contaminants.”
Lin Xi’s smiling voice sounded very pleasant, but when it fell into their ears, the powerful sense of oppression seemed to squeeze every cell deep inside, allowing no room for doubt. “I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Lin Xi. I was once a human. Your former King of Contaminants, Calamity, is now in my hands. I heard he also walked up to this position over a mountain of corpses back then. I believe you all are very clear about His abilities. As for what my ability is… that’s not important for now. After all, if there’s a need, I can always give you all a chance to understand. As for now, I’m here to inform you all of one thing.”
As he spoke, he slowly leaned forward in his seat, his clasped hands gently stroking in front of him.
His words were not heavy, but every single word was incomparably clear. “Since this position originally belonged to our family’s Calamity, I will now take it back on His behalf. Does anyone have any objections? If you do, I don’t mind having a good, long, chat.”
Lin Xi’s hand was still on Wuyu’s head, patting it as if it were a pet. However, every fluctuation of his fingertips was enough to make Wuyu below feel even more tense.
The moment the last four words fell, an extremely powerful contamination radiation exploded from his side. In the originally oppressive atmosphere, only painful whimpers remained.
The instinct to submit to the strong made the contaminants present subconsciously unable to resist. Something trembled, wanting to leave, but before it could take a step, it had already self-destructed on the spot in the next second.
As the perpetrator, Lin Xi showed no awareness of the slaughter he had just committed. He casually raised an eyebrow, his words deceptively pleasant. “The results aren’t out yet, don’t be in a hurry to leave. Don’t be shy, express your opinions one by one. Oh, isn’t there an old acquaintance over there? Why don’t you speak first?”
Under this half-smiling gaze, Abyss, who had already tried his best to hide in a corner, had no choice but to force a terribly ugly smile onto his face.
The single eye on his face darted around. Before Lin Xi could show any dissatisfaction, he had already bowed gracefully like a gentleman. “Welcome, my King, to your return.”
As his voice fell, a long silence descended.
The powerful king has returned.
Actually, this was not a bad thing for all contaminants.
The process of Calamity stepping on a path of blood to reach the pinnacle back then was still fresh in their minds. Now it seemed His abilities had recovered. No contaminant wanted to experience that hell again.
However, this human before them was less like a new monarch and more like—a cruel and ruthless tyrant.
His style of killing at the slightest disagreement was simply more inhuman than them, the contaminants!
However, in the end, no one would express their opinion in such a scene.
The world of contaminants had always respected the strong. If they were really dissatisfied with the future tyranny, they would just find an opportunity to drag this hateful human down from that position… They should be able to wait for such a day, right?
In the deathly silence, silent thoughts flowed in the dark.
Finally, one by one, the high-level contaminants present bent their knees. “We welcome… your return…”
Lin Xi finally revealed a satisfied smile and waved his hand in a very harmless manner. “A new king lights three fires. Let’s discuss now how to burn this first fire. Abyss, come. This matter requires you and Wuyu to complete it together.”
Abyss, who hadn’t had time to hide back in the corner: “…”
Why did it feel like he was waiting for Him there all along?
He really didn’t want to participate.
