GBROTAH CH12
The bell rang, signaling the end of class. Gao Yufei called out to Xie Yuanxing, “Want to go to the cafeteria together?
He had just finished presenting their group assignment in class, and the teacher had given them a high score. Gao Yufei was in a cheerful mood. To be honest, he hadn’t contributed much to the assignment; he’d just found some information and presented it. Most of the research was done by another person, the PPT was also made by them, and Xie Yuanxing handled the most demanding task: data analysis.
Another group member, Fang Zhi, also chimed in, “Let’s go, let’s go together.”
Xie Yuanxing paused, “You guys…”
Gao Yufei slung an arm over his shoulder, chuckling, “Oh, come on, what’s with the ‘you guys’? Let’s go!”
Fearing his knee would hit the table leg, Xie Yuanxing reluctantly took a couple of steps forward, then moved to the side, taking Gao Yufei’s hand off him.
“Alright, let’s go.”
Fang Zhi’s personality was more composed, and he noticed Xie Yuanxing disliked physical contact, so he subtly walked between the two of them. Gao Yufei didn’t notice, and as they walked, he said, “Two more advanced math classes this afternoon, I’m going to be numb.”
“Let’s eat something good later to make up for it, an early treat for ourselves.”
Fang Zhi: “Then let’s order a steamed pig’s brain for lunch.”
Gao Yufei turned his head, slung an arm over Fang Zhi’s shoulder, pulled him closer, and feigned anger, “Damn! Who are you scolding?”
The two of them laughed, while Xie Yuanxing quietly watched from the side. Fang Zhi chuckled twice, then looked at Xie Yuanxing, “What do you want to eat for lunch, Xingxing?”
Xie Yuanxing’s steps faltered, and his expression subtly changed.
“Sorry, you can just call me Xie Yuanxing.”
Fang Zhi was startled, and Gao Yufei also turned around. Sensing the awkward atmosphere, Xie Yuanxing thought for a moment and said seriously, “Yuan Yuan is also fine.”
When he said “Yuan Yuan is also fine” with such a serious expression, it made Fang Zhi laugh a little. He smiled gently, “Yuan Yuan sounds a bit strange. I’ll just call you Xiao Yuan, alright?”
“Is that okay?”
Xie Yuanxing pursed his lips and nodded.
Seeing the atmosphere relax, Gao Yufei breathed a sigh of relief and quickly ushered the two of them into the cafeteria.
The cafeteria was crowded, and the large fans on both sides whirred, but it was still hot. Xie Yuanxing’s long-sleeved jacket piqued Fang Zhi’s curiosity.
“Xiao Yuan, it’s only October, aren’t you hot wearing so much?”
Xie Yuanxing shook his head, “My constitution is poor, I’m afraid of cold, not heat.”
“What does he wear, hot or cold, have to do with you? Calling someone Xiao Yuan, you’re quite nosy.”
A cold laugh came from behind, and then a hand appeared on Xie Yuanxing’s shoulder. Shen Bianye pressed down on him, gritting his teeth, “Xie Yuanxing, you’re getting ahead of yourself, making friends and not even waiting for me to eat.” For the past few days, he had been going directly to Xie Yuanxing’s classroom and then taking him to eat. Today, he found the classroom empty.
Before Xie Yuanxing could speak, Gao Yufei stammered, “Shen… Senior, hello.”
Shen Bianye raised an eyebrow, “You know me?” His lips curved slightly, and his eyes hinted at a hint of playfulness.
“Did Xie Yuanxing tell you?”
Gao Yufei, being a bit thick-skinned, scratched his head at the question.
“No, there are many photos of you, Senior, on the school forum.” Ever since Shen Bianye had cursed away those who constantly flirted with him in his freshman year, most people dared not approach him. Most of those photos were candid shots. Gao Yufei belatedly realized that it might not be good for Shen Bianye to know that so many people had secretly taken pictures of him and posted them on the forum. He nervously looked up and indeed found Shen Bianye’s face had darkened.
Shen Bianye’s desire to talk to this person immediately faded. He perfunctorily acknowledged him and turned back to Xie Yuanxing, snarling, “Try not waiting for me again next time?”
Xie Yuanxing took a mouthful of rice and mumbled a muffled “Oh.” He didn’t remind this person that they hadn’t actually made a pact to eat together; it was just that he was always the last to leave the classroom after class, which was how Shen Bianye always caught him.
“Forget it,” Shen Bianye squeezed the soft flesh on Xie Yuanxing’s arm, frowning.
“Starting tomorrow, you don’t have to come to the cafeteria anymore.”
Xie Yuanxing looked up blankly, “Huh?” As he spoke, he didn’t forget to move to the side, trying to avoid Shen Bianye’s hand, but Shen Bianye wasn’t Gao Yufei; he couldn’t be avoided that easily.
Shen Bianye: “Why are you dodging? I won’t eat you.” “You’re not an Omega, can’t even be touched? So delicate.”
Xie Yuanxing ignored him. He tutted and then said, “I’ve hired a nutritionist for you. They’ll plan your three meals a day based on your last physical examination results.”
“Your meals will be delivered directly to your dorm. You’ll eat in your dorm from now on.”
“Holy cow.” Gao Yufei, standing nearby, was stunned. Fang Zhi was also taken aback.
Gao Yufei blurted out, “Xiao Yuan, you said you wanted to switch dorms with me. Damn it, Senior Shen is so good, what’s the difference between having him in your dorm and having a sugar daddy?”
For some reason, Xie Yuanxing felt a bit guilty at this moment and called out his name, “Gao Yufei.”
Shen Bianye’s eyes went cold.
“When did he tell you about switching dorms?”
Gao Yufei looked at his cold face, feeling inexplicably intimidated, and subconsciously said, “A few days ago, it wasn’t long ago.”
The atmosphere became strangely stagnant.
Shen Bianye smiled, his distinctively jointed hand gripping Xie Yuanxing’s nape.
“Still want to switch dorms? To where?”
“You don’t let the AC on when you’re cold or hot, you glare at people if they accidentally touch you, and you wear headphones while playing games but still complain about the screen being too bright.”
“So demanding and petty, who are you going to bother next?”
“Or do you want to go and get some inferior soaps again, to lure people in?”
Xie Yuanxing put down his chopsticks, picked up his tray, and stood up.
“I’ve finished eating, you guys chat.”
Shen Bianye watched him leave with a darkened face, his eyes annoyed, brows deeply furrowed, and a hint of unspeakable irritation.
Xie Yuanxing didn’t return to his dorm. After leaving the cafeteria, he went straight to the library. His phone buzzed on the table. He opened it and found a message from Fang Zhi.
Fang Zhi: “Xiao Yuan, Gao Yufei is too embarrassed to ask you directly, so he asked me if he said something wrong.”
Xie Yuanxing: “No, don’t overthink it.”
He put his phone aside, ignoring whether Fang Zhi said anything else afterward. After quietly staring blankly in the library for two minutes, Xie Yuanxing then pulled out his practice book from his bag and started working on it. His expression was calm, focused, and serious, as if Shen Bianye’s words had left no ripples in his heart.
However, after his afternoon classes, Xie Yuanxing went to the library again, reluctant to return to his dorm. Given Shen Bianye’s personality, he would undoubtedly drag him into endless conversations. Xie Yuanxing disliked arguments and lingered, wanting to postpone returning for as long as possible.
The entire library building was brightly lit, and outside, the sky was as black as ink.
A post titled “Gossip! A-University理工Software Engineering Freshman Only Got Into A-University理工for the Diploma, Suspected of Being Kept” quickly went viral at an abnormal speed.
In the dim atmosphere of the bar, with flickering lights, a slender Beta’s wrist was grabbed. His body leaned forward, looking as if he was actively approaching. In the second photo, the Beta, wearing a fitted vest, was half-kneeling. His waist was outlined by the vest, a flexible segment, and below, due to the kneeling posture, his buttocks appeared exceptionally perky. He was half-kneeling in front of someone whose face was obscured, only a pair of long, straight legs visible, and a pair of limited-edition sneakers at the Beta’s eye level. In the third photo, the Beta was getting out of a Maybach.
The post’s popularity soared under the manipulation of paid commenters. Many people followed suit, and malicious comments were sent out by seemingly neutral “onlookers” (who were actually paid commenters), appearing before everyone.
“I heard he used to sleep with people for money, can he really hook up with a rich second generation?”
“Betas can also be kept?! Such high-level tactics, must have put in a lot of effort in bed.”
“You guys don’t understand, keeping a Beta means you can play around casually. It doesn’t matter if you hurt them, they won’t be marked anyway.”
“So getting into A-University理工was just to raise his value, Betas as ‘ducks’ really aren’t worth much.”
Luo Chengjie watched the comments with satisfaction. The minion next to him chuckled, “I really didn’t expect the photos I took of the Maybach that day to be so helpful to Brother Luo.” Then he worried, “But what about Shen Bianye? Will he come looking for trouble with us?”
“Actually, this has nothing to do with Brother Luo. The only one losing out is that bar. The manager said the content of the post is fake. They checked surveillance and found the person, but they’re not dealing with it themselves. We don’t need to get revenge for them.”
Luo Chengjie grinned, “What do you know?”
“I told them to withhold the money. A pauper actually dares to resist. Don’t you think it’s interesting to use their own methods against them?”
“Life is so boring, of course, you have to find some fun. So what if he’s a top student? Does he have money to hire paid commenters? I want him to not be able to get by at school; he’ll be pointed at like a rat.”
“As for Shen Bianye, it’s already been confirmed they’re just roommates. It’s normal to help out if you see something. People like them won’t bother themselves for a pauper.”
“We are on the same level.”
Xie Yuanxing was completely unaware of the post. He lingered until the library closed before returning to his dorm. Ignoring Shen Bianye’s expression that suggested he was about to speak, he put down his belongings and walked towards the bathroom with his pajamas. Shen Bianye stepped in front of the bathroom door, blocking him, and said coldly, “Aren’t you going to explain?”
“We signed a contract. Now you’re just going to pack up and leave the dorm?”
Xie Yuanxing: “I’m going to take a shower, move.” He paused, “Besides, the contract only says I need to soothe your pheromone imbalance anytime, anywhere. It doesn’t say I have to live in the same dorm as you.”
“I haven’t violated anything, Shen Bianye.”
“Haven’t you made enough fuss at lunch? What’s with this tantrum again?”
With that, he ducked under Shen Bianye’s arm and slammed the bathroom door shut with a bang.
Shen Bianye stood at the door, almost getting his nose hit. Looking at the closed bathroom door, he was almost amused by his anger. He turned and walked to Xie Yuanxing’s desk, pulled out the chair, and sat down. He would wait here. Xie Yuanxing had better ability to shower in the bathroom until dawn.
The sound of water splashed in the bathroom. Shen Bianye was originally waiting idly, then his thoughts slowly drifted. He subtly raised his legs, crossing them, and used this to suppress his arousal. Just as he was thinking of something else to distract himself, Xie Yuanxing’s phone on the desk suddenly buzzed rapidly. Shen Bianye, as if it were his own phone, casually picked it up and opened it. The phone wasn’t locked; swiping the screen revealed the text messages.
His eyes slowly turned cold. All desire vanished, replaced only by overflowing rage. The words on the phone screen were imprinted in his ominous eyes.
Xie Zhuowu: “Hey, are you so poor you have to go out and sell yourself?”
“How about this, you shake your bare ass at me, and I can give you twenty, fifty so you can have a meal.”
“You didn’t actually go sell your ass, did you? Does anyone even want a Beta?”
The other side sent a link to a post, and then added: “How much per sale? I heard you’ll sleep with anyone for money.”
“If you weren’t my cousin, I’d probably patronize your business too.”
“Playing dead again?”
“Not replying on WeChat, ignoring texts too?”
Xie Yuanxing walked out of the bathroom and saw Shen Bianye, his face terrifying, pointing at Xie Zhuowu’s number and asking him, “This kind of person, is he your cousin?”
His face instantly changed drastically. He quickly walked over and snatched the phone from Shen Bianye’s hand.
“Are you sick? Why are you touching my phone?”
Shen Bianye didn’t argue with him, his voice subtly laced with hostility, “I’ll pay for his future medical expenses. Is it okay if I don’t beat him to death?”
“Also, what did he mean by you ‘playing dead again’? Has he cursed you more than once?”
“Shen Bianye,” Xie Yuanxing also got angry, his face never this ugly before.
“This is my business, it has nothing to do with you.”
He had blocked Xie Zhuowu on WeChat, but he didn’t expect him to send text messages. Although he didn’t know what Xie Zhuowu said, he probably knew it wasn’t anything good, but none of this had anything to do with Shen Bianye.
Shen Bianye repeated in a low voice, “Your business?” He smiled, his smile icy: “Doesn’t matter, I’m a warm-hearted person, my greatest wish is to be a Lei Feng. I’ll help you solve your business too.”
“If I leave him with one breath, I’ll consider myself law-abiding.”
He raised his hand and pulled out his own phone, dialing a number. Without waiting for the other party to speak, he said directly, “Help me investigate someone, named,”
“Shen Bianye!”
Xie Yuanxing suddenly called out his name, his tone dropping to freezing point: “This is my privacy, my private matter.”
“And what’s the difference between you and him?”
Shen Bianye was stunned. Him? And that scumbag? No difference? This was so preposterous he almost laughed. The next second, he heard Xie Yuanxing’s cold questioning: “Just because you give more money, your words aren’t harsh? You become the righteous one?”
Xie Yuanxing looked at Shen Bianye, speaking each word distinctly: “Freak, an Omega pretending to be a Beta to sneak into the dorm to hook up with men, using inferior pheromones to lure people, to hook up with Alphas.”
“Do I need to remind you where these words came from?”
He hadn’t wanted to say things so harshly, but whether it was to deal with Xie Zhuowu or to beat Xie Zhuowu, those were things he would do. Xie Yuanxing wouldn’t let go of what needed to be avenged, but his family matters had nothing to do with Shen Bianye.
The world fell into dead silence, only Xie Yuanxing’s voice echoing. Freak, lure, hook up—these words echoed in his mind again and again.
Shen Bianye’s blood suddenly ran cold throughout his body, and for a moment, he was so weak he could barely hold the lightweight phone in his hand.
