GRMFBS CH137

The Artisan: “…”

That’s a real possibility.

The Artisan: “Then should I change it to a cat-loving virtual personality?”

The Tie Lao Ghost King thought for a moment and felt that changing it to a cat-loving personality might not work either. Wanyan was a lunatic; who knew what aspect of the Linyuan Ghost King he liked—otherwise, the real Linyuan Ghost King would have changed long ago.

Maybe Wanyan just liked it when the Linyuan Ghost King ignored him.

The Tie Lao Ghost King proposed a new requirement:

“Can you install both virtual personalities? The kind you can switch between with one click?”

If he doesn’t like one, he can just switch to the other!

Zhan Suiru had never made a cat-adoring personality before, so she started searching for pet bloggers online.

She planned to carefully select a blogger who was great at raising cats. The goal was to make Wanyan fall so deeply in love with this cat-adoring personality upon experiencing it that he would never think of going out to cause trouble again.

After much searching, Zhan Suiru settled on one. This blogger was a professor of veterinary medicine who owned a Ragdoll and a British Shorthair. Their fur was glossy and smooth; one look was enough to tell they were well cared for.

A veterinary professor would definitely raise cats scientifically. He’s the one!

Zhan Suiru imported all of the blogger’s cat-related content into the doll, automatically generating a cat-loving personality.

Next, it was time for testing.

Zhan Suiru: “What do you think of cats?”

The “Linyuan” doll’s eyes lit up. “Kittens are the most adorable creatures in this world!”

Zhan Suiru: “What do you think of this cat teaser toy?”

The “Linyuan” doll: “It’s wonderful! The cats will definitely love it!”

Okay, no problem!

Zhan Suiru prepared to pack it up for shipping, but the “Linyuan” doll chattered on, “Are we only bringing this toy? That’s too plain. What about catnip? A ball of yarn? A feather wand? And also…”

Zhan Suiru poked its personality-switching button.

The “Linyuan” doll instantly became disdainful. “Why would you install such a superfluous thing on this seat? Remove it!”

“You dare to ignore this seat! Do you know who this seat is?”

Zhan Suiru ruthlessly stuffed it into the box.

So the Linyuan Ghost King’s personality is actually like this. I never would have thought.

Finally, one order down!

Zhan Suiru threw herself onto the sofa. “I’ve finished an order! Time for a break!”

The butler doll suggested that Zhan Suiru could play a game to relax during her break and thoughtfully prepared a screen projector, a game controller, as well as cushions, snacks, and drinks for her.

Enjoying the butler doll’s service, Zhan Suiru asked in surprise, “Why did you suddenly think of this?”

The butler doll gave a demure smile. “Since you are preparing to play a game, I suggest you live stream with Qi Ye.”

Zhan Suiru: “…Got it. Maximizing time efficiency, right?”

Completing a previous promise while taking a break.

So clever!

Who taught him that?!

[The Tie Lao Ghost King commissioned a toy from the Artisan to attract the attention of the Wanyan Ghost King. The Artisan made a large, life-like doll of the Linyuan Ghost King.]

Zhan Yan had been constantly refreshing gossip entries with keywords like “ability” and entries about the Artisan. He discovered that the Artisan had been extremely busy lately and was being constantly rushed by her own butler doll.

What kind of person would make themselves a foreman-type butler?

Zhan Yan was also very curious to see what Wanyan Ghost King’s reaction would be upon receiving the large, life-like doll of the Linyuan Ghost King.

These past few days, Wanyan had been clutching the black iron fish pendant, trying to figure out how the fish eyes on it were dotted.

Unable to figure it out, Wanyan the cat-man tried to cheat, pestering “Approaching Science” on the forum to just tell him the answer.

Zhan Yan refused.

Approaching Science: “You can’t remember it yourself. What if I make up a story to trick you?”

Wanyan sharpened his cat claws and, between “I trust you” and “Then forget it,” he chose “You wouldn’t dare.”

Wanyan: “I curse you! If you lie to me, may you forever miss the last bus!”

Zhan Yan thought that Wanyan the cat-man was quite familiar with human society to even know about the last bus.

But “Approaching Science” was completely unfazed and still wouldn’t tell Wanyan directly.

After completing his daily task of placating Wanyan, Zhan Yan typed the word “Apocalypse” into the search bar.

He had already confirmed from the gossip entries that the infinite fragment named “Apocalypse Fragment” came from the Artisan’s home world.

The deeper he investigated, the more Zhan Yan understood the terror of Infinity.

Infinity wasn’t just one world; it was a conglomerate of many small worlds. Zhan Yan felt immense pressure at the thought of such a terrifying thing wanting to revive itself.

The Gossip System always struggled when searching for terms related to “Infinity,” frequently displaying a [Loading…] message. To this day, he still had trouble finding any information on Doctor Demon.

But since Infinity was already destroyed, searching for “Apocalypse” shouldn’t result in another [Loading…] right?

The Gossip System began searching for “Apocalypse.”

[Loading…]

Zhan Yan: …

System, you’re so useless!

You have just slandered your own golden finger.

Zhan Yan noticed that this [Loading…] was a bit different: the ellipsis behind it was moving! It was transitioning from six dots to one dot, over and over.

Did this mean it was really loading? And that it would load soon?

If it loads today, I’ll admit that thinking ‘the Gossip System is so useless’ was slander.

Zhan Yan watched expectantly as the six dots kept changing. Five minutes later, he decided to give up and do something else.

An hour later, Zhan Yan checked the Gossip System again. The six dots were still changing.

Two hours later, “loading” was still “loading.”

After dinner, it still hadn’t finished loading.

By the time the lights were out for bed, Zhan Yan still hadn’t gotten to eat this piece of gossip.

Zhan Yan: …You are just useless!

Zhan Yan closed the Gossip System. Time for bed!

After Zhan Yan fell asleep, his breathing becoming slow and deep, Gu Jiancheng quietly got up, picked up the Pen of Diagnosis, and slowly moved it above Zhan Yan’s forehead.

Gently, don’t wake Zhan Yan…

Just as Gu Jiancheng’s hand moved over, he suddenly felt a jolt.

It was a spiritual tremor, a pull from the proximity of two worlds. Gu Jiancheng had experienced this feeling every time Infinity attempted to capture a new small world.

He lost his grip, and the Pen of Diagnosis poked heavily onto Zhan Yan’s forehead.

After sleeping for an unknown amount of time, Zhan Yan was suddenly startled awake from his dream.

He couldn’t remember what he had been dreaming about, only vaguely feeling a shake, and maybe a pull.

At the same time.

In a hot spring hotel, amidst the soft night lights, Ji Yueming and Zhan Yunkai opened their eyes simultaneously.

At home, Zhan Jinli was in a heated battle of wills with Xingxing, trying to outlast the cat’s bedtime. With cat food in one hand and a feather wand in the other, he was playing a game of chase when he suddenly stopped and turned to look out the window.

The Abnormal Affairs Management Bureau, the Wan Yao Alliance, Mount Chaofu, Withered Pine Stream… Great Dancer, Wood-Seeking Demon King, Minghe Ghost King, Granny Zu… one by one, the spirits sensitive to the changes in heaven and earth raised their heads in unison.

The Black Market. Zhan Suiru, who was working late, trembled and shot to her feet.

Xiaoran stood rigidly in place. The gears in his pupils stopped and started, a look of confused pain appearing in them.

Zhan Suiru leaped from her chair to Xiaoran’s side, roughly pulling open the collar of his tailcoat to reveal the necklace inside—the world fragment refined from the “Apocalypse Fragment.”

The fragment was now trembling lightly, like a piece of iron drawn to a magnet.

“Xiaoran…” Zhan Suiru realized her voice was hoarse.

Xiaoran remained frozen, his lips opening and closing until he found a word that shouldn’t belong to a doll: “Uncomfortable.”

He stiffly raised a hand and pressed it to his chest, the place where his ability core was hidden.

“Uncomfortable.”

“I know.” Zhan Suiru held him tightly. “I know. Our world… is approaching.”

Beiling Agricultural University.

Zhan Yan had been groggily shaken awake, and then he felt a sharp poke on his forehead.

Zhan Yan sat up abruptly.

Gu Jiancheng jerked his hand back.

The dorm room was pitch black. The sound of the metal bunk bed shaking was shockingly clear.

Zhan Yan sat for two seconds before his mind cleared. What just happened? Was that an earthquake?

The Gossip System slowly unfolded before his eyes.

No earthquake.

Zhan Yan let out a sigh of relief. Thank goodness. The shaking had only lasted a moment and then stopped.

Was I just half-asleep?

The previous “Apocalypse” gossip entry that was stuck on [Loading…] had now refreshed with new content.

[The Apocalypse world is currently approaching this world…]

[The Apocalypse world is currently approaching this world…]

[The Apocalypse world is currently approaching this world… Estimated to make contact with this world in three months to one year.]

Zhan Yan was now wide awake.

What does that mean? The Artisan’s Apocalypse world is going to make contact with their world? Does that mean the two worlds are going to merge? Will their world suddenly gain a new piece of land? That’s not very scientific from a geographical standpoint! Will the continental plates shift? Will it cause earthquakes? Or will something like a portal appear to connect the two worlds?

What will happen after they make contact? Will things from the Apocalypse world enter their world? Are the rules of the two worlds different? Are the physical laws of that world the same as theirs? Is the gravitational acceleration in that world also approximately 9.8? If not, will the gravitational acceleration of the two worlds change? How will it change? Will existing instruments still work? Will the physicists of this world go insane?

All sorts of chaotic thoughts raced through Zhan Yan’s mind, and he fiercely poked the Gossip System, hoping it would give him an explanation.

The Gossip System gave no reaction.

So Zhan Yan switched to a new gossip entry:

[Tianshi Ji Yueming was awakened by the gravitational tide of the approaching Apocalypse world. He quietly pressed the emergency button on his phone. The phone automatically called him, saying there was an urgent matter at the company. Ji Yueming used this as an excuse to tell Zhan Yunkai he needed to leave for a few days.]

[Chongming Demon King Zhan Yunkai was awakened by the gravitational tide of the approaching Apocalypse world. After driving Ji Yueming to the station, he urgently flew back to the Wan Yao Alliance.]

My parents both reacted. So my feeling just now wasn’t my imagination.]A jolt, and a sharp poke on the forehead. Is that what a gravitational tide feels like?

Zhan Yan carefully recalled the moment. He seemed to feel a jolt first, which woke him up. While he was still groggy, he felt a sharp poke on his forehead.

Zhan Yan rubbed his forehead and hissed softly. It actually hurt.

Can gravitational tides hit people? Why does the description in the other gossip entries seem different?

Zhan Yan opened the system backup and replayed the moment he woke up.

He opened his eyes to complete darkness.

Before his eyes could adjust, he saw a darker shadow flash above his head, and Gu Jiancheng’s bed next to him creaked…

Zhan Yan turned to look at the opposite bunk.
