DKIE CH103: Extra V

During the most sacred moment of reciting the vows, even the light favored them. A beam of light happened to pass through the cumulus clouds, shining on the heads of the newlyweds on the arc-shaped high platform, their silhouettes overlapping in large areas.

With the sincere and devout promises, smiles of blessings and applause followed.

It’s just that… these wedding vows made them feel very ‘colorful’ inside. What a “no matter who is richer, let’s borrow another thousand years from heaven.” They really weren’t willing to suffer at all. So what did that make most of the guests present? Single and still having to suffer?

The ceremony finally ended amidst a sea of complex faces, and the banquet, dining, and ballroom dancing started seamlessly.

“Hammerhead noodles, lava oysters…” The souls of the masses were somewhat healed by the delicious food. They had to admit that the wealthy couple was truly generous. This time, all the dishes were prepared by the master chefs of the Merman clan. When the lids were lifted, the aroma did not scatter but formed a unique mirage. The only scent that wafted out was the aroma of wine, which mingled with the music, injecting a surging passion into the dance floor.

“Luka, over here.” Lilian enthusiastically called him over, then issued a summons to the surroundings: “Truth or Dare, who’s in?”

Luka had referenced this game in “Tales of the Strange Town.” With the popularity of the tales, the mini-games within it also became fashionable.

The surrounding guests were eager but also a little hesitant. If they chose “Truth,” with so many powerful figures present, the probability of getting away with a lie was basically zero.

Seeing these hesitant expressions, Lilian was already prepared, smiling as she took out a small box.

“Let’s draw lots. Those with a serial number containing the number nine will participate in the first round. Note, no using magic to interfere with the selection!”

The whole plan was a godsend for those with decision-making difficulties.

Luka and Quill didn’t need to draw lots. As the protagonists of the day, they had a direct pass to the first round.

As the small round balls were drawn one by one, the rest of the game’s participants began to emerge. In order, they were: Alice, Berlanie, Grover, Isa, the Saint, the Elf King, the Lord of Boulder City, and the ferret.

Ferret: Squeak?

So many dragons. The Dragon clan was always ahead in the race of bad luck, taking up almost half the spots.

The rules of the game were simple. Roll the dice to compare sizes; the one with the smallest number had to choose between Truth or Dare.

Under the gaze of many, Luka closed his eyes and shook the dice wildly, successfully taking the first hit.

Three question marks popped out of his pupils. He looked at it several times in disbelief, confirming there were no dots on it, while the other sides were fine.

Lilian quickly picked it up to confirm again. “Ah, one side is blank.”

The Dwarf clan sneered, “After all, not all craftsmanship is called dwarven craftsmanship.”

Shoddy work everywhere.

Someone said, “Since it’s blank, let’s count it as zero.”

Luka: “…”
Who taught you to round like that? You’re expelled.

Everyone tacitly agreed that he had the smallest number. The first unlucky person had appeared, and the scene immediately became lively. “Truth or Dare! Truth or Dare!”

Luka’s eyelid twitched. That’s not right. Didn’t they say his luck only affected those around him? How did he end up being the first one out this time?

Amidst the repeated cheers, Luka thought for a moment. “Truth, I guess.”

He didn’t want to participate in an adventure sport on his wedding day. Because Luka made his decision quickly, it was the participants’ turn to be troubled.

There was a total of one question. Who would ask it? First, they excluded Quill, who would definitely go easy on him.

The rest exchanged glances, and finally, the Lord of Boulder City stood up.

He looked at Quill and said shrewdly, “It’s fine, let him ask. But we’ll decide the question.”

As he spoke, he opened his terminal and immediately searched for [The most tricky questions for couples].

Lilian: Oh ho.

A line of small words jumped to the top of the homepage: [Optimal solution has been retrieved for you]

The end of the internet is big data retrieval. The current terminals were already quite advanced.

The optimal solution made the eyes of the onlookers go wide: [If your parents and I fell into the water, who would you save first?]

“Huh?” What kind of question is that?

Just as the Lord of Boulder City was about to search again, it was too late. Quill had already read it out, word for word.

Luka was silent for a few seconds.

After a moment, he said seriously, “…I feel like the whole world knows the answer to this.”

The guests nodded one after another. For this new Demon King, the correct posture should be to pull his other half up with both hands, and then stomp on the ones in the water.

One foot for his mother, and both feet for his father.

Luka nodded heavily.

That’s right, that’s it.

The standard answer was out, and the first round of Truth was over.

Seeing that he had luckily escaped, the Lord of Boulder City shook his head. “A miscalculation. Let’s have another round.”

There were no objections. Everyone re-rolled the newly replaced dice.

Luka still rolled first, this time getting a six. Then Quill, then the ferret. The pressure was on the dragons.

After a few minutes, they exerted their strength steadily. Four dragons rolled three…

Isa, who rolled a three, clenched her fist in excitement. “Yes, yes, yes, I’m not the unluckiest one.”

One sentence immediately made the atmosphere on the field tense again.

You had to know, they were selected from among their clan to participate in the game. But there was always someone stronger than the strong. The remaining three dragons were about to have a final battle for the pinnacle of bad luck.

Even the least gossipy Elf King had a hint of inquiry in his turquoise eyes.

The luck of the Dragon clan was generally average. It was said that when they drew blind boxes without a guarantee, they had to buy a whole mountain to get the hidden one.

Who was the unluckiest one in the Dragon clan?

More and more guests gathered around.

“A three-way standoff.” Alice took a deep breath. “This is big.”

Berlanie looked at his two companions, his frost-covered pupils flashing with a touch of solemnity. “Rio isn’t here. I can’t accept this.”

Grover nodded. “Indeed.”

Was Rio’s luck actually better than theirs?

“Let’s roll together.”

Before the dragon’s happy roll, a gentle voice suddenly interjected. The Saint: “Everyone, wait a moment. I’ll open a betting pool. Everyone can place their bets.”

As he spoke, a small gambling table appeared out of thin air. The ferret waved its paw, and the detailed rules appeared directly. It seemed they had a ready-made template.

The guests blinked to make sure they weren’t seeing things. Gambling was a strict rule in the Holy City. Why did they seem so proficient?

Luka didn’t find it strange at all, instead showing an “as expected” expression.

He and Quill stood by the long table, deep in thought for victory. “Who should we bet on?”

It was a tough choice. It felt like all three dragons had a good chance of winning.

Quill said softly, “Grover.”

Luka raised an eyebrow. Are you sure? Alice is very competitive too.

Quill nodded. An abundance of bad luck often affects one’s aura. He could feel that the coldness emanating from Grover wasn’t just from being a Snow Dragon, but also from other factors.

Glancing at the evenly matched contestants, Luka silently bet on Grover.

Everyone made their difficult choices one after another.

Soon, the moment to witness a miracle arrived.

Alice was the first to roll, and she actually got a three. Her fiery eyes immediately filled with intense joy.

Luka shook his head as he watched. As expected of the Dragon clan, a three was a safe bet.

Berlanie just shook it lightly and immediately opened the lid. Three.

He was safe too!

Only Grover was left. He first chose an excellent feng shui position according to the knowledge in the book, then shook it exactly six times, not more, not less, muttering something in his mouth, trying for good luck.

For some reason, seeing him go through so many preparations, Luka already had a bad premonition for him.

A set of flashy moves ultimately resulted in a small 2.

Grover fell silent.

Others didn’t dare to jeer at the dragons, but their own kind were not shy about their schadenfreude, immediately making him choose between Truth or Dare.

“Dare.” Grover composed himself.

Brave dragons are never afraid of any adventure.

As everyone was racking their brains, the Lord of Boulder City appeared again and said faintly, “You just have to say out loud, ‘I don’t like three-and-a-half literature.'”

So, so cruel!

The faces of all the dragons changed. Even Luka took a deep breath upon hearing it.

Grover smiled and said, word by word, “Are. You. Trying. To. Kill. Me?”

The Old Monster at the same table as the Lord of Boulder City reminded his old friend not to go too far. “Then let’s change it. No more dare, change to truth.”

Grover’s mood turned from cloudy to sunny.

“Okay.”

“Please answer, between the first and second parts of ‘The Beloved Three-and-a-Half,’ which one do you like more?”

“!!!”

The first part was the white moonlight, but in the second part, the cub began to grow, and his interactions with everyone increased, making the character more three-dimensional.

Choose the second part? Grover seemed to already see the newly hatched little cub looking at him with swollen, teary eyes, as if asking, “Don’t you like me anymore?”

His entire dragon soul left his body, muttering to himself as if caught in a heavenly debate.

The ferret took out its reading glasses and began to divide the previous betting money. No one urged Grover. The answer was no longer important. The way he looked now, it was as if he had already experienced ten great adventures.

The banquet became lively again.

Leaving only Grover to struggle for a long time, his claws almost wearing a hole in the magic barrier. He didn’t even notice when the wedding ended.

In the end, it was the Saint who descended with his usual spring-breeze-like smile.

“Half of the previous gambling funds will be donated to charity in your and Luka’s name. You are the only guest who gave a monetary gift today.”

Grover immediately stopped scratching. The only one to give money, and it was a joint donation. It sounded very meaningful.

He decided to forgive the previous century-old problem.

The Dwarven Chieftain gritted his teeth in hatred at the sight. This was the human race, a typical example of gaining goodwill empty-handed.

This scene also fell into Luka’s eyes. He lamented that the dragons also had a childish side, but as always, they were easy to coax.

The staff at the wedding venue began to distribute maps in sequence.

This land of ruins was far from the hustle and bustle of the world, with many undeveloped natural landscapes. Volcanoes, hot springs, primeval forests, etc., the specific locations were clearly marked on the map.

Quill took one and asked, “Go back and rest, or take a look around?”

Luka looked at the sky, it was already starry.

He thought for a moment. “Let’s go back.”

The dwarves had built a resort-like base nearby. The other guests were in high spirits, and very few chose to go back like them.

The wedding venue was still some distance from the resort. Before Lilian went to soak in the hot springs, she gave Luka a suggestive wink, silently saying, “Have a pleasant night.”

Luka hadn’t thought of that at first, but upon hearing it, his ears instantly turned red.

He immediately grabbed Quill, who was about to tear open space, his gaze somewhat erratic.

“Um, it’s forbidden to use high-speed transportation after drinking.”

Quill chuckled. What’s wrong with him, why is he starting to talk nonsense?

Luka coughed lightly, but his attitude was very firm.

Looking at the familiar face so close, Quill chose to go along with him. “Then how do you want to go back?”

Luka lowered his eyes and thought for a few seconds, then muttered, “You carry me on your back.”

A reasonable request. Quill was more than happy to oblige.

Luka naturally didn’t make the request for no reason. It was mainly to have his back to the other person.

The scenery along the way was different from the city-state. His mind wasn’t on appreciating the scenery, and he didn’t even give it a second glance. Luka lay on Quill’s back and secretly took out his terminal.

Having been single for two worlds, there were some things he had to look up.

One page, two pages, he flipped through several pages continuously. They were filled with dense theoretical knowledge. Luka got a headache just from skimming through it. In the end, he concluded: he wouldn’t do such technical work; he still preferred to lie back and win.

“Hmm.” Then there was even less need to work hard.

Luka closed the terminal in a second.

Quill, who was carrying him, silently stopped his network intrusion. While Luka was searching, Quill had been uploading the massive amount of theoretical work he had stayed up late to do, knowing that this way he could get his wish.

Just as he was thinking, a warning hum came from behind him.

“You’ve gotten skilled, even knowing how to create computer viruses.”

Quill’s footsteps paused for a moment, then, as if nothing had happened, he just bent his waist a little lower to make him more comfortable.

Luka hummed an out-of-tune little tune, while the person in front of him had a deep smile hidden in his eyes.

The resort was not small, and the room belonging to the newlyweds contained the most ingenuity. As they were about to arrive, the map turned into an exclusive key, and a beam of guiding magic light automatically led the way.

Luka jumped off Quill’s back, his head tilted up and his mouth slightly open.

The magic cottage before them was built with a large amount of ore, and from some angles, decorations resembling animal skeletons could be vaguely seen.

But upon entering, it was actually a crystal tower. The refraction of light, combined with magic, made the outer ore shell easily transparent to the eye. They and nature seemed to be intimately connected.

“So beautiful,” Luka was immersed in the exquisite arrangement.

Until he had had his fill of the scenery, Luka’s gaze slowly froze on the crystal for a second.

The mirror surface clearly reflected everything.

Quill’s eyes had always been on him.

“It is beautiful,” the assenting voice said, it was unclear whether he was praising the night scenery or the person.

As their eyes met, the air heated up invisibly.

Like the setting of the sun and the rising of the moon, everything was natural and harmonious. The two of them, at some point, had rolled together.

The dark elements that necromancers were skilled in formed a strange flowing gauze, covering Luka’s eyes. Part of his five senses was deprived. The blurry movements of the body above him gave him a sense of disorder.

“Liar,” Luka murmured.

The so-called “lying back and winning” was all a lie. There wasn’t a moment of peace.

Tossing and turning, beads of sweat continuously dripped from his forehead. The stickiness made him feel at times as if he had fallen into a swamp, and at other times as if he had become a boiling cream soup.

Too passive.

Luka suddenly opened his eyes completely.

In the entanglement, Quill seemed to feel something. Before he could react, the surrounding world was instantly plunged into darkness.

The suddenly spread wings directly brought him into a closer range, a narrower space, where everything was clearly discernible.

The stimulation deepened. Quill’s fingers touched a sensitive spot on the wings, and Luka couldn’t help but let out a muffled groan.

A god’s body had considerable endurance and patience. After an unknown amount of time, when the wings slowly spread out again, Luka only felt that he had melted into a puddle of cream glue.

The night curtain fell, and the moon was bright with few stars.

Nearby, Quill’s breath was almost against his ear.

“Has a day passed?” he asked.

Luka turned his head and glanced at the mechanical clock. “It’s still the middle of the night, right after the wedding ended.”

“…”

All the romantic atmosphere was instantly shattered.

Under Quill’s “how is that possible” gaze, Luka said lazily, “The wings caused a time difference.”

After he became a god, his wings came with a time-stop field. Different racial talents, although he couldn’t completely freeze time like the Tree of Life, he could make the flow of time different inside and outside.

Previously, his super-sensitive wings had unconsciously accelerated with the rhythm of the person on top of him.

Quill was stunned for a moment, then suddenly flipped over on top. “Again.”

On such an important day, he absolutely could not leave such a shameful number.

A trace of weariness remained in his brow. Luka showed a little devil’s smile. “Accept reality…”

The rest of his words were sealed in his mouth, turning into a string of muffled characters.

Everything became fiery hot again.

This night was destined to be incredibly long.
