FIMA Ch39: Movie
Gu Siyuan’s first reaction was to put away his phone, then look up at the approaching person.
As a result, at first glance, he saw Xie Jinzhao in his loose bathrobe. Because he was half bent over, his delicate and white collarbone and a large area of smooth and tender skin were exposed directly in front of Gu Siyuan.
For some reason, Gu Siyuan furrowed his brows and couldn’t help but ask, “Why aren’t you properly dressed? Aren’t you cold?”
Xie Jinzhao squinted his eyes, suddenly becoming more curious.
It was almost the end of June going into July now, how could it still be cold during the peak of summer? This didn’t sound like something Gu Siyuan would usually say.
He turned his eyes and suddenly pressed his shoulder, exclaiming, “Ouch,” muttering, “I’ve been hanging from the harness for so long today, I feel sore all over. I don’t know if there’s any bruise or broken skin, could you take a look for me…”
As soon as Gu Siyuan heard this, he had no other thoughts, quickly pulling Xie Jinzhao into his arms and sitting down, reaching out to untie his bathrobe.
As the bathrobe fell, what came into view was a smooth and white back, along with elegant and beautiful shoulder blades.
Gu Siyuan carefully examined it for a few rounds, but didn’t see any injuries. Suddenly realizing, today was only the first day of filming, where could there be any harnessing? It was all indoor scenes.
He lowered his head and indeed saw someone holding his phone, looking worried…
He chuckled softly, “Can you unlock it?”
Xie Jinzhao glared at him angrily, “You even set a password, a grown man is so petty.”
Gu Siyuan was about to tease him a few more times when the doorbell rang outside.
He first put the bathrobe back on him, then stood up to open the door, it should be the dinner delivery.
Gu Siyuan walked to the door and saw that it was indeed the hotel’s waiter.
He took the meal and paid for it, and was about to close the door.
Suddenly the elevator door not far away opened, and three people came out from inside, two women and one man.
Two girls were looking at their phones, one was the female lead of “Jin Yi Yu Jing”, Lu Ruowen, and her assistant, both of whom Gu Siyuan had seen on set today.
The other male was pulling a cart, on top of it were stacked tall cardboard boxes wrapped in plastic, a total of three. According to the illustration, they seemed to be washing machines that Lu Ruowen had just bought.
However, it was stacked too high at once, and the ropes were not tied tightly. The top cardboard box had already tilted more than half and was shaking and about to fall.
Gu Siyuan frowned deeply, quickly threw down the meal bag in his hand, and rushed over with his long legs. Before the cardboard box fell and hit Lu Ruowen and her assistant, he caught it in one go.
Lu Ruowen saw him and her eyes lit up, “Mr. Gu!”
Gu Siyuan nodded.
At this time, the delivery guy with the appliances came forward. As he stretched out his hand to adjust the cardboard box, he kept apologizing, “Sorry, my bad, thank you so much, sir!”
Gu Siyuan looked at his young face and instructed, “For safety, next time take fewer boxes!”
The delivery guy nodded quickly.
Lu Ruowen looked at the shadow above her head, her face turned pale, only then did she realize what had happened.
Watching the cardboard boxes being adjusted, Gu Siyuan turned around to go back.
Lu Ruowen quickly grabbed his arm, bowing gratefully, “Mr. Gu, thank you so much just now!”
“Just a small effort,” Gu Siyuan shook his head, then glanced at her hand holding his sleeve, furrowing his brows, “Is there anything else?”
Lu Ruowen awkwardly let go of his sleeve.
Suddenly, she had an idea, handing him a cup of milk tea, and raising her phone, “I don’t know how to thank you properly, please have some milk tea, and also, I really like your variety show.”
Gu Siyuan looked at her phone screen, indeed playing “Who’s the Adventure King” variety show.
He nodded, took the milk tea, and said, “No matter how good it is, don’t watch it while walking.”
“Okay, Mr. Gu,” Lu Ruowen smiled brightly.
Gu Siyuan hmm’ed in response, took the milk tea, and went back.
As he reached the door of his room, he noticed that the meal bag he had just set down was gone. Furrowing his brows, he peered inside and saw that Xie Jinzhao had taken it, currently setting the dishes and plates on the table.
Closing the door behind him, Gu Siyuan walked over and sat on the chair next to Xie Jinzhao.
After Xie Jinzhao finished setting things down and sat down as well, he turned his head and immediately noticed the milk tea in Gu Siyuan’s hand. His voice turned cold, “How come I never noticed before that you like drinking milk tea?”
“It’s not a big deal, I don’t particularly like it,” Gu Siyuan replied casually.
Xie Jinzhao asked, “Then why did you bring it back?”
Gu Siyuan placed the milk tea on the table and said casually, “Didn’t you see it when you went out to get the food just now? It was sent by someone else.”
Of course, he saw it.
And seeing it was what made him angry.
Xie Jinzhao bit his lip, looking at the tall and sturdy figure next to him, with a deep and handsome face, and most importantly, a calm and compelling demeanor.
Hmm, indeed a bit eye-catching…
It’s just that calling him “husband” online isn’t enough; now there’s someone in real life who likes him too.
The more Xie Jinzhao thought about it, the angrier he became. He stabbed the two steaks he had just portioned out with both forks, taking a bite from each side of his mouth.
His cheeks bulged like a little squirrel.
Gu Siyuan looked up at him and chuckled, “With you like this, how am I supposed to eat? Use my hands?”
Xie Jinzhao chewed forcefully, swallowing the steak in his mouth.
Then, he coldly glanced at Gu Siyuan, sneering, “Drinking milk tea isn’t enough for you, my Western meal can’t match up to Mr. Gu.”
Gu Siyuan looked at the innocent milk tea on the table, seeming to grasp the emotions of the person in front of him.
He chuckled softly, reaching out to pinch the person’s cheek and bringing it close, “Feeling jealous?”
Xie Jinzhao hmphed, deliberately squeezing the muscles on his own arm, “What am I jealous of? Can my physique compare to your national husband status?”
This was something Gu Siyuan had said when they watched the “Who’s the Adventure King” variety show together.
Gu Siyuan shook his head helplessly; this guy really held grudges.
Gu Siyuan reached out and pulled him onto his lap, then lowered his head to kiss his beautiful eyes, his voice deep and low, “I understand now, from now on, only milk tea from you! Good boy!”
“…” Xie Jinzhao.
What does that mean?
Is that what he thinks it means?
Xie Jinzhao took a deep breath, regardless of what it meant, he couldn’t wait any longer.
Rarely taking the initiative, he jumped off Gu Siyuan’s lap, ran back to the dining table, piled all the steaks and ham he had just portioned onto a large plate, and pushed it in front of Gu Siyuan, his voice urgent, “Eat, quickly eat!”
“…” Gu Siyuan furrowed his brows.
Just a moment ago, he didn’t get a single bite, and now he was refusing to eat, insisting that Gu Siyuan eat it all.
Is this the desire of love, to make the other suffer and beg?
Gu Siyuan chuckled lightly, picked up his knife and fork, ate a bit for himself, and fed Xie Jinzhao a few bites.
This Western meal was ordered separately by Xie Jinzhao, not part of the hotel’s standard, and there was enough to feed four people.
Gu Siyuan was always moderate and never overindulged, so he stopped eating when he felt satisfied.
Xie Jinzhao looked at what was left, his brows furrowing prettily, “Why aren’t you eating more?”
Gu Siyuan rinsed his mouth and wiped his hands, “I’ve had enough.”
Xie Jinzhao hmphed discontentedly, “Eating so little, what if you run out of energy later?”
Upon hearing this, Gu Siyuan finally seemed to realize what this guy was plotting.
He raised an eyebrow, his penetrating gaze fixed on Xie Jinzhao, “What do you mean ‘can’t’? Who can’t?”
Xie Jinzhao bluntly tore off the facade.
He suddenly stood up, one hand untying the belt of his bathrobe, and boldly said, “I’m talking about you. What if halfway through, you can’t keep up anymore?”
“Heh…” Gu Siyuan’s long and narrow eyes narrowed, looking deeply at the person in front of him.
He really had some nerve.
Xie Jinzhao stared back, feeling wronged but also emboldened.
At this moment, his bathrobe completely slipped off, the cool air from the air conditioning causing his fair, slender body to shiver.
“Hmph, if you were really capable, why would I still be… Oh…”
Before he could finish his sentence, Xie Jinzhao had no chance to utter another word, completely engulfed in the warm and fuzzy kiss.
Afterward, he deeply understood whether Gu Siyuan was up to the task or not.
Even halfway through, Gu Siyuan mischievously asked Xie Jinzhao if he wanted to know what he had been watching on his phone earlier. Now, he could demonstrate it directly to him.
Xie Jinzhao, in a daze under his gentle coaxing voice, mumbled that he did.
Then, he immediately regretted it—regretted it in capital letters…
After that night, Gu Siyuan stayed with Xie Jinzhao for three days in Hengdian, then left abruptly.
Xie Jinzhao suddenly felt like he had been fooled.
Did Mr. Gu know he was leaving and preemptively comforted him, just like he had previously buttered up his fans online?
Heh…
Gu Siyuan returned to B City because he received a call from Cheng Xie, informing him that Far Intelligence Technology had made a breakthrough in their research and needed him to come back to take charge of the overall situation.
Actually, the timing was just right.
Previously, Far Intelligence Technology’s dynamic holographic research results had mainly been applied to special effects in film and television variety shows and gaming.
Especially after the popularity of “Who’s the Adventure King,” various collaborations had come pouring in.
It was often said that every frame of a blockbuster from a certain country burned money, and Far Intelligence’s special effects far exceeded current standards, naturally commanding higher prices.
However, for Far Intelligence, doing special effects was just the beginning, and everything now was just laying the groundwork for the future.
Both Gu Siyuan and Cheng Xie’s ultimate goal was to create a platform—a holographic projection chat software platform, which was the future trend.
But having just the software platform was not enough; the platform needed hardware support.
This time, returning from the film city, Gu Siyuan was going to discuss technical cooperation and development matters with a major domestic mobile phone brand.
In the days that followed, both of them immersed themselves in their respective careers.
Gu Siyuan practically worked day and night, as if he had returned to the time when he first started his laboratory, busy yet fulfilling.
Several times Xie Jinzhao tried calling him, but no one answered.
As a result, he became even more convinced that he might have been deceived.
…
So it went on, until three months flew by swiftly.
There were major projects with their share of pros and cons, and smaller projects had their own benefits.
Major projects attracted widespread attention from the moment they started, and even before airing, the production companies were inundated with various business opportunities, earning back their costs. However, this often led to various capital interests wanting to get involved, creating a situation where no one dared to offend anyone, and in the end, the final product often turned out mediocre and was overshadowed by some unexpected hits.
On the other hand, smaller projects like “Jinyi Yujing” had only a single production team behind them, at most two, with most of the crew being Wang’s original team, and other actors mostly cast through auditions.
Within the entire crew, no one dared to cause trouble, and thus, there were no last-minute additions or changes to the script. The progress of the crew was unusually fast, and the original three-month shooting period was completed on time and perfectly scheduled, earning the production team the title of “flawless.”
On the day of wrapping up the shoot in the morning, under Xie Jinzhao’s arrangement, the production manager specially ordered a KFC family bucket for the cast and crew.
At this time, Gu Siyuan, who had been out of touch for a long time, finally reestablished contact and came specifically to pick up Xie Jinzhao to leave.
Upon seeing the familiar tall figure, Xie Jinzhao’s first reaction was to jump up and rush over.
Gu Siyuan smiled and opened his arms.
But halfway there, Xie Jinzhao suddenly stopped in his tracks, stood there with an angry glare at Gu Siyuan, feeling deeply ashamed of his own weakness.
Gu Siyuan rubbed his nose, knowing he had indeed been too busy lately.
Carrying a bouquet of flowers, he walked over and gently said, “Congratulations on wrapping up.”
Xie Jinzhao wanted to stay angry and ignore him, but looking at the flowers, he couldn’t bring himself to. This was the first time Gu Siyuan had ever given him flowers…
He hugged the flowers tightly and grunted at Gu Siyuan, “You haven’t forgotten about me after all, busy big agent!”
Gu Siyuan didn’t tease him as usual, just extended his arm to sweep both Xie Jinzhao and the flowers into his embrace, resting his chin on his shoulder with a satisfied sigh, “Missed you.”
Listening to that familiar deep voice.
Xie Jinzhao’s heart instantly softened, forgetting all his annoyance.
The two didn’t stay long in the film city.
Gu Siyuan greeted Director Wang and others, discussed follow-up production and promotional issues, and then took the earliest flight out.
This time, Xie Jinzhao also learned from Gu Siyuan’s flaws and couldn’t reach him for several days.
On this morning, both their phones rang simultaneously.
Gu Siyuan picked up his phone with his upper body bare, and it was Cheng Xie calling to say that the efficiency on the factory side was high. They were preparing to directly install holographic features on the next flagship model, with a launch conference scheduled for a month later, inviting him to attend.
Gu Siyuan asked a few key questions about software testing, and Cheng Xie explained them one by one, assuring him that everything had been tested and resolved without issues.
He nodded, feeling relieved on his end. Although Cheng Xie was sometimes a bit naive, he never made mistakes in professional matters.
Just as he was about to inquire about the factory’s situation, suddenly, he felt a tickle around his waist.
Xie Jinzhao had hung up without him noticing. Now he was lazily lying on the bed, one long, bare white leg brazenly crossing over to his side, the toes occasionally mischievously brushing against his waist.
Gu Siyuan’s breath grew heavier.
He covered half of the phone with his large palm, leaned down to gently bite Xie Jinzhao’s cheek, then resumed discussing issues with Cheng Xie on the other end.
This time, he kept his words as brief as possible. After about four minutes, he ended the call.
Throwing his phone aside, he glanced at the troublemaker on the bed.
The person lying there carelessly smiled at him like a little fox.
In an instant, Gu Siyuan felt an urge to devour him whole. Though he was usually very restrained, he was never one to suppress his desires.
So, that icy-white body was completely enveloped in his arms, and thereafter, every part of that body bore his mark.
“Gu Siyuan…”
Xie Jinzhao’s lips trembled, his whole body shaking, but he kept murmuring repeatedly, “Gu Siyuan… Gu Siyuan…”
As if that name was his entire world.
The next day, both of them woke up completely from their chaotic life.
Because Xie Jinzhao’s production manager, Tu Ning, came directly to his door. She was the one who had called him yesterday morning.
At that time, Xie Jinzhao was supposed to have responded properly, saying he would decide on the next work plan soon. However, due to his recent days of being out of touch, Tu Ning didn’t fully trust him, so she decided to come in person to discuss business.
“Sister Ning.” Xie Jinzhao saw Tu Ning and subconsciously tightened his collar, where there were marks everywhere.
Tu Ning didn’t notice these, and went straight to the point, “Have you read through the scripts I recommended? Any favorites?”
“…,” Xie Jinzhao hesitated.
Could he say he hadn’t read anything?
He had been awake for only a few days recently, and asleep for most of the time. Tsk, next time he shouldn’t provoke Gu Siyuan like this again.
This guy could be as celibate as a monk, but once he got serious, he was insatiable.
“Jinzhao?” Tu Ning called again.
“Oh…,” Xie Jinzhao snapped out of it.
“It’s been decided. I’ll still co-invest a certain amount in the same project as before,” Gu Siyuan suddenly spoke up from the side office, tossing his tablet over, saving Xie Jinzhao from embarrassment.
Xie Jinzhao looked at his boyfriend with surprise, pursing his lips wanting to give him a kiss to show gratitude.
Gu Siyuan pinched both sides of his lips, turning his head away.
Xie Jinzhao didn’t mind, giggling.
Meanwhile, Tu Ning looked at the project Gu Siyuan had brought over, furrowing her brow slightly, “Is this a film? From Sunny Day Culture? I don’t recall recommending anything like this.”
Gu Siyuan nodded, “I bought this script myself. Sunny Day Culture has extensive experience in producing youth films. We’ve had previous collaborations in animation and special effects, so I invited them to participate in development. Besides, Sunny Day Culture has good relations with cinemas, which will be beneficial for scheduling in the future.”
Hearing him say this, Xie Jinzhao knew Gu Siyuan had seriously selected this script and had leveraged quite a few connections behind the scenes. He immediately stopped teasing him.
Taking the tablet from Tu Ning’s hands, he began to look at it seriously.
It was a script for a youth film, but unlike typical coming-of-age stories about skipping class or unwanted pregnancies, it depicted high school life realistically, almost as if it were his own experience. It was grounded in reality yet filled with youthful romance and fiery spirit, with a very solid plot.
Xie Jinzhao’s eyes lit up instantly.
Honestly, with this script, if the director handled it well, it could even become a classic youth film.
He looked at Gu Siyuan. “I want to film this.”
Gu Siyuan ruffled his hair. “This script was chosen for you.”
Xie Jinzhao’s heart filled up again. It wasn’t just because he loved Gu Siyuan so much, but because Gu Siyuan was truly too good and too charming.
As it was a youth film and they aimed for good box office results, Gu Siyuan and Sunny Day Culture planned to start filming as soon as possible, aiming for release during the summer vacation next year.
It was late October now. Youth films required a lot of young actors. Several leads could be chosen from those born in the mid-90s or early 2000s, but supporting roles still needed to be selected through auditions at major universities.
Once the decision was made here, Sunny Day Culture immediately began project planning. Casting invitations were sent to every appropriate actor’s agent.
That day, the casting director at Sunny Day Culture received a call.
He politely smiled, “Ah, Zhang Da, Qiran is hot right now. How come you have time to call me?”
Zhang Da on the other end also smiled, “Isn’t it because I have a request?”
The casting director hurriedly said, “I wouldn’t dare to think of it as a request. I might have to beg you in the future.”
Zhang Da politely exchanged a few more words before getting to the point, “I wanted to inquire about the script ‘Summer Flavor’ that you’re planning to start.”
Understanding immediately flickered in the casting director’s eyes. “Yes, you’re interested too.”
Zhang Da chuckled lightly, “I saw your announcement, there’s no casting call for the male lead. Does that mean someone’s already been chosen, or will it be a smaller audition?”
The casting director quickly responded, “Someone has already been chosen.”
He couldn’t afford to be anything less than proactive in confirming this. Everyone in the industry was sharp; this script was indeed quite good, and inquiries had been pouring in lately.
“Already chosen, huh,” Zhang Da pondered for a moment, then continued, “I wonder if it’s your top guy at Sunny Day or the recent darling xxx?”
The casting director denied but then said, “You have connections. Even if I wanted to hide it from you, I couldn’t. Besides, filming is about to start. The male lead is Xie Jinzhao.”
“Okay, thank you, Old Li. You’ve saved me some trouble,” Zhang Da replied.
That day, Xie Jinzhao was at home, practicing a diet and exercise routine because he was going to play a high school student.
Although he was already quite slim, there was still a difference between his physique and that of a student.
Just then, he received a call from his production manager.
Since the last time, his phone had been consistently active.
“What…?” Xie Jinzhao was confused and shocked. “How am I being criticized again? Haven’t I become the nation’s beloved little cutie since ‘Who’s the Adventure King’?”
“…,” Tu Ning.
Was their artist too self-absorbed?
