PE Ch29: Dating isn’t suitable for three people
“No special items found,” the bodyguard reported.
“Hmm.” This was entirely within Huai Yu’s expectations, so his expression remained unchanged.
“Sir, these things…” The bodyguard looked troubled, thinking they would be a mess if put back.
Huai Yu suddenly turned to Pan Yinchuan and asked, “Do you still want them?”
Pan Yinchuan, holding a spoon: ?
Do these things look like they’re worth keeping?
“Let’s not keep them,” Pan Yinchuan said.
Huai Yu nodded: “Find a box and pack them all up.”
Pan Yinchuan was immediately surprised: “Huh? Pack them up?”
Would Mr. Huai be so kind? He already said he didn’t want them.
“Sir, you have a call.” Someone came in with a cordless phone.
Huai Yu took it, and Pan Yinchuan swallowed his doubts.
The call was short, and as Pan Yinchuan finished his last spoonful of soup, he heard Huai Yu turn to him and ask, “A bit of news about Jian Yan. Want to hear it?”
Pan Yinchuan shook his head without thinking.
What if he grew two tails by night?
Huai Yu said, “This one you can hear.”
Pan Yinchuan said, “I’m not really interested.”
Huai Yu: “…I know you have no interest in Jian Yan.”
“Now you can hear a bit. What happened to Jian Yan?” Pan Yinchuan sat up straight.
Huai Yu: “…”
“Speak.”
“I sent someone to find Yu Jia’an in Ros State, but he hasn’t been found. He might have changed his name, even undergone some plastic surgery.”
“Hmm?” Wasn’t this about Jian Yan?
“Recently, there have been multiple Beta disappearances in Ros State. Because Betas have low social status, especially in Ros State, it didn’t cause much of a stir. Until Jian Yan’s plane landed, and he also disappeared.”
Pan Yinchuan’s brow furrowed instantly: “Mr. Huai thinks Yu Jia’an is using a large number of Betas for gene-editing experiments?”
“Hmm.”
“What about Jian Yan? Still no news?” Thinking about Yu Jia’an’s motives, Pan Yinchuan felt uncomfortable.
“A signal was received half an hour ago.”
Pan Yinchuan immediately sighed with relief: “That’s good.”
The discomfort in his body instantly lessened.
Assistant Zhang interjected, “After all, he graduated from a military academy. He wouldn’t be stupid enough to be tricked into doing experiments.”
Pan Yinchuan nodded, but his brows still drooped slightly. He said weakly, “You can be a thief for a thousand days, but you can’t guard against a thief for a thousand days.”
There was a lead on Yu Jia’an’s whereabouts, but what next?
Now, with Mr. Huai protecting his parents, he didn’t have to worry about waking up one day, bound and turned into an Omega. But what would happen after the contract ended? What then?
Assistant Zhang responded, “Yes, that’s true.” Then he winked at Pan Yinchuan.
Pan Yinchuan: ?
Assistant Zhang winked again, then subtly glanced at Huai Yu before looking back at Pan Yinchuan.
Got it!
He wanted him to quickly ask Huai Yu for help.
“Mr. Huai, is the matter in Saint An State resolved?” Pan Yinchuan asked first.
Returning to Jiuhe City to deal with the Qinglong Society was essentially helping him.
Now he wanted Huai Yu to also handle Yu Jia’an’s issue thoroughly… Thinking this way, enduring a few more tails wasn’t such a big deal.
Huai Yu glanced at Assistant Zhang.
Assistant Zhang lowered his head, hiding his achievements and fame.
Then Huai Yu’s voice sounded, “Depends on who you’re asking.”
“Hmm?” Pan Yinchuan moved closer to Huai Yu.
“For you, the matter in Saint An State is resolved. For the governor, it’s just beginning. He probably wishes he could keep one eye open while sleeping now. And for me, this matter never really concerned me.”
“I don’t quite understand the governor’s current predicament, but it should be like taking medicine? If the virus isn’t completely eradicated as prescribed, when it resurfaces, it’ll have stronger resistance.” Pan Yinchuan sighed helplessly, “Mr. Huai, please stay in Saint An State a bit longer.”
“I thought you would ask me to take you to Ros State immediately.” Huai Yu raised an eyebrow in surprise.
“That was my initial thought, but once a task is started, it should be completed properly. If Saint An State can stabilize, it’s also good news for the residents of Jiuhe City. No one wants to live in a place with chaotic security.” Pan Yinchuan said helplessly.
He had been following recent news, and because of Huai Yu’s arrival, the residents of Saint An State were beyond grateful.
“Why don’t you consider a second option?” Huai Yu suddenly asked.
“Hmm? Second option?”
“Have Yan Xue take over Saint An State, and I’ll take you to Ros State.”
Pan Yinchuan initially wanted to ask if that would be too troublesome.
But on second thought, he had already troubled Huai Yu with many things. Wouldn’t going to Ros State be even more troublesome?
The remaining question was, “Will Major Yan agree?”
“He won’t agree, but I can make him agree.” Huai Yu paused, “And you can make me agree.”
Pan Yinchuan was stunned.
“Thank you, Mr. Huai!”
Is that it?
Huai Yu stared at him, increasingly feeling that Pan Yinchuan was slacking off.
And he was becoming harder to please.
But even though an Alpha’s stamina is formidable, they are still human, not beasts, and can’t be in heat all the time.
At this moment, Huai Yu only felt unsatisfied but didn’t want to push him down immediately.
So he threw the question back at Pan Yinchuan, “Just ‘thank you’?”
Pan Yinchuan was at his wit’s end.
He said very honestly, “I don’t know how to make you happy. I heard you don’t like people talking too much, nor do you like people acting coquettishly, and you don’t like…”
Huai Yu interrupted him, “Where did you hear that from?”
Pan Yinchuan hesitated, wondering if it was appropriate to mention Assistant Zhang now.
Huai Yu had already guessed, “Zhang Xing told you?”
Before Pan Yinchuan could speak, Huai Yu walked up to him, lifted his chin, and said, “Don’t you have a mouth?”
Huai Yu leaned closer to Pan Yinchuan’s face and said, “Ask me yourself.”
Pan Yinchuan breathed lightly and immediately demonstrated practical learning, “Do you really dislike people talking too much?”
“I didn’t sew your mouth shut when you couldn’t help but cry out in bed, did I?”
Pan Yinchuan’s breath hitched, feeling a bit embarrassed. But crying out and talking too much are not the same thing, right?
Huai Yu whispered in his ear, “I’m not a tyrant.”
“Sir, you have several important calls from Central City.” Someone knocked on the door.
Huai Yu straightened up and asked, “Do you want anything else to eat?”
“I’m full.”
“Okay, then rest well.” At this moment, Huai Yu even seemed a bit tender.
After finishing the brief conversation with Pan Yinchuan, Huai Yu turned and walked out.
As Huai Yu was about to leave, the governor came to see him off in a hurry.
The governor was in pain. He hadn’t had the chance to win over Pan Yinchuan yet, to work on the ‘first lady diplomacy’ and connect through the Beta, and now Huai Yu was leaving!
“Our hospitality has been inadequate. I hope there will be another chance to listen to Mr. Huai’s guidance in person.” The governor’s face was filled with reluctance.
Huai Yu paused, letting Pan Yinchuan get into the car first.
“You’ve dealt with Yan Xue before; he’s an acquaintance.” Huai Yu said, taking a notebook from Assistant Zhang and writing down a series of numbers, then tearing off the paper and handing it to the governor, “This is Yan Xue’s private number.”
The governor was stunned, “Mr. Huai, you mean…”
“Yan Xue will arrive in Saint An State soon.”
The governor’s face of reluctance and pain instantly turned into joy, bowing repeatedly, “Thank you, Mr. Huai! Thank you, Mr. Huai!”
“You shouldn’t be thanking me.” Huai Yu’s gaze shifted to the tightly closed car door.
Inside the car… wasn’t it just that Beta? The governor was stunned, then immediately changed his tone: “Thank you, Mr. Pan! Thank you! Really, thank you so much!”
He never expected that without any need for flattery, that Beta had already shared his kindness with him.
Huai Yu casually nodded and said to the governor, “You can rest assured and continue your grand plans.”
The governor could barely contain his excitement and replied emphatically, “I will definitely not disappoint you!”
Whether or not he would disappoint him wasn’t important at all… Without this person, there would still be a new governor in Saint An State. There were too many passionate people, but very few who could actually get things done.
He really should thank Pan Yinchuan; a single sentence would allow him to stay in his position for at least another ten years. Even if he had no ability, he should accomplish something.
The governor bowed twice more before stepping aside.
A bodyguard immediately came over to open the car door for Huai Yu.
“Mr. Huai,” Qin Weiwen had approached without anyone noticing.
He slightly shrank his neck with some unease and said in a low voice, “I really envy Mr. Pan. You have made so many good connections for him. Even if he leaves you in the future, others will still remember his kindness. He will live well.”
Huai Yu paused in his actions and said indifferently, “The good connections he made himself, he should bear the gratitude.”
“Really, Mr. Huai? He can’t persuade Major Yan, can he?”
Huai Yu lowered his head and adjusted his sleeve, saying, “What you said today has exceeded the boundaries you should adhere to.”
Qin Weiwen quickly took a half step back, raised his hands, and said, “Sorry, Mr. Huai. I just want to clarify my position. Because you now seem like… like you are seriously dating Mr. Pan. If that’s the case, I will be quite tactful and not disturb you two.”
Mr. Huai was too difficult to approach.
His thoughts were hard to fathom.
He had no choice but to take a risk.
Otherwise, he might find himself reassigned one day without knowing why… It was said that Assistant Jian was already in Ros State now.
In a place like Ros State, one could quickly fall off the map.
Qin Weiwen breathed nervously, quietly waiting for Huai Yu to speak.
After a while, Huai Yu asked him, “You think I’m dating Pan Yinchuan?”
“It looks that way. If it’s not dating, then you’re treating your lover too well. I wonder if I can have that experience?”
Huai Yu smiled, but it didn’t reach his eyes. He said, “Dating isn’t suitable for three people.”
Then he opened the car door and got in.
Qin Weiwen took a deep breath, his shoulders slumping. He stepped aside, watching their car drive away.
Otis approached at some point, shrugged, and said, “If you have no chance, then I definitely have none. It seems Mr. Huai has no interest in mixed-bloods at all.”
“That’s not the issue.”
“What?”
“Mr. Huai, who stands tall, is stepping down from his pedestal to taste the worldly pleasures.”
“What do you mean?”
Qin Weiwen: “…” He said impatiently, “Mr. Huai and Pan Yinchuan’s relationship has turned into a romance.”
Otis suddenly understood, “Plaything turned true love?” He shook his head, “I don’t think so… When I was eighteen, I thought my tastes wouldn’t change for a lifetime. But after a week, I no longer liked that anime character.”
“You can’t sleep with your favorite anime character,” Qin Weiwen said coldly.
Otis opened his mouth but found no rebuttal.
In the car.
Huai Yu silently watched Pan Yinchuan for a long time.
So long that Pan Yinchuan started to feel uneasy.
“Mr. Huai, do you have something to say?” Pan Yinchuan asked softly.
“Nothing.” Huai Yu looked away slightly but suddenly said, “Change the way you address me.”
Pan Yinchuan was stunned, “Change… the way I address you?”
“Everyone calls me ‘Mr. Huai.'” Huai Yu paused, “I won’t be sleeping with them.”
Pan Yinchuan was a bit confused, “Then… what should I call you?”
“Just call me by my name.”
Alright, whatever you say goes. Pan Yinchuan nodded readily, considering it settled.
“Thirsty?” Huai Yu suddenly asked.
“? Not really.”
Huai Yu casually placed his hand around Pan Yinchuan’s neck, flicking the buffer, “I’ll get you a new one tomorrow.”
Pan Yinchuan looked down and said, “This one isn’t broken yet.”
“Yes… But the collar design isn’t very reasonable,” he said, pressing his fingers against the skin of Pan Yinchuan’s neck, “It can chafe the skin.”
And it made him look like some sort of domesticated pet.
It would only make more people have improper thoughts when they saw him.
But Pan Yinchuan had never been picky about these things. After all, they were all quite expensive.
Huai Yu said to change it, so he nodded. Change it, then.
The car drove steadily forward. Midway, Huai Yu suddenly called for a stop, rolled down the window, and whispered instructions to someone.
That person quickly turned and ran to a roadside store.
He returned with a bag in hand.
Huai Yu took the bag and poured out a pile of colorful snacks in the car.
Then he said to Pan Yinchuan, “Pick and eat. The drive to the airport is still long.”
Pan Yinchuan, confused, picked up a snack, tore open the package, and took a bite.
Huai Yu watched him eat with a calm demeanor.
He actually found it somewhat amusing.
Well, still young, so he liked these things.
The flight from Saint An State to Ros State was long, and probably due to the special nature of their destination, they were not flying in a private plane but a military aircraft.
The comfort of a military aircraft couldn’t compare to a private plane, and the takeoff and landing were particularly rough.
When the plane made a nosedive landing, Pan Yinchuan felt as if his internal organs were about to be thrown out.
Huai Yu extended his arm diagonally and caught Pan Yinchuan, holding him securely in his embrace.
With this buffer, Pan Yinchuan didn’t hurt himself.
“Can you walk?” Huai Yu asked.
Pan Yinchuan nodded. Although his physique wasn’t as strong as an Alpha’s, he was still an adult male. He suppressed the urge to vomit, wanting to lag behind and walk slowly, but Huai Yu didn’t give him the chance.
Huai Yu forcefully grabbed his hand and led him off the plane.
The bodyguard followed beside them, still carrying that colorful snack bag.
Someone like Huai Yu, no matter how low-key he tried to be, couldn’t really be low-key.
There was already a large group of Alphas waiting on the tarmac.
They raised their heads, eyes blazing, looking in this direction.
Watching as Mr. Huai and a Beta walked down the gangway, they saw Mr. Huai suddenly pause, reach into the snack bag, and pull out a bag of candy.
Huai Yu asked, “What flavor do you like?”
Pan Yinchuan instinctively replied, “Apple.”
So Huai Yu picked out an apple-flavored hard candy, tore open the wrapper, and fed it to Pan Yinchuan.
“Still feel like vomiting?” Huai Yu asked.
The taste of the candy was spreading on Pan Yinchuan’s tongue. He rarely ate candy as a child. When he did, it felt particularly novel.
He pressed the hard candy against his teeth and shook his head dazedly.
Huai Yu stared at him, still unsatisfied with his reaction.
But what exactly did he want from Pan Yinchuan?
Huai Yu couldn’t explain it either.
“They are… waiting for you,” Pan Yinchuan couldn’t help but speak up.
He actually meant to say, they are all watching us, let’s go over quickly. You should shake hands with who you need to, and I’ll just wait in the car…
Huai Yu withdrew his gaze, “Hmm.”
But this time, Huai Yu didn’t let Pan Yinchuan go first. Pan Yinchuan had to brace himself and stay by his side, watching as one Alpha after another greeted Huai Yu.
And they were all very curious about Pan Yinchuan, their eyes always glancing over him…
“Familiar with their faces now?” Huai Yu asked.
“Hmm?” Was he asking him? Pan Yinchuan looked again at the Alphas in front of him. Their expressions were tense, clearly surprised that Huai Yu said this.
Pan Yinchuan said, “Familiar.”
Huai Yu smiled faintly, “Good. Ros State is a very turbulent place. If at any moment I’m not around, you can always go to them.”
Huai Yu’s words were a signal.
The Alphas immediately took out their business cards and handed them to Pan Yinchuan, saying enthusiastically, “Yes, yes, Mr. Huai’s matters are our matters. Don’t hesitate to trouble us…”
“Let’s go, get in the car.” Huai Yu commanded.
Only then did the others move.
Pan Yinchuan felt strange.
Was this to prevent Yu Ji’an from abducting him?
In Ros State, in a villa with outdated decor.
A young man in a white T-shirt, still wearing slippers, squatted down, rummaging through something.
The person next to him said, “We received accurate information that Huai Yu has diverted his flight to Ros State.”
The young man frowned tightly, “Why did he suddenly come to Ros State?”
“Don’t know… Could it be that the central city has noticed our movements?”
The young man sighed, “Let’s all hide for now. Stop all business.”
His subordinate suddenly said, “Huai Yu also brought a Beta lover.”
“Hmm, I’ve heard. His tastes are very special. So everywhere people are looking for beautiful Betas to send to him.” The young man paused, his tone suddenly turning absurd, “Could it be because too many Betas have gone missing in Ros State? Did this Mr. Huai, feel pity?”
