FIMA Ch4: Fighting

Xie Qingxiao’s face instantly turned red on one side. Without even turning his head, he knew that this laugh was directed at him, full of mockery and malice from Gu Siyuan.

But he didn’t understand why this Alpha desk mate, who usually lived in his own world and ignored others, was repeatedly mocking him today.

Could it be that he was angry about the basketball hitting the desk earlier today?

Or was it because he accidentally sat on his leg and broke his bone earlier?

Shame and anger completely replaced all other emotions.

Xie Qingxiao’s body was no longer stiff. He raised his chin and glared at Gu Siyuan, almost in a false show of strength, “What are you laughing at? Is it that funny?”

“Yes, it’s very funny.” Gu Siyuan nodded calmly, quietly looking at him with dark eyes, “Do you need me to tell you the joke so you can laugh too?”

“……”

Facing his calm eyes, Xie Qingxiao suddenly felt a difficult-to-describe emotion spreading in his heart.

For the second time.

In just half a day, for the second time. The person who made him so upset was Shen Ting. Even if he argued with Gu Siyuan, or even if he beat Gu Siyuan, what would be the point?

Xie Qingxiao slightly curled his lips, feeling that he really was like a joke.

Gu Siyuan paused for a moment, looking at this person in front of him who seemed about to cry. He wondered if he had really gone too far.

After the next class ended, the school day was over.

Day students went home as usual, while boarding students would return to the classroom for self-study at seven after dinner.

Repeating senior year life was probably a huge torment for most people.

For Gu Siyuan, it was no different. In his previous life, when he was in his family’s research institute, his schedule was even more rigorous and tight, a small trial compared to a bigger challenge.

Of course, the most important thing was that he remembered winning a first prize in the National Mathematical Olympiad during a summer camp in his second year of high school, and he was subsequently admitted early to Q University. The admission list seemed to be finalized shortly after the beginning of senior year.

In other words, he had no pressure regarding further education.

At six o’clock the next morning, Gu Siyuan got up from bed and went out for a run.

He lived in a rare single dormitory room in Beichuan Private School, one of the perks offered when Beichuan lured him from the provincial key school during the high school entrance exam.

The campus was unusually quiet. Today was Saturday, and Beichuan Private School’s first and second-year students had a regular two-day weekend.

Their senior class, however, continued to have classes, with only one day off on the weekend.

After running about ten laps, his pace gradually slowed, and the time was almost up.

A faint sound of someone reading English reached his ears. Gu Siyuan squinted his eyes. Under a nearby tree stood a thin figure pacing back and forth.

It’s often said that only after working hard can you understand the importance of talent.

However, most people in reality haven’t worked hard enough to reach the point where talent matters.

For those who study seriously and strive to improve, Gu Siyuan had a good impression. It seemed that even someone with a romantic mind could have commendable qualities.

Gu Siyuan slightly curled his lips.

Then, in the next second, he met a pair of clear and beautiful eyes.

Xie Qingxiao’s family lived in the city, a forty-minute bus ride from the school, even closer by taxi. He could have been a day student, but due to his strained relationship with his father and stepmother, he chose to board at school.

Although this choice led to cold mockery from his stepmother and siblings, who thought he was becoming independent and not treating them as family, on the other hand, it also gave him a few years of peaceful life.

However, who could have known that getting up early to memorize words would lead to encountering Gu Siyuan?

Perhaps it was the intermittent mocking and sneering from Gu Siyuan yesterday that conditioned his reflexes. As soon as Xie Qingxiao saw Gu Siyuan’s smile now, all his defenses went up.

He instinctively checked himself and found nothing laughable about his appearance, so he coldly stared at Gu Siyuan, “What are you laughing at now?”

Gu Siyuan: “……”

Is it really this hard to show some goodwill towards the mission target?

After finishing his run, Gu Siyuan returned to his dormitory, took a shower, and then headed to the classroom with his breakfast.

“Hey, is this the new handsome guy in our class?”

“Oh my god, this Alpha is so handsome and charismatic…”

“Hey? Isn’t that Gu Siyuan!”

“Oh my god, it really is the study god. How did the study god suddenly become so handsome? Without the bangs and glasses, he looks like a different person.”

“Oh my, he looks even more handsome than my husband!”

“Weren’t you just saying yesterday that your husband, xxx (a movie star), was the most handsome in the world?”

The Alphas nearby, listening to the chattering of the Betas and Omegas, felt speechless and a bit bitter.

It’s one thing to be outperformed by Gu Siyuan in academics, but now even their looks can’t compare?

Perhaps the coldness from Shen Ting yesterday had hurt Xie Qingxiao, or maybe Gu Siyuan’s mocking had put psychological pressure on him.

Xie Qingxiao didn’t approach Shen Ting at all today.

As a result, Gu Siyuan didn’t have a chance to continue his task of mocking and watching the show.

The day passed peacefully and pleasantly.

The only drawback was that during the last class, a light rain started to fall.

At Beichuan High School, the last class every Saturday was always the homeroom teacher’s class.

When this class ended, both day students and boarding students could go home directly.

Even though they only had a pitiful one-day break, most of the students in the classroom were already so excited their minds had flown away…

After waiting for what seemed like an eternity, the bell finally rang.

Just then, the homeroom teacher, Miss Zhang, suddenly remembered something and said, “By the way, the results of your first senior year joint exam have been out for several days now. When you go home today, everyone except Gu Siyuan must inform your parents about the situation and make sure they arrange time to come to school for a parent-teacher meeting next Monday afternoon.”

Upon hearing this, the previously joyful atmosphere in the classroom disappeared instantly, replaced by a chorus of groans and sighs.

Beichuan High School is a private school, and most of the students come from well-off families. They usually act arrogantly, but at the mention of exam results and calling parents, they all become meek and submissive.

Some mischievous students started joking around.

“Hey, can I be my own parent and attend the meeting myself?”

“I just remembered, my parents are going on a business trip that day. Can they skip it?”

“Hey, maybe I should pay someone on the street to be my mom…”

The homeroom teacher, hearing their endless nonsense, lightly knocked on the desk and sneered, “Anyone whose parents can’t come, report to me quickly… I have all the parents’ phone numbers from the start of the school year. I’ll call them one by one to check if they are really that busy, with no free time for one afternoon?”

After saying this, she ignored their pretenses, wrote the meeting’s specific time on the blackboard, and then left the classroom.

“Ah…”

Teenagers, whether sad or joyful, seem to have very short-lived emotions.

In less than half a minute, everyone started calling friends and discussing where to eat and where to hang out. As for the parent-teacher meeting, there were still two days left, so they’d worry about it later…

In no time, the classroom was almost completely empty.

“Qingxiao, you’re so lucky, you don’t have to worry about the parent-teacher meeting at all. I’m doomed…” Huo Yi leaned against the front wall, waiting for Xie Qingxiao to pack his bag, complaining casually.

Xie Qingxiao was in a fairly good mood.

His vain and indifferent father usually didn’t treat him well. The only time he was somewhat amiable was when he saw his exam rankings.

However, as Xie Qingxiao zipped up his backpack and saw Huo Yi’s nearly empty shoulder bag, he said irritably, “I’ve never seen a more relaxed senior student than you. You don’t even take a single book or test paper home.”

Huo Yi pouted in defiance.

Anyway, he couldn’t do the assignments, so what was the point of taking them home?

At that moment, he noticed that the bag on the desk next to Xie Qingxiao’s hadn’t been taken, and a pile of leisure books was left there brazenly. He couldn’t help but say, “Who says that? This guy is even more relaxed than I am.”

Hearing this, even though Xie Qingxiao had been annoyed by Gu Siyuan early that morning, he couldn’t help but laugh.

You, who are at the bottom of the class, are comparing yourself to someone who already has early admission guaranteed?

At this moment.

The person in question, Gu Siyuan, was sitting in the school’s small reading room, idly flipping through a book, leisurely waiting for the drizzling rain to stop.

He had originally planned to go to the mall after class to get a computer for making money.

The knowledge and skills he learned in his previous life were still in his head; the money he earned back then, however, had completely disappeared.

After who knows how long, the rain still showed no sign of letting up. From the indoor basketball court downstairs, the sound of basketballs hitting the floor intermittently reached his ears.

Today, because of the rain, there were puddles everywhere, and only the indoor basketball court on the first floor of the reading room was open.

With more people than space, conflicts and scrambles were inevitable, especially since the opposing groups already had old grudges.

“Damn it!”

Blocked during a layup, Huang Cheng walked over to the opposing group in a few steps, furious, “You did that on purpose, didn’t you?”

Shen Ting turned his head to the leader and sneered disdainfully, “Dan Kai, if you have something to say, just say it. If you want to fight, I’m game. Otherwise, get lost.”

“Heh, I’ve heard about Young Master Shen’s temper,” Dan Kai tossed a basketball in one hand, a sinister smile on his face, “But… who do you think you’re showing off to?”

With a loud “bang,” he slammed the basketball to the ground, sending it bouncing high.

His group of cronies, already itching for a fight, instantly surged forward in unison.

A brawl broke out.

Xie Qingxiao watched the scene, anxiously calling out “Shen Ting,” but his voice was quickly drowned out by the noisy crowd.

He had planned to go home after school.

But Shen Ting and his friends decided to play basketball first, and Luo Jiayang enthusiastically invited him to watch.

Who knew it would turn into a fight.
