ASPWL Ch36: Reaping the Consequences

[If I were Yang Jie, I’d agree to the divorce.]

[Unfortunately, Yang Jie is more of a lovesick fool than my second brother.]

Ye Leyao glanced at Huo Yan.

[But my second brother isn’t that bad; at least he hasn’t raised three children that aren’t his for over ten years, right?]

[At most, my second brother only helped raise them for two months.]

[And my second brother’s values are way more upright than Yang Jie’s. The Yang family is completely messed up.]

Huo Yan: “…”

Could Ye Leyao stop pulling him out for comparison every time he encountered a love-struck person?

Also, he really wasn’t love-struck!

Huo Jing, Papa Huo and Mama Huo happened to turn their heads to look at Huo Yan.

The three of them were unanimous:

No, you are.

“He was already four months pregnant.” Huo Jing’s voice was very light, his tone despondent.

Mama Huo’s gaze was reproachful: “And you still wanted to cut ties with the family.”

Huo Yan: “…”

Stop scolding him; stop scolding him; he was already sweating profusely!

And they came here today to watch the fun, not to dig up his old accounts!

Spare him! Please!

Receiving Huo Yan’s pleading look, the Huo family members all had a slight curve at the corners of their mouths before turning their heads back to continue watching the excitement.

Seeing the tears on Jiang Fang and Yang Tian’s faces, Yang Jie instantly got anxious and hurriedly ran over to them: “What happened?”

Jiang Fang was holding Yang Tian with tears streaming down. She threw the rope in her hand to the ground, choking up as she said, “Ask your good sister-in-law and your good nephew what they did!”

Yang Jie looked at the rope in front of him, his face instantly turning very ugly, and he angrily asked Yang Yuan, “Yang Yuan, what exactly did you do to Xiao Tian?!”

“Yelling and shouting in front of so many guests—what kind of behavior is that?” At this moment, a stern and solemn voice came from the doorway.

Ye Leyao immediately looked over and got excited:

[Old Master Yang and Yang Kun are here too; now the Yang family is all together.]

Yang Kun was supporting the elderly Old Master Yang, standing at the doorway, with a few guests beside them. It looked like they were in the middle of a tour and heard the commotion upstairs, so they all came up together.

Seeing Old Master Yang, Madam Yang’s expression changed slightly, looking a bit worried as she glanced at Yang Yuan.

Yang Kun gave her a reassuring look.

Seeing Old Master Yang, Yang Jie, as if seeing his support, directly turned to him and complained, “Dad, you have to stand up for me!”

Old Master Yang, supported by Yang Kun, slowly walked in, sweeping his gaze around the room, finally resting his eyes on Yang Yuan, and asked in a deep voice, “Xiao Yuan, what happened?”

Yang Yuan felt a bit annoyed.

Just this little matter, who exactly told the old man? His legs weren’t even good, yet he specially climbed up to the fourth floor.

Yang Yuan didn’t want this matter to affect Old Master Yang’s good mood, but if he didn’t say it, Yang Jie would add fuel to the fire when telling the old man later. So Yang Yuan could only explain the whole story in detail.

When Yang Yuan mentioned that he had tied Yang Tian to the sofa and spanked him, Yang Jie was so angry that his face turned red.

He directly yelled at Yang Yuan, “Yang Yuan! We couldn’t even bear to hit Xiao Tian; how dare you, as his older brother, hit him?”

“Get it straight, I hit him because he hit my mom first.” Yang Yuan rolled his eyes, “He also secretly went to my room to steal my merchandise. When I asked him who he was, he didn’t say. I thought he was a thief. He was in the wrong first, so what’s wrong with me hitting him a few times? It’s not like he lost a piece of flesh.”

“If you dare to hit me, my dad will hit you!” Yang Tian suddenly poked his head out of Jiang Fang’s arms, saying fiercely.

[Yang Yuan really hit too lightly just now!]

Everyone who heard Ye Leyao’s inner thoughts nodded in agreement.

They have never seen such an unrepentant child!

The education in Yang Jie’s family was really too twisted.

Yang Yuan’s face darkened, and he immediately glared at Yang Tian, threateningly waving the plastic knife in his hand.

Yang Tian, who was really hurt by the beating earlier, was startled at the sight and shrank back into Jiang Fang’s arms.

“Mom, I’m so scared!”

Jiang Fang, with an angry face, said, “Yang Yuan! You’re still scaring him!”

Yang Jie chimed in, “Your merchandise is just a bunch of useless papers, right? They’re not worth anything. What’s wrong with letting Xiao Tian play with them?”

Ye Leyao was getting angrier just hearing this.

[It’s none of your business whether his merchandise is worth anything. Even if it’s worthless, it’s still his. Why should he let him tear it up?]

[Following Yang Jie’s logic, Yang Yuan thinks Yang Jie’s son is also worthless, so can Yang Yuan tear your son up?]

Yang Yuan was also furious with Yang Jie’s twisted reasoning: “That is my stuff; why should I let him play with it?”

“Why can’t you let him play with it? He didn’t even tear your merchandise this time. Besides, Xiao Tian is your younger brother. Yang Yuan, can you, as the older brother, not be so petty?” Yang Jie said angrily.

Yang Yuan’s anger was rising, and just as he was about to speak, he heard Old Master Yang speak slowly: “Xiao Yuan, your uncle is right.”

Yang Yuan’s expression changed suddenly, looking at Old Master Yang in disbelief: “Grandpa—”

Before he could finish, he heard Old Master Yang continue: “Just like your uncle said, Xiao Yuan, you didn’t really hurt Xiao Tian. Also, Yang Jie is Xiao Yuan’s real uncle. Yang Jie, can you, as an uncle, not be generous and hold a grudge against a child?”

When Old Master Yang finished speaking, the room fell silent for a moment.

Ye Leyao burst into laughter first:

[Pfft—hahaha.]

The Huo family members also reacted, barely holding back their laughter.

They had thought Old Master Yang was here to smooth things over, but it turned out he was here to back up Yang Yuan!

Yang Yuan clearly hadn’t expected Old Master Yang to say that either. His previously drooping mouth corners immediately lifted up again, and he laughed out loud: “Hehe.”

He knew Grandpa was fair!

On the other hand, Yang Jie stood there dumbfounded for a few seconds after hearing Old Master Yang’s words, then spoke with disbelief: “Dad, what did you say?”

“What did I say?” Old Master Yang sneered, “Aren’t I just using your reasoning to speak the truth?”

Yang Jie was so stunned by Old Master Yang’s words that he couldn’t speak for a while.

Jiang Fang couldn’t bear it anymore, directly standing up with Yang Tian in her arms and looking at Yang Jie with red eyes: “Yang Jie, your son was wronged today; are you really going to swallow your pride?”

Yang Jie hurriedly comforted Jiang Fang, “Don’t worry, I’ll definitely get an explanation for this! Don’t get upset; don’t get upset…”

After a few words of comfort to Jiang Fang, Yang Jie turned around and angrily questioned the old man, “Dad! Both of them are your grandsons, how can you be so biased?”

[Hey, hey, you misspoke; Yang Tian really isn’t Old Master Yang’s grandson!]

Ye Leyao quickly corrected.

Unfortunately, apart from the Huo family and Qin Yao, the Yang family couldn’t hear Ye Leyao’s inner thoughts.

Old Master Yang then slowly walked to the sofa and sat down, his expression unchanged, “If you want to say I’m biased, weren’t you just biased toward Yang Tian?”

[Using his own logic against him, so satisfying!]

Ye Leyao almost stood up to applaud.

Yang Jie choked on these words; his throat constricted, and he couldn’t speak again.

Jiang Fang realized that none of the people present were speaking up for them. Her eyes reddened immediately, “Since Dad has said this, it seems we shouldn’t have come to this banquet today. Fine, I’ll take Yang Tian and leave now—”

At this moment, an unexpected event occurred.

Yang Tian suddenly pulled his hand from Jiang Fang’s grip and pushed her hard on the back.

Caught off guard, Jiang Fang cried out and fell heavily to the ground, hitting her forehead on the coffee table, and blood instantly gushed out.

Yang Jie was shocked and quickly went to help Jiang Fang.

At that moment, Yang Tian grabbed a cup from the table and threw it at Old Master Yang.

Everyone was taken aback.

“Yang Tian!” Yang Kun instinctively moved to shield Old Master Yang.

But Yang Yuan was even faster. He kicked the cup mid-air, sending it flying, and it shattered into countless pieces upon hitting the ground.

In the next instant, without giving anyone time to react, Yang Yuan kicked Yang Tian in the stomach.

“Are you insane?!”

Yang Tian was kicked so hard that he flew out and landed heavily with a thud.

Jiang Fang, completely ignoring her own head injury, saw her precious son hurt again and started crying, “Yang Tian!”

“Go—check on Yang Tian!” Jiang Fang urgently pushed Yang Jie.

Yang Yuan had used significant force in his kick, and now Yang Tian lay on the ground, wailing.

Seeing his precious son crying so miserably, anger surged in Yang Jie’s heart, and he lunged at Yang Yuan without thinking—

“I’ll fight you to the death!”

The two immediately started grappling.

The living room turned chaotic.

Qin Yao couldn’t stand it any longer and was about to step in when he heard Ye Leyao’s voice:

[Hey, that man… he looks like the chubby guy.]

Qin Yao paused, and the Huo family all looked over.

The guests, who had come with Yang Kun and Old Master Yang, didn’t expect such chaos. Seeing Yang Yuan and Yang Jie fighting, they hurried to intervene.

After all, from Yang Yuan’s stance, he looked like he was ready to beat his uncle to death. If they didn’t stop him, what if he seriously hurt someone?

But among these people, there was one man who didn’t join in breaking up the fight. Instead, he ran straight to Jiang Fang, full of concern, and half-held her in his arms.

The scene was chaotic. If not for Ye Leyao’s reminder, they wouldn’t have noticed this in the corner.

Jiang Fang leaned into the man’s arms, her eyes full of tears.

The man whispered something in her ear, helping her slowly stand up.

Ye Leyao’s eyes quickly scanned the Yang family.

[Hey, they’re so intimate. How come no one thinks it’s odd?]

[Could it be they haven’t noticed?]

“Should I take you to the hospital first?” The man said this worriedly to Jiang Fang.

Jiang Fang shook her head, pointing to Yang Tian, “You… Brother, take Yang Tian to the hospital first!”

“Why worry about him? Your head injury is more serious!” The man said sternly.

Ye Leyao suddenly realized:

[So this is Jiang Fang’s stepbrother, Zhong Kang?]

[Then Yang Tian’s real father is him?!]

[Hmm… the more I look, the more they resemble each other.]

Qin Yao looked shocked.

The Huo family was also in disbelief.

Jiang Fang was really bold?

She dared to get involved with her stepbrother?

Ye Leyao continued to observe Zhong Kang closely.

[But why does Zhong Kang only care about Jiang Fang? He didn’t even glance at the chubby kid. Could it be he still doesn’t know Yang Tian is his son?]

[If Zhong Kang finds out the chubby kid is his son now… wow, wouldn’t things get even more interesting?]

“Let go of me!” Yang Jie shouted loudly.

Ye Leyao’s attention was drawn back, and he quickly looked over.

Two male guests were holding Yang Jie’s shoulders tightly, pulling him away from Yang Yuan.

Yang Jie was furious, struggling violently, “Let go of me! I want to beat that brat to death!”

Ye Leyao laughed out loud, seeing the two big panda eyes on Yang Jie’s face.

[Is it possible that they’re holding you back to save you from getting beaten up even worse by Yang Yuan?]

[If they really let go—]

Ye Leyao looked at Yang Yuan.

Yang Yuan was also being held by a few men. He could easily shake them off, but he didn’t move. He just looked at Yang Jie with a half-smile, provocatively saying, “Are you sure you can beat me?”

Yang Jie was so angry that his chest heaved, “You—”

“Enough!” Old Master Yang, watching the farce, closed his eyes wearily.

“Throw them out. Even if I die, don’t let them come back.” Old Master Yang pointed at Yang Jie and his family of three, saying to Yang Kun.

Yang Kun frowned but then said, “Alright.”

Yang Jie couldn’t believe Old Master Yang would say something so decisive. Anger flared up, “Dad! What do you mean? This is my home; why can’t I come back? And today, we’re the ones who suffered. Why are you always favoring my elder brother’s family? I’m also your son, and Yang Tian is also your grandson—”

“If you still regard me as your father, you shouldn’t have caused a scene in the hall just now, and you definitely shouldn’t have let that bastard cause trouble everywhere! Do you remember that today is my birthday celebration?!” Old Master Yang pointed at Yang Jie, who was still crying and wailing on the ground, his face full of anger.

“Throw them out!” Old Master Yang said in a thunderous voice.

“I’m not leaving!” Jiang Fang said, her eyes red as she glared at everyone. “Do you think it’s over if you throw us out? Let me tell you, this isn’t over! Yang Yuan not only hit my son but also my husband. I’m going to call the police—”

[Tsk, she still dares to call the police?]

[If I were Yang Yuan, I’d call the police too!]

Madam Yang didn’t expect Jiang Fang to say something so shameless.

She had initially thought that since Yang Jie was Yang Kun’s younger brother, every time Yang Jie’s family caused trouble, she tried to keep the peace, believing that family harmony was paramount.

But now, people were trying to bully her entire family. How could she tolerate this? She directly sneered, “Fine, call the police. I can also get an injury report and see if I can sue him—”

Madam Yang glanced at Yang Tian, who was still rolling on the ground, crying without shedding a single tear, and her expression turned colder: “Of course, I won’t just get an injury report. I’ll also hand over all the surveillance videos of Yang Tian stealing things from our house to the police. Let them see if these thefts can be prosecuted. Since you and your husband can’t control him, hand him over to those who can.”

Jiang Fang immediately shouted, “How dare you?!”

“Why wouldn’t they dare? Only the magistrate is allowed to set fires?” Ye Leyao shook his head.

The entire Huo family and Qin Yao suddenly turned to look at him.

Ye Leyao froze.

[Why are you looking at me?]

[Did I say something wrong?]

Mama Huo couldn’t help but sigh.

He was right, but how did he accidentally say his thoughts out loud?

Isn’t this asking for trouble?!

Sure enough, Jiang Fang turned around angrily and said, “Who are you to speak about my family matters?”

Qin Yao frowned, stepped forward, and shielded Ye Leyao behind him, “He’s not wrong. I think calling the police is a good idea.”

Only then did everyone notice Qin Yao, who had been silent all this time.

Jiang Fang naturally recognized Qin Yao, and her expression changed slightly as she subconsciously looked at Yang Jie.

Yang Jie finally broke free from his restraints and said coldly, “Xiao Qin, you’re just a junior…”

“As a junior, I shouldn’t meddle, especially since our family has long cut ties with Uncle Yang Jie’s family,” Qin Yao interrupted Yang Jie coldly.

After saying this, Yang Jie’s face flashed with embarrassment, quickly replaced by shame and anger: “Then why are you still—”

“So I’ll just say one more thing,” Qin Yao interrupted Yang Jie again, “Since I still call you uncle, I’ll remind you to take your son for a paternity test as soon as possible.”

The room fell silent.

Except for the Huo family, the faces of all the guests were filled with disbelief and gossip.

A paternity test?

To test if Yang Jie is the father of his own son?

The guests couldn’t help but look at Yang Tian on the ground, then at Yang Jie, and finally at Jiang Fang, who had blood streaming down her head.

Yang Tian isn’t Yang Jie’s son?

Is that true?

Weren’t they just watching family drama?

How did it suddenly turn into gossip?

This is getting interesting.

Yang Jie stood there in a daze: “What do you mean, are you saying Jiang Fang betrayed—”

Jiang Fang’s blood seemed to freeze in that moment, and she suddenly raised her voice and said, “Yang Jie!”

Yang Jie quickly turned to look at Jiang Fang.

Jiang Fang was trembling slightly, but she had to remain calm as she said, “Are you really going to doubt me?”

Yang Jie instinctively wanted to shake his head.

How could he doubt Jiang Fang?

Then he heard Qin Yao say quietly, “Or could it be, Uncle Yang Jie, you still haven’t noticed how much Yang Tian looks like his uncle?”

This sentence was like a thunderclap.

The guests all turned to look at Zhong Kang and Yang Tian.

Zhong Kang never expected that the Yang family’s affairs would involve him. At this moment, he also looked at Yang Tian on the ground with a look of disbelief.

Yang Tian was raised very fat by Yang Jie and Jiang Fang, but a child in his teens already has distinct facial features. Even if he is fat, his features won’t change.

Yang Tian has a flat nose.

Zhong Kang has the same.

Yang Tian has single eyelids.

So does Zhong Kang.

The more they compared their features, the more the guests’ expressions became colorful.

“They really do look alike?”

“Though it’s said nephews resemble uncles, isn’t Zhong Kang and Jiang Fang supposed to be stepbrother and sister…”

Yang Jie stood there as if struck by lightning. He looked at Yang Tian on the ground, then at Zhong Kang, and his gaze fell on Zhong Kang’s hand on Jiang Fang’s shoulder.

“You—”

It was as if Jiang Fang suddenly snapped out of it, and she pushed Zhong Kang away.

“Yang Jie!” Jiang Fang said with grievance, “I’ve given you three children, do you still not trust me?”

“Does that mean none of the three children are his?” Ye Leyao suddenly poked his head out from behind Qin Yao.

Yang Yuan couldn’t help but laugh: “Is that for real?”

Jiang Fang immediately flew into a rage, “What nonsense are you talking about—”

Qin Yao quickly shielded Ye Leyao again, “If it’s not true, a DNA test will clear things up, won’t it?”

Huo Yan quickly pulled Ye Leyao aside and whispered, “Can you keep quiet while watching the drama?”

Ye Leyao blinked and obediently nodded.

But he thought to himself:

[Alright, I’ll just say less later, so as not to make things worse.]

Huo Yan: “…”

You haven’t made things worse already?

Qin Yao at least just said that Yang Tian wasn’t Yang Jie’s biological son, but you directly told Yang Jie that none of his children are his! Wouldn’t Yang Jie be devastated?

In fact, Yang Jie was indeed somewhat devastated at this moment.

He didn’t want to believe Qin Yao’s words, and he trusted his beloved Jiang Fang more, but his eyes couldn’t lie.

Yang Tian clearly had no blood relation to Zhong Kang, but could someone explain to him why their facial features were so similar?

It was almost like—

They were carved from the same mold!

Yang Jie stared blankly at the two of them, speaking in disbelief, “No… it can’t be, right?”

Zhong Kang also thought it was impossible.

He did like Jiang Fang, but they only had that one time…

Zhong Kang suddenly shivered.

Could it be that one time?

Zhong Kang’s expression immediately became very complicated. He had never liked his nephew, Yang Tian, so when he saw that Yang Jie had spoiled the child, he never intervened.

But now he was being told that the nephew he always disliked was actually his own son?

Zhong Kang’s voice was hoarse as he looked down at Jiang Fang beside him, “Jiang Fang, Xiao Tian, he…”

Jiang Fang’s mental state was gradually collapsing.

She had kept the secret that Yang Tian was Zhong Kang’s son very well; no one but her knew!

How did Qin Yao find out?

And that unfamiliar young man just now—he even knew that her two daughters weren’t Yang Jie’s children!

Her biggest secret had been exposed face to face, and Jiang Fang was in a panic. Hearing Zhong Kang’s voice, she completely broke down, “No! How could Xiao Tian be your son?!”

“Xiao Tian is Yang Jie’s and my son,” Jiang Fang muttered, “Yes, he is our son!”

“I don’t want to stay here any longer…” Jiang Fang looked at Yang Jie with tear-filled eyes and said, “Yang Jie, can we go home now? Can we leave now?”

Yang Jie was silent.

He stared blankly at Jiang Fang. When Yang Tian pushed her just now, he used a lot of force, splitting her forehead open with blood still seeping out.

“We…” Yang Jie’s voice was hoarse, “Let’s go to the hospital first?”

At least they needed to treat the wound on her head, right?

Unexpectedly, upon hearing the word ‘hospital’, Jiang Fang completely lost it, shouting, “You don’t trust me! Yang Jie, do you not trust me?!”

Old Master Yang looked at the hysterical Jiang Fang, then at Yang Tian, who had stopped crying, and nodded at Yang Kun.

The next moment, security guards came in from outside, dragging the three of them out.

Jiang Fang’s emotions immediately became more agitated, “Let go of me—I can walk by myself. I won’t go to the hospital…”

Hearing her last sentence, the light in Yang Jie’s eyes completely dimmed.

He only wanted to take Jiang Fang to the hospital to bandage her wound, not for a DNA test. Why was Jiang Fang so afraid of going to the hospital?

The answer was already clear, but Yang Jie didn’t dare to look at it.

The security guards escorted Yang Jie, Jiang Fang, Yang Tian, and Zhong Kang downstairs.

Yang Jie quickly looked at Old Master Yang, but he didn’t even glance at him.

Then he looked at Yang Kun, whose eyes were calm, without a trace of emotion.

At that moment, Yang Jie’s heart sank to the bottom of the ocean.

Was he completely abandoned by the Yang family?

What was he going to do now?

Yang Tian started crying and fussing again, even kicking and punching the security guards.

Previously, the security guards would have tolerated it.

But Yang Kun had just told them not to be too polite, so they didn’t need to be.

One of the security guards directly twisted Yang Tian’s arm behind his back. With a crack, the little fat boy immediately screamed.

[Beautiful!]

Ye Leyao watched with great pleasure.

If it were before, Yang Jie would have immediately scolded the security guards if they mistreated his precious son. But at this moment, he only found Yang Tian’s voice annoying.

Instead, Zhong Kang couldn’t help but speak up, “Be gentle! If anything happens to the child…”

“Can you shut up?!” Jiang Fang lost control and shouted at Zhong Kang.

Zhong Kang instantly fell silent.

At the villa entrance, the security guards directly threw them out.

Yang Tian got up and walked towards Yang Jie, “Dad! You have to get revenge for me, those two just now—”

“Slap!” Yang Jie suddenly raised his hand and slapped Yang Tian, shouting, “It’s all your fault!”

Seeing this, Jiang Fang immediately burst into tears, “Yang Jie, what are you doing?!”

What was there for Yang Jie not to understand now?

No matter how unwilling he was to believe it, the truth was already laid bare before him.

Yang Jie glared at Jiang Fang with bloodshot eyes, “He’s not even my son?! What’s wrong with me hitting him?!”

“If it weren’t for him, if it weren’t for you—”

“How could my relationship with my father and brother have become so strained?”

“How could they be so heartless as to throw me out…” Yang Jie was drained of energy. He slowly stood up, ready to leave alone, when he suddenly noticed Yang Tian picking up a stone from the flower bed and walking towards him with a sinister look.

Yang Jie’s blood ran cold. He couldn’t hold back anymore and pinned Yang Tian down, “You little bastard, you dare to attack me with a stone—”

The villa door hadn’t fully closed, and through the gap, the guests could clearly see the “father and son” fighting.

The bad seeds Yang Jie sowed in the past were finally reaping their own consequences.

  1. Ahhh so refreshing. I don’t have any skills or knowledge of dealing with spoiled children at all so I hope that there’s more schadenfreude to come.

  2. He deserved it. But I feel sorry for the spoiled brat’s sisters, they don’t seem to have been spoiled (or loved, because they were women), and now their mother is an adulteress and they don’t even know who their father is.

  3. It is sad to see that he has lost the family that really loved him… he really did sow a bad seed and that wife of his needs to be punished too. At least, he wasn’t left in the dark.
    Thanks for the chapter

  4. While I try not to hate child characters that much unfortunately Yang Tian isn’t even a little bit human did he grow up watching serial killer dramas and psychopaths ?
