Chapter 22: The Disfigured and Blind Sect Leader (22)

Although Ying Zhao found Nan Zheng’s demeanor extremely nauseating, he merely observed quietly. He casually scanned the disciples of Piaomiao Pavilion and exchanged a few polite words with Nan Zheng before leaving with Wen Renming.

Nan Zheng, saying he had many things to prepare for the Daoist couple ceremony, did not keep Ying Zhao. Ying Zhao believed Nan Zheng was indeed preparing for the ceremony.

After all, in five days, numerous prominent figures in the cultivation world would come to Piaomiao Pavilion. Given Nan Zheng’s hypocritical facade, there was no way he would not meticulously handle the surface matters and risk gaining a bad reputation for mistreating his disciples.

Once Ying Zhao returned to his guest room with Wen Renming and closed the door, he immediately pressed Wen Renming against the door and kissed him deeply.

Only when he had sucked Wen Renming’s lips, making them red, did Ying Zhao stop. Seeing Wen Renming’s slightly flushed face, Ying Zhao smiled and pecked his lips a couple of times. Leaning close to his ear, he whispered:

“With all those pesky people around, it’s so inconvenient that I can’t even kiss you!”

Wen Renming swallowed and softly replied:

“Yunping, actually, you can kiss me anytime, anywhere!”

Hearing Wen Renming’s words, Ying Zhao smiled, rubbing his nose against Wen Renming’s straight nose, and said with a smile:

“I think so too, but since we are still in Piaomiao Pavilion, being too intimate might alert him. Once we deal with Nan Zheng and Piaomiao Pavilion, we can be free.”

Hearing this, Wen Renming tightened his embrace and nodded vigorously, feeling an even more urgent desire to eradicate Piaomiao Pavilion.

Five days later would be the most important day of his life. He would hold the Daoist couple ceremony with his beloved, achieving the greatest happiness of his life.

By then, they would swear an oath to the Heavenly Dao and form a bond, making Yunping truly his.

Thinking of this, Wen Renming’s heart burned with passion. He couldn’t help but tighten his arms, kissing Ying Zhao’s neck and deeply breathing in his scent, causing an uncontrollable change in his body.

Naturally, Ying Zhao, who was tightly embracing Wen Renming, felt this. He smiled mischievously, poked Wen Renming’s cheek with a finger, and said in a slightly serious tone:

“Wen Renming, did you forget? I told you to take good care of your body.”

Wen Renming raised his head, not understanding what Ying Zhao meant. Seeing Wen Renming’s puzzled expression, Ying Zhao’s smile deepened. Leaning closer, he teased:

“But suppressing yourself is bad for your health!”

With that, he gently bit Wen Renming’s earlobe.

Wen Renming was stunned for a moment but quickly understood Ying Zhao’s meaning. He momentarily stopped breathing, then firmly hugged Ying Zhao and carried him to the bed.

He then pressed himself against Ying Zhao, and they kissed passionately again. Since they had returned to Piaomiao Pavilion and Ying Zhao had many things to do, they only made love once.

Cuddled in Wen Renming’s arms, Ying Zhao felt the joy of being close to his lover. Wen Renming kissed the top of Ying Zhao’s head and softly asked:

“Yunping, what are you planning to do?”

Ying Zhao raised his head, blinked at Wen Renming, and smiled:

“If I handle this myself, it might be difficult, but I have you, a demon cultivator, by my side. I know your capabilities very well! Controlling a heart demon should be no problem, right?”

Wen Renming nodded and said:

“No problem. It might have been difficult in the past, but now that I have reached the Demon Emperor stage, I can fully command heart demons.”

Hearing this, Ying Zhao’s face lit up with a mischievous smile. He leaned in and whispered a few words into Wen Renming’s ear. Wen Renming listened, lowered his head slightly, and smiled.

Such a mischievous Yunping made him love him even more. Naturally, he had no objections to Ying Zhao’s request.

However, Ying Zhao suddenly remembered something and asked Wen Renming with some confusion:

“Why were you affected by the heart demons in the Heart Demon Domain when you, a demon cultivator, shouldn’t be affected?”

Wen Renming hesitated for a moment and replied uncertainly:

“I don’t know either. Normally, demon cultivators are not affected by heart demons. I had never been truly affected before. If anything, the greatest influence on me now is my obsession with you. Yunping, I can’t lose you. In the Heart Demon Domain, the worst thing for me was a voice saying you didn’t love me and didn’t want to be with me. I was afraid of losing you, so I almost went mad. Demon cultivators don’t suppress their desires, and the Heart Demon Domain amplifies one’s desires. I think my obsession with you and my anxiety made me lose myself…”

Ying Zhao pondered Wen Renming’s words but realized it wasn’t that simple. He knew that Wen Renming being affected by the Heart Demon Domain wasn’t just because of him.

Although his obsession played a significant role, it was mainly because Wen Renming’s soul was part of the Vermilion Bird.

As one of the Four Spirits, even as a demon cultivator, he couldn’t erase his inherent brightness. Mere heart demons couldn’t affect Wen Renming, even if it was just a fragment of his soul. He would have freed himself from the Heart Demon Domain eventually.

But Ying Zhao was too anxious and entered Wen Renming’s sea of consciousness hastily.

Still, Ying Zhao was glad he did, as it allowed him to learn many things he didn’t know and understand Wen Renming’s past sufferings, making him cherish Wen Renming even more.

It felt like fate had arranged it all. Thinking of this, Ying Zhao felt immensely grateful for having the chance to save his lover.

Ying Zhao cuddled up in Wen Renming’s arms, being affectionate for a while longer. Wen Renming hadn’t expected that after they became a couple, Ying Zhao would love being close to him so much.

This made Wen Renming feel even more secure, with his heart feeling blissfully soaked in sweetness every day.

Ying Zhao didn’t want to interact falsely with the people of Piaomiao Pavilion. During the days of preparing for the Daoist couple ceremony, he stayed in Wen Renming’s room.

They spent their time together intimately behind closed doors. Although Nan Zheng was somewhat suspicious, Wen Renming had publicly promised to share the “Qingyuan Jue” with Piaomiao Pavilion.

Moreover, Nan Zheng specifically called Ying Zhao to his room to ask about it. Ying Zhao told Nan Zheng he was staying with Wen Renming to prevent any mishaps during these days.

Nan Zheng thought it over and agreed, even praising Ying Zhao. He also promised that once they obtained the “Qingyuan Jue,” he would find a pretext to eliminate Wen Renming and let Ying Zhao take over Qingliu Sect.

Ying Zhao naturally showed a look of anticipation and gratitude upon hearing Nan Zheng’s words, which put Nan Zheng’s mind at ease. After all, people driven by greed are easier to control.

On the day of the Daoist couple ceremony, many prestigious sects arrived. This was because both Qingliu Sect and Piaomiao Pavilion held some reputation within the cultivation world.

Moreover, despite Nan Zheng’s modest cultivation level, he had a reputation for chivalry and righteousness. Furthermore, some masters of major sects who were well-informed had heard of Qingliu Sect’s “Qingyuan Jue.”

After Wen Renming casually mentioned a few details, their interest naturally heightened, eager to come here and witness it firsthand. While participating in the Daoist couple ceremony was secondary, their primary interest lay in this so-called ascension scripture.

The auspicious time arrived quickly. Wen Renming and Ying Zhao stood on the ceremonial platform dressed in exquisite robes, awaiting the moment to exchange vows.

Nan Zheng stood beside the platform, gazing at Wen Renming and Ying Zhao with a benevolent expression, as if genuinely happy for them.

Facing each other, Ying Zhao and Wen Renming recited their vows under the gaze of the crowd. Soon, a golden light enveloped the two, sealing their covenant.

From then on, their souls were intertwined, leaving an eternal imprint, allowing them to sense each other’s presence.

Wen Renming gripped Ying Zhao’s hand with excitement. Finally, they completely belonged to each other, no longer worrying about anyone taking Ying Zhao away from him.

They then descended from the platform to receive congratulations from the crowd. Just as they smiled and thanked those who came to congratulate them—

Suddenly, a disciple of Piaomiao Pavilion rushed over in a panic, shouting to everyone:

“Something’s wrong! The Scriptures Tower is on fire!”

Upon seeing his disciple in such a panicked state, Nan Zheng quickly reprimanded:

“If there is fire, there is fire. It’ll be extinguished. Is it necessary to make such a fuss?”

However, the disciple from Piaomiao Pavilion, trembling and with a teary voice, said to Nan Zheng:

“It’s not just fire… It’s on fire!”

“It’s not like that, Sect Master! This fire, he simply can’t extinguish it at all! The Scriptures Tower is already fully ablaze!”

Upon hearing this, Nan Zheng’s expression changed noticeably. After all, the Scriptures Tower housed many treasures, and he urgently wanted to inspect the situation.

Ying Zhao’s face immediately showed concern, and he loudly said to Nan Zheng, “Master, let’s quickly go to the Scriptures Tower and see for ourselves. After all, the tower contains our Piaomiao Pavilion’s secret techniques. If it’s all burnt down, what will we do?”

Without waiting for Nan Zheng’s response, Ying Zhao grabbed Wen Renming’s hand and hurried towards the direction of the Scriptures Pavilion.

The attendees of the Daoist couple ceremony, seeing Ying Zhao and Wen Renming leave and hearing about the uncontrollable fire, were also curious and followed them towards the Scriptures Tower.
