As finals approached, seats in the library became hot commodities. Even if a seat was empty, books were often laid out to reserve it.
Xie Yuanxing and his friends were considered early birds, but it still took them a long time to find two unreserved seats.
Their luck was decent, but the problem was, there were three of them.
Xie Yuanxing looked at Shen Bianye, wanting to speak but hesitating. He was about to say, “Didn’t you never come to the library before? Maybe you should go back first.”
The words were already formulated in his mind when he saw Shen Bianye expressionlessly sweep the books from the nearby table to one side, saying coldly, “There are seats now, sit.”
He knew Xie Yuanxing would try to send him away, not Lin Xiuming.
But even with Xie Yuanxing about to speak to him, Shen Bianye’s anger still flared.
Since it wasn’t what he wanted to hear, he might as well block it.
Annoying.
This Omega, appearing out of nowhere, like a shriveled monkey, with a foul, rotten banana pheromone scent.
He didn’t want to follow Xie Yuanxing, but with Lin Xiuming around, he needed to make sure Xie Yuanxing kept his distance from this person.
Xie Yuanxing smiled at Lin Xiuming, “Then let’s sit here.”
Lin Xiuming: “Okay.”
Smile my ass.
What’s so good about smiling at him?
Shen Bianye directly pulled out the middle chair and sat down, firmly blocking Xie Yuanxing and Lin Xiuming from each other.
Xie Yuanxing: …
His expression was clearly complex. Shen Bianye snorted coldly, “You’re a freshman, he’s a sophomore, and your majors are different. Don’t tell me you two have anything to discuss by studying together.”
Xie Yuanxing shook his head and silently sat down in the aisle seat.
During his six years at his aunt and uncle’s house, he had developed the ability to quickly immerse himself and focus on one task in any situation. He sat down and quickly began solving problems.
The tip of his ballpoint pen made a soft scratching sound on the book. Shen Bianye’s stylus for his tablet flipped endlessly between his long, well-defined fingers.
He looked at Lin Xiuming on his right and asked, “How did you know Xie Yuanxing was at A University of Science and Technology, and how did you find him?”
To be honest, A University of Science and Technology was quite large with many students. Two people from different majors and different years might not even discover each other until graduation.
It couldn’t just be fate, right?
Heh, what fate.
Lin Xiuming: “I saw pictures of Xingxing playing the piano on stage in the school forum. Many people liked him when he played piano on stage as a child, and he’s still beautiful playing it now that he’s grown up.”
Shen Bianye said stiffly, “You don’t need to praise him.”
Damn, it was a stage performance.
And he was the one who orchestrated it.
He became a matchmaker?
When Xie Yuanxing and Lin Xiuming started going out together, would he have to wear that crappy ceremonial uniform from the school’s etiquette team to welcome them?
Shen Bianye cursed silently, incredibly annoyed.
He was actually quite happy for Xie Yuanxing to make friends, but what did this Omega mean by letting Xie Yuanxing touch his stomach and his gland?
So what if he’s a childhood Omega friend? How could Xie Yuanxing just casually touch a shriveled monkey’s gland?
Damn, childhood friend.
The words echoed in his mind with a vicious undertone. Just the thought of these two growing up together made Shen Bianye utterly displeased.
Not to mention, this monkey even praised Xie Yuanxing for being “beautiful.” So what if he’s beautiful? Doesn’t he know Xie Yuanxing has a boyfriend?!
Lin Xiuming: “Not praising, just stating facts.”
The veins on Shen Bianye’s hand holding the pen bulged for a moment, and he said coldly, “If you’re so good at talking, why don’t you go do crosstalk?”
Lin Xiuming was rebuffed several times, his face filled with bewilderment.
He knew Shen Bianye—or rather, almost no one in the entire school didn’t know Shen Bianye, so Lin Xiuming didn’t want to offend him.
But now, he was genuinely perplexed.
His confusion was so great that he couldn’t help but ask, “Are you upset to see Xingxing doing well, or are you jealous?” If it was jealousy, he wanted to say that he wasn’t actually a threat, and this scolding was very unfair to him.
Shen Bianye sneered, unsure if he was angry or mortified: “Me, jealous of a Beta?”
“I don’t care about Xie Yuanxing, I just genuinely can’t stand you.”
It was just the possessiveness caused by his pheromones that made him not want to see Xie Yuanxing touch other people’s glands.
It was like a child with a toy who didn’t want anyone else to touch it.
This! Is! Not! Jea-! Lou-! Sy!
Shen Bianye added, “And doesn’t Xie Yuanxing have a boyfriend?”
Lin Xiuming: “No one asked if Xingxing has a boyfriend. I just feel like your opinions about me are all related to Xingxing.”
Shen Bianye said coldly, “I want to say, is that not allowed?”
Beside them, Xie Yuanxing’s hand paused several times while doing problems, then resumed. Finally, he couldn’t help but turn his head and look at the two of them: “Are you still studying?”
“The library isn’t a place for talking. Can you please be quiet?”
Shen Bianye’s brow raised slightly, revealing a hint of a playful, almost mocking smile, “Understood, Teacher Xingxing.”
Xie Yuanxing: ………
He lowered his gaze, hypnotizing himself that the blank space in front of him was Shen Bianye’s face, and fiercely drew a multiplication sign, pretending it was a big cross.
After a short period of quiet, a student walked over and put a hand on the book next to Xie Yuanxing’s. “Excuse me, classmate, I think this seat is reserved.”
Shen Bianye looked up, “Don’t you know you can’t reserve seats in the library?”
The person wanted to argue but, seeing who it was, changed his words.
“Sorry, I’ll leave now.”
He had many books, all pushed aside by Shen Bianye. As he gathered his books, his hand brushed past Xie Yuanxing’s several times.
Shen Bianye pulled Xie Yuanxing’s hand, which was on the table, away, and looked at the person, a hint of displeasure in his eyes: “You’re pressing his clothes. When you’re packing up, why are you leaning on other people’s hands?”
It was a very slight touch, Xie Yuanxing himself hadn’t noticed, but Shen Bianye spoke first.
Xie Yuanxing looked at the hand reaching for his wrist and quietly moved away.
Shen Bianye frowned: “That person leaned on you just now, and you didn’t dodge. Now you’re quick to dodge.”
Xie Yuanxing wanted to say something. He looked up at Shen Bianye and saw his tightly furrowed brows and the uncontrollable irritation in his eyes.
His eyes flickered, he looked at Shen Bianye, thought for a moment, and stood up, saying, “I’m going to the restroom.”
“You come with me.”
Shen Bianye: “How old are you that you need someone to accompany you to the restroom?”
He scoffed, “Do you need to hold hands too?”
He said that, but he was already standing up, “Let’s go.”
Xie Yuanxing: …
He said he was going to the restroom, but Xie Yuanxing stopped in an empty corner. He pulled Shen Bianye’s sleeve, turned his head, and peeled off the scent blocker on the back of his neck, “You bite.”
That area on the back of his neck still bore teeth marks, the edges red, surrounded by purplish, bruised flower-like patterns from what looked like heavy sucking kisses. It was a miserable sight of vibrant red and purple.
Shen Bianye’s Adam’s apple bobbed. It seemed his throat felt dry too. He stared intently but didn’t approach.
“What, you want me to bite you?”
Xie Yuanxing wasn’t an Omega; being bitten on the back of the neck would only hurt. If he could, of course, he wouldn’t want to be bitten. But he felt…
“No, your condition doesn’t seem very good.”
Shen Bianye raised an eyebrow, his thin lips slightly upturned: “Concerned about me?”
Xie Yuanxing shook his head and said honestly, “Not really, but you being next to me like this really disturbs my studying.”
Heh.
Shen Bianye sneered, reaching out and pinching the back of Xie Yuanxing’s neck, like pinching a cat. Xie Yuanxing gasped, flinching from the pain.
“Wait until your wound heals,” Shen Bianye paused, then said lightly, “You don’t need to worry about my condition.”
“Worry more about yourself.”
Xie Yuanxing was used to such words, they went in one ear and out the other. He looked at Shen Bianye with hesitation, but still said, “Bite me. You’ve rarely bitten me lately.”
The number of times he bit him was decreasing, and the time between bites was increasing.
The alarming number of empty suppressant syringes in the dorm trash can, Dr. Li’s words, and Shen Bianye’s current state all made Xie Yuanxing worried that something would happen if this continued.
After all, he had taken the money.
Shen Bianye’s thumb rested on the back of Xie Yuanxing’s neck. Just a light rub made Xie Yuanxing shiver, “Shaking so much, if you’re so scared, why come closer?”
Xie Yuanxing lowered his gaze, his thick, curled eyelashes trembling, “I didn’t want to, but you gave too much money.”
Shen Bianye chuckled, “You quibble when it comes to me, but that Lin Xiuming, who held a grudge for years over one thing you said as a child, is petty as a needle, yet you don’t hold a grudge and even call him ‘Ge’ (brother).”
Xie Yuanxing tightly pursed his lips, the edges of his lips turning white from the pressure, “That’s not it.”
“He just chose to talk about insignificant things. I actually,” he paused, and softly said, “hit him too.”
Shen Bianye was surprised, and instinctively said, “So you were violent even as a child.”
That strange “so you were” made both of them fall silent for a moment. Xie Yuanxing was a little annoyed, “Why are you talking around the subject? Are you going to bite or not?”
Shen Bianye: “The wound on your neck just scabbed over. If I bite it, you’ll bleed again.”
He paused, and said, “I don’t care if you bleed or not, but every time you hurt badly, it tastes bitter.”
Shen Bianye said mournfully, in a seemingly proper manner, “Nasty.”
Xie Yuanxing couldn’t taste himself, so he couldn’t judge the truth. He hesitated, then said:
“You said I’m a Beta, and that my neck actually has no gland, so it’s the same for you wherever you bite.”
He thought for a moment, then asked, “Do you want to bite somewhere else?”
Originally, he didn’t want to say these things. Shen Bianye had to endure with suppressants, and it was certainly better for Xie Yuanxing not to be bitten.
But when an insignificant stranger accidentally touched his sleeve and hand, Shen Bianye couldn’t stand it, which was a bit too abnormal.
Shen Bianye’s refusal seemed to clump together in his throat, blocking his words.
His Adam’s apple bobbed as he swallowed, and when he spoke, his voice was startlingly hoarse, “Somewhere else?”
“Shoulder, how about that?”
“Right shoulder.”
Xie Yuanxing hesitated, “That’s a wound…”
Shen Bianye’s voice was hoarse, almost tenderly coaxing, “I’ll be gentle, very gentle, okay?”
Xie Yuanxing’s eyes flickered a few times, but he still hesitated and nodded, “Okay.”
The two agreed and walked out one after another. At the intersection, one went left, and the other went right.
Shen Bianye frowned: “Not going back to the dorm? What are you doing going back to the library?”
Xie Yuanxing “Ah’d,” “It’s still early, right? I’ll go back when it’s time for lunch.”
“Are you in a hurry?”
Shen Bianye enunciated each word slowly, as if squeezing out the sound, emphatically saying, “I’m-not-in-a-hurry.”
His pheromones were in a hurry, not him.
But if he said that, it would only make Xie Yuanxing think he was in a hurry.
Heh, absolutely not.
The two returned to their seats in the library. Shen Bianye sat down heavily, his stylus pressing on the tablet with such force it almost pierced the screen.
Lin Xiuming: “Xingxing, let’s have lunch outside school later. My treat.”
“There’s a new Thai restaurant that just opened. It’s sweet and sour, you should like it.”
Shen Bianye coldly refused: “No.”
Lin Xiuming: “I asked Xingxing.”
Shen Bianye: “It’s him. No, he has something on at lunch.”
Going out to eat, with travel time and waiting in line, who knew how long it would take.
If he went out, what if he wanted to hang out for a while after eating?
Xie Yuanxing opened his mouth: “Actually, we could reschedule…”
He didn’t finish his sentence before Shen Bianye’s voice interjected, “Can’t reschedule, it’s urgent.”
So what if he got beaten by Xie Yuanxing? That was ancient history.
Why should he still accommodate him now?
So he hit him, what’s the big deal? He apologized, right?
He had taken a hit from Xie Yuanxing, and Xie Yuanxing hadn’t even apologized, so why should he always be put last in everything?
He wasn’t really in a hurry, he was just upset, very upset.
The young master was always held high by everyone, placed at the very front. But with Xie Yuanxing, he was worse than a shriveled monkey.
Xie Yuanxing’s delicate brows furrowed slightly, and he murmured, “Didn’t you say you weren’t in a hurry?”
Shen Bianye’s face was grim, “Now I am. Dying of urgency.”
One was five million, the other a friend he hadn’t seen in years. Although Xie Yuanxing wasn’t a corporate slave, he had several experiences with part-time jobs.
So he very calmly chose to ditch Lin Xiuming.
Xie Yuanxing: “Then let’s go another time, or we can go for dinner tonight.”
Lin Xiuming’s gaze moved back and forth between the two of them, and he smiled and nodded, “Okay.”
Shen Bianye beside him also smiled, a cold smile.
If Xie Yuanxing could go out and have a meal with Lin Xiuming, he’d take Xie Yuanxing’s surname.
The entire morning was spent in the library. When they returned to the dorm, High Uncle had already placed the food he brought on the table.
High Uncle had a key to their dorm, given by Shen Bianye, to avoid situations where High Uncle couldn’t find Xie Yuanxing when he wasn’t there and couldn’t deliver the food on time.
Xie Yuanxing put down his backpack and sat on the chair. Shen Bianye went to find the air conditioner remote and turned it on. He raised the temperature by two degrees, so Xie Yuanxing wouldn’t be cold when he undressed later.
Naked. Just the thought of the smooth back he’d once seen made Shen Bianye’s throat dry.
He grabbed two suppressants from the drawer, went to the bathroom, and injected them into his arm. As the liquid was pushed in, the empty syringes were tossed into the trash can. Only then did Shen Bianye walk out, seemingly calm.
Recently, Xie Yuanxing had been letting him release his pheromones, and he complied, but too much wasn’t good; Xie Yuanxing would choke and cry.
What Shen Bianye feared more was that he would have some inappropriate reactions.
Xie Yuanxing was sitting in front of his bed, a position with his back to the rest of the dorm, so he didn’t see what Shen Bianye did. He was intently eating his meal.
Today’s dishes were very homestyle: small yellow croaker and roasted chicken. The chicken drumsticks were tender and flavorful, and the mapo tofu was very appetizing with rice. Xie Yuanxing ate seriously, his movements slow.
Shen Bianye watched, his frown deepening. He reached for his water bottle on his table, twisted it open, and gulped down a few mouthfuls. He held back, then still said, “Eat faster.”
Xie Yuanxing: ……
Shen Bianye walked over to him, looking at the almost empty plate, “Still eating? Weren’t you full this morning?”
Xie Yuanxing pursed his lips, reluctantly glanced at the last bit of mapo tofu, and put down his chopsticks.
There was no rice to go with it, and eating it plain was a bit salty.
Shen Bianye swiftly cleared the table for him, lifted his chin slightly, and said, “Take it off.”
Xie Yuanxing: “…Don’t say it like that, it’s strange.”
Shen Bianye was about to be driven crazy by his sluggishness and frowned: “If you don’t take it off, how am I supposed to bite? Alphas have fangs, not scissors.”
Xie Yuanxing reached out to unbutton his shirt. With each button he opened, Shen Bianye’s gaze followed downward, burning, as if it had tangible heat.
“Too slow, I’ll do it.” His voice was low and hoarse. He stepped forward.
Startled, Xie Yuanxing quickly unbuttoned the last two buttons and took off his outer coat.
Under the coat was just a high-neck sweater. Xie Yuanxing clutched the hem of his sweater, reluctant to lift it. “Or… maybe just bite my neck.”
Shen Bianye took a step forward, “No backing out.”
He lowered his gaze, looking at Xie Yuanxing’s slender hands clutching the hem of his sweater, and said in a low voice, “You promised, Xie Yuanxing.”
He didn’t just say it, he also reached out, half-holding Xie Yuanxing’s hand, his voice even hoarser, “Is there no shirt underneath?”
Xie Yuanxing “Mm’d,” and tightened his grip on his clothes.
Actually, he was a Beta, and a man. There was nothing to it if he took off his upper body clothes. On summer basketball courts and in gyms, there were plenty of people playing and exercising shirtless.
Xie Yuanxing didn’t want to be so hesitant, but Shen Bianye’s gaze was hot and burning, as if it wanted to penetrate through the tight sweater to see the flesh and skin underneath.
Under such a gaze, Xie Yuanxing felt an unbidden sense of timidity.
He didn’t move, but someone else moved for him.
Shen Bianye forcefully held Xie Yuanxing’s hand, guiding him, gradually lifting it, as if opening an exquisite gift, even unwrapping the outer packaging with meticulous care.
The dorm’s air conditioner was set to a high temperature, blowing warm air, but after just taking off his clothes, Xie Yuanxing still instinctively shivered.
“Don’t move.” A hand gripped his shoulder, the palm scalding hot, as if it would burn through the thin skin to the flesh beneath.
It made Xie Yuanxing feel even hotter than the air conditioner’s temperature.
Xie Yuanxing: “Do you want to bite from the front or the back?”
Shen Bianye was facing him, which made him very uncomfortable. If he could, he hoped Shen Bianye would choose the back.
“The back,” Shen Bianye said.
Hearing this, Xie Yuanxing breathed a sigh of relief. Just as he was about to turn around, the hand on his shoulder pressed down firmly, with an irresistible force.
?
What’s wrong?
Shen Bianye lowered his gaze. The shoulder under his palm was round and smooth. He could feel every slight tremor from Xie Yuanxing.
What made him unable to look away was the slight rise and fall of Xie Yuanxing’s chest as he exhaled in relief.
If he changed his mind now and said he wanted to bite there…
The indecent thought had just surfaced when he heard Xie Yuanxing’s calm voice ask, “What are you looking at?”
Shen Bianye’s Adam’s apple bobbed, “Nothing.”
“Nothing to see, just average.”
With that, he released his hand, allowing Xie Yuanxing to turn around. His eyes, fixed on Xie Yuanxing’s back, were murky and dark.
He had touched it. The smooth, tender sensation seemed to linger on his fingertips. Shen Bianye subconsciously rubbed his thumb and forefinger together, silently licking his lips.
Damn, how could it be so tender?
And pink, perky and alluringly inviting.
A Beta, and a male, why would he have something so pink, so tenderly pink, like a blush on porcelain white snow, standing out even more, looking…
He wanted to taste it, to see if it was as delicious as it looked.
So beautiful, making him want to hold it in his mouth and suck on it.
But Shen Bianye also knew that Xie Yuanxing would absolutely never agree to there. It was better not to say anything.
But it didn’t matter, he had other places to bite.
Only… Shen Bianye couldn’t help but wonder again, if X coaxed him and praised him, would Xie Yuanxing offer it up and beg X to take a bite?
He lightly tutted, looking at the lean shoulder and neck exposed before him, and thought:
So what if he likes X?
He was the first to see it, the first to touch it, the first to bite it.
Shen Bianye reached out and gently touched Xie Yuanxing’s right shoulder.
The uneven, vivid red scar left by a burn was like an exploding flame with a circular center, occupying a palm-sized area on his smooth, fair shoulder and back. The interplay of red and white was startlingly beautiful.
So beautiful, baby.
Xie Yuanxing’s body suddenly trembled, and he said shakily, “You… didn’t you say you’d bite?”
Shen Bianye’s voice, however, was indistinct and sticky, as if he were speaking while eating syrup, “I’m going to bite you, baby. Didn’t I say gently? If I lick it soft, it won’t hurt when I bite.”
He uttered deceptive nonsense without batting an eye, licking and biting the circular scar left by the cigarette burn.
His tongue licked it over and over, leaving wet traces like the body fluid left by a hot snake crawling. He didn’t just lick, he also gently gnawed with his teeth. It was less a lick-kiss and more a sucking bite.
That small scar was sucked and kissed until it was red and hot. Xie Yuanxing’s body became so soft he could barely stand, desperately bracing himself for the coming pain.
But he waited and waited, and the biting pain never came, only an itch so sticky it felt like it would pull him into a swamp.
The dull and pitiful Beta finally realized he had been tricked. He instinctively tried to move forward and away, “If you’re not going to bite, then let go.”
Xie Yuanxing had just pulled away a little when, the next second, he was grabbed by the waist and pulled back, colliding heavily with a solid, hot chest.
“You!” Xie Yuanxing spun around abruptly, his eyes flushed red with surprise and anger.
He had been poked, clearly, unmistakably.
He grabbed his clothes, his ears burning, furious enough to curse, but all the words caught in his throat under Shen Bianye’s hot and murky gaze, and he fled in disarray.
The scent of burnt embers in the dorm was astonishingly strong. A struggle flashed in Shen Bianye’s eyes, then he simply sat down, giving up completely.
“Baby, put on your clothes, turn on the dorm’s warm light, don’t get cold.”
His voice drowned out the sound of a zipper being pulled down. The person he called only heard that one sentence.
From outside on the balcony, angry sounds came from the bathroom, “Mind your own business!”
Shen Bianye’s voice was heavy and slow, magnetically hoarse: “And stay in there for a while, don’t come out yet.”
The previously furious bathroom suddenly fell silent, not a sound. Shen Bianye chuckled to himself.
Shrinking in the bathroom, Xie Yuanxing looked at the two empty suppressant syringes that had appeared in the previously empty trash can. He slammed the glass door in impotent rage, as if to retaliate.
