PE Ch41: Mr. Huai is here
After the live broadcast meeting ended, Huai Yu glanced at Yan Xue and said, “Good, you still have your sanity.”
Yan Xue let out a breath and then showed a bit of fatigue.
“Thank you for reminding me, Mr. Huai,” Yan Xue said, “With a global live broadcast, Lin Shaoyan wouldn’t miss such an opportunity to know my whereabouts. After watching the broadcast, he will stay in Jiuhe City without moving.”
“Sir, the plane is ready. Would you like to have lunch with them first?” The new assistant looked at the officials waiting nearby from Central City, “Or…”
“Prepare for immediate departure,” Huai Yu didn’t stop walking.
“Yes.”
Huai Yu didn’t even have time to change his clothes and rushed to board the plane.
At 3:06 PM, the plane landed at St. An State Airport. The governor, who received the news, hurried over, but Huai Yu had already gotten into a car and left.
Yan Xue didn’t catch up and was blocked by the enthusiastic governor who insisted on inviting him to a meal.
Yan Xue almost jumped with frustration, completely losing the demeanor of someone from Central City.
“My matter is more important!”
“Whatever you decide to do is your own business, sir just has one intention… to separate,” the new assistant stood by, unmoved.
Yan Xue frowned, “Wouldn’t it be better if your sir helped distract Xiao Pan while I went to catch Lin Shaoyan?”
“I’m just an assistant, I don’t know.”
“…”
In the leading armored vehicle, Assistant Zhang asked, “Not bringing Major Yan?”
“What do you think Pan Yinchuan would think if I showed up with Yan Xue?”
Assistant Zhang was a bit surprised.
Wasn’t sir planning to just come and take the person? Xiao Pan lying was a perfect excuse, wasn’t it?
The car quickly drove into Jiuhe City, and Huai Yu suddenly said, “Stop.”
“Sir?”
“Change to another car.”
“That would be too dangerous…”
“It’s also a good way to check if the public order and morals in Jiuhe City have really improved.”
The group changed cars without notifying the local municipal department and discreetly drove to the vicinity of Pan Yinchuan’s house.
The black car blended into the parking spaces in the community. Because it was a common color, it quickly became unnoticeable.
Everyone waited for Mr. Huai’s further instructions, whether to get out of the car and go upstairs, send someone to knock on the door, or something else.
But Huai Yu sat in the car without moving.
“Sir?” Assistant Zhang found himself not quite understanding Mr. Huai’s thoughts.
“Today is Saturday,” Huai Yu said.
“Yes, the meeting was specially scheduled for today.”
“Pan Yinchuan’s parents will be at home resting.”
“Yes…” Assistant Zhang paused, “I understand, they shouldn’t see you.”
Huai Yu said nothing.
“So are we waiting here until Monday? Should I arrange accommodation first?”
“Yes.”
Assistant Zhang got out and walked through the old buildings. His distinctive attire and the unmistakable air of an outstanding Alpha quickly drew attention from passersby.
Assistant Zhang was used to such gazes and didn’t mind.
Meanwhile, Pan Yinchuan was accompanying Jian Yan to look at houses, with a tail following behind.
The tail, Lin Shaoyan, said, “I think this one is very good, the layout is square and the lighting is great…”
The agent said, “Yes, yes!”
Jian Yan interrupted, “Not very good.”
Lin Shaoyan lifted his innocent eyes, “Can’t you afford it, Assistant Jian?”
Both of them were skilled at reading people, who would fall for whose trick? Jian Yan didn’t respond and turned to the agent, “Is there something closer?”
“Closer?”
“Yes, closer to Jiachang Court.”
Jiachang Court, where Pan Yinchuan’s house was.
Pan Yinchuan interjected, “That area where my house is, is all old neighborhoods, the houses are old too. If you’re buying a house, there’s no need to buy nearby.”
“I like old houses,” Jian Yan smiled, “They can evoke some childhood memories.”
“You were talking to my parents the other day, saying your childhood was tough, are those memories worth evoking?” Pan Yinchuan asked him.
Jian Yan choked, but quickly continued, “I hate the pain of childhood, but I miss the time when my parents were still around.”
Lin Shaoyan said, “You should go to an orphanage.”
Jian Yan looked at Pan Yinchuan and asked, “Is he going to follow us the whole time?”
“Xiao Lin is just staying at my house temporarily.”
“He can fit?”
Before Pan Yinchuan could speak, Lin Shaoyan interrupted, “Yeah, Pan Yinchuan can hold me while we sleep.”
Pan Yinchuan: “…” “I won’t hold you while we sleep.” After saying this, he turned to emphasize to Jian Yan, “You too.”
Lin Shaoyan immediately apologized, “I’m sorry, did I say something wrong?”
“Did you offend Major Yan and that’s why you came to Pan Yinchuan?” Jian Yan spoke first.
Lin Shaoyan lowered his head and said nothing.
“Do you know you could bring danger to Pan Yinchuan?” Jian Yan asked coldly.
Lin Shaoyan lowered his head further, revealing a section of his pale neck where he could be marked. When an Omega submissively lowers their head to an Alpha like this, it is an unmistakable gesture of submission and seduction.
Pan Yinchuan, feeling a bit of a headache, pulled up his collar, “Don’t do that, keep your head up.”
Lin Shaoyan slowly lifted his face, already covered in tears.
Jian Yan was instantly filled with curses.
“I know I should leave, but I can’t bear to part with you,” Lin Shaoyan said, wiping his face and choking up. “If Yan Xue tries to trouble you, I’ll make sure we both perish together.”
He paused, then looked at Jian Yan, “If Mr. Huai finds this place, can Assistant Jian ensure mutual destruction with Mr. Huai?”
Jian Yan stared at him.
He stared back at Jian Yan.
They both saw the sharp hostility in each other’s eyes.
Jian Yan still didn’t respond to Lin Shaoyan’s words and asked, “On Monday, when Pan Yinchuan goes to work, are you going to follow him?”
Lin Shaoyan immediately said, “I’m very obedient, I won’t disturb his work. I’ll just take him to work and pick him up after.”
“Don’t you have your own things to do? Are you only going to revolve around him? You are tying your fate to someone else? This is extremely irresponsible; you are putting pressure on him that doesn’t belong to him, kid.” Jian Yan’s tone was gentle but not merciful.
Lin Shaoyan turned his head immediately.
Jian Yan also turned to see Pan Yinchuan’s expression.
Then they realized… Pan Yinchuan was no longer there.
Pan Yinchuan had already seen the agent out, saying, “We’ll discuss it and let you know.”
The agent, still dazed from witnessing an Omega and a Beta competing over another Beta, could only respond blankly, “Ah, okay.”
The closed door reopened, and Pan Yinchuan returned to the living room, facing nearly eager looks from a Beta and an Omega simultaneously.
Pan Yinchuan paused, then turned to ask Lin Shaoyan, “Have you planned your future?”
Lin Shaoyan was caught off guard by the sudden question and froze.
Jian Yan immediately responded, “He should indeed plan well. He’s young, lacks decisiveness, and might need guidance…”
Before he finished, Pan Yinchuan nodded and said, “Yes, then Assistant Jian, please help him.”
Jian Yan: “…” “Alright.”
Lin Shaoyan: “I don’t want to.”
They both spoke almost simultaneously.
“Let’s not look here for now, let’s go back.” Pan Yinchuan turned and walked out, with Lin Shaoyan quickly following.
“Are you unhappy? Did I do something wrong?” Lin Shaoyan immediately apologized with his head down.
“No.”
“But you handed me over to Jian Yan.”
“It’s not handing you over. Assistant Jian graduated from a military academy and was the top of his class. Undoubtedly, he is excellent…” Pan Yinchuan paused here.
Lin Shaoyan’s eyes were red, his breathing slightly rapid, and he stared at him as if trying hard to control his emotions.
Pan Yinchuan slowly finished his sentence, “He can give you better advice. You need to plan for your future. Yan Xue hurt you, and after leaving him, you deserve a better life of your own.”
Lin Shaoyan’s expression calmed a bit, but he still seemed a little sad, “Jian Yan is right. He said I would bring you pressure, tying responsibility that isn’t yours to you…”
“You shouldn’t place everything on me.”
Lin Shaoyan’s breathing quickened again, but this time he lowered his head to hide it from Pan Yinchuan.
“This is dangerous and doesn’t allow you to develop a sound personality.”
“I don’t need a sound personality.”
“…” Pan Yinchuan was momentarily speechless but continued, “This gives others the opportunity to control you.”
“But you won’t do that.”
Pan Yinchuan, unaffected, continued, “They won’t cherish you anymore and can easily destroy the light in your world.”
“Would you do that?” Lin Shaoyan looked up at him. Although he wasn’t short, he preferred to lower himself in front of Pan Yinchuan, looking up at him.
“Even if I won’t do that… What about others?”
“There are no others.”
Pan Yinchuan paused and had to say, “Then what if something happens to me, like I die… all your reliance on me will collapse.”
“So don’t do this.” Pan Yinchuan paused, then decided to remind him, “Also, you are too young to distinguish the suspension bridge effect.”
Lin Shaoyan murmured, “You’re right.”
Pan Yinchuan patted his head.
As a person with normal preferences, of course, there is a kind of pity for Omegas cultivated by society’s background since childhood.
But Pan Yinchuan is not an Alpha.
He doesn’t have the Alpha’s preference for the weak, beautiful, clingy, and easy-to-control mates.
So there is only pity.
Pan Yinchuan doesn’t know what love feels like, but he clearly understands that if there is love, it should at least occur between two people with sound personalities, right?
“I know, I know what to do,” Lin Shaoyan said with his head down.
Jian Yan, a few steps behind, almost heard all of their conversation.
He was very happy about Pan Yinchuan’s refusal.
But thinking about it… facing such an Omega, Pan Yinchuan could still be so heartless.
Jian Yan soberly knew that he probably wasn’t much better off himself.
Sure enough.
As soon as he heard the approaching footsteps, Pan Yinchuan immediately turned back to Jian Yan and said, “I think this agent is pretty good. From now on, you can contact him yourself.”
He wasn’t planning to accompany him to see more houses.
Jian Yan forced a smile, “Alright.”
No problem, if one road is blocked, there’s always another. Anyway, no one has the upper hand now.
They took a cab and went back to near Pan Yinchuan’s house.
After getting out of the car, Jian Yan said, “I told Auntie I’d bring her some yeast. Let’s go to the supermarket together?”
Pan Yinchuan said, “Let’s go.”
In his mind, he thought it couldn’t go on like this; Jian Yan was becoming more and more liked by his parents.
The three of them entered the supermarket and, besides yeast, came out with some fruit and snacks. Those were bought for Lin Shaoyan, after all, he was a guest, and a young one at that.
Jian Yan couldn’t help but hate that he was a few years older than him.
The three of them carried plastic bags as they walked past rows of apartment buildings.
On the other side of these old buildings, against the wall, was a row of parking spaces.
“Assistant Jian?” The driver suddenly spoke up.
Huai Yu looked up and first saw Pan Yinchuan. He looked healthy and naturally relaxed.
Then he saw Jian Yan on the left and Lin Shaoyan on the right.
As they got closer and closer, the hearts of the bodyguards and driver in the car were in their throats, and one even had a hand on the car door.
Lin Shaoyan suddenly hugged Pan Yinchuan, burying his head and crying desperately.
“Yan Xue hurt me, Mr. Huai hurt you. I thought we should be the people who could rely on each other the most in this world…”
How coincidental.
They were standing right in front of Huai Yu’s car.
In an instant, the bodyguards and driver almost had heart attacks.
With a crisp “snap” sound.
The driver turned around to see that Mr. Huai, with a blank expression, had crushed the buffer device in his hand.
That thing was supposed to be put on Mr. Pan when they met him.
“Sir.” The driver couldn’t help but whisper.
Huai Yu didn’t say anything. He first lowered his head and pulled out a drawer, taking out a tranquilizer from inside.
Outside the car, Jian Yan felt something was wrong, a near-instinctive fear quickly spreading through his body.
The environment was still the same familiar one, and there were no strange people walking around.
Why? Why?
Jian Yan’s gaze fell on Lin Shaoyan in front.
The Omega was crying heartbrokenly.
But just before coming back, hadn’t he murmured that he knew what to do? Why suddenly “emotional breakdown” again? He should know very well that acting now is meaningless…
Jian Yan’s eyes flickered and suddenly fell on a black car nearby.
That car was very inconspicuous, a common Great Wall brand car. Because it’s cheap, you see them everywhere.
But such a cheap car had anti-peeping film on it.
Anti-peeping film…
Lin Shaoyan had gone mad!
Jian Yan’s eyelid twitched heavily, and his blood ran cold.
He stepped forward, lowered his voice, and said, “Mr. Huai is here, hurry upstairs.”
Pan Yinchuan was slightly puzzled, “Where?”
But as soon as he asked, he noticed something odd.
As the saying goes, if you can afford a car, it doesn’t mean you can maintain it. People still living in this area don’t have very affluent family conditions, and their cars are also cheap.
Cheap cars are not usually well-cared for and are often covered in dust and leaves.
This was the common state of most cars parked here.
There were a few new cars in the parking area that stood out.
The thought quickly flashed through Pan Yinchuan’s mind.
He said, “You take Lin Shaoyan upstairs first.”
Jian Yan looked at him in shock.
Hiding would only make one seem guilty.
Pan Yinchuan quickly made up his mind and walked around to the car window, raising his hand to knock.
The window slowly lowered.
None of them were mistaken.
Behind the window appeared the handsome and cold face of the Alpha.
“Mr. Huai, why are you following me?” Pan Yinchuan started with a counterattack.
Meanwhile.
Yan Xue, having just dealt with the governor, hurried all the way here, entering through another door.
He didn’t run into Pan Yinchuan and his group, went straight upstairs, and knocked on the door of the Pan family.
“You’re back?” someone responded, opening the door from the inside.
“Is this Pan Yinchuan’s home?” the visitor asked politely.
Pan Yueshan’s mouth dropped open. He turned to look at the TV, then back at the young Alpha in front of him.
“Yan Xue?”
“It’s me.”
“You came out of the TV?” Pan Yueshan blurted out.
Wang Xiu came out when she heard the voice and wasn’t surprised at all. She asked, “What can I do for you?”
She could guess who he was looking for but didn’t show any sign of it.
“I’m here to see…” Lin Shaoyan.
Yan Xue swallowed the second half of his sentence. It seemed they weren’t home; he couldn’t alert them.
“I’m here to see Pan Yinchuan,” he said.
Wang Xiu was taken aback.
Pan Yueshan was also stunned.
