PE Ch59: Extra

A year later.

The airport in Jiuhe City had been completed, making transportation more convenient, and with successful investment promotion, Jiuhe City had changed significantly.

But the bigger change was, when Jian Yan stood outside Pan Yinchuan’s house, he found no one answering the door.

A passing neighbor said, “Are you looking for Xiao Pan? Their family has moved to Central City.”

Jian Yan: ?

In the morning, Pan Yinchuan slowly climbed out of bed and received his first call from Jian Yan.

“Hello? Jian Yan?”

His voice was still somewhat weak.

Oh, they went too hard the previous day.

He couldn’t entirely blame Huai Yu.

The joy he found weakened his resolve significantly, that was also a big part of the reason.

“At least you still remember me, your neighbors don’t recognize me anymore.” Jian Yan said with a bitter laugh, pausing, “I’m outside your house, are you at Mr. Huai’s place now?”

“Yes.” Pan Yinchuan replied naturally, without a hint of embarrassment.

After all, they were now in a proper romantic relationship.

Jian Yan choked up, “It’s been a year…”

“Yes.” A year.

Now that it was mentioned, it seemed their relationship anniversary was coming up. Pan Yinchuan rarely had a romantic thought.

“A year, and you can still tolerate Mr. Huai’s temper?” Jian Yan couldn’t hold back.

“Why wouldn’t I? Mr. Huai’s temper is very good now.”

Jian Yan: “…” Do you think I’ll believe that?

Pan Yinchuan sensed Jian Yan’s silence and emphasized, “Really good, I’m taking your call right next to him now.”

Jian Yan turned pale and almost threw his phone.

But after waiting a year, he was unwilling to hang up just like that.

He still had to stir things up a bit: “Does Mr. Huai allow you to take my calls? Won’t he take it out on you twice as hard at night?”

“No.” Pan Yinchuan answered confidently.

“Really?”

“Really.”

Jian Yan’s eyes reddened, and even his tone turned sour, “I can’t come to Central City to see with my own eyes if you’re really doing well. I hope you’re not being forced by Mr. Huai…”

Pan Yinchuan interrupted him, “No, don’t say that.”

Sometimes he would get angry at Huai Yu, but that was his own business.

He couldn’t let others be angry at Huai Yu.

Jian Yan sensed a hint of firmness in Pan Yinchuan’s tone.

He gave up completely.

He didn’t believe Mr. Huai’s temper could improve or his possessiveness lessen.

But if Pan Yinchuan was being coerced, he definitely wouldn’t have such a tone. Clearly, it was a tone nurtured in a relaxed and comfortable environment.

One could even say, Mr. Huai might indeed be very accommodating to him in certain ways, so he would respond like this.

“Actually, I bought the apartment opposite yours…” Jian Yan said softly in the end.

“Oh, then you can make money, it seems like it’s going to be demolished.”

Jian Yan sighed, “That’s really good news.”

At least not everything in life is bad, right?

Jian Yan didn’t say “goodbye,” it seemed he really just called to say a few words, and soon the phone was filled with a busy tone.

Pan Yinchuan blinked, sliding down from Huai Yu’s lap.

Huai Yu was right beside them.

But what could calm Mr. Huai down wasn’t because he had changed his ways to become a great philanthropist. It was because Pan Yinchuan shifted from the bed, settling into his lap.

This allowed for a more comfortable conversation with Jian Yan.

Mr. Huai wasn’t just not angry; he was actually quite pleased.

It was almost as if he was about to kiss Pan Yinchuan, letting Jian Yan hear the sound on the other end of the phone.

It was also knowing that Pan Yinchuan was thin-skinned that made Mr. Huai restrain himself.

“He bought the house across from yours?” Huai Yu stood up, his tone subtle, “He hasn’t changed his original intention?”

Pan Yinchuan pursed his lips. “People remember what they can’t get. The more fulfilling life is, the more they remember this. To say he truly likes it, well, there isn’t really that much.”

Those who are not liked by Pan Yinchuan see their love in Pan Yinchuan’s eyes like this.

So the remaining family members went mad.

Huai Yu’s eyes twitched, fortunately, he had Pan Yinchuan’s like.

Every time he thought about it alone, it was enough to make him feel moved.

Pan Yinchuan suddenly turned to look at Huai Yu. “Actually, speaking of which…”

“Hmm?”

“Jian Yan’s liking for me stems more from his liking of Mr. Huai but not being able to obtain him,” Pan Yinchuan remarked.

Huai Yu hadn’t expected the conversation to turn back to himself. Immediately, he explained, “But he doesn’t truly like me.”

“But you established a special support fund, and Jian Yan owes his current status to your various favorable policies. He admires you, appreciates you, and adores your strength and extraordinary abilities. Oh, Zhang Hang also told me that Jian Yan is willing to die for you…”

Huai Yu: …

Huai Yu stood up and walked over to Pan Yinchuan, leaning down to cover his mouth.

“I promise not to be jealous of Jian Yan,” Mr. Huai said sternly, “Is that understood?”

Pan Yinchuan nodded, “Understood.”

At that moment, a servant knocked on the door cautiously.

“Mr. Huai, Mr. Pan, um… Lin Shaoyan is waiting outside again.”

Pan Yinchuan looked at Huai Yu, “Can you also promise not to be jealous of him?”

Huai Yu: …

“Yan Xue should really be banished to the southern hemisphere.”

But after all, the relationship between Huai Yu and Pan Yinchuan was already very stable.

Actually, the one most frustrated right now was Yan Xue.

When Pan Yinchuan went downstairs to meet Lin Shaoyan, Yan Xue followed behind. When the two were talking, he suddenly rushed over to Huai Yu.

“Can’t you just control Xiao Pan a bit?” he burst out, “I’m really going crazy! Eating my food, staying at my place! He’s all about Xiao Pan every day!”

Faced with Yan Xue’s distress, his boss Huai Yu seemed a bit cold-hearted, “I’m not interested in hearing about your feelings of failure.”

If Jian Yan had seen this, he would definitely have made a sound: “I said, how could Mr. Huai’s temper possibly change?”

Downstairs, Lin Shaoyan reported to Pan Yinchuan that he had gone to cooking class today.

“Many Omegas. Annoying.”

He was just like a child who hated school.

No confession, no entanglement.

“Why are they annoying?” Pan Yinchuan asked.

Lin Shaoyan pulled out his phone and showed him a photo, “They like Yan Xue, so they always pick on me, spray perfume, and it’s disgusting when they get close.”

He added, “Are you going to the dinner with Mr. Huai tonight? Don’t go! Those Omegas are all annoying…”

Pan Yinchuan looked puzzled, “How come? I think they’re all lovely.”

Upstairs, Yan Xue overheard their conversation, his face changing slightly. Without hesitation, he turned to look at Huai Yu’s expression.

He remembered a long time ago… When Xiao Pan ran away, he said he was a straight man, right?

This sounds like he hasn’t changed his straightness?

Now all the Omegas are still fragrant and soft in his eyes!

But Huai Yu seemed unusually calm.

Just urging downstairs, “Promise to accompany me to work.”

Pan Yinchuan immediately got up and said goodbye to Lin Shaoyan.

Lin Shaoyan couldn’t stop him and could only watch them go.

Coming downstairs, Yan Xue heard Lin Shaoyan grumbling darkly, “How old is Mr. Huai? Why does he need someone to accompany him to work?”

“Why do you need Xiao Pan to accompany you? You’re already twenty,” Lin Shaoyan retorted, not holding back.

He quickly turned and ran towards the door, glancing back at Yan Xue, “Stop calling him Xiao Pan all the time. You Alphas have no manners.”

Yan Xue stood there dumbfounded, infuriated to the core, “Can’t even call him that?”

Pan Yinchuan escorted Huai Yu to work. The security in this five-story building was even tighter, frequented by many high-ranking officials from Central City.

Unlike their previous visit to Qingtian Tower, where most were aligned with Huai Yu’s faction, this place was more complex.

It was Pan Yinchuan’s first appearance here, and they eyed him with a mixture of realization and puzzlement.

Their faces seemed to say, “Ah, so this is the fox spirit.”

To them, Pan Yinchuan was exceedingly ordinary.

In terms of looks, there were countless Betas who were more striking, comparable to Omegas even!

And in terms of education, there were numerous outstanding Betas nurtured through Mr. Huai’s pilot programs!

As for family background and so on, there was no need to mention them…

But precisely because he was so ordinary, they couldn’t understand why rumors among the senior officials suggested that Pan Yinchuan possessed extraordinary abilities…

These exceptional abilities were vague, and they could only speculate based on his visible achievements that there was definitely more beneath the surface.

Otherwise, why would the antagonist leader from Ros State be chasing after Pan Yinchuan?

This kind of unfathomable mystery made Pan Yinchuan’s movements within the Central City institutions much smoother.

Because no one dared to provoke him.

“You go in, I’ll leave,” Pan Yinchuan hugged Huai Yu briefly, then pulled away.

“Going to the shooting range again?”

“Yeah,” Pan Yinchuan nodded. Since he rarely showed any talent in nursing after dropping out, he had decided to systematically study shooting instead.

Huai Yu raised his hand and rubbed his neck a few times before letting go.

The passing high-ranking officials were astonished.

They really were loving!

They were so affectionate that it made people a little envious, how did that happen?

Pan Yinchuan went to the shooting range for a while.

He couldn’t practice for too long because Beta physiology wasn’t like that of Alphas.

Leaning lazily against a support, a staff member brought him juice and snacks. After taking a bite of the snack and placing it aside, his phone rang.

It was Jody calling.

He was the skiing instructor who had previously lived in the castle and tried to seduce Pan Yinchuan into helping his family.

“Um… Are you free now? I didn’t dare to contact you. After you ran away last time, did your benefactor capture you?” Jody asked cautiously.

“He didn’t capture me.”

“That’s good. Would you be interested in coming to my place for a vacation? All expenses paid!”

Jody remembered his gratitude very well. He knew very well that the reason that gentleman had helped him was obviously because Pan Yinchuan had swayed him.

“What attractions do you have there?”

“We have island vibes! I guarantee you’ve never seen anything like it!” Jody even mentally planned a belly dance performance for him.

Pan Yinchuan responded, “Sure, let me see if I have any time off.”

Spending their anniversary like this wouldn’t be bad, would it?

There wasn’t much to do in Central City after staying there for so long.

By the time of the evening banquet, it was Huai Yu who came to pick up Pan Yinchuan this time.

Pan Yinchuan had changed into formal attire.

Huai Yu stared at him for a few seconds and suddenly said, “Wear sportswear.”

Pan Yinchuan: ?

Pan Yinchuan: “Is that appropriate?”

Huai Yu said seriously, “In the past, when Central City wasn’t under my jurisdiction, that was inappropriate. Now that it is under my jurisdiction, what I say goes.”

“But I don’t want to attract attention,” Pan Yinchuan firmly shook his head.

That made sense too. Everyone else was dressed formally, and Pan Yinchuan would stand out if he wore sportswear.

Huai Yu quickly came up with a new approach.

The banquet officially began at eight o’clock.

Huai Yu led Pan Yinchuan in slowly, instantly drawing all eyes to them.

Both of them were dressed casually.

At first glance, they looked like a couple.

Pan Yinchuan lowered his voice, “Won’t this undermine your aura, Mr. Huai?”

Both of them were dressed in white.

This made Huai Yu appear less aloof and more relaxed and carefree.

Huai Yu slightly lowered his head and whispered to him, “Those who shouldn’t raise their heads in front of me still won’t.”

As soon as Huai Yu finished speaking, someone approached them to greet them.

Sure enough, he bowed his back, lowered his head, and was very cautious, not daring to be presumptuous at all.

He talked with Huai Yu about military matters, and after listening for a while, Pan Yinchuan found it both boring and not something he should pay close attention to, so he simply walked away.

When Huai Yu turned around to find him, he had already gone to sit among a group of Omegas.

Pan Yinchuan appeared youthful, his temperament still youthful and unchanged.

If he wore formal attire, he would look more refined.

Wearing sportswear gave him a youthful vigor.

In this environment of fragrance and elegance, being less formal actually made him more approachable. Combined with his harmless demeanor, Omegas soon gathered around him, drawing closer and closer.

“Why aren’t there calluses on your hands? They’re not as thick as my family’s Alpha’s,” one curious Omega asked.

“Because I’ve only been practicing for a short time,” Pan Yinchuan replied amiably.

“But you can hit the bullseye. How do you do it?” another Omega asked, looking closely at his hands.

“It’s a feeling. Once I feel it, I hit it,” Pan Yinchuan explained.

“Your hands are actually very good-looking. No wounds, and your skin is very smooth. Not as tough as an Alpha’s, but stronger than an Omega’s.” Finally, an Omega couldn’t resist reaching out to touch his hand.

Huai Yu: “…”

At this moment, Lin Shaoyan also came with Yan Xue to protect Pan Yinchuan from being bullied by the Omegas.

Taking a glance around, Lin Shaoyan became upset. “Why are they all surrounding Pan Yinchuan?”

Yan Xue sighed, “How did Xiao Pan become so adept at diplomatic relations with ladies? It’s one thing for a straight guy to find Omegas cute, but it’s another thing to actually hang out with them. Besides gender, Pan Yinchuan really lives up to the title of ‘ideal spouse.'”

As Yan Xue pondered, he suddenly remembered, “What about Mr. Huai?”

The Alpha next to Huai Yu was extremely nervous, struggling to speak, “Mr. Huai, they… they don’t mean anything else. They’re all our wives, we just need to maintain some decorum.”

“Yeah, it’s just like this at wives’ gatherings. Sometimes they even discuss how their facial treatments are going and pull each other over to feel them…” The Alpha’s voice trailed off, fearing they might actually start touching each other’s faces.

Huai Yu didn’t respond to them, simply bypassing the movable partition in front of him and walking directly to the Omega’s private room.

The Omegas, who had been lively moments ago, instantly restrained their demeanor upon seeing him.

Lin Shaoyan took the opportunity to criticize, “You Alphas really know how to dampen the mood.”

Yan Xue: “…”

“I got some really nice mille-feuille pastry. It’s sprinkled with crushed peanuts on top, I remember you like it. Would you like to try some?” Huai Yu spoke up, not as terrifying as the Omegas had imagined. His words sounded particularly homely.

Pan Yinchuan stood up and walked out from among the Omegas, saying, “Goodbye, see you later…”

Before he could finish saying “see,” Huai Yu took him away.

Alpha… jealous?

Otherwise, why would Huai Yu bring him something he finds delicious instead of bringing Pan over to try it?

“Did you enjoy chatting with them?” Huai Yu asked in a low voice.

“It was okay.”

“Are Omega’s hands really that soft?”

“It’s a bit softer than Mr. Huai’s.”

“…”

Pan Yinchuan frowned, mimicking Huai Yu’s serious tone. “But I like Mr. Huai’s hardness.”

Huai Yu was instantly both amused and annoyed. He firmly wrapped his arm around Pan Yinchuan’s waist and whispered, “Stop playing with them.”

“You used to let me play with them.”

“When did I ever…” Huai Yu’s voice abruptly cut off. He recalled the first time he took Pan Yinchuan to a banquet.

Who would have thought Pan Yinchuan was straight?

In the ABO society, everyone’s orientations were chaotic, and it didn’t matter how they matched up. Unfortunately, he was traditional to the extreme.

“It was my fault. I gave you the chance to charm them with magic that time. Are you having such a good time chatting with Omegas?” Huai Yu’s face reddened slightly. “Do you still like Omegas?”

Pan Yinchuan quickly raised his hand and proactively embraced Huai Yu’s waist. “It’s a habit from many years ago. I unconsciously act like a gentleman towards Omegas.”

He thought for a moment before continuing, “I don’t even know what my sexual orientation is now. If I had to say, it would be ‘Huai-sexual.'”

“Huai-sexual?”

“It means there’s only one person in this world I like, and that’s you, Huai Yu.”

Huai Yu paused in his steps, instantly reassured by the displeased Alpha.

Unable to contain his emotions, he leaned down and kissed Pan Yinchuan.

After the kiss, Pan Yinchuan asked him, “Can I go back to continue playing with them later? I promised an Omega to teach him how to recognize guns. Poor guy is always bullied by his elders.”

“…” Huai Yu tightened his grip on Pan’s hand. “Can I shoot inside you tonight?”

“…Sure.”

“Then you can go back to play with them, but teaching people how to recognize guns doesn’t count.”

“Okay.” Pan Yinchuan tilted his head slightly, thought for a moment, and said, “I’m planning to go on a vacation to an island in a couple of days. I want to take Mr. Huai with me.”

“Wasn’t I supposed to go with you from the beginning?”

“It’s not the same. I’ve introduced Mr. Huai to my parents, but I haven’t introduced him to my friends.”

“Can I go teach people how to recognize guns now?” Huai Yu easily placated him.

Pan Yinchuan turned to leave.

Huai Yu grabbed him. “Wait.” Then he stuffed a piece of mille-feuille pastry into his mouth.

Pan Yinchuan chewed it blankly for a moment.

Huai Yu’s jealousy and his act of taking Pan away were genuine, as was his fondness for the mille-feuille pastry.

After swallowing it, Pan Yinchuan hooked his arms around Huai Yu’s neck, kissed him quickly, and then ran off.

Oh, he hoped that when he took Huai Yu to meet his “friends,” his friend Qiao Di wouldn’t be too scared.

Author’s Note:

A long extra chapter! I won’t be writing a separate CP for Yan Lin. I usually dig a pit for secondary CPs and don’t fill them in. Actually, a lot of details in the story have already hinted at it—Yan is the contrasting figure to Lin’s failed pursuit. In a previous chapter, Lin Shaoyan talked to Pan Yinchuan about his life in Central City and mentioned that Yan’s family was very dissatisfied with him. Yan’s family is one of those big families, and Yan himself has quite a strong Alpha chauvinism tendency. He described Pan as easy to coax and very good. If Pan weren’t with Mr. Huai, he would have used other means. He’s stuck here now because he can’t touch anyone. In this story, he can only be driven mad by Lin Shaoyan. Not every Alpha can lower themselves—Mr. Huai can because he’s suffered a lot and knows that to gain something, you first have to lose something. Actually, when I was writing, some details showed that Assistant Zhang’s thinking is also quite chauvinistic. And Assistant Zhang actually comes from a good family background—Pan once thought he looked like a young master. He’s not the resentful assistant in a CEO novel, haha.
