[Xiaoye R&D · Team Leader Jin]: cute.jpg, I just saw Second Young Master proposing to Secretary Song!
[I’m a Walnut]: I saw it too when I passed by. Gotta say, Second Young Master’s proposal moves were so smooth, no stage fright at all, like he’s done it a million times.
[Assistant Gong]: Cough Watch what you’re saying. Our Second Young Master is just calm and composed, always prepared, and confident in everything.
[Xiaoye R&D · Team Leader Jin]: The one above knows how to flatter, no wonder the salary’s high.
[Assistant Gong]: ?? My high salary comes from hard work. Who’s flattering?
[Jian Feng · Xiaoshi’s Pillar]: [Video], haha, I recorded a video. Everyone, take a look.
[Jian Feng · Xiaoshi’s Pillar]: Who changed my group ID to this?
[Assistant Gong]: Probably your secretary. Only he would log into your account to post tasks.
[Jian Feng · Xiaoshi’s Pillar]: …
[Advertising Dept · Little Biscuit]: AHHH Secretary Song said yes! Hehe, we’ll get to see their office romance at work from now on.
[Song Ruochen · Xiaoshi’s Backbone]: 0.o?
[Jian Yuheng · Xiaoshi’s Weathervane]: Everyone, rest assured, Chenchen and I won’t use work time for romance.
[Jian Yuheng · Xiaoshi’s Weathervane]: Why was my ID changed too?
[Song Ruochen · Xiaoshi’s Backbone]: shifty eyes whistling.jpg
[Xiaoye R&D · Team Leader Jin]: Wait, you guys, don’t your IDs include your job titles?
[Song Ruochen · Xiaoshi’s Backbone]: @Assistant Gong, this one doesn’t count as human?
[Assistant Gong]: angry_bean.jpg
“Xiaoshi’s little freeloader,” Jian Yuheng said helplessly in the cruise ship’s restaurant, “stop bullying my assistant.”
“I didn’t.” Song Ruochen was focused on tackling his post-dinner dessert. “I think I’ve been pretty nice to him lately.”
“How so?” Jian Yuheng asked patiently.
“I… took up his boss’s time,” Song Ruochen said confidently, “giving him countless opportunities to slack off.”
Jian Yuheng: “…”
That’s… pretty nice.
Song Ruochen’s dessert was matcha-flavored ice cream. As he ate, he admired the new watch on his wrist.
It was Jian Yuheng’s proposal gift—very pretty, very shiny, perfect for a college student.
“Why did Evil Young Master give me a watch?” Song Ruochen asked. “In novels, someone of your status usually gifts a car.”
Jian Yuheng: “I considered it, but I couldn’t find a roller coaster that matches Secretary Song’s vibe.”
Song Ruochen: “?”
[Hahaha, Evil Young Master’s still traumatized by your driving skills.]
Song Ruochen: “…”
[Evil Young Master carefully picked a gift that’s safer for him.]
“The watch is nice,” said Jian Yuheng, who’d learned from experience. “I’m helping you manage your time. In the future, you can rewind precisely to the second.”
That made some sense. Song Ruochen was convinced.
“Secretary Song, Second Young Master.” Assistant Gong passed by, rummaged through his pockets, and placed a few pieces of brittle candy on Song Ruochen’s table. “I grabbed these from over there. Try them.”
“Thanks.” Song Ruochen accepted the candy.
Jian Yuheng noticed that during their conversation, several passing employees had tossed snacks to Song Ruochen.
No one knew when it started, but people would instinctively check their pockets for something to give Song Ruochen whenever they saw him.
By the time they returned to their room, Song Ruochen was stuffed.
“Quick,” Song Ruochen said, “I need some hawthorn to help digestion.”
Jian Yuheng: “:I”
His alpha pheromones had somehow developed a fourth function beyond attraction, calming, and intimidation: digestion aid.
“Dr. Jian,” Song Ruochen urged, “prescribe me something quick.”
Vines of grape-scented pheromones wrapped around Jian Yuheng’s neck. He raised an eyebrow and released a hawthorn-scented aura.
Instantly, alpha pheromones enveloped Song Ruochen.
Cheeks slightly flushed, Song Ruochen spoke up: “Less breeze, a bit warmer—yes, like that.”
Jian Yuheng adjusted, puzzled.
“Can it sweep up and down?” Song Ruochen asked.
Jian Yuheng: “…?”
That function sounded oddly familiar.
“Secretary Song,” Jian Yuheng activated his villainous aura, scooping him up and tossing him onto the sofa. “Did you get proposed to by an air conditioner?”
“Hey…” Song Ruochen, long immune to Jian Yuheng’s antics, grinned. “I was just curious and wanted to try it.”
Jian Yuheng placed a hand on his head, ruffling his hair into a mess.
Song Ruochen didn’t dodge. Instead, he rested his head on Jian Yuheng’s lap, settling into a comfortable position.
“Tomorrow, the ship will dock near a small island,” Jian Yuheng said. “There are plenty of island activities. Want me to teach you how to surf?”
“I’m not playing with you tomorrow,” Song Ruochen replied. “I’ve got plans.”
He pulled out a schedule. “Tomorrow, I’m meeting up with Fuzzy Monster and Da Zao for a ‘Mountain Stroll’ project.”
“Then book me for the day after,” Jian Yuheng suggested. “Spend some time with your Alpha friend.”
Secretary Song had quite the friend circle.
“Fine, but no surfing,” Song Ruochen said. “Working folks are exhausted. It’s a rare… rare vacation. I’m not doing anything that requires effort.”
“Alright,” Jian Yuheng agreed. “Go have fun.”
He liked Song Ruochen a lot but didn’t need to keep him glued to his side.
Letting Song Ruochen go wild and wreak havoc on others occasionally was pretty great too.
After all, for an outsider like Song Ruochen to have so many friends in this world made Jian Yuheng happy for him.
–
The Next Morning
The cruise ship docked near a tourist island.
Song Ruochen followed Yan Ci, taking a yacht and then a car, arriving at the foot of a mountain.
“Secretary Song, this is for you.” Yan Ci handed over a massive hiking backpack.
Yan Ci: “Secretary Song, why are you squatting on the ground hugging the bag?”
Song Ruochen: “…”
“Let me confirm today’s itinerary again,” Song Ruochen said. “We’re doing ‘Mountain Stroll’?”
“Yup,” Yan Ci said innocently. “Breathing fresh air, listening to pleasant bird chirps, feeling nature’s embrace.”
Yan Ci: “0.0.”
Yan Ci: “Look into my eyes.”
“Is… is that so?” Song Ruochen was skeptical but agreed, “Alright, let’s go.”
With their backpacks on, Fuzzy Monster, Da Zao, and Song Ruochen chatted and laughed as they ventured into the lush green mountain—
“I lost a bet with another commentator recently,” Yan Ci said.
“Any punishment?” Song Ruochen asked.
“I have to livestream an escape room,” Yan Ci replied. “Secretary Song, will you join me?”
[Secretary Song will help you settle in the escape room.]
[Hahahahaha.]
“No problem,” Song Ruochen said coolly. “I’ll handle it.”
[Is this a punishment for Da Zao or for Second Young Master? Hahaha.]
[Second Young Master’s long day ahead.]
[Hahahaha… static noise.]
Song Ruochen: “?”
Static noise.
[Network unstable. Rewind system temporarily unavailable.]
“Hm, no big deal,” Song Ruochen said. “I’m not that reliant on the rewind system.”
After another half-hour of walking, Song Ruochen was still surrounded by pure, untouched nature.
“Date,” Song Ruochen asked, “how much longer do we have to walk?”
“Five more hours,” Yan Ci replied. “We’ll reach the peak, then take the cable car down, enjoying a beautiful sunset along the way.”
Song Ruochen: “?”
What the heck?
Five hours?
“Five hours, and I’ll still be alive to see the sunset?” Song Ruochen asked.
He gave Meng Yumian a kick. “Fuzzy Monster, say something!”
“I really want to ride the cable car,” Fuzzy Monster said with a blissful expression. “I want to climb the mountain.”
“System, rewind,” Song Ruochen demanded. “I’m out.”
[No network.]
Song Ruochen: “…”
Song Ruochen: “NO!!!”
Evening
Jian Yuheng, carrying a surfboard, came ashore and waited for Song Ruochen at the cable car’s endpoint.
A cable car arrived, and out stepped BO… O.
“Let’s hang out again tomorrow, Secretary Song!” Yan Ci bounced energetically into Jian Feng’s arms.
“I’ll draw this… I need to draw this…” Meng Yumian, with one bar of battery left, trudged away exhausted.
“Was the ‘Mountain Stroll’ fun?” Jian Yuheng asked.
Song Ruochen didn’t answer. He raised his right hand, beckoning Jian Yuheng with a finger.
“Evil Young Master,” Song Ruochen said, “carry me.”
“Sure thing,” Jian Yuheng replied.
As Jian Yuheng approached, he leaned down slightly. Song Ruochen wrapped his arms around the alpha’s neck, feeling Jian Yuheng’s strong hands steadying his legs, carrying him securely on his back.
“You smell like the sea,” Song Ruochen sniffed. “Salty hawthorn.”
“…I was in the ocean half the day,” Jian Yuheng admitted.
“I’m never going out with Fuzzy Monster and Da Zao again,” Song Ruochen declared. “Seriously, my rewind system was down, and I didn’t even get a chance to regret it.”
Jian Yuheng carried him, chuckling at his complaints.
“My legs are sore, my back too,” Song Ruochen said. “I’d rather hang out with Second Young Master.”
[Hang out with Second Young Master, and your legs and back won’t be sore?]
“Get lost,” Song Ruochen snapped.
This system was useless.
The sunset by the sea was stunning. Jian Yuheng carried him to a lounge chair.
“Xiao Jian,” Song Ruochen said, “come give President Song a back massage.”
“Hawthorn,” Jian Yuheng teased.
Song Ruochen lay flat on the lounge chair, and the alpha’s hands skillfully massaged his waist.
Song Ruochen squinted comfortably.
After a while, as sleepiness crept in, a hand brushed his forehead, tucking away hair tousled by the sea breeze.
“It’s dark; the stars are out,” Jian Yuheng said. “Ready to head back?”
Song Ruochen opened his eyes, catching the starry night by the sea.
“Chenchen, got plans tomorrow?” Jian Yuheng asked.
Song Ruochen shook his head. “Tomorrow, I’m with my boyfriend.”
“No rush for your boyfriend,” he added. “I’ve got plenty of time to spend with you.”
Jian Yuheng smiled.
Two Days Later.
[Xiaoshi Group Chat] (499 members)
[Xiaoye R&D · Team Leader Jin]: Waaa, we’re docking soon. The vacation was too short.
[Assistant Gong]: Sigh… Back to work.
[Jian Feng · Xiaoshi’s Pillar]: Hm…
[Secretary Song]: lost_in_thought.jpg
On the deck, Jian Yuheng was on a call.
“Yes? Right, both parties passed the ABO pre-marital test,” Jian Yuheng said. “We’re scheduling the marriage registration for today.”
“Today, for sure?” the person on the phone asked.
“Yes,” Jian Yuheng confirmed. “The cruise is about to dock, and I don’t want to wait a minute longer.”
“No problem,” they replied. “We’ll reserve a slot for you.”
Jian Yuheng: “:]”
His heart, like a carefree ship, had found its harbor.
[Ding-dong.]
Jian Yuheng: “?”
He looked around.
Where’s the harbor? Where’d it go?
In bed? At night? How far did it rewind? Is this free or what?
Song Ruochen nuzzled closer into Jian Yuheng’s arms.
“Evil Young Master,” Song Ruochen opened his eyes, “I extended the vacation!”
Jian Yuheng: “…”
So quirky.
But so lovable.
“The system gave me a 12-hour free rewind voucher earlier,” clever Song Ruochen said. “We can keep playing.”
Song Ruochen: “Hehe, I haven’t written last week’s report yet. You can use this time to catch up.”
Song Ruochen: “The system’s most useful rewind yet.”
[? When have I ever been useless?]
“? Alright, huh?” Jian Yuheng said.
“Thanks for the extended vacation, President Song,” Jian Yuheng added.
Marriage registration? No rush, no rush.
Let’s just enjoy the vacation for now.
