FIMA Ch2: Wasted
The teenage Alpha, whose voice had just finished breaking, had an unexpectedly deep and husky tone that carried an indescribable, sexy charm.
In his lap, Xie Qingxiao froze for a moment, actually forgetting to stand up.
Thud, thud… thud, thud…
The sound of running footsteps echoed in a flurry. The light in front of Gu Siyuan and Xie Qingxiao was slightly obscured as two tall figures appeared not far in front of them.
“Sorry, sorry, my bad! I just walked into the classroom and lost my grip on the ball!” Huang Cheng jogged over to retrieve the basketball. While lightly bouncing it with one hand, he offered an apology with a cheeky grin.
Xie Qingxiao furrowed his brows and was about to say something, but when he caught sight of the handsome face of Shen Ting walking over alongside Huang Cheng, his expression instantly cooled. He simply said, “I believe you didn’t do it on purpose.”
“Yeah.” Huang Cheng broke into a dry laugh. Pointing at their bizarre posture, he added, “What are you guys…”
Only then did Xie Qingxiao realize what was happening. He instantly vaulted off Gu Siyuan’s lap and stood up.
At the same time, his beautiful face shifted slightly. He subconsciously looked toward Shen Ting, seemingly hoping to elicit some sort of reaction.
Shen Ting raised his sword-like eyebrows, cast a glance at him, and smiled nonchalantly. “As long as you’re okay.”
The teenage Alpha possessed a radiant aura and a handsome face. His post-exercise appearance was even more youthfully charming, enough to make who knows how many Betas’ and Omegas’ hearts flutter.
But as his boyfriend, Xie Qingxiao was left with nothing but an unspeakable, bitter ache in his heart—aching over Shen Ting’s magnanimous straightforwardness just now, and aching over his complete lack of care…
“Hey…” Right at that moment, a magnetic male voice, accompanied by the sound of knuckles tapping lightly against a desk, interrupted everyone’s thoughts.
The several people involved all turned to look at Gu Siyuan, who had spoken.
Gu Siyuan ignored their gazes. He merely raised an eyebrow at Huang Cheng with a flat expression, then pointed down at the books and test papers scattered on the floor.
Under this feather-light gaze, Huang Cheng’s entire body gave a violent shudder. The next moment, his body reacted faster than his brain; he bent down and began picking up the things that had just been knocked to the floor by the basketball.
Interrupted by this, Xie Qingxiao also instantly withdrew his various inexplicable thoughts, turned around, and began tidying up his chaotic desk.
Shen Ting, however, seemed to sense something and cast an appraising look at Gu Siyuan.
In his impression, Gu Siyuan was the favorite student of teachers across all subjects and the pride of Beichuan High School. Yet, his personality was gloomy and aloof. Such a person was clearly not from the same world as them. Despite being classmates for nearly three years, Shen Ting had very little interaction with him, probably having exchanged no more than ten sentences in total.
But at this very moment, even though this person’s appearance and attire looked no different from the past, the vibe he gave off was completely different… It was a contradictory mix of restraint and arrogance. Most importantly, his aura was exceptionally intimidating.
Since childhood, Shen Ting’s presence had overpowered the vast majority of Alphas his age. This was the first time he felt someone could match him equally.
“Alright, I’ll just leave them here.” Over there, Huang Cheng swiftly picked up everything from the floor and haphazardly piled it onto Gu Siyuan and Xie Qingxiao’s desks.
“Mm.” Gu Siyuan didn’t force him to organize them properly, afraid he would just make a bigger mess.
Sweeping a glance over and seeing the matter resolved, Shen Ting turned and returned to his seat.
At this moment, Xie Qingxiao’s desk-tidying movements suddenly halted. As if all the strength had been drained from his body, he rested his chin heavily on top of a tall mountain of books, lost in thought.
Catching this devastated, absent-minded appearance from the corner of his eye, Gu Siyuan thought of the story the system had transmitted to him. He suddenly raised a hand to brush against his knee, which still seemed to hold a lingering warmth, and let out a light chuckle.
“Heh…”
Xie Qingxiao was currently in a highly sensitive emotional state, so he naturally heard this sound clearly. He instantly lifted his eyes and looked over at him.
Those black-and-white eyes, which just a moment ago held little emotion, suddenly brimmed with a rippling, lustrous intensity. Paired with that exquisitely picturesque face, it was truly captivating to the extreme.
Gu Siyuan raised an eyebrow and thought to himself: in his past life, besides studying, he was solely focused on figuring out how to make money and build his career. He hadn’t paid much attention to his surroundings, but he vaguely knew that his high school Omega desk-mate seemed to be a massive beauty.
It was just a pity that, for some unknown reason, this great beauty of a desk-mate had suddenly dropped out of school right before the college entrance exams. After that, he never heard any news of him again.
Of course, now he knew the reason.
Gu Siyuan leaned lazily against the back of his chair, casting another glance at Xie Qingxiao’s clear, devastatingly beautiful face.
What a pity that beautiful jade bones were reduced to dust and sand… a famous flower buried by a single night of cold rain.
Therefore, high school seniors should just focus on studying properly. Why bother dating? Courting disaster like that ruined his whole life, and utterly wasted this good skin of his.
“You… what’s with that look in your eyes?” Xie Qingxiao’s tone at this moment, however, was not friendly. As he asked, he subconsciously straightened his back. He had never been willing to let others see his vulnerable side.
The simple white dress-shirt uniform became even straighter and more fitted due to his movement. However, his waistline and back were far too slender; this action didn’t add any imposing aura to him at all, but rather enhanced a unique sense of innocent purity.
Especially when Xie Qingxiao looked at anyone other than Shen Ting, his phoenix eyes would habitually tilt upward slightly. His glances grew increasingly radiant and striking, making people want to pluck him from his branch and drag him down into the mud.
“Hm? Were you talking to me? I was looking at the scenery outside.” Gu Siyuan pushed up the black-framed glasses on the bridge of his nose, casually shifting the topic, firmly concealing his sharp, slightly mocking gaze.
Having just arrived, angering his mission target was not a good choice.
Xie Qingxiao was momentarily speechless, clearly taken aback by Gu Siyuan’s bold, barefaced lying without so much as a change in expression.
But at the same time, he also felt some regret in his heart over his harsh words and stern expression just now.
He originally wasn’t an impulsive person, but whenever it came to anything related to Shen Ting, it seemed very difficult to stay calm. Perhaps deep down, he had too little confidence in Shen Ting’s feelings for him, which was why he ended up taking his anger out on bystanders…
Regardless of whether Gu Siyuan was laughing at him or not, he shouldn’t have reacted like that. What use was it other than making himself look insecure and petty?
The first period of the afternoon was English class.
The English teacher was also their homeroom teacher, and she had always been strict with them. Just now, as if holding a stopwatch, she stepped into the classroom right on the bell, not delaying by even half a second.
Having reached the senior year, the textbook content had long been finished. What they interacted with the most every day were all kinds of test papers.
Especially since their school had just finished the monthly exams last week. After the grades came out this week, the daily class content for teachers of all subjects was analyzing and reviewing the exam papers.
English class was naturally no exception.
Gu Siyuan looked at the handwriting on the English test paper—identical to his own, but comparatively a bit immature—and past memories surfaced in his mind bit by bit.
He picked up the test paper and casually skimmed through it. The score was passable enough: 149 points. Only a single point had been deducted from the final essay.
He read it over carefully.
It was just a very plain, straightforward description. It perhaps used a few sentence structures that were relatively complex for a high school student, as well as a few somewhat novel vocabulary words and phrases. The essay had no mistakes whatsoever, but it also had no massive flashes of brilliance.
Whether that one point was deducted or not didn’t really matter.
Gu Siyuan stopped dwelling on it and flipped the test paper back to the previous page.
The English teacher, Miss Zhang, was currently going over the reading comprehension section on this page. Miss Zhang was a very energetic person; when reviewing papers, she had a habit of pacing back and forth, left and right across the classroom.
At this moment, she happened to walk to the back row. Smack… The teaching pointer in her hand swung down directly onto the desks of two students. She looked at the two of them with a cold sneer.
“Sleeping comfortably, are we?”
