Chapter 4: The Green Tea Schemer Baits for Headphones

Shi Xueqing was so creeped out by his stare that he thought he hadn’t done anything wrong, so he just smiled at him.

“That’s right, Brother Xing. I’m very good to you. Shouldn’t you reward me?”
He said it in the gentlest tone of his entire life.

Xing Jun suddenly stopped talking. Shi Xueqing figured he had probably grossed him out and got up to get a bottle of water.

When he returned, Xing Wei was still asking, “Brother, how did you figure out Xiao Shi was a wolf and then not save him?”

Xing Jun’s voice came through. “He doesn’t look honest.”

Shi Xueqing: …

He went back and got another bottle of a beverage, gently handed it to Xing Wei, and then sat back down in his spot. Facing Xing Jun’s sudden oppressive aura, he smiled and said, “Brother Xing, you’re crowding me.”

Xing Jun turned his head again. Being stared at by unfriendly eyes, Shi Xueqing shook the drink in his hand. “Brother Xing, do you want a drink too?”

“Yeah.”

The drink in his hand was snatched away.
Shi Xueqing: …Bro, you’re actually taking it?

Holding back his anger, he went back and got another drink. The bespectacled best friend sitting next to Xing Wei looked back and forth between the two of them, feeling that the atmosphere was quite strange.

Perhaps because he had died so tragically in the last round, a few classmates clamored to give Shi Xueqing “first-kill protection.” Someone else said, “Xiao Shi, maybe you’ll draw the real Seer this round.”

“I don’t like playing the Seer. The Seer dies fast,” Shi Xueqing said, and then flipped his card.

Whoops.
He really was the Seer.

He put the card down nonchalantly, and Xing Jun looked over again. Shi Xueqing smiled at him generously. “What, Brother Xing wants to analyze my expression again?”

Xing Jun raised an eyebrow but said nothing. Shi Xueqing thought to himself, I’ll check you first tonight.

It would be best to vote Xing Jun out in the first round to vent some of his anger.

But upon checking, Xing Jun turned out to be a good person. During the day, when Shi Xueqing ran for sheriff, he had to, in front of everyone, brace himself and announce the good person he had checked.

After the announcement, he added, “I think Brother Xing is an expert player, that’s why I checked him. If it were Brother Xing, he might have wanted to check me too.”

Absolutely no personal vendetta here.

After saying that, Shi Xueqing didn’t want to look at Xing Jun’s face anymore. It wasn’t until the vote for sheriff that he glanced over and was surprised to find that Xing Jun had voted for him.

Although Xing Jun didn’t even look at him, Shi Xueqing thought, at least you have eyes.

“Guardian, please protect me. I’ll probably only live through tonight. By tomorrow night… I should have been killed by then. I’ll use the sheriff’s badge to pass on information,” Shi Xueqing announced his badge succession plan, and then entered the second night.

The second night was, as expected, a peaceful night. Shi Xueqing thought he would probably die here. He gave his last words and closed his eyes, sinking into the third night.

He woke up.
“A peaceful night,” the moderator said.
Shi Xueqing: ??
Another peaceful night??

The fourth night, the fifth night, the sixth night—Shi Xueqing still hadn’t died. As a Seer, he was getting a bit numb to living, even starting to question the meaning of his existence.

On the sixth day, all the werewolves were voted out. The moderator announced victory for the humans. The werewolves were furious. “Guardian! Who the hell was the Guardian?”

She pointed at Shi Xueqing. “Do you know, we tried to kill you three times!”
Shi Xueqing: ??

“Me,” Xing Jun suddenly said from within the crowd.
He casually put his card back. A few werewolves were still agitated. “How did you know we were going to kill the Witch on the second night?”

“A guess. Who told you to try to be clever when killing?” he said, then suddenly looked at Shi Xueqing. “This time, I’ve repaid your ‘kindness,’ haven’t I?”

“…”

“As the Seer, living to the very end, doesn’t it feel pretty great?”

Shi Xueqing thought that with someone as competitive as Xing Jun, he would have protected any Seer. What was he trying to prove?
Although, including the Witch’s turn, Xing Jun as the Guardian had correctly protected someone four out of six nights. He really was quite calculating.

But verbally, he still smiled and said very placidly, “Brother Xing, you’re truly my guardian angel.”
He felt a little disgusted with himself after saying it.

“Even the way he talks is so ‘green tea’,” Xing Jun glanced at him, his expression a bit strange.
Shi Xueqing felt he saw disdain in his eyes and couldn’t be bothered to reply.

There was only time for one last game. This time, the group insisted the moderator join, and they even found an app for playing Werewolf. The bespectacled best friend said, “With one more person, should we change the setup?”

“Let’s add a Cupid!” Xing Wei said without thinking.
Cupid could link two players as a couple, making them share the same fate for the rest of the game. If the two linked players were one human and one wolf, they would have to kill everyone else to win.

Shi Xueqing thought to himself that he just wanted to play something simple, not this kind of thrilling combination. There had been enough excitement tonight.

Flipping his card and finding he was a normal villager, Shi Xueqing calmed down a little. It wasn’t until night fell and he opened his eyes at the app’s prompt that he was stunned to find he was in Cupid’s couple chain.
His partner was… Shi Xueqing looked around but didn’t see anyone with their eyes open.
His shoulder was suddenly bumped.
No, it can’t be.

Shi Xueqing awkwardly looked up and met Xing Jun’s staring gaze.
Which shameless person had linked him with Xing Jun!
Shi Xueqing gestured that he was a villager. After seeing Xing Jun’s gesture, Shi Xueqing despaired.
Xing Jun was a wolf.

A plain villager didn’t really have much to do. Shi Xueqing braced himself and muddled through the game. By the fourth day, someone suggested voting Shi Xueqing out.
“I’ve noticed Shi Xueqing hasn’t provided much information. He must be a wolf.”

There was nothing he could do. Shi Xueqing thought, if I die, I die. He didn’t expect that when it was Xing Jun’s turn to speak, he gave a clear and logical analysis, and in the end, pointed the finger directly at Xing Wei.
Wait? You’re selling out your sister again?

When it was Xing Wei’s turn to speak, she actually totally blew her cover. The crowd reached a consensus and voted her out. Shi Xueqing was dumbfounded, unable to believe the situation.
…And then, Shi Xueqing practically coasted to the end.

He watched as Xing Jun killed gods and wolves in his path, slaughtering the entire town. It wasn’t until the game ended and the app announced the couple’s victory that the crowd started shouting again.
“Damn couple!!”
“The couple must die!!”

Shi Xueqing still hadn’t processed it. He had just won by doing nothing?
“By the way, who was Cupid?” He didn’t look back at Xing Jun, who was looking at him again, but instead asked the crowd.
A hand went up. Xing Wei smiled slyly. “Me.”
“…Huh?”

“Otherwise, why do you think I would suddenly blow my cover and get voted out? It was to protect you two, of course,” Xing Wei said gleefully. “I linked this chain so well—Brother! You threw me under the bus without any hesitation!”
“What choice did I have? With Shi Xueqing talking like that, besides you, who else could take the blame for him?” Xing Jun said with disgust.
Shi Xueqing: …
He had won, but he was so angry.

Xing Jun caught a glimpse of his displeased face and curled his lips into a small smile.
Xing Wei was still giggling about “choosing a pretty face over your sister.” Xing Jun looked at Shi Xueqing’s back again. Shi Xueqing had gone out to the balcony, doing something.

He first thought of how clumsy Shi Xueqing had been while being dragged along by him in the game and couldn’t help but smile. Then he became alert again. What is Shi Xueqing trying to do?

Sure enough, as everyone was packing up, Shi Xueqing stopped Xing Wei.
On the balcony, he smiled at Xing Wei, his aura artistic and distant. “What were you thinking just now… linking me and your brother together.”

“Hahaha, it was actually because of Xiao Tao. Xiao Tao told me that she felt the atmosphere between you two was strange, and she even told me to be careful you two didn’t get into a fight,” Xing Wei laughed.
Xiao Tao was Xing Wei’s bespectacled best friend.

“Even though it was with your brother… I’m very happy that you linked me,” Shi Xueqing said, handing the scented candle to Xing Wei. “Your gift. I wanted to give it to you alone.”

“You actually brought a gift? Is there something carved on the candle?”

“The sheet music for ‘Für Elise’…”

Xing Jun stood inside, watching the scene on the balcony, his expression gradually turning grim.

The thrill of winning the game completely vanished. Watching the scene before him, his teeth itched.

“This is so thoughtful of you… By the way,” he heard Xing Wei say, “When is your birthday? I have to give you a gift in return.”

“March.”

“Pisces? That’s a bit far away… How about this? Is there anything you want? I can just get it for you.”

“Oh, no need… Well, how about headphones? I like listening to classical music.”

“Headphones… You probably already have AirPods Max. Oh, right, I heard the B&O H95 are good. I’ll get you those in return… Xiao Tao? I’m coming.”

Xing Wei went back inside from the balcony. After she left, Xing Jun pretended to casually walk up behind Shi Xueqing.
He looked down, and felt a vein pop on his forehead.

Shi Xueqing was online searching for the prices of AirPods Max and B&O H95. And upon seeing that the H95 cost $800, Shi Xueqing’s eyes visibly widened.
Xing Jun: …

He had actually smiled at him just a moment ago. Xing Jun looked at this green tea gold-digging man and felt he had never been so disgusted with a person in his life.

Just as Shi Xueqing nonchalantly put his phone away, he found Xing Jun looking at him. He was so startled that he almost bumped into the balcony railing.

“Xing… Brother Xing,” he said. “What are you doing here?”

Xing Jun didn’t speak. Shi Xueqing didn’t really want to talk to him either. Just as he was about to lower his head and brush past him, he heard Xing Jun say, “Shi Xueqing, behave yourself.”

“…”

“I know exactly what you’re thinking.”

The anger that had been simmering all night was about to boil over. Shi Xueqing lifted his indignant face, and just as he was about to speak, he heard someone inside say, “Oh my god, Xing Wei, your brother is so amazing.”

“Silicon Valley’s new money? He was on ‘People’ magazine last year?”

“The internet says your brother’s net worth… is this much?”

Xing Jun had been full of gloomy fire, but he didn’t expect to see the “green tea” actually change his expression towards him. It was the first time he had seen Shi Xueqing angry, and the expression was quite vivid.

At least it was better than the fake expression he had been putting on on the balcony just now.

Just as a thought stirred in Xing Jun’s mind, he saw Shi Xueqing nonchalantly put his expression away again, back to his refined and elegant look.

“Brother Xing, thank you for taking care of me during the game today,” he said. “You’re really good at Werewolf.”

Xing Jun: …

Shi Xueqing smiled at him and walked past. Xing Jun stood by the balcony, watching Shi Xueqing’s retreating back, thinking how much this person deserved…

“Xiao Shi, can you help pick up that bottle? It fell under the sofa,” someone said.

Shi Xueqing said okay and bent down to pick it up. The bottle had rolled quite far under. He stretched out his arm, having to arch his back and stick out his butt.

His shirt slipped out from his waistband, and a sliver of his thin waist was dazzlingly white under the lights.

The curve of his hips was well-rounded.

Begging to be fucked.

Xing Jun thought, his arms crossed, his thoughts vicious.
